லூக: 23
1 தத: ஸபா⁴ஸ்தா²: ஸர்வ்வலோகா உத்தா²ய தம்’ பீலாதஸம்முக²ம்’ நீத்வாப்ரோத்³ய வக்துமாரேபி⁴ரே,
The whole council rose and took him to Pilate.
2 ஸ்வமபி⁴ஷிக்தம்’ ராஜாநம்’ வத³ந்தம்’ கைமரராஜாய கரதா³நம்’ நிஷேத⁴ந்தம்’ ராஜ்யவிபர்ய்யயம்’ குர்த்தும்’ ப்ரவர்த்தமாநம் ஏந ப்ராப்தா வயம்’|
There they started to accuse him. “We found this man deceiving our nation, telling people not to pay taxes to Caesar, and claiming he is Messiah, a king,” they said.
3 ததா³ பீலாதஸ்தம்’ ப்ரு’ஷ்டவாந் த்வம்’ கிம்’ யிஹூதீ³யாநாம்’ ராஜா? ஸ ப்ரத்யுவாச த்வம்’ ஸத்யமுக்தவாந்|
“Are you the King of the Jews?” Pilate asked him. “So you say,” replied Jesus.
4 ததா³ பீலாத: ப்ரதா⁴நயாஜகாதி³லோகாந் ஜகா³த்³, அஹமேதஸ்ய கமப்யபராத⁴ம்’ நாப்தவாந்|
Then Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds, “I don't find this man guilty of any crime.”
5 ததஸ்தே புந: ஸாஹமிநோ பூ⁴த்வாவத³ந், ஏஷ கா³லீல ஏதத்ஸ்தா²நபர்ய்யந்தே ஸர்வ்வஸ்மிந் யிஹூதா³தே³ஸே² ஸர்வ்வால்லோகாநுபதி³ஸ்²ய குப்ரவ்ரு’த்திம்’ க்³ராஹீதவாந்|
But they insisted, saying, “He is inciting rebellion all over Judea with his teachings, from Galilee to right here in Jerusalem.”
6 ததா³ பீலாதோ கா³லீலப்ரதே³ஸ²ஸ்ய நாம ஸ்²ருத்வா பப்ரச்ச², கிமயம்’ கா³லீலீயோ லோக: ?
When he heard this, Pilate asked, “Is this man a Galilean?”
7 தத: ஸ கா³லீல்ப்ரதே³ஸீ²யஹேரோத்³ராஜஸ்ய ததா³ ஸ்தி²தேஸ்தஸ்ய ஸமீபே யீஸு²ம்’ ப்ரேஷயாமாஸ|
When he discovered that Jesus came under Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod who was also in Jerusalem at the time.
8 ததா³ ஹேரோத்³ யீஸு²ம்’ விலோக்ய ஸந்துதோஷ, யத: ஸ தஸ்ய ப³ஹுவ்ரு’த்தாந்தஸ்²ரவணாத் தஸ்ய கிஞிசதா³ஸ்²சர்ய்யகர்ம்ம பஸ்²யதி இத்யாஸா²ம்’ க்ரு’த்வா ப³ஹுகாலமாரப்⁴ய தம்’ த்³ரஷ்டும்’ ப்ரயாஸம்’ க்ரு’தவாந்|
Herod was very pleased to see Jesus since he had wanted to meet him for a long time. He had heard about Jesus and was hoping to see him perform a miracle.
9 தஸ்மாத் தம்’ ப³ஹுகதா²: பப்ரச்ச² கிந்து ஸ தஸ்ய கஸ்யாபி வாக்யஸ்ய ப்ரத்யுத்தரம்’ நோவாச|
He asked Jesus many questions, but Jesus did not answer him at all.
10 அத² ப்ரதா⁴நயாஜகா அத்⁴யாபகாஸ்²ச ப்ரோத்திஷ்ட²ந்த: ஸாஹஸேந தமபவதி³தும்’ ப்ராரேபி⁴ரே|
The chief priests and religious teachers stood there, angrily accusing him.
