1 Во оно же время возложи Ирод царь руце озлобити некия иже от церкве,
Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.
2 уби же Иакова, брата Иоаннова, мечем:
And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.
3 и видев, яко годе есть Иудеем, приложи яти и Петра: бяху же дние опресночнии:
And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)
4 егоже и емь всади в темницу, предав четырем четверицам воинов стрещи его, хотя по Пасце извести его к людем.
And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four squads of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.
5 И убо Петра стрежаху в темнице: молитва же бе прилежна бываемая от церкве к Богу о нем.
Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church to God for him.
6 Егда же хотяше его извести Ирод, в нощи той бе Петр спя между двема воинома, связан (железнома) ужема двема, стражие же пред дверьми стрежаху темницы.
And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.
7 И се, Ангел Господень предста, и свет возсия в храмине: толкнув же в ребра Петра, воздвиже его, глаголя: востани вскоре. И спадоша ему ужя (железная) с руку.
And, behold, the angel of the Lord came on him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.
8 Рече же Ангел к нему: препояшися и вступи в плесницы твоя. Сотвори же тако. И глагола ему: облецыся в ризу твою и последствуй ми.
And the angel said to him, Gird yourself, and bind on your sandals. And so he did. And he says to him, Cast your garment about you, and follow me.
9 И изшед вслед его идяше и не ведаше, яко истина есть бывшее от Ангела, мняше же видение зрети.
And he went out, and followed him; and knew not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.
10 Прошедша же первую стражу и вторую, приидоста ко вратом железным, вводящым во град, яже о себе отверзошася има: и изшедша преидоста стогну едину, и абие отступи Ангел от него.
When they were past the first and the second ward, they came to the iron gate that leads to the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and immediately the angel departed from him.
11 И Петр быв в себе, рече: ныне вем воистинну, яко посла Бог Ангела Своего и изят мя из руки Иродовы и от всего чаяния людий Иудейских.
And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the LORD has sent his angel, and has delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.
12 Смотрив же прииде в дом Марии матере Иоанна, нарицаемаго Марка, идеже бяху мнози собрани и молящеся.
And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying.
13 Толкнувшу же Петру во врата двора, приступи слышати отроковица, именем Роди,
And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel came to listen, named Rhoda.
14 и познавши глас Петров, от радости не отверзе врат, притекши же сказа Петра стояща пред враты.
And when she knew Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate.
15 Они же к ней реша: беснуешися ли? Она же крепляшеся тако быти. Они же глаголаху: Ангел его есть.
And they said to her, You are mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel.
16 Петр же пребываше толкий: отверзше же видеша его и ужасошася.
But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished.
17 Помаав же им рукою молчати, сказа им, како Господь его изведе из темницы: рече же: возвестите Иакову и братиям сия. И изшед иде во ино место.
But he, beckoning to them with the hand to hold their peace, declared to them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Go show these things to James, and to the brothers. And he departed, and went into another place.
18 Бывшу же дню, бе молва не мала в воинех, что убо Петру бысть:
Now as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers, what was become of Peter.
19 Ирод же, поискав его и не обрет и истязав стражы, повеле отвести их: и изшед от Иудеи в Кесарию, живяше.
And when Herod had sought for him, and found him not, he examined the keepers, and commanded that they should be put to death. And he went down from Judaea to Caesarea, and there stayed.
20 Бе же Ирод гневаяся на Тиряны и Сидоняны: иже единодушно приидоша к нему, и умоливше Власта постельника царева, прошаху мира, понеже страны их от царства его питахуся.
And Herod was highly displeased with them of Tyre and Sidon: but they came with one accord to him, and, having made Blastus the king’s chamberlain their friend, desired peace; because their country was nourished by the king’s country.
21 В нареченный же день Ирод, оболкся во одежду царску и сед на судище пред народом, глаголаше к ним,
And on a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat on his throne, and made an oration to them.
22 народ же возглашаше: глас Божий, а не человечь.
And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.
23 Внезапу же порази его Ангел Господень, зане не даде славы Богу: и быв червьми изяден, издше.
And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.
24 Слово же Божие растяше и множашеся.
But the word of God grew and multiplied.
25 Варнава же и Савл возвратистася из Иерусалима во Антиохию, исполнивша службу, поемша с собою и Иоанна, нарицаемаго Марка.
And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled their ministry, and took with them John, whose surname was Mark.
