1 Markaasaa Bilaatos haddaba Ciise watay oo karbaashay,
After that, Pilate had Jesus scourged.

The soldiers made a crown with some thorns and put it on his head and threw a purple robe round him.

They kept coming up to him and saying, ‘Long live the king of the Jews!’ and they gave him blow after blow with their hands.
4 Bilaatos haddana dibadduu u baxay oo ku yidhi iyaga, Eega, isagaan idiin soo bixinayaa inaad ogaataan inaanan eed ku helin.
Pilate again came outside, and said to the people, ‘Look! I am bringing him out to you, so that you may know that I find nothing with which he can be charged.’
5 Ciise haddaba ayaa dibadda u soo baxay isagoo sita taajkii qodxanta ahaa iyo dharkii guduudnaa, oo Bilaatos ayaa ku yidhi iyaga, Bal eega ninka.
Then Jesus came outside, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe; and Pilate said to them, ‘Here is the man!’
6 Sidaa daraaddeed markii wadaaddadii sare iyo saraakiishii arkeen, ayay qayliyeen iyagoo leh, Iskutallaabta ku qodob, iskutallaabta ku qodob. Bilaatos ayaa ku yidhi, Idinku wata, oo iskutallaabta ku qodba, waayo, anigu eed kuma aan heline.
When the chief priests and the guards saw him, they shouted, ‘Crucify him! Crucify him!’ ‘Take him yourselves and crucify him,’ said Pilate. ‘For my part, I find nothing with which he can be charged.’
7 Yuhuuddii ayaa ugu jawaabtay, Sharci baannu leennahay, sharcigaas xaggiisana waa inuu dhinto, waayo, wuxuu iska dhigay Wiilka Ilaah.
‘But we,’ replied the crowd, ‘have a Law, under which he deserves death for making himself out to be the Son of God.’
8 Haddaba Bilaatos markuu hadalkaas maqlay, aad buu u sii baqay,
When Pilate heard what they said, he became still more alarmed;
9 oo haddana wuxuu galay guriga taliyaha oo ku yidhi Ciise, Xaggee baad ka timid? Laakiin Ciise jawaabna uma uu celinin.
and, going into the Government house again, he said to Jesus, ‘Where do you come from?’
10 Sidaa daraaddeed Bilaatos ayaa ku yidhi, Miyaanad ila hadlayn? Miyaanad ogayn inaan leeyahay amar aan kugu sii daayo iyo amar aan iskutallaabta kugu qodbo?
But Jesus made no reply. So Pilate said to him, ‘Do you refuse to speak to me? Don’t you know that I have power to release you, and have power to crucify you?’
11 Ciise ayaa ugu jawaabay, Amarna iguma aad lahaateen haddaan xagga sare lagaa siin. Sidaa daraaddeed kii ii soo kaa gacangeliyey ayaa kaa dembi weyn.
‘You would have no power over me at all,’ answered Jesus, ‘if it had not been given you from above; and, therefore, the man who betrayed me to you is guilty of the greater sin.’
12 Taas dabadeed Bilaatos wuxuu doonayay inuu sii daayo, laakiin Yuhuuddii ayaa qaylisay iyagoo leh, Haddaad ninkan sii daysid, Kaysar saaxiibkiis ma ihid. Nin kasta oo boqor iska dhigaba, wuxuu ku caasiyaa Kaysar.
This made Pilate anxious to release him; but the crowd shouted, ‘If you release that man, you are no friend of the Emperor! Anyone who makes himself out to be a king is setting himself against the Emperor!’
13 Haddaba Bilaatos markuu hadalladaas maqlay, ayuu Ciise dibadda u soo saaray, oo wuxuu ku fadhiistay kursiga xukumaadda, meesha la yidhaahdo Sallaxa Dhagaxa ah oo af Cibraanigana lagu yidhaahdo Gabbata.
On hearing what they said, Pilate brought Jesus out, and took his seat on the Bench at a place called “The Stone Pavement” – in Hebrew “Gabbatha.”
14 Haddaba waxay ahayd Maalintii Diyaargarayskii Kormaridda, abbaaraha saacaddii lixaad. Oo wuxuu Yuhuudda ku yidhi, Bal eega boqorkiinna.
It was the Passover Preparation day, and about noon. Then he said to the crowd, ‘Here is your king!’
