1 Reyes 14

1 En aquel tiempo enfermó Abías, hijo de Jeroboam.

At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam fell sick.

2 Y dijo Jeroboam a su mujer: “Levántate, por favor, y disfrázate, para que no se sepa que eres la mujer de Jeroboam, y vete a Silo. He aquí que allí está Ahías, el profeta, el mismo que me predijo que yo había de ser rey sobre este pueblo.

Jeroboam said to his wife, "Please get up and disguise yourself, that you won't be recognized as the wife of Jeroboam. Go to Shiloh. Look, there is Ahijah the prophet, who spoke concerning me that I should be king over this people.

3 Toma en tu mano diez panes, algunas tortas y un tarro de miel, y entra en su casa; él te dirá lo que ha de ser del niño.”

Take with you ten loaves, and cakes, and a jar of honey, and go to him. He will tell you what will become of the child."

4 Lo hizo así la mujer de Jeroboam. Se levantó, fue a Silo y entró en la casa de Ahías. Ahías ya no podía ver, porque a causa de su vejez se le habían quedado fijos los ojos.

Jeroboam's wife did so, and arose, and went to Shiloh, and came to the house of Ahijah. Now Ahijah could not see; for his eyes were set by reason of his age.

5 Yahvé había dicho a Ahías: “He aquí que viene la mujer de Jeroboam para consultarte acerca de su hijo, que está enfermo. Esto y esto le dirás, pues ella cuando venga fingirá ser otra.”

YHWH said to Ahijah, "Look, the wife of Jeroboam comes to inquire of you concerning her son; for he is sick. Thus and thus you shall tell her; for it will be, when she comes in, that she will pretend to be another woman."

6 Por eso al oír el sonido de los pasos de ella, cuando entraba por la puerta, dijo Ahías: “¡Entra, mujer de Jeroboam! ¿Para qué finges ser otra? Soy enviado para darte un mensaje duro.

It was so, when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet, as she came in at the door, that he said, "Come in, you wife of Jeroboam. Why do you pretend to be another? For I am sent to you with heavy news.

7 Ve y di a Jeroboam: Así dice Yahvé, el Dios de Israel: «Yo te ensalcé de en medio del pueblo y te puse por príncipe sobre Israel mi pueblo.

Go, tell Jeroboam, 'Thus says YHWH, the God of Israel: "Because I exalted you from among the people, and made you prince over my people Israel,

8 Arranqué el reino de la casa de David para entregártelo a ti, y sin embargo no has sido como mi siervo David, que guardó mis mandamientos y me siguió con todo su corazón, no haciendo otra cosa que cuanto era recto a mis ojos.

and tore the kingdom away from the house of David, and gave it you; and yet you have not been as my servant David, who kept my commandments, and who followed me with all his heart, to do that only which was right in my eyes,

9 Tú, empero, has hecho cosas peores que todos los que te han precedido; pues has comenzado a hacerte otros dioses e imágenes de fundición para provocar mi ira, y me has echado a tus espaldas.

but have done evil above all who were before you, and have gone and made you other gods, and molten images, to provoke me to anger, and have cast me behind your back:

10 Por tanto, he aquí que voy a hacer venir el mal sobre la casa de Jeroboam, y exterminaré (de la casa) de Jeroboam todos los varones, al esclavo y al libre en Israel; y barreré la posteridad de la casa de Jeroboam como se barre el estiércol, hasta que no quede nada.

therefore, look, I will bring disaster on the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam everyone who urinates on a wall, he who is shut up and he who is left at large in Israel, and will utterly sweep away the house of Jeroboam, as a man sweeps away dung, until it is all gone.

11 Al que de Jeroboam muriere en la ciudad, lo comerán los perros, y al que muriere en el campo, lo comerán las aves del cielo; porque Yahvé lo ha dicho».

He who dies of Jeroboam in the city shall the dogs eat; and he who dies in the field shall the birds of the sky eat: for YHWH has spoken it."'

12 Tú pues, levántate, vete a tu casa; y cuando tus pies entren en la ciudad, morirá el niño.

Arise therefore, and go to your house. When your feet enter into the city, the child shall die.

13 Todo Israel lo llorará y le darán sepultura, porque solo este (de la casa) de Jeroboam recibirá sepultura, por haberse hallado en él algo de bueno delante de Yahvé, el Dios de Israel, dentro de la casa de Jeroboam.

All Israel shall mourn for him, and bury him; for he only of Jeroboam shall come to the grave, because in him there is found some good thing toward YHWH, the God of Israel, in the house of Jeroboam.

