2 Samuel 13
1 Después de esto aconteció lo siguiente: Tenía Absalón, hijo de David, una hermana que era muy hermosa y se llamaba Tamar, de la cual se enamoró Amnón, hijo de David.
After this, Absalom the son of David had a beautiful sister, whose name was Tamar; and Amnon the son of David loved her.
2 Amnón se apasionó tanto que por amor de su hermana Tamar vino a enfermar; pues siendo ella virgen le parecía a Amnón imposible hacer con ella cosa alguna.
Amnon was so troubled that he became sick because of his sister Tamar, for she was a virgin, and it seemed hard to Amnon to do anything to her.
3 Tenía Amnón un amigo que se llamaba Jonadab, hijo de Sammá, hermano de David. Jonadab era un hombre muy astuto,
But Amnon had a friend whose name was Jonadab the son of Shimeah, David’s brother; and Jonadab was a very subtle man.
4 y le preguntó: “¿Por qué, hijo del rey, te pones cada vez más flaco? ¿No quieres descubrírmelo?” Amnón le contestó: “Estoy enamorado de Tamar, hermana de mi hermano Absalón.”
He said to him, “Why, son of the king, are you so sad from day to day? Won’t you tell me?” Amnon said to him, “I love Tamar, my brother Absalom’s sister.”
5 Le dijo Jonadab: “Acuéstate sobre tu cama y fíngete enfermo; y cuando tu padre venga a verte, le dirás: «Te ruego que venga mi hermana Tamar para darme de comer y para aderezar la comida ante mi vista, a fin de que yo lo vea y coma de su mano».”
Jonadab said to him, “Lay down on your bed and pretend to be sick. When your father comes to see you, tell him, ‘Please let my sister Tamar come and give me bread to eat, and prepare the food in my sight, that I may see it and eat it from her hand.’”
6 Se Acostó, pues, Amnón, y se fingió enfermo; y cuando vino su padre a verlo, dijo Amnón al rey: “Permite que venga mi hermana Tamar y haga ante mis ojos un par de hojuelas y yo las coma de su mano.”
So Amnon lay down and faked being sick. When the king came to see him, Amnon said to the king, “Please let my sister Tamar come and make me a couple of cakes in my sight, that I may eat from her hand.”
7 En efecto, David envió un recado a la habitación de Tamar para decirle: “Vete, a casa de tu hermano Amnón y prepárale la comida.”
Then David sent home to Tamar, saying, “Go now to your brother Amnon’s house, and prepare food for him.”
8 Fue, pues, Tamar a casa de su hermano Amnón, el cual se encontraba en cama, y tomando la pasta la amasó, e hizo delante de él las hojuelas y las puso a freír.
So Tamar went to her brother Amnon’s house; and he was lying down. She took dough, kneaded it, made cakes in his sight, and baked the cakes.
9 Y tomando la sartén las vació delante de él; mas él no quiso comer, sino que dijo: “¡Haced salir a todos de mi presencia!” Y salieron todos de su presencia.
She took the pan and poured them out before him, but he refused to eat. Amnon said, “Have all men leave me.” Then every man went out from him.
10 Luego dijo Amnón a Tamar: “Trae la comida a la alcoba para que yo la coma de tu mano.” Tomó, pues, Tamar las hojuelas que había hecho, y las llevó a su hermano Amnón a la alcoba.
Amnon said to Tamar, “Bring the food into the room, that I may eat from your hand.” Tamar took the cakes which she had made, and brought them into the room to Amnon her brother.
11 Mas cuando se las presentó para que comiese, echó mano de ella y le dijo: “¡Ven, hermana mía, acuéstate conmigo!”
When she had brought them near to him to eat, he took hold of her and said to her, “Come, lie with me, my sister!”
12 Ella le dijo: “¡No, hermano mío; no me humilles!, pues no se hace esto en Israel. No cometas tal infamia.
She answered him, “No, my brother, do not force me! For no such thing ought to be done in Israel. Don’t you do this folly!