11 ஹேரோத்³ தஸ்ய ஸேநாக³ணஸ்²ச தமவஜ்ஞாய உபஹாஸத்வேந ராஜவஸ்த்ரம்’ பரிதா⁴ப்ய புந: பீலாதம்’ ப்ரதி தம்’ ப்ராஹிணோத்|
Herod and his soldiers treated Jesus with contempt and mocked him. Then they placed a royal robe on him and sent him back to Pilate.
12 பூர்வ்வம்’ ஹேரோத்³பீலாதயோ: பரஸ்பரம்’ வைரபா⁴வ ஆஸீத் கிந்து தத்³தி³நே த்³வயோ ர்மேலநம்’ ஜாதம்|
From that day on Herod and Pilate were friends—before that they had been enemies.
13 பஸ்²சாத் பீலாத: ப்ரதா⁴நயாஜகாந் ஸா²ஸகாந் லோகாம்’ஸ்²ச யுக³பதா³ஹூய ப³பா⁴ஷே,
Pilate called together the chief priests, rulers, and the people,
14 ராஜ்யவிபர்ய்யயகாரகோயம் இத்யுக்த்வா மநுஷ்யமேநம்’ மம நிகடமாநைஷ்ட கிந்து பஸ்²யத யுஷ்மாகம்’ ஸமக்ஷம் அஸ்ய விசாரம்’ க்ரு’த்வாபி ப்ரோக்தாபவாதா³நுரூபேணாஸ்ய கோப்யபராத⁴: ஸப்ரமாணோ ந ஜாத: ,
and told them, “You brought this man before me, accusing him of inciting the people to rebellion. I've carefully examined him in your presence, and do not find him guilty of the charges you have brought against him.
15 யூயஞ்ச ஹேரோத³: ஸந்நிதௌ⁴ ப்ரேஷிதா மயா தத்ராஸ்ய கோப்யபராத⁴ஸ்தேநாபி ந ப்ராப்த: | பஸ்²யதாநேந வத⁴ஹேதுகம்’ கிமபி நாபராத்³த⁴ம்’|
Neither did Herod, for he sent him back to us. He has done nothing that demands he should be put to death.
16 தஸ்மாதே³நம்’ தாட³யித்வா விஹாஸ்யாமி|
So I will have him flogged and then release him.”
17 தத்ரோத்ஸவே தேஷாமேகோ மோசயிதவ்ய: |
18 இதி ஹேதோஸ்தே ப்ரோச்சைரேகதா³ ப்ரோசு: , ஏநம்’ தூ³ரீக்ரு’த்ய ப³ரப்³பா³நாமாநம்’ மோசய|
But they all shouted together, “Kill this man, and release Barabbas to us.”
19 ஸ ப³ரப்³பா³ நக³ர உபப்லவவதா⁴பராதா⁴ப்⁴யாம்’ காராயாம்’ ப³த்³த⁴ ஆஸீத்|
(Barabbas had been put in prison for taking part in a rebellion in the city, and for murder.)
20 கிந்து பீலாதோ யீஸு²ம்’ மோசயிதும்’ வாஞ்ச²ந் புநஸ்தாநுவாச|
Pilate wanted to release Jesus, so spoke to them again.
21 ததா²ப்யேநம்’ க்ருஸே² வ்யத⁴ க்ருஸே² வ்யதே⁴தி வத³ந்தஸ்தே ருருவு: |
But they kept on shouting, “Crucify him! Crucify him!”
22 தத: ஸ த்ரு’தீயவாரம்’ ஜகா³த³ குத: ? ஸ கிம்’ கர்ம்ம க்ரு’தவாந்? நாஹமஸ்ய கமபி வதா⁴பராத⁴ம்’ ப்ராப்த: கேவலம்’ தாட³யித்வாமும்’ த்யஜாமி|
Pilate asked them for the third time, “But why? What crime has he committed? I don't find any reason for executing him. So I will have him flogged and then release him.”