15 Sidaa daraaddeed waxay ku qayliyeen, Kaxee, kaxee, iskutallaabta ku qodob. Markaasaa Bilaatos wuxuu ku yidhi, Boqorkiinna miyaan iskutallaabta ku qodbaa? Wadaaddadii sare ayaa ugu jawaabay, Boqor ma lihin Kaysar maahee.
At that the people shouted, ‘Kill him! Kill him! Crucify him!’ ‘What! Should I crucify your king?’ exclaimed Pilate. ‘We have no king but the Emperor,’ replied the chief priests;
16 Markaasuu haddaba u dhiibay in iskutallaabta lagu qodbo.
so Pilate gave Jesus up to them to be crucified. So they took Jesus;
17 Wayna kaxeeyeen Ciise. Markaas isagoo sita iskutallaabta ayuu u kacay meeshii Dhakada la yidhaahdo, oo af Cibraaniga lagu odhan jiray Golgota,
and he went out, carrying his cross himself, to the place which is named from a skull, or, in Hebrew, Golgotha.
18 meeshaasay iskutallaabaha ku qodbeen isaga iyo laba kale, midba gees, Ciisena dhexda.
There they crucified him, and two others with him – one on each side, and Jesus between them.
19 Bilaatosna wax buu qoray oo ku dhejiyey iskutallaabta dusheeda, waxaana ku qorraa, CIISIHII REER NAASARED, BOQORKA YUHUUDDA.
Pilate also had these words written and put up over the cross – “JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.”
20 Haddaba Yuhuudda badideed ayaa qorniinkaas akhriday, waayo, meeshii Ciise iskutallaabta lagaga qodbay waa u dhowayd magaalada, oo qorniinkii wuxuu ku qorraa af Cibraaniga iyo af Roomaaniga iyo af Gariigga.
These words were read by many people, because the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city; and they were written in Hebrew, Latin and Greek.
21 Sidaa daraaddeed wadaaddadii sare oo Yuhuudda waxay Bilaatos ku yidhaahdeen, Ha qorin, Boqorka Yuhuudda, laakiin qor, Kanaa yidhi, Waxaan ahay Boqorka Yuhuudda.
The chief priests said to Pilate, ‘Do not write “The king of the Jews”, but write what the man said – “I am the king of the Jews.”’
22 Bilaatos ayaa ugu jawaabay, Waxaan qoray ayaan qoray.
But Pilate answered, ‘What I have written, I have written.’
23 Haddaba askartii markay Ciise iskutallaabta ku qodbeen, dharkiisay qaateen oo ay afar meelood ka dhigeen, askari waliba meel buu qaatay, khamiiskiina way qaateen. Khamiiskii meella kama tollayn dusha iyo hoosta.
When the soldiers had crucified Jesus, they took his clothes and divided them into four shares – a share for each soldier – and they took the coat also. The coat had no seam, being woven in one piece from top to bottom.
24 Sidaa daraaddeed waxay isku yidhaahdeen, Yeynan kala jeexin, laakiin aan u saami ridanno kii heli doona, inuu noqdo Qorniinka oo leh, Iyagu waxay qaybsadeen dharkaygii. Khamiiskaygiina way u saami riteen. Haddaba waxyaalahaas askartii baa samaysay.
So they said to one another, ‘Do not let us tear it, but let us cast lots for it, to see who will have it.’ This was in fulfilment of the words of scripture – “They shared my clothes among them, and over my clothing they cast lots.” That was what the soldiers did.
25 Waxaa Ciise iskutallaabtiisa ag taagnaa hooyadiis, iyo habaryartiis, Maryan afadii Kaloobaas, iyo Maryan tii reer Magdala.
Meanwhile near the cross of Jesus were standing his mother and his mother’s sister, as well as Mary the wife of Clopas and Mary of Magdala.
26 Sidaa daraaddeed Ciise markuu arkay hooyadiis iyo kii xerta ahaa oo uu jeclaa oo ag taagan, ayuu hooyadiis ku yidhi, Islaan yahay, waa kaa wiilkaagii.
When Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved, standing near, he said to his mother, ‘There is your son.’
27 Markaasuu kii xerta ahaana ku yidhi, Waa taa hooyadaa. Oo saacaddaas dabadeed kii xerta ahaa ayaa gurigiisii u kaxeeyey.
Then he said to that disciple, ‘There is your mother.’ And from that very hour the disciple took her to live in his house.
28 Markaas dabadeed Ciise isagoo garanaya wax kasta inay dhammaadeen, in Qorniinku ahaado, ayuu yidhi, Waan harraadsanahay.