13 ¿Adónde llevaría yo mi oprobio? Y tú serías tenido por un insensato en Israel. Por favor, habla al rey, que no se negará a darme a ti.”
As for me, where would I carry my shame? And as for you, you will be as one of the fools in Israel. Now therefore, please speak to the king; for he will not withhold me from you.”
14 Pero él no quiso escuchar su voz, sino que siendo más fuerte que ella, la violentó y se acostó con ella.
However, he would not listen to her voice; but being stronger than she, he forced her and lay with her.
15 Mas luego concibió Amnón contra ella un aborrecimiento tan grande, que el odio con que la odiaba era más grande que el amor con que la había amado. Le dijo, pues, Amnón: “¡Levántate y vete!”
Then Amnon hated her with exceedingly great hatred; for the hatred with which he hated her was greater than the love with which he had loved her. Amnon said to her, “Arise, be gone!”
16 Respondió ella: “Al ultraje que me has hecho no agregues el echarme fuera, lo que sería aún peor.” Pero él no quiso escucharla,
She said to him, “Not so, because this great wrong in sending me away is worse than the other that you did to me!” But he would not listen to her.
17 sino que llamando al criado que le servía, dijo: “¡Echad a esta fuera de aquí y cerrad la puerta tras ella!”
Then he called his servant who ministered to him, and said, “Now put this woman out from me, and bolt the door after her.”
18 Llevaba ella una ropa talar, tal como la vestían las doncellas hijas de rey. Y el sirviente la echó fuera y cerró tras ella la puerta.
She had a garment of various colours on her, for the king’s daughters who were virgins dressed in such robes. Then his servant brought her out and bolted the door after her.
19 Entonces Tamar puso ceniza sobre su cabeza, y rasgó la ropa talar que llevaba, y con las manos puestas sobre la cabeza se fue dando gritos.
Tamar put ashes on her head, and tore her garment of various colours that was on her; and she laid her hand on her head and went her way, crying aloud as she went.
20 Su hermano Absalón le preguntó: “¿Acaso ha estado contigo tu hermano Amnón? Calla por ahora, hermana mía; es tu hermano; no te aflijas demasiado por esta cosa.” Y Tamar permaneció desconsolada, en casa de su hermano Absalón.
Absalom her brother said to her, “Has Amnon your brother been with you? But now hold your peace, my sister. He is your brother. Don’t take this thing to heart.” So Tamar remained desolate in her brother Absalom’s house.
21 Cuando el rey David oyó todo esto se irritó en gran manera.
But when King David heard of all these things, he was very angry.
22 Mas Absalón no habló palabra con Amnón, ni mala ni buena. Sin embargo, Absalón tenía odio a Amnón, porque había violentado a su hermana Tamar.
Absalom spoke to Amnon neither good nor bad; for Absalom hated Amnon, because he had forced his sister Tamar.
23 Al cabo de dos años cuando Absalón tenía los esquiladores en Baal-Hasor, cerca de Efraím, convidó a todos los hijos del rey.
After two full years, Absalom had sheep shearers in Baal Hazor, which is beside Ephraim; and Absalom invited all the king’s sons.
24 Por lo cual fue Absalón al rey y le dijo: “He aquí que tu siervo tiene los esquiladores; te ruego que el rey y sus siervos acompañen a tu siervo.”
Absalom came to the king and said, “See now, your servant has sheep shearers. Please let the king and his servants go with your servant.”
25 Respondió el rey a Absalón: “No, hijo mío, no iremos todos, por no serte gravosos.” Absalón le instó, pero él rehusó ir y le dio la bendición.
The king said to Absalom, “No, my son, let’s not all go, lest we be burdensome to you.” He pressed him; however he would not go, but blessed him.
26 Dijo entonces Absalón: “Si tú no puedes ir, venga siquiera con nosotros mi hermano Amnón.” Le dijo el rey: “¿Para qué ha de ir contigo?”
