ரோமிண: 9
1 அஹம்’ காஞ்சித்³ கல்பிதாம்’ கதா²ம்’ ந கத²யாமி, க்²ரீஷ்டஸ்ய ஸாக்ஷாத் ஸத்யமேவ ப்³ரவீமி பவித்ரஸ்யாத்மந: ஸாக்ஷாந் மதீ³யம்’ மந ஏதத் ஸாக்ஷ்யம்’ த³தா³தி|
I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience bearing witness with me in the Holy Spirit,
2 மமாந்தரதிஸ²யது³: க²ம்’ நிரந்தரம்’ கே²த³ஸ்²ச
that I have great sorrow and unceasing pain in my heart.
3 தஸ்மாத்³ அஹம்’ ஸ்வஜாதீயப்⁴ராத்ரு’ணாம்’ நிமித்தாத் ஸ்வயம்’ க்²ரீஷ்டாச்சா²பாக்ராந்தோ ப⁴விதும் ஐச்ச²ம்|
For I could wish that I myself were anathema from Christ for my brethren’s sake, my kinsmen according to the flesh:
4 யதஸ்த இஸ்ராயேலஸ்ய வம்’ஸா² அபி ச த³த்தகபுத்ரத்வம்’ தேஜோ நியமோ வ்யவஸ்தா²தா³நம்’ மந்தி³ரே ப⁴ஜநம்’ ப்ரதிஜ்ஞா: பித்ரு’புருஷக³ணஸ்²சைதேஷு ஸர்வ்வேஷு தேஷாம் அதி⁴காரோ(அ)ஸ்தி|
who are Israelites; whose is the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service [of God], and the promises;
5 தத் கேவலம்’ நஹி கிந்து ஸர்வ்வாத்⁴யக்ஷ: ஸர்வ்வதா³ ஸச்சிதா³நந்த³ ஈஸ்²வரோ ய: க்²ரீஷ்ட: ஸோ(அ)பி ஸா²ரீரிகஸம்ப³ந்தே⁴ந தேஷாம்’ வம்’ஸ²ஸம்ப⁴வ: | (aiōn g165)
whose are the fathers, and of whom is Christ as concerning the flesh, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen. (aiōn g165)
6 ஈஸ்²வரஸ்ய வாக்யம்’ விப²லம்’ ஜாதம் இதி நஹி யத்காரணாத்³ இஸ்ராயேலோ வம்’ஸே² யே ஜாதாஸ்தே ஸர்வ்வே வஸ்துத இஸ்ராயேலீயா ந ப⁴வந்தி|
But [it is] not as though the word of God hath come to nought. For they are not all Israel, that are of Israel:
7 அபரம் இப்³ராஹீமோ வம்’ஸே² ஜாதா அபி ஸர்வ்வே தஸ்யைவ ஸந்தாநா ந ப⁴வந்தி கிந்து இஸ்ஹாகோ நாம்நா தவ வம்’ஸோ² விக்²யாதோ ப⁴விஷ்யதி|
neither, because they are Abraham’s seed, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.
8 அர்தா²த் ஸா²ரீரிகஸம்’ஸர்கா³த் ஜாதா: ஸந்தாநா யாவந்தஸ்தாவந்த ஏவேஸ்²வரஸ்ய ஸந்தாநா ந ப⁴வந்தி கிந்து ப்ரதிஸ்²ரவணாத்³ யே ஜாயந்தே தஏவேஸ்²வரவம்’ஸோ² க³ண்யதே|
That is, it is not the children of the flesh that are children of God; but the children of the promise are reckoned for a seed.
9 யதஸ்தத்ப்ரதிஸ்²ருதே ர்வாக்யமேதத், ஏதாத்³ரு’ஸே² ஸமயே (அ)ஹம்’ புநராக³மிஷ்யாமி தத்பூர்வ்வம்’ ஸாராயா: புத்ர ஏகோ ஜநிஷ்யதே|
For this is a word of promise, According to this season will I come, and Sarah shall have a son.
