1 Солуњанима 5
1 А за часе и времена, браћо, није вам потребно писати;
But as to the times and the moments, there is no need, friends, for anyone to write to you.
2 Јер сами знате јамачно да ће дан Господњи доћи као лупеж по ноћи.
You yourselves know well that the day of the Lord will come just as a thief comes in the night.
3 Јер кад кажу: Мир је, и нема се шта бојати, онда ће изненада напасти на њих погибао као бол на трудну жену, и неће утећи.
When people are saying “All is quiet and safe,” it is then that, like birth pains on a pregnant woman, ruin comes suddenly upon them, and there will be no escape!
4 Али ви, браћо, нисте у тами да вас дан као лупеж застане.
You, however, friends, are not in darkness, that the daylight should take you by surprise as if you were thieves.
5 Јер сте ви сви синови видела и синови дана: нисмо ноћи нити таме.
For you all are children of light and children of the day. We have nothing to do with night, or darkness.
6 Тако дакле да не спавамо као и остали, него да пазимо и да будемо трезни.
Therefore let us not sleep as others do. No, let us be watchful and self-controlled.
7 Јер који спавају, у ноћи спавају, и који се опијају, у ноћи се опијају.
It is at night that people sleep, and at night that drunkards get drunk.
8 Али ми који смо синови дана да будемо трезни и обучени у оклоп вере и љубави, и с кацигом наде спасења;
But let us, who belong to the day, control ourselves, and put on faith and love as a breast plate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.
9 Јер нас Бог не постави за гнев, него да добијемо спасење кроз Господа свог Исуса Христа,
For God destined us, not for wrath, but to win salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us,
10 Који умре за нас да ми, стражили или спавали, заједно с Њим живимо.
that, whether we are still watching or have fallen asleep, we may live with him.
11 Тога ради утешавајте један другог, и поправљајте сваки ближњег, као што и чините.
Therefore encourage one another, and try to build up one another’s characters, as indeed you are doing.
12 Молимо вас пак, браћо, препознајте оне који се труде међу вама, и настојнике своје у Господу и учитеље своје,
We beg you, friends, to value those who toil among you, and are your leaders in the Lord’s service, and give you counsel.
13 И имајте их у изобилној љубави за дело њихово. Будите мирни међу собом.
Hold them in the very greatest esteem and affection for the sake of their work. Live at peace with one another.
14 Молимо вас пак, браћо, поучавајте неуредне, утешавајте малодушне, браните слабе, сносите сваког.
We entreat you also, friends – warn the disorderly, comfort the faint-hearted, give a helping hand to the weak, and be patient with everyone.
15 Гледајте да нико не враћа коме зла за зло;
Take care that none of you ever pays back wrong for wrong, but always follow the kindest course with one another and with everyone.
16 Него свагда идите за добрим, и међу собом, према свима.
Always be joyful;
17 Радујте се свагда.
never cease to pray;
18 Молите се Богу без престанка. На свачему захваљујте; јер је ово воља Божија у Христу Исусу од вас.
under all circumstances give thanks to God. For this is his will for you as made known in Christ Jesus.
19 Духа не гасите. Пророштва не презирите.
Do not quench the Spirit;
20 А све кушајући добро држите.
do not make light of preaching.
21 Уклањајте се од сваког зла.
Bring everything to the test; cling to what is good;
22 А сам Бог мира да посвети вас целе у свачему;
shun every form of evil.
23 И цео ваш дух и душа и тело да се сачува без кривице за долазак Господа нашег Исуса Христа.
May God himself, the giver of peace, make you altogether holy; and may your spirits, souls, and bodies be kept altogether faultless until the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Веран је Онај који вас дозва, који ће и учинити.
He who calls you will not fail you; he will complete his work.
25 Браћо! Молите се Богу за нас.
Friends, pray for us.
26 Поздравите браћу сву целивом светим.
Greet all the Lord’s followers with a sacred kiss.
27 Заклињем вас Господом да прочитате ову посланицу пред свом браћом светом.
I order you in the Lord’s name to have this letter read to all the brethren.
28 Благодат Господа нашег Исуса Христа с вама. Амин.
May the blessing of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
