Psalmi 78
1 Pesem ukovita Asafova. Poslušaj, ljudstvo moje, nauk moj; nagnite uho svoje govoru mojih ust.
An Instructive Psalm. Asaph’s. Give ear, O my people, to mine instruction, Bend your ear to the sayings of my mouth;
2 V priliki odprem usta svoja; od sebe dam skrivnosti časov nekdanjih,
I will open, in a parable, my mouth, I will pour forth enigmas out of antiquity; —
3 Kar smo slišali in znali, ko so nam pravili pradedje naši.
Which we have heard, and come to know, And, our fathers, have recounted to us;
4 Prikrivali ne bodemo njih otrokom, naslednjemu rodu, da oznanjajo hvalo Gospodovo in moč njegovo, in čudovita dela njegova, katera je storil.
We will not withhold [them] from their children, To a later generation, recounting the praises of Yahweh, Even his might and his wonders which he wrought;
5 Ker ustanovil je pričanje v Jakobu in postavil zakon v Izraelu, ko je zapovedal pradedom našim, oznanjati svojim otrokom.
When he set up a testimony in Jacob, And, a law, appointed in Israel, —Which he commanded our fathers, That they might make them known to their children;
6 Da vedó, naslednji rod, otroci prihodnji, in vstanejo ter oznanjajo otrokom svojim.
To the end, A later generation, might come to know, Children who should be born, Who should arise, and recount [them] to their children;
7 Upanje svoje naj stavijo v Boga, in ne pozabijo naj dejanj Boga mogočnega, temuč hranijo naj zapovedi njegove.
That they might set, in Elohim, their confidence, —And not forget the doings of El, But, his commandments, might observe;
8 In ne bodejo naj kakor njih pradedje, rod trdovraten in uporen; rod, kateri ni popravil srca svojega, in katerega duh ni bil stanoviten proti Bogu mogočnemu,
And not become, like their fathers, a generation stubborn and rebellious, —A generation that fixed not their heart, Neither was their spirit, faithful with GOD.
9 Kakor nasledniki Efrajmovi, kateri oboroženi streljajo z lokom in hrbte obračajo ob času bitve.
The sons of Ephraim—armed bowmen, Turned in the day of battle;
10 Ohranili niso zaveze Božje, in branili so se hoditi po zakonu njegovem,
They kept not the covenant of God, And, in his law, refused to walk;
11 Pozabivši dejanj njegovih, in čudovitih del njegovih, katera jim je bil pokazal.
And forgat His doings, And his wonders which he had showed them:
12 Pred pradedi njihovimi je delal čuda, v deželi Egiptovski, na polji Taniškem.
In presence of their fathers, wrought he, wondrously, —In the land of Egypt—the field of Zoan:
13 Razklal je bil morje, da jih je prepeljal čez, in postavil je vode, kakor kùp.
He clave the sea, and caused them to pass through, And reared up the waters like a mound;
14 In spremljal jih je z oblakom podnevi, in vso noč sè svetlim ognjem.
And led them, by a cloud, in the daytime, And all the night, by a light of fire;
15 Razklal je bil skale v puščavi, da bi pijačo pripravil v valovih preobilo.
He used to cleave rocks in the desert, And let them drink as out of mighty deeps;
16 Valove je izpeljal iz skale, in vode dol spuščal kakor reke.
And he brought forth streams out of the cliff, And caused waters to flow down, like rivers.
17 Vendar so dalje grešili še zoper njega, in dražili Najvišjega v sami suhi deželi.
But again, once more sinned they against him, Resisting the Most High in a land of drought:
18 In izkušajoč Boga mogočnega v srci svojem, térjali so jedi po svojega srca želji.
They put GOD to the proof in their heart, By asking food to their mind:
19 In grdo govoreč zoper Boga, rekli so: "Ali bi mogel Bog mogočni napraviti mizo v tej puščavi?
Yea they spake against Elohim, —They said, Can GOD prepare a table in the desert?
20 Glej, tako je udaril skalo, da so tekle vode, in potoki so se udrli, ali bi mogel dati tudi živeža? ali bi pripravil mesa svojemu ljudstvu?"
Lo! he hath smitten a rock, And waters, have gushed out, Yea, torrents, have rushed along, —Food also, can he give? Or provide flesh for his people?