Then Absalom said, “If not, please let my brother Amnon go with us.” The king said to him, “Why should he go with you?”
27 Pero instándole Absalón, envió con él a Amnón y a todos los hijos del rey.
But Absalom pressed him, and he let Amnon and all the king’s sons go with him.
28 Absalón había dado a sus siervos esta orden: “¡Estad alerta! Cuando el corazón de Amnón esté alegre por el vino y yo os diga: ¡Matad a Amnón!, entonces matadle. No temáis; soy yo quien os lo he mandado. ¡Mostrad coraje y sed hombres valientes!”
Absalom commanded his servants, saying, “Mark now, when Amnon’s heart is merry with wine; and when I tell you, ‘Strike Amnon,’ then kill him. Don’t be afraid. Haven’t I commanded you? Be courageous, and be valiant!”
29 Los siervos de Absalón hicieron con Amnón como Absalón les había mandado. Con lo que se levantaron todos los hijos del rey, montaron cada uno en su mula y se huyeron.
The servants of Absalom did to Amnon as Absalom had commanded. Then all the king’s sons arose, and every man got up on his mule and fled.
30 Estando ellos todavía en camino, llegó a David el rumor de que Absalón había dado muerte a todos los hijos del rey, sin quedar de ellos ni uno solo.
While they were on the way, the news came to David, saying, “Absalom has slain all the king’s sons, and there is not one of them left!”
31 Entonces, levantándose el rey, rasgó sus vestidos y se echó en tierra; y todos sus siervos que estaban presentes rasgaron también sus vestidos.
Then the king arose, and tore his garments, and lay on the earth; and all his servants stood by with their clothes torn.
32 Mas Jonadab, hijo de Sammá, hermano de David, tomó la palabra y dijo: “No diga mi señor que han muerto todos los jóvenes hijos del rey. Amnón solo ha perecido; porque Absalón lo tenía así determinado desde el día que (Amnón) violó a su hermana Tamar.
Jonadab the son of Shimeah, David’s brother, answered, “Don’t let my lord suppose that they have killed all the young men, the king’s sons, for Amnon only is dead; for by the appointment of Absalom this has been determined from the day that he forced his sister Tamar.
33 Ahora, pues, que mi señor el rey no dé crédito a ese rumor que dice: «Han muerto todos los hijos del rey», pues Amnón solo ha muerto.”
Now therefore don’t let my lord the king take the thing to his heart, to think that all the king’s sons are dead; for only Amnon is dead.”
34 Absalón emprendió la fuga. Entretanto, el joven que estaba de atalaya, alzando los ojos vio que venía mucha gente por el camino occidental, del lado de la montaña.
But Absalom fled. The young man who kept the watch lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, many people were coming by way of the hillside behind him.
35 Dijo entonces Jonadab al rey: “Mira cómo llegan los hijos del rey. Según dijo tu siervo, así ha sucedido.”
Jonadab said to the king, “Behold, the king’s sons are coming! It is as your servant said.”
36 Apenas acabó de hablar, he aquí que llegaron los hijos del rey, y alzando la voz lloraron. También el rey y todos sus siervos se deshacían en lágrimas.
As soon as he had finished speaking, behold, the king’s sons came, and lifted up their voices and wept. The king also and all his servants wept bitterly.
37 Absalón, empero, huyó y se dirigió a Talmai, hijo de Amiud, rey de Gesur. Y (David) estuvo de duelo por su hijo todos los días.
But Absalom fled and went to Talmai the son of Ammihur, king of Geshur. David mourned for his son every day.
38 Después de la huida estuvo Absalón durante tres años en Gesur,
So Absalom fled and went to Geshur, and was there three years.
39 y el rey David se consumía por la ausencia de Absalón; pues ya se había consolado de la muerte de Amnón.
King David longed to go out to Absalom, for he was comforted concerning Amnon, since he was dead.