23 ததா²பி தே புநரேநம்’ க்ருஸே² வ்யத⁴ இத்யுக்த்வா ப்ரோச்சைர்த்³ரு’ட⁴ம்’ ப்ரார்த²யாஞ்சக்ரிரே;
But they continued insisting with loud shouts, demanding that he be crucified. Their shouting succeeded,
24 தத: ப்ரதா⁴நயாஜகாதீ³நாம்’ கலரவே ப்ரப³லே ஸதி தேஷாம்’ ப்ரார்த²நாரூபம்’ கர்த்தும்’ பீலாத ஆதி³தே³ஸ²|
and Pilate gave the sentence they demanded.
25 ராஜத்³ரோஹவத⁴யோரபராதே⁴ந காராஸ்த²ம்’ யம்’ ஜநம்’ தே யயாசிரே தம்’ மோசயித்வா யீஸு²ம்’ தேஷாமிச்சா²யாம்’ ஸமார்பயத்|
He released the man imprisoned for rebellion and murder, but he sent Jesus to be put to death in accordance with their demands.
26 அத² தே யீஸு²ம்’ க்³ரு’ஹீத்வா யாந்தி, ஏதர்ஹி க்³ராமாதா³க³தம்’ ஸி²மோநநாமாநம்’ குரீணீயம்’ ஜநம்’ த்⁴ரு’த்வா யீஸோ²: பஸ்²சாந்நேதும்’ தஸ்ய ஸ்கந்தே⁴ க்ருஸ²மர்பயாமாஸு: |
As the soldiers led him away, they seized a man called Simon of Cyrene, who had come in from the countryside. They put the cross on him and made him carry it behind Jesus.
27 ததோ லோகாரண்யமத்⁴யே ப³ஹுஸ்த்ரியோ ருத³த்யோ விலபந்த்யஸ்²ச யீஸோ²: பஸ்²சாத்³ யயு: |
A large crowd followed him, along with women who were mourning and lamenting him.
28 கிந்து ஸ வ்யாகு⁴ட்ய தா உவாச, ஹே யிரூஸா²லமோ நார்ய்யோ யுயம்’ மத³ர்த²ம்’ ந ருதி³த்வா ஸ்வார்த²ம்’ ஸ்வாபத்யார்த²ஞ்ச ருதி³தி;
Jesus turned to them and said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, don't weep for me. Weep for yourselves and your children.
29 பஸ்²யத ய: கதா³பி க³ர்ப⁴வத்யோ நாப⁴வந் ஸ்தந்யஞ்ச நாபாயயந் தாத்³ரு’ஸீ² ர்வந்த்⁴யா யதா³ த⁴ந்யா வக்ஷ்யந்தி ஸ கால ஆயாதி|
For the time is coming when they'll say, ‘Happy are those who are childless, and those who never had babies, and those who never nursed them.’
30 ததா³ ஹே ஸை²லா அஸ்மாகமுபரி பதத, ஹே உபஸை²லா அஸ்மாநாச்சா²த³யத கதா²மீத்³ரு’ஸீ²ம்’ லோகா வக்ஷ்யந்தி|
They'll say to the mountains, ‘Fall down on us,’ and to the hills, ‘Cover us.’
31 யத: ஸதேஜஸி ஸா²கி²நி சேதே³தத்³ க⁴டதே தர்ஹி ஸு²ஷ்கஸா²கி²நி கிம்’ ந க⁴டிஷ்யதே?
For if they do this to wood that is green, what will happen when it's dried out?”
32 ததா³ தே ஹந்தும்’ த்³வாவபராதி⁴நௌ தேந ஸார்த்³த⁴ம்’ நிந்யு: |
They also took two others who were criminals to be executed with him.
33 அபரம்’ ஸி²ர: கபாலநாமகஸ்தா²நம்’ ப்ராப்ய தம்’ க்ருஸே² விவிது⁴: ; தத்³த்³வயோரபராதி⁴நோரேகம்’ தஸ்ய த³க்ஷிணோ தத³ந்யம்’ வாமே க்ருஸே² விவிது⁴: |
When they reached the place called the Skull they crucified him together with the criminals, one on his right, and the other on his left.
