2 Samuel 15
1 Después de esto Absalón se procuró una carroza y caballos, y cincuenta hombres corrían delante de él.
After this, Absalom prepared a chariot and horses for himself, and fifty men to run before him.
2 Levantándose Absalón muy temprano se colocaba junto al camino que llevaba a la puerta; y cuando alguno que tenía un pleito venía a juicio ante el rey, Absalón le llamaba y le decía: “¿De qué ciudad eres tú?”, y cuando este contestaba: “De tal o cual tribu de Israel es tu siervo”,
Absalom rose up early, and stood beside the way of the gate. When any man had a suit which should come to the king for judgement, then Absalom called to him, and said, “What city are you from?” He said, “Your servant is of one of the tribes of Israel.”
3 le respondía Absalón: “Mira, tu causa es buena y justa; pero no hay quien te oiga de parte del rey.”
Absalom said to him, “Behold, your matters are good and right; but there is no man deputized by the king to hear you.”
4 Y solía agregar Absalón: “¡Quién me constituyera juez en el país, para que todo hombre que tiene algún pleito o algún negocio viniese a mí! ¡Yo le haría justicia!”
Absalom said moreover, “Oh that I were made judge in the land, that every man who has any suit or cause might come to me, and I would do him justice!”
5 Y cuando alguno se acercaba para postrarse ante él, le tendía la mano, y asiéndole le besaba.
It was so, that when any man came near to bow down to him, he stretched out his hand, took hold of him, and kissed him.
6 Así hacía Absalón con todo Israel que venía a juicio ante el rey; con lo cual Absalón robó el corazón de los hombres de Israel.
Absalom did this sort of thing to all Israel who came to the king for judgement. So Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel.
7 Al cabo de cuatro años, dijo Absalón al rey: “Permíteme que vaya a cumplir en Hebrón el voto que tengo hecho a Yahvé.
At the end of forty years, Absalom said to the king, “Please let me go and pay my vow, which I have vowed to the LORD, in Hebron.
8 Pues estando tu siervo en Gesur, en Siria, hizo un voto diciendo: ‘Si Yahvé me restituyere a Jerusalén, serviré a Yahvé’.”
For your servant vowed a vow while I stayed at Geshur in Syria, saying, ‘If the LORD shall indeed bring me again to Jerusalem, then I will serve the LORD.’”
9 El rey le dijo: “Vete en paz.” Se levantó y marchó a Hebrón.
The king said to him, “Go in peace.” So he arose and went to Hebron.
10 Entonces Absalón envió mensajeros por todas las tribus de Israel, diciendo: “Cuando oyereis el sonido de la trompeta, decid: «¡Absalón es rey en Hebrón!»”
But Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, “As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, then you shall say, ‘Absalom is king in Hebron!’”
11 Con Absalón fueron doscientos hombres de Jerusalén que él había convidado; mas iban con sencillez de corazón, sin tener conocimiento de nada.
Two hundred men went with Absalom out of Jerusalem, who were invited, and went in their simplicity; and they didn’t know anything.
12 Mientras Absalón ofrecía los sacrificios, envió también a llamar de Gilo, su ciudad, a Aquitófel, gilonita, consejero de David. Era fuerte la conspiración, y el pueblo que estaba con Absalón iba cada vez más en aumento.
Absalom sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David’s counsellor, from his city, even from Giloh, while he was offering the sacrifices. The conspiracy was strong, for the people increased continually with Absalom.
13 Llegó a David un mensajero que dijo: “Los corazones de los hombres de Israel se han adherido a Absalón.”
A messenger came to David, saying, “The hearts of the men of Israel are after Absalom.”
14 Dijo entonces David a todos sus siervos que estaban con él en Jerusalén: «¡Levantaos y huyamos!, de lo contrario no podemos escapar a las manos de Absalón. ¡Daos prisa a salir, no sea que él, apresurándose, nos alcance y arroje sobre nosotros el mal y pase la ciudad a filo de espada!»
David said to all his servants who were with him at Jerusalem, “Arise! Let’s flee, or else none of us will escape from Absalom. Hurry to depart, lest he overtake us quickly and bring down evil on us, and strike the city with the edge of the sword.”
15 Los siervos del rey le respondieron: “He aquí a tus siervos, dispuestos a cuanto dispusiere el rey, nuestro señor.”
The king’s servants said to the king, “Behold, your servants are ready to do whatever my lord the king chooses.”
16 Salió, pues, el rey y toda su familia en pos de él. El rey dejó solo diez mujeres secundarias para guardar la casa.
The king went out, and all his household after him. The king left ten women, who were concubines, to keep the house.
17 Salido que hubo el rey, con toda la gente en pos de él, se paró cerca de una casa alejada.
The king went out, and all the people after him; and they stayed in Beth Merhak.
18 Entonces todos sus siervos desfilaron junto a él. Todos los cerneos, todos los feleteos y todos los geteos —seiscientos hombres que tras él habían venido de Gat— desfilaban por delante del rey.
All his servants passed on beside him; and all the Cherethites, and all the Pelethites, and all the Gittites, six hundred men who came after him from Gath, passed on before the king.
19 Dijo el rey a Etai, el geteo: “¿Por qué vas tú también con nosotros? Vuelve y quédate con el rey; pues eres extranjero y desterrado también de tu patria.
Then the king said to Ittai the Gittite, “Why do you also go with us? Return, and stay with the king; for you are a foreigner and also an exile. Return to your own place.
