And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles.
2 Varume vaitya Mwari vakaviga Sitefano, vakamuchema zvikuru.
And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.
3 Asi Sauro wakaparadza kereke, achipinda muimba imwe neimwe, achikakata varume nevakadzi nekukumikidza mutirongo.
As for Saul, he made havoc of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.
4 Naizvozvo avo vakange vaparadzirwa vakagura vachiparidza shoko.
Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word. (logos)
5 Firipi ndokuburukira kuguta reSamaria, akaparidza Kristu kwavari.
Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.
6 Zvaunga ndokuteerera nemoyo umwe kuzvinhu zvinotaurwa naFiripi, pavakanzwa nekuona zviratidzo zvaaiita.
And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spoke, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.
7 Nokuti mweya yetsvina yakabuda kuvazhinji vaiva vakabatwa, ichidanidzira nenzwi guru; nevazhinji vakange vakafa mitezo nevaikamhina vakaporeswa.
For unclean spirits, (pneuma) crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.
8 Zvino kwakava nemufaro mukuru muguta iro.
And there was great joy in that city.
9 Zvino umwe murume, wainzi Simoni, waimboita un'anga paguta, achishamisa rudzi rweSamaria, achizviti munhu mukuru;
But there was a certain man, called Simon, which in time past in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one:
10 wavaiteerera vese kubva kumudiki kusvika kumukuru, vachiti: Uyu isimba guru raMwari.
To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.
11 Zvino vaimuteerera, nokuti wakange avashamisa neun'anga nguva refu.
And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.
12 Zvino vakati vatenda Firipi achiparidza mashoko akanaka nezveushe hwaMwari uye nezvezita raJesu Kristu, vakabhabhatidzwa vese varume nevakadzi.
But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
13 NaSimoniwo pachake wakatenda, zvino wakati abhabhatidzwa, wakagara naFiripi; akashamisika, achiona mabasa esimba nezviratidzo zvaiitwa.
Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.
14 Zvino vaapositori vaiva paJerusarema vakati vanzwa kuti Samaria yagamuchira shoko raMwari, vakatumira kwavari Petro naJohwani;
Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word (logos) of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
15 ivo vakati vaburukirako vakavanyengeterera, kuti vagamuchire Mweya Mutsvene;
Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Spirit: (pneuma)
16 nokuti wakange asati aburukira pamusoro peumwe wavo, asi vakange vabhabhatidzwa muzita raIshe Jesu chete.
(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
17 Ipapo vakaisa maoko pamusoro pavo, zvino vakagamuchira Mweya Mutsvene.
Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit. (pneuma)
18 Zvino Simoni wakati aona kuti nekuiswa kwemaoko evaapositori Mweya Mutsvene waipiwa, akavavigira mari,
And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Spirit (pneuma) was given, he offered them money,
19 achiti: Ndipei neni simba iri, kuti pana ani nani wandinoisa maoko pamusoro, agamuchire Mweya Mutsvene.
Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Spirit. (pneuma)
20 Asi Petro wakati kwaari: Sirivheri yako pamwe newe ngazvive zvekuparadzwa, nokuti wafunga kuti chipo chaMwari chingawanikwa nemari.
But Peter said unto him, Your money perish with you, because you have thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.
21 Hauna mugove kana nhaka pashoko iri. Nokuti moyo wako hauna kururama pamberi paMwari.
You have neither part nor lot in this matter: (logos) for your heart is not right in the sight of God.
22 Naizvozvo tendeuka pakuipa kwako uku, ukumbirise Mwari, kuti zvimwe murangariro wemoyo wako uukanganwirwe.
Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you.
23 Nokuti ndinoona kuti uri munduru inovava, uye musungo weuipi.
For I perceive that you are in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.
24 Zvino Simoni akapindura akati: Ndikumbirirei imwi kuna Ishe, kuti pasava nechimwe chezvinhu zvamataura chingawira pamusoro pangu.
Then answered Simon, and said, Pray all of you to the LORD for me, that none of these things which all of you have spoken come upon me.
25 Naizvozvo vakati vapupura nekutaura shoko raIshe, vakadzokera kuJerusarema, uye vakaparidza evhangeri mumisha mizhinji yeVaSamaria.
And they, when they had testified and preached the word (logos) of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.
26 Zvino mutumwa waIshe wakataura kuna Firipi, achiti: Simuka, upfuurire kuchamhembe kunzira inoburuka kubva kuJerusarema ichienda kuGaza; iyo irenje.
And the angel of the Lord spoke unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goes down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.
27 Zvino wakasimuka akaenda; zvino tarira murume weEtiopia, mutenwa, gurukota guru raKandase mambokadzi weVaEtiopia, waiona nezvefuma yake yese, uye wakange auya kuJerusarema kuzonamata,
And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem in order to worship,
28 wakange achidzokera uye agere mungoro yake, achiverenga muporofita Isaya.
Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Isaiah the prophet.
29 Mweya ndokuti kuna Firipi: Swedera unamatire pangoro iyi.
Then the Spirit (pneuma) said unto Philip, Go near, and join yourself to this chariot.
30 Firipi ndokumhanyirako, akamunzwa achiverenga muporofita Isaya, ndokuti: Zvino unonzwisisa zvaunoverenga here?
And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Isaiah, and said, Understand you what you read?
31 Iye ndokuti: Zvino ndingagona sei, kunze kwekuti umwe munhu andirairira? Zvino akakumbira Firipi kuti akwire agare naye.
And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.
32 Zvino ndima yerugwaro yaaiverenga yaiva iyi: Wakatungamirirwa segwai rinoenda kunobaiwa; uye segwayana rinyerere pamberi pemuvevuri waro, saizvozvo haana kushamisa muromo wake.
The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:
33 Mukuninipiswa kwake mutongo wake wakabviswa, zvino ndiani acharondedzera zera rake? Nokuti upenyu hwake hunobviswa panyika.
In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.
34 Mutenwa ndokupindura Firipi akati: Ndinokukumbirisa, muporofita anoreva izvi maererano nani? Nezvake amene kana nezveumwewo?
And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray you, of whom speaks the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?
35 Firipi ndokuzarura muromo wake; akatanga parugwaro irworwo, ndokumuparidzira Jesu.
Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.
36 Zvino pavaifamba munzira, vakasvika pane imwe mvura; mutenwa ndokuti: Heyi mvura; chii chinondidzivirira kubhabhatidzwa?
And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what does hinder me to be baptized?
37 Firipi ndokuti: Kana uchitenda nemoyo wese, zvinotenderwa. Akapindura ndokuti: Ndinotenda kuti Jesu Kristu Mwanakomana waMwari.
And Philip said, If you believe with all of your heart, you may. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
38 Zvino akaraira ngoro kuti imire; ndokuburukira mumvura vari vaviri, Firipi nemutenwa; ndokumubhabhatidza.
And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
39 Zvino vakati vakwira kubva mumvura, Mweya waIshe wakabvuta Firipi; mutenwa ndokusazomuonazve; nokuti wakafamba nenzira yake achifara.
And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit (pneuma) of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.
40 Asi Firipi wakawanikwa paAzota; uye achipfuura wakaparidza evhangeri kumaguta ese, kusvikira asvika paKesariya.
But Philip was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached in all the cities, till he came to Caesarea.