34 ததா³ யீஸு²ரகத²யத், ஹே பிதரேதாந் க்ஷமஸ்வ யத ஏதே யத் கர்ம்ம குர்வ்வந்தி தந் ந விது³: ; பஸ்²சாத்தே கு³டிகாபாதம்’ க்ரு’த்வா தஸ்ய வஸ்த்ராணி விப⁴ஜ்ய ஜக்³ரு’ஹு: |
Jesus said, “Father, please forgive them, for they don't know what they're doing.” They divided up his clothes by throwing dice for them.
35 தத்ர லோகஸம்’க⁴ஸ்திஷ்ட²ந் த³த³ர்ஸ²; தே தேஷாம்’ ஸா²ஸகாஸ்²ச தமுபஹஸ்ய ஜக³து³: , ஏஷ இதராந் ரக்ஷிதவாந் யதீ³ஸ்²வரேணாபி⁴ருசிதோ (அ)பி⁴ஷிக்தஸ்த்ராதா ப⁴வதி தர்ஹி ஸ்வமது⁴நா ரக்ஷது|
The people stood and watched and the leaders sneered at Jesus. “He saved others, let him save himself, if he is really God's Messiah, the Chosen One,” they said.
36 தத³ந்ய: ஸேநாக³ணா ஏத்ய தஸ்மை அம்லரஸம்’ த³த்வா பரிஹஸ்ய ப்ரோவாச,
The soldiers also mocked him, coming up to him and offering him wine vinegar, saying,
37 சேத்த்வம்’ யிஹூதீ³யாநாம்’ ராஜாஸி தர்ஹி ஸ்வம்’ ரக்ஷ|
“If you're the King of the Jews, then save yourself.”
38 யிஹூதீ³யாநாம்’ ராஜேதி வாக்யம்’ யூநாநீயரோமீயேப்³ரீயாக்ஷரை ர்லிகி²தம்’ தச்சி²ரஸ ஊர்த்³த்⁴வே(அ)ஸ்தா²ப்யத|
Above Jesus was a sign on which it was written, “This is the King of the Jews.”
39 ததோ³ப⁴யபார்ஸ்²வயோ ர்வித்³தௌ⁴ யாவபராதி⁴நௌ தயோரேகஸ்தம்’ விநிந்த்³ய ப³பா⁴ஷே, சேத்த்வம் அபி⁴ஷிக்தோஸி தர்ஹி ஸ்வமாவாஞ்ச ரக்ஷ|
One of the criminals hanging there joined in the insults against Jesus. “Aren't you the Messiah?” he asked. “Then save yourself—and us too!”
40 கிந்த்வந்யஸ்தம்’ தர்ஜயித்வாவத³த், ஈஸ்²வராத்தவ கிஞ்சித³பி ப⁴யம்’ நாஸ்தி கிம்’? த்வமபி ஸமாநத³ண்டோ³ஸி,
But the other criminal disagreed and argued with him, “Don't you fear God even when you're suffering the same punishment?” he asked.
41 யோக்³யபாத்ரே ஆவாம்’ ஸ்வஸ்வகர்ம்மணாம்’ ஸமுசிதப²லம்’ ப்ராப்நுவ: கிந்த்வநேந கிமபி நாபராத்³த⁴ம்’|
“For us the sentence is right since we're being punished for what we did, but this man didn't do anything wrong.”
42 அத² ஸ யீஸு²ம்’ ஜகா³த³ ஹே ப்ரபே⁴ ப⁴வாந் ஸ்வராஜ்யப்ரவேஸ²காலே மாம்’ ஸ்மரது|
Then he said, “Jesus, please remember me when you come into your kingdom.”
43 ததா³ யீஸு²: கதி²தவாந் த்வாம்’ யதா²ர்த²ம்’ வதா³மி த்வமத்³யைவ மயா ஸார்த்³த⁴ம்’ பரலோகஸ்ய ஸுக²ஸ்தா²நம்’ ப்ராப்ஸ்யஸி|
Jesus replied, “I promise you today you will be with me in paradise.”
44 அபரஞ்ச த்³விதீயயாமாத் த்ரு’தீயயாமபர்ய்யந்தம்’ ரவேஸ்தேஜஸோந்தர்ஹிதத்வாத் ஸர்வ்வதே³ஸோ²(அ)ந்த⁴காரேணாவ்ரு’தோ
By this time it was around noon and darkness fell over the whole land until three in the afternoon.