10 அபரமபி வதா³மி ஸ்வமநோ(அ)பி⁴லாஷத ஈஸ்²வரேண யந்நிரூபிதம்’ தத் கர்ம்மதோ நஹி கிந்த்வாஹ்வயிது ர்ஜாதமேதத்³ யதா² ஸித்³த்⁴யதி
And not only so; but Rebecca also having conceived by one, [even] by our father Isaac—
11 தத³ர்த²ம்’ ரிப்³காநாமிகயா யோஷிதா ஜநைகஸ்மாத்³ அர்தா²த்³ அஸ்மாகம் இஸ்ஹாக: பூர்வ்வபுருஷாத்³ க³ர்பே⁴ த்⁴ரு’தே தஸ்யா: ஸந்தாநயோ: ப்ரஸவாத் பூர்வ்வம்’ கிஞ்ச தயோ: ஸு²பா⁴ஸு²ப⁴கர்ம்மண: கரணாத் பூர்வ்வம்’
for [the children] being not yet born, neither having done anything good or bad, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth,
12 தாம்’ ப்ரதீத³ம்’ வாக்யம் உக்தம்’, ஜ்யேஷ்ட²: கநிஷ்ட²ம்’ ஸேவிஷ்யதே,
it was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.
13 யதா² லிகி²தம் ஆஸ்தே, ததா²ப்யேஷாவி ந ப்ரீத்வா யாகூபி³ ப்ரீதவாந் அஹம்’|
Even as it is written, Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.
14 தர்ஹி வயம்’ கிம்’ ப்³ரூம: ? ஈஸ்²வர: கிம் அந்யாயகாரீ? ததா² ந ப⁴வது|
What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.
15 யத: ஸ ஸ்வயம்’ மூஸாம் அவத³த்; அஹம்’ யஸ்மிந் அநுக்³ரஹம்’ சிகீர்ஷாமி தமேவாநுக்³ரு’ஹ்லாமி, யஞ்ச த³யிதும் இச்சா²மி தமேவ த³யே|
For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.
16 அதஏவேச்ச²தா யதமாநேந வா மாநவேந தந்ந ஸாத்⁴யதே த³யாகாரிணேஸ்²வரேணைவ ஸாத்⁴யதே|
So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that hath mercy.
17 பி²ரௌணி ஸா²ஸ்த்ரே லிக²தி, அஹம்’ த்வத்³த்³வாரா மத்பராக்ரமம்’ த³ர்ஸ²யிதும்’ ஸர்வ்வப்ரு’தி²வ்யாம்’ நிஜநாம ப்ரகாஸ²யிதுஞ்ச த்வாம்’ ஸ்தா²பிதவாந்|
For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, For this very purpose did I raise thee up, that I might show in thee my power, and that my name might be published abroad in all the earth.
18 அத: ஸ யம் அநுக்³ரஹீதும் இச்ச²தி தமேவாநுக்³ரு’ஹ்லாதி, யஞ்ச நிக்³ரஹீதும் இச்ச²தி தம்’ நிக்³ரு’ஹ்லாதி|
So then he hath mercy on whom he will, and whom he will he hardeneth.
19 யதி³ வத³ஸி தர்ஹி ஸ தோ³ஷம்’ குதோ க்³ரு’ஹ்லாதி? ததீ³யேச்சா²யா: ப்ரதிப³ந்த⁴கத்வம்’ கர்த்தம்’ கஸ்ய ஸாமர்த்²யம்’ வித்³யதே?
Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he still find fault? For who withstandeth his will?
20 ஹே ஈஸ்²வரஸ்ய ப்ரதிபக்ஷ மர்த்ய த்வம்’ க: ? ஏதாத்³ரு’ஸ²ம்’ மாம்’ குத: ஸ்ரு’ஷ்டவாந்? இதி கதா²ம்’ ஸ்ரு’ஷ்டவஸ்து ஸ்ரஷ்ட்ரே கிம்’ கத²யிஷ்யதி?
Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why didst thou make me thus?
21 ஏகஸ்மாந் ம்ரு’த்பிண்டா³த்³ உத்க்ரு’ஷ்டாபக்ரு’ஷ்டௌ த்³விவிதௌ⁴ கலஸௌ² கர்த்தும்’ கிம்’ குலாலஸ்ய ஸாமர்த்²யம்’ நாஸ்தி?
Or hath not the potter a right over the clay, from the same lump to make one part a vessel unto honor, and another unto dishonor?
22 ஈஸ்²வர: கோபம்’ ப்ரகாஸ²யிதும்’ நிஜஸ²க்திம்’ ஜ்ஞாபயிதுஞ்சேச்ச²ந் யதி³ விநாஸ²ஸ்ய யோக்³யாநி க்ரோத⁴பா⁴ஜநாநி ப்ரதி ப³ஹுகாலம்’ தீ³ர்க⁴ஸஹிஷ்ணுதாம் ஆஸ்²ரயதி;
What if God, willing to show his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering vessels of wrath fitted unto destruction:
23 அபரஞ்ச விப⁴வப்ராப்த்யர்த²ம்’ பூர்வ்வம்’ நியுக்தாந்யநுக்³ரஹபாத்ராணி ப்ரதி நிஜவிப⁴வஸ்ய பா³ஹுல்யம்’ ப்ரகாஸ²யிதும்’ கேவலயிஹூதி³நாம்’ நஹி பி⁴ந்நதே³ஸி²நாமபி மத்⁴யாத்³
and that he might make known the riches of his glory upon vessels of mercy, which he afore prepared unto glory,
24 அஸ்மாநிவ தாந்யாஹ்வயதி தத்ர தவ கிம்’?