Afterwards, knowing that everything was now finished, Jesus said, in fulfilment of the words of scripture, ‘I am thirsty.’
29 Markaas waxaa meeshaas yiil weel khal ka buuxo. Sidaa daraaddeed geed isbonji la yidhaahdo bay khalkii ka buuxiyeen, markaasay kor saareen geed husob la yidhaahdo oo afkiisa ku dhoweeyeen.
There was a bowl standing there full of common wine; so they put a sponge soaked in the wine on the end of a hyssop-stalk, and held it up to his mouth.
30 Haddaba markii Ciise khalkii qaatay ayuu yidhi, Waa dhammaatay, markaasuu madaxa foororshay oo ruuxii bixiyey.
When Jesus had received the wine, he exclaimed, ‘All is finished!’ Then, bowing his head, he resigned his spirit to God.
31 Sidaa daraaddeed Yuhuuddii, inaan meydadku sabtida iskutallaabaha sii saarnaan, waxay Bilaatos ka baryeen in lugaha laga jebiyo oo meydadka la qaado, waayo, waxay ahayd Maalintii Diyaargarayska, oo maalinta sabtidaas waxay ahayd maalin weyn.
It was the Preparation day, and so, to prevent the bodies from remaining on the crosses during the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a great day), the Jews asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies removed.
32 Haddaba askartii waa timid, oo ay lugaha ka jebiyeen kii hore iyo kii kale oo iskutallaabaha lagula qodbay isaga.
Accordingly the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first man, and then those of the other who had been crucified with Jesus;
33 Laakiin markay Ciise u yimaadeen oo ay arkeen inuu durba dhintay kama ay jebin lugihii.
but, on coming to him, when they saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs.
34 Laakiin mid askartii ka mid ah ayaa dhinaca Ciise waran kaga wareemay, oo markiiba waxaa ka soo baxay dhiig iyo biyo.
One of the soldiers, however, pierced his side with a spear, and blood and water immediately flowed from it.
35 Oo kii arkayna wuu marag furay, maraggiisuna waa run, wuuna garanayaa inuu run sheegayo, inaad idinkuna rumaysataan.
This is the statement of one who actually saw it – and his statement may be relied on, and he knows that he is speaking the truth – and it is given in order that you also may be convinced.
36 Waayo, waxyaalahaas waxay u dhaceen inuu ahaado Qorniinka leh, Lafihiisa midna la jebin maayo.
For all this happened in fulfilment of the words of scripture – “Not one of its bones will be broken.”
37 Oo Qorniin kale wuxuu leeyahay, Way arki doonaan kii ay wareemeen.
And there is another passage which says – “They will look on him whom they pierced.”
38 Waxyaalahaas dabadeed, Yuusuf kii ahaa reer Arimataya, isagoo xer u ah Ciise laakiinse si qarsoon cabsidii uu ka cabsaday Yuhuudda aawadeed, wuxuu Bilaatos ka baryay inuu meydka Ciise qaado. Bilaatosna waa u fasaxay. Sidaa daraaddeed wuu yimid oo meydkiisii qaaday.
After this, Joseph of Arimathea, a disciple of Jesus – but a secret one, owing to his fear of the religious authorities – begged Pilate’s permission to remove the body of Jesus. Pilate gave him leave; so Joseph went and removed the body.
39 Oo waxaa kaloo yimid Nikodemos kii markii hore habeennimada u yimid, wuxuuna keenay malmal iyo cuud isku qasan oo qiyaastii boqol rodol ah.
Nicodemus, too – the man who had formerly visited Jesus by night – came with a roll of myrrh and aloes, weighing nearly a hundred pounds.
40 Haddaba waxay qaadeen meydkii Ciise oo ku duudduubeen maryo iyo dhir udgoon siday caadada aasniinta Yuhuuddu ahayd.
They took the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen with the spices, according to the Jewish mode of burial.
41 Meeshii isaga iskutallaabta lagu qodbay waxaa ku tiil beer, beerta dhexdeedana waxaa ku tiil xabaal cusub oo aan ninna weli la dhigin.
At the place where Jesus had been crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a newly made tomb in which no one had ever been laid.
42 Haddaba Maalintii Diyaargarayska oo Yuhuudda aawadeed ayay meeshaas Ciise u dhigeen, waayo, xabaashii waa dhowayd.
And so, because of its being the Preparation day, and as the tomb was close at hand, they laid Jesus there.