45 மந்தி³ரஸ்ய யவநிகா ச சி²த்³யமாநா த்³விதா⁴ ப³பூ⁴வ|
The sun's light was shut out, and the Temple veil was torn in two.
46 ததோ யீஸு²ருச்சைருவாச, ஹே பித ர்மமாத்மாநம்’ தவ கரே ஸமர்பயே, இத்யுக்த்வா ஸ ப்ராணாந் ஜஹௌ|
Jesus called out in a loud voice, “Father, I place myself in your hands.” Having said this he breathed his last.
47 ததை³தா க⁴டநா த்³ரு’ஷ்ட்வா ஸ²தஸேநாபதிரீஸ்²வரம்’ த⁴ந்யமுக்த்வா கதி²தவாந் அயம்’ நிதாந்தம்’ ஸாது⁴மநுஷ்ய ஆஸீத்|
When the centurion saw what had happened he praised God and said, “Surely this man was innocent.”
48 அத² யாவந்தோ லோகா த்³ரஷ்டும் ஆக³தாஸ்தே தா க⁴டநா த்³ரு’ஷ்ட்வா வக்ஷ: ஸு கராகா⁴தம்’ க்ரு’த்வா வ்யாசுட்ய க³தா: |
When all the crowds that had come to watch saw what happened they went home beating their chests in grief.
49 யீஸோ² ர்ஜ்ஞாதயோ யா யா யோஷிதஸ்²ச கா³லீலஸ்தேந ஸார்த்³த⁴மாயாதாஸ்தா அபி தூ³ரே ஸ்தி²த்வா தத் ஸர்வ்வம்’ த³த்³ரு’ஸு²: |
But all those who knew Jesus, including the women who'd followed him from Galilee, watched from a distance.
50 ததா³ யிஹூதீ³யாநாம்’ மந்த்ரணாம்’ க்ரியாஞ்சாஸம்மந்யமாந ஈஸ்²வரஸ்ய ராஜத்வம் அபேக்ஷமாணோ
There was a man called Joseph who was good and honest. He was a member of the council,
51 யிஹூதி³தே³ஸீ²யோ (அ)ரிமதீ²யநக³ரீயோ யூஷப்²நாமா மந்த்ரீ ப⁴த்³ரோ தா⁴ர்ம்மிகஸ்²ச புமாந்
but he hadn't agreed with its decisions and actions. He came from the Jewish town of Arimathea, and was waiting expectantly for the kingdom of God.
52 பீலாதாந்திகம்’ க³த்வா யீஸோ² ர்தே³ஹம்’ யயாசே|
Joseph went to Pilate and asked for Jesus' body.
53 பஸ்²சாத்³ வபுரவரோஹ்ய வாஸஸா ஸம்’வேஷ்ட்ய யத்ர கோபி மாநுஷோ நாஸ்தா²ப்யத தஸ்மிந் ஸை²லே ஸ்வாதே ஸ்²மஸா²நே தத³ஸ்தா²பயத்|
Once he'd taken it down, he wrapped it in a linen cloth. He laid Jesus in an unused tomb cut into the rock.
54 தத்³தி³நமாயோஜநீயம்’ தி³நம்’ விஸ்²ராமவாரஸ்²ச ஸமீப: |
It was preparation day and the Sabbath would soon begin.
55 அபரம்’ யீஸு²நா ஸார்த்³த⁴ம்’ கா³லீல ஆக³தா யோஷித: பஸ்²சாதி³த்வா ஸ்²மஸா²நே தத்ர யதா² வபு: ஸ்தா²பிதம்’ தச்ச த்³ரு’ஷ்ட்வா
The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee had followed Joseph and had seen the tomb where Jesus' body had been laid.
56 வ்யாகு⁴ட்ய ஸுக³ந்தி⁴த்³ரவ்யதைலாநி க்ரு’த்வா விதி⁴வத்³ விஸ்²ராமவாரே விஸ்²ராமம்’ சக்ரு: |
They returned home and prepared spices and ointments. But on the Sabbath they rested, observing the commandment.