[even] us, whom he also called, not from the Jews only, but also from the Gentiles?
25 ஹோஸே²யக்³ரந்தே² யதா² லிகி²தம் ஆஸ்தே, யோ லோகோ மம நாஸீத் தம்’ வதி³ஷ்யாமி மதீ³யகம்’| யா ஜாதி ர்மே(அ)ப்ரியா சாஸீத் தாம்’ வதி³ஷ்யாம்யஹம்’ ப்ரியாம்’|
As he saith also in Hosea, I will call that my people, which was not my people; And her beloved, that was not beloved.
26 யூயம்’ மதீ³யலோகா ந யத்ரேதி வாக்யமௌச்யத| அமரேஸ²ஸ்ய ஸந்தாநா இதி க்²யாஸ்யந்தி தத்ர தே|
And it shall be, [that] in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, There shall they be called sons of the living God.
27 இஸ்ராயேலீயலோகேஷு யிஸா²யியோ(அ)பி வாசமேதாம்’ ப்ராசாரயத், இஸ்ராயேலீயவம்’ஸா²நாம்’ யா ஸம்’க்²யா ஸா து நிஸ்²சிதம்’| ஸமுத்³ரஸிகதாஸம்’க்²யாஸமாநா யதி³ ஜாயதே| ததா²பி கேவலம்’ லோகைரல்பைஸ்த்ராணம்’ வ்ரஜிஷ்யதே|
And Isaiah crieth concerning Israel, If the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, it is the remnant that shall be saved:
28 யதோ ந்யாயேந ஸ்வம்’ கர்ம்ம பரேஸ²: ஸாத⁴யிஷ்யதி| தே³ஸே² ஸஏவ ஸம்’க்ஷேபாந்நிஜம்’ கர்ம்ம கரிஷ்யதி|
for the Lord will execute [his] word upon the earth, finishing it and cutting it short.
29 யிஸா²யியோ(அ)பரமபி கத²யாமாஸ, ஸைந்யாத்⁴யக்ஷபரேஸே²ந சேத் கிஞ்சிந்நோத³ஸி²ஷ்யத| ததா³ வயம்’ ஸிதோ³மேவாப⁴விஷ்யாம விநிஸ்²சிதம்’| யத்³வா வயம் அமோராயா அக³மிஷ்யாம துல்யதாம்’|
And, as Isaiah hath said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, We had become as Sodom, and had been made like unto Gomorrah.
30 தர்ஹி வயம்’ கிம்’ வக்ஷ்யாம: ? இதரதே³ஸீ²யா லோகா அபி புண்யார்த²ம் அயதமாநா விஸ்²வாஸேந புண்யம் அலப⁴ந்த;
What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, who followed not after righteousness, attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith:
31 கிந்த்விஸ்ராயேல்லோகா வ்யவஸ்தா²பாலநேந புண்யார்த²ம்’ யதமாநாஸ்தந் நாலப⁴ந்த|
but Israel, following after a law of righteousness, did not arrive at [that] law.
32 தஸ்ய கிம்’ காரணம்’? தே விஸ்²வாஸேந நஹி கிந்து வ்யவஸ்தா²யா: க்ரியயா சேஷ்டித்வா தஸ்மிந் ஸ்க²லநஜநகே பாஷாணே பாத³ஸ்க²லநம்’ ப்ராப்தா: |
Wherefore? Because [they sought it] not by faith, but as it were by works. They stumbled at the stone of stumbling;
33 லிகி²தம்’ யாத்³ரு’ஸ²ம் ஆஸ்தே, பஸ்²ய பாத³ஸ்க²லார்த²ம்’ ஹி ஸீயோநி ப்ரஸ்தரந்ததா²| பா³தா⁴காரஞ்ச பாஷாணம்’ பரிஸ்தா²பிதவாநஹம்| விஸ்²வஸிஷ்யதி யஸ்தத்ர ஸ ஜநோ ந த்ரபிஷ்யதே|
even as it is written, Behold, I lay in Zion a stone of stumbling and a rock of offence: And he that believeth on him shall not be put to shame.