21 Zato je Gospod slišal in se razjaril; in ogenj se je bil vnel zoper Jakoba, in jeza je tudi gorela zoper Izraela.
Therefore, Yahweh hearkened, and became wroth, —And, a fire, was kindled against Jacob, Moreover also, anger, mounted against Israel;
22 Ker niso verovali v Boga, in niso zaupali v blaginjo njegovo.
Because, They believed not in God, Nor trusted in his salvation;
23 Dasi je bil zapovedal gornjim oblakom zgoraj in odprl vrata nebeška,
Though he had commanded the skies above, And, the doors of the heavens, had opened;
24 In dežil nad nje máno za jed in dajal žito nebeško;
And had rained on them manna to eat, And, the corn of the heavens, had given to them:
25 Kruh najmočnejših je jedel vsak; popotnico jim je pošiljal do sitega.
The food of the mighty, each one did eat, Nourishment, sent he them to the full;
26 Zagnal je sever na nebesih, in z močjo svojo pripeljal jug.
He let loose an east wind in the heavens, Then guided he, in his might, a south wind;
27 Ko je dežil nad nje meso kakor prah, in kakor morski pések tiče krilate;
And rained upon them flesh as the dust, And, like the sand of the seas, birds of wing;
28 Metal jih je med šatore, okolo prebivališč svojih.
And let them fall in the midst of their camp, —Round about their habitations.
29 In jedli so in bili so nasiteni močno, in česar so poželeli, prinesel jim je.
So they did eat and were abundantly filled, When, what they longed for, he had brought them: —
30 Še niso bili iznebili se poželenja svojega, še je bila jed njih v njihovih ustih;
They had not turned away from what they had longed for, Yet was their food in their mouth,
31 Ko je jeza Božja goreča proti njim morila med najmočnejimi iz med njih in pokončavala mladeniče Izraelske.
When, the anger of God, mounted against them, And he slew of their vigorous youths, And, the choice young men of Israel, caused he to bow down in death.
32 Po vsem tem so še grešili in niso verovali zavoljo čudovitih dél njegovih.
For all this, sinned they still, And believed not in his wonders;
33 Zatorej je pogubljal v ničemurnosti njih dní, in njih leta v strahu.
So he ended, in a breath, their days, And their years, in a sudden terror!
34 Ko jih je pobijal, ako so popraševali po njem in izpreobrnivši se zjutraj iskali Boga mogočnega,
If he slew [of] them, then they sought him, Yea they turned, and did earnestly seek GOD;
35 Spomnivši se, da je bil Bog njih skala in Bog mogočni najvišji njih rešnik;
And remembered that, Elohim, was their rock, Yea, EL Most High, their Redeemer:
36 Če tudi so ga hoteli varati z usti svojimi, in so z jezikom svojim lagali se njemu,
So they spake him fair with their mouth, And, with their tongue, did promise him falsely;
37 In srce njihovo ni bilo obrneno proti njemu, in niso bili stanovitni v zavezi njegovi:
But, their heart, was not fixed with him, Nor were they trusty in his covenant:
38 Vendar je on usmiljen opíral krivico, tako da jih ni pogubil; in odvračal je svoj srd obilo, in ní vnemal vse jeze svoje,
Yet, he, full of compassion, would put a propitiatory-covering over iniquity, and not destroy, —Yea, many a time, turned he back his anger, And would not stir up all his wrath.
39 Spomnivši se, da so meso, veter, ki gre in se ne vrne.
So then he remembered, That, Flesh, they were, A Wind departing, that returneth not.
40 Kolikokrat so ga razdražili v puščavi; žalili so ga v samoti!
How often they, Resisted him in the desert, Vexed him, in the waste:
41 Ki so hitro izkušali Boga mogočnega, in žalili Svetega Izraelovega.
Yea they again put GOD to the test, And, to the Holy One of Israel, caused they sorrow:
42 Ne spomnivši se roke njegove, dné, ko jih je bil otél sovražnika.
They remembered not his hand—The day, When he ransomed them from the adversary;
43 Ko je v Egiptu delal znamenja svoja, in čuda svoja na polji Taniškem.
When he set, in Egypt, his signs, And his wonders, in the plain of Zoan;
44 Ko je v kri izpremenil njih potoke, in reke njih, da bi ne mogli piti.
When he turned, into blood, their Nile-streams, And, their own rivers, could they not drink;
45 Izpustil je nad njé živali krdelo, da bi jih pokončalo, in žabe, da jih uničijo.
He sent among them, The gad-fly, and it devoured them, And the frog, and it despoiled them;
46 In dal je njih sad murnu in kobilici njih delo.
When he gave to the corn-locust their produce, And their toil, to the swarming locust;
47 Pobil je s točo njih trte in smokve njih z ognjem, ki je pokončal vse, kamor je prišel.
He killed, with hail, their vine, And their sycomores, with frost:
48 Dal je tudi isti toči njih živali, in njih čede žarjavici ognjeni.
When he gave up, to hail-storms, their beasts, And their cattle, to pestilent fevers;
49 Izpustil je nad nje jeze svoje žar, srd in nevoljo in stisko, pošiljajoč oznanovalce nesreče.
He sent among them the heat of his anger, Wrath and indignation and distress, —A mission of messengers of misfortune:
50 Pretehtal je k jezi svoji pot, smrti ni ubranil njih življenja; in živali njih izročil je kugi.
He leveled a path for his anger, Withheld not, from death, their soul, But, their life—to the pestilence, he delivered:
51 In udaril je vse prvorojeno v Egiptu; prvino moči v šatorih Kamovih.
So he smote, Every first-born in Egypt, The beginning of their strength, in the tents of Ham;
52 In prepeljal je kakor ovce ljudstvo svoje, in vodil jih je kakor čede po puščavi.
And he set forth, like sheep, his people, And guided them, like a flock in the desert;
53 In peljal jih je varno tako, da se niso bali, potem ko je bilo morje pokrilo njih sovražnike.
Yea he led them securely, and they dreaded not, And, their enemies, the sea did cover.
54 Pripeljal jih je do meje svetosti svoje, gore té, katero je pridobila desnica njegova.
Then brought he them within his own holy bounds, The mountain-range, which his right hand made his own:
55 Izgnal je izpred njih obličja narode in storil, da so pripali vrvi posesti in prebivali so v njih šatorih Izraelovi rodovi.
So he drave out, before them, [whole] nations, And allotted them, by line, an inheritance, And caused to dwell, in their own homes, the tribes of Israel.
56 Vendar so izkušali in razdražili Boga najvišjega, in pričanj njegovih niso se držali.
But they tested and resisted God Most High, And, his testimonies, did not observe;
57 Temuč obrnili so se ter ravnali izdajalsko, kakor njih pradedje; obrnili so se kakor lok goljufen,
But drew back and dealt treacherously, like their fathers, They turned aside, like deceitful bowmen;
58 Ker dražili so ga z višinami svojimi in svojimi maliki, do ljubosumnosti so ga razvneli.
And provoked him to anger with their high places, And, with their images, used to move him to jealousy.
59 Slišal je Bog in se razsrdil, in zavrgel je silno Izraela.
God heard and was wroth, And greatly abhorred Israel;
60 Tako, da je zapustivši prebivališče v Silu, šator, katerega je bil postavil med ljudmi,
So he gave up the habitation of Shiloh, The tent he had set up among Men;
61 Dal v sužnjost svojo moč, in slavo svojo sovražniku v pest.
Yea he gave up, into captivity, his strength, And his beauty into the hand of an adversary;
62 In izročil je meču ljudstvo svoje, ker se je bil razsrdil zoper posestvo svoje.
And delivered up, to the sword, his people, And, with his own inheritance, was he wroth;
63 Ogenj je pokončal mladeniče njegove, in device njegove niso se hvalile.
His young men, were devoured by fire, And, his virgins, were not praised in song;
64 Duhovniki njegovi padli so pod mečem, in vdove njegove niso jokale.
His priests, by the sword, did fall, And, his widows, were not able to bewail.
65 Potem se je zbudil Gospod, kakor da bi bil spal, kakor korenjak, pojoč po vinu.
Then awoke, as one that had slept, Adonay, As a warrior exulting with wine!
66 In udaril je sovražnike svoje nazaj; sramoto večno jim je naložil.
So he smote his adversaries in the rear, Reproach age-abiding, laid he upon them.
67 Slednjič je zavrgel šator Jožefov in rodú Efrajmovega ni izvolil.
Howbeit he rejected the tent of Joseph, And, the tribe of Ephraim, did not choose:
68 Izvolil pa je rod Judov, goro Sijonsko, da bi jo ljubil.
But made choice of the tribe of Judah, The mountain of Zion, which he loved;
69 Zidal je enako najvišjim gradovom svetišče svoje, namreč v deželi, katero je utrdil.
And built, like the heights, his sanctuary, Like the earth, he founded it to times age-abiding.
70 In izvolil je Davida hlapca svojega, in vzel ga iz ograje čede,
And made choice of David his servant, And took him from among the folds of the sheep:
71 Peljal ga je od doječih, da bi pasel Jakoba, ljudstvo svoje in Izraela, posestvo svoje,
From after the sucking ewes, he brought him in, —To be shepherd to Jacob his people, And to Israel, his inheritance.
72 Kateri jih je pasel po poštenosti srca svojega, in vodil jih je z najvišjo razumnostjo svojih rok.
So he did shepherd them, according to the singleness of his heart, And, with the discernment of his hands, used he to guide them.