20 Ayer llegaste, ¿y hoy te hago ir vagando con nosotros cuando yo mismo no sé adónde voy? Vuelve, pues, y lleva contigo a tus hermanos. La misericordia y la fidelidad (de Dios) sean contigo.”
Whereas you came but yesterday, should I today make you go up and down with us, since I go where I may? Return, and take back your brothers. Mercy and truth be with you.”
21 Etai respondió al rey, diciendo: “¡Vive Yahvé, y vive mi señor el rey, que dondequiera que esté mi señor el rey; sea para muerte, sea para vida, allí estará también tu siervo!”
Ittai answered the king and said, “As the LORD lives, and as my lord the king lives, surely in what place my lord the king is, whether for death or for life, your servant will be there also.”
22 Dijo entonces David a Etai: “Ve, pues, y pasa adelante.” Y Etai, el geteo, pasó adelante con todos sus hombres y todos los niños que le acompañaban.
David said to Ittai, “Go and pass over.” Ittai the Gittite passed over, and all his men, and all the little ones who were with him.
23 Todo el país lloraba en alta voz mientras toda esa gente pasaba. Luego el rey y toda la gente atravesaron el Cedrón y se encaminaron hacia el desierto.
All the country wept with a loud voice, and all the people passed over. The king also himself passed over the brook Kidron, and all the people passed over towards the way of the wilderness.
24 Y he aquí que iba también Sadoc, y con él todos los levitas, que llevaban el Arca de la Alianza de Dios. Y depusieron el Arca de Dios mientras Abiatar ofrecía sacrificios hasta que toda la gente hubo salido de la ciudad.
Behold, Zadok also came, and all the Levites with him, bearing the ark of the covenant of God; and they set down God’s ark; and Abiathar went up until all the people finished passing out of the city.
25 Entonces dijo el rey a Sadoc: “Vuelve a llevar el Arca de Dios a la ciudad. Si yo hallare gracia a los ojos de Yahvé, Él me volverá a traer y me dejará ver el Arca y su Tabernáculo.
The king said to Zadok, “Carry God’s ark back into the city. If I find favour in the LORD’s eyes, he will bring me again, and show me both it and his habitation;
26 Mas si Él dijere: «No me complazco en ti», heme aquí, haga Él conmigo como mejor le parezca.”
but if he says, ‘I have no delight in you,’ behold, here I am. Let him do to me as seems good to him.”
27 Dijo además el rey al sacerdote Sadoc: “¿No eres tú vidente? Vuelve, pues, en paz, a la ciudad, juntamente con vuestros dos hijos: Aquimaas, tu hijo, y Jonatán, hijo de Abiatar.
The king said also to Zadok the priest, “Aren’t you a seer? Return into the city in peace, and your two sons with you, Ahimaaz your son and Jonathan the son of Abiathar.
28 Mira que yo esperaré en los vados del desierto, hasta que venga de vuestra parte una noticia informadora.”
Behold, I will stay at the fords of the wilderness until word comes from you to inform me.”
29 Así, pues, Sadoc y Abiatar llevaron el Arca de Dios a Jerusalén y se quedaron allí.
Zadok therefore and Abiathar carried God’s ark to Jerusalem again; and they stayed there.
30 Subía David la cuesta (del Monte) de los Olivos; subía llorando, cubierta la cabeza y caminando descalzo. También toda la gente que le acompañaba tenía cubierta la cabeza, y subían llorando.
David went up by the ascent of the Mount of Olives, and wept as he went up; and he had his head covered and went barefoot. All the people who were with him each covered his head, and they went up, weeping as they went up.
31 Se le dijo a David: “Aquitófel está entre los conspiradores con Absalón.” “Oh Yahvé, exclamó entonces David, te ruego, que vuelvas insensato el consejo de Aquitófel.”
Someone told David, saying, “Ahithophel is amongst the conspirators with Absalom.” David said, “LORD, please turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.”
32 Cuando David llegó a la cumbre donde solía adorar a Dios, he aquí que se le presentó Cusai, arquita, rasgados los vestidos y con tierra sobre su cabeza.
When David had come to the top, where God was worshipped, behold, Hushai the Archite came to meet him with his tunic torn and earth on his head.
33 David le dijo: “Si me acompañas, serás para mí una carga;
David said to him, “If you pass on with me, then you will be a burden to me;
34 pero si te vuelves a la ciudad y dices a Absalón: «Quiero ser siervo tuyo, oh rey. Antes he sido siervo de tu padre, mas ahora seré tu siervo», me podrás desconcertar el consejo de Aquitófel.
but if you return to the city, and tell Absalom, ‘I will be your servant, O king. As I have been your father’s servant in time past, so I will now be your servant; then will you defeat for me the counsel of Ahithophel.’
35 Tienes allí contigo a los sacerdotes Sadoc y Abiatar. Todo lo que sepas de la casa del rey, se lo comunicarás a los sacerdotes Sadoc y Abiatar.
Don’t you have Zadok and Abiathar the priests there with you? Therefore whatever you hear out of the king’s house, tell it to Zadok and Abiathar the priests.
36 Ellos tienen allí consigo a sus dos hijos, Aquimaas, hijo de Sadoc, y Jonatán, hijo de Abiatar; por medio de ellos podréis informarme de todo lo que lleguéis a oír.”
Behold, they have there with them their two sons, Ahimaaz, Zadok’s son, and Jonathan, Abiathar’s son. Send to me everything that you shall hear by them.”
37 Volvió, pues, Cusai, amigo de David, a la ciudad al mismo tiempo que Absalón hacía su entrada en Jerusalén.
So Hushai, David’s friend, came into the city; and Absalom came into Jerusalem.