14 Yahvé se suscitará un rey sobre Israel, que en aquel día destruirá la casa de Jeroboam. ¿Qué más por ahora?

Moreover YHWH will raise him up a king over Israel, who shall cut off the house of Jeroboam. This is day. What? Even now.

15 Yahvé sacudirá a Israel para que se agite como se agita la caña en el agua, y desarraigará a Israel de esta buena tierra que dio a sus padres, y los dispersará más allá del río; por cuanto se han hecho ascheras, provocando la ira de Yahvé.

For YHWH will strike Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water; and he will root up Israel out of this good land which he gave to their fathers, and will scatter them beyond the River, because they have made their Asherim, provoking YHWH to anger.

16 Él entregará a Israel a causa de los pecados que Jeroboam ha cometido y ha hecho cometer a Israel.”

He will give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, which he has sinned, and with which he has made Israel to sin."

17 Entonces se levantó la mujer de Jeroboam para irse y llegó a Tirsá, y al trasponer ella el umbral de la casa murió el niño.

Jeroboam's wife arose, and departed, and came to Tirzah. As she came to the threshold of the house, the child died.

18 Lo sepultaron y lo lloró todo Israel, conforme a la palabra que Yahvé había dicho por boca de su siervo Ahías, el profeta.

All Israel buried him, and mourned for him, according to the word of YHWH, which he spoke by his servant Ahijah the prophet.

19 Los demás hechos de Jeroboam, las guerras que hizo, y cómo reinó, he aquí que esto se halla escrito en el libro de los anales de los reyes de Israel.

The rest of the acts of Jeroboam, how he warred, and how he reigned, look, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.

20 El tiempo que reinó Jeroboam fue de veintidós años. Luego se durmió con sus padres, y Nadab su hijo reinó en su lugar.

The days which Jeroboam reigned were two and twenty years: and he slept with his fathers, and Nadab his son reigned in his place.

21 En Judá reinó Roboam, hijo de Salomón, el cual tenía cuarenta y un años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó diez y siete años en Jerusalén, la ciudad que Yahvé había escogido entre todas las tribus de Israel, para poner allí su Nombre, El nombre de su madre fue Naamá, ammonita.

Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which YHWH had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there: and his mother's name was Naamah the Ammonitess.

22 Judá hizo lo que era malo a los ojos de Yahvé, y con los pecados que cometían provocaron sus celos, más que lo habían hecho sus padres.

Judah did that which was evil in the sight of YHWH, and they provoked him to jealousy with their sins which they committed, above all that their fathers had done.

23 Erigieron lugares altos, piedras de culto y ascheras, encima de todo collado elevado y bajo todo árbol frondoso.

For they also built them high places, and pillars, and Asherim, on every high hill, and under every green tree;

24 Hubo también prostitución cultual de hombres en el país e imitaron todas las abominaciones de las naciones que Yahvé había arrojado delante de los hijos de Israel.

and there were also male shrine prostitutes in the land: they did according to all the abominations of the nations which YHWH drove out before the children of Israel.

25 El año quinto del rey Roboam subió contra Jerusalén Sesac, rey de Egipto,

It happened in the fifth year of king Rehoboam, that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem;

26 el cual tomó los tesoros de la casa de Yahvé y de la casa del rey y lo robó todo. Tomó también todos los escudos de oro que había hecho Salomón.

and he took away the treasures of the house of YHWH, and the treasures of the king's house; he even took away all: and he took away all the shields of gold which Solomon had made.

27 En lugar de ellos hizo el rey Roboam escudos de bronce y los entregó en manos de los capitanes de la guardia que guardaban la puerta del palacio real.

King Rehoboam made in their place shields of bronze, and committed them to the hands of the captains of the guard, who kept the door of the king's house.

28 Y siempre cuando el rey iba a la Casa de Yahvé los llevaban los de la guardia, y luego los volvían a traer a la cámara de la guardia.

It was so, that as often as the king went into the house of YHWH, the guard bore them, and brought them back into the guard room.

29 Los demás hechos de Roboam, y todo lo que hizo, ¿no se halla esto escrito en el libro de los anales de los Reyes de Judá?

Now the rest of the acts of Rehoboam, and all that he did, aren't they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

30 Y hubo siempre guerra entre Roboam y Jeroboam.

There was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.

31 Después se durmió Roboam con sus padres y fue sepultado con sus padres en la ciudad de David. El nombre de su madre fue Naamá, ammonita. Y reinó, en su lugar, su hijo Abiam.

Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the City of David: and his mother's name was Naamah the Ammonitess. Abijam his son reigned in his place.
