1 Од Петра, апостола Исуса Христа, избраним дошљацима, расејаним по Понту, Галатији, Кападокији, Азији и Витанији;
Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, unto the chosen pilgrims of the dispersion, throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia, —
2 По провиђењу Бога Оца, светињом Духа доведеним у послушање и кропљење крви Исуса Христа: да вам се умножи благодат и мир.
[Chosen] according to the fore-knowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of Spirit, unto obedience and the sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ, Favour unto you, and peace, be multiplied!
3 Благословен Бог и Отац Господа нашег Исуса Христа, који нас по великој милости својој прероди за живу наду васкрсењем Исуса Христа из мртвих,
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who, according to his great mercy, hath regenerated us unto a living hope, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from among the dead,
4 За наследство непропадљиво, које неће иструхнути ни увенути, сачувано на небесима за вас,
Unto an inheritance, incorruptible and undefiled and unfading, reserved in the heavens for you
5 Које је сила Божија вером сачувала за спасење, приправљено да се јави у последње време;
who, in God’s power, are being guarded through faith unto salvation—ready to be revealed in the last ripe time:
6 Коме радујте се, премда сте сад мало (где је потребно) жалосни у различним напастима,
Wherein ye exult, though, for a little, just now, if needful, put to grief in manifold temptations,
7 Да се кушање ваше вере много вредније од злата пропадљивог које се куша огњем нађе на хвалу и част и славу, кад се покаже Исус Христос;
In order that the proving of your faith—much more precious than of gold that perisheth even though, by means of fire, it is proved—may be found unto praise and glory and honour in the revealing of Jesus Christ, —
8 Ког не видевши љубите и ког сад не гледајући но верујући Га радујете се радошћу неисказаном и прослављеном.
Whom, not having seen, ye love, on whom, though at present not looking, but believing, ye exult with joy unspeakable and filled with glory,
9 Примајући крај своје вере, спасење душама.
Being about to bear away the end of your faith—a salvation of souls:
10 Које спасење тражише и испитиваше за њ пророци, који за вашу благодат прорекоше;
Concerning which salvation, prophets—who concerning the favour for you, did prophesy—sought out and searched out,
11 Испитујући у какво или у које време јављаше Дух Христов у њима, напред сведочећи за Христове муке и за славе по томе;
Searching into what particular, or what manner, of season the Spirit of Christ which was in them was pointing to, when witnessing beforehand as to—The sufferings, for Christ, and the glories, after these, —
12 Којима се откри да не самим себи него нама служаху овим што вам се сад јави по онима који вам проповедише јеванђеље посланим с неба Духом Светим, у које анђели желе завирити.
Unto whom it was revealed—that, Not unto themselves, but unto us, they were ministering them, which things have, now, been announced unto you through them who have told you the good tidings with Holy Spirit sent forth from heaven: into which things messengers are coveting to obtain a nearer view.
13 Зато, љубазни, запрегнувши бедра свог ума будите трезни, и зацело се надајте благодати која ће вам се принети кад дође Исус Христос.
Wherefore, girding up the loins of your mind, keeping sober, perseveringly direct your hope unto the favour, being borne along to you, in the revealing of Jesus Christ:
14 Као послушна деца, не владајући се по првим жељама у свом незнању,
As obedient persons, not configuring yourselves unto your former covetings in your ignorance:
15 Него по Свецу који вас је позвао, и ви будите свети у свему живљењу.
But, according as he that hath called you is holy, do, ye yourselves, also become, holy in all manner of behaviour, —
16 Јер је писано: Будите свети, јер сам ја свет.
Inasmuch as it is written—Holy shall ye be, because, I, am holy.
17 И ако зовете Оцем Оног који, не гледајући ко је ко, суди свакоме по делу, проводите време свог живљења са страхом,
And, if, as Father, ye are invoking him who, without respect of persons, judgeth according to each man’s work, with reverence, for the time of your sojourning, behave ye;
18 Знајући да се пропадљивим сребром или златом не искуписте из сујетног свог живљења, које сте видели од отаца;
Knowing that, Not with corruptible things, with silver or gold, have ye been redeemed from your unmeaning behaviour paternally handed down,
19 Него скупоценом крвљу Христа, као безазленог и пречистог јагњета;
But with precious blood, as of a lamb, unblemished and unspotted, of an Anointed One, —
20 Који је одређен још пре постања света, а јавио се у последња времена вас ради,
Foreknown, indeed, before the foundation of the world, but made manifest at a last stage of the times, for the sake of you
21 Који кроз Њега верујете Бога који Га подиже из мртвих, и даде Му славу, да би ваша вера и надање било у Бога.
who, through him, are faithful towards God, —Who raised him from among the dead, and glory to him gave, So that your faith and hope are directed towards God:
22 Душе своје очистивши у послушању истине Духом за братољубље недволично, од чистог срца љубите добро један другог,
Having purified, your souls, by the obedience of the truth, unto unfeigned brotherly affection, from the heart, love, one another, earnestly;
23 Као прерођени не од семена које труне, него од оног које не труне, речју Живог Бога, која остаје довека. (aiōn g165)
Having been regenerated—Not out of corruptible seed, but incorruptible—through means of the word of a Living and Abiding God; (aiōn g165)
24 Јер је свако тело као трава, и свака слава човечија као цвет травни: осуши се трава, и цвет њен отпаде;
Inasmuch as—All flesh, is as grass, and, all the glory thereof, as the flower of grass, —The grass hath withered, and the flower hath fallen out,
