ப்ரேரிதா: 23
1 ஸபா⁴ஸத்³லோகாந் ப்ரதி பௌலோ(அ)நந்யத்³ரு’ஷ்ட்யா பஸ்²யந் அகத²யத், ஹே ப்⁴ராத்ரு’க³ணா அத்³ய யாவத் ஸரலேந ஸர்வ்வாந்த: கரணேநேஸ்²வரஸ்ய ஸாக்ஷாத்³ ஆசராமி|
Paul, looking steadfastly at the council, said, “Brothers, I have lived before God in all good conscience until today.”
2 அநேந ஹநாநீயநாமா மஹாயாஜகஸ்தம்’ கபோலே சபேடேநாஹந்தும்’ ஸமீபஸ்த²லோகாந் ஆதி³ஷ்டவாந்|
The high priest, Ananias, commanded those who stood by him to strike him on the mouth.
3 ததா³ பௌலஸ்தமவத³த், ஹே ப³ஹிஷ்பரிஷ்க்ரு’த, ஈஸ்²வரஸ்த்வாம்’ ப்ரஹர்த்தும் உத்³யதோஸ்தி, யதோ வ்யவஸ்தா²நுஸாரேண விசாரயிதும் உபவிஸ்²ய வ்யவஸ்தா²ம்’ லங்கி⁴த்வா மாம்’ ப்ரஹர்த்தும் ஆஜ்ஞாபயஸி|
Then Paul said to him, “God will strike you, you whitewashed wall! Do you sit to judge me according to the Torah, and command me to be struck contrary to the law?”
4 ததோ நிகடஸ்தா² லோகா அகத²யந், த்வம்’ கிம் ஈஸ்²வரஸ்ய மஹாயாஜகம்’ நிந்த³ஸி?
Those who stood by said, “Do you malign God’s high priest?”
5 தத: பௌல: ப்ரதிபா⁴ஷிதவாந் ஹே ப்⁴ராத்ரு’க³ண மஹாயாஜக ஏஷ இதி ந பு³த்³த⁴ம்’ மயா தத³ந்யச்ச ஸ்வலோகாநாம் அதி⁴பதிம்’ ப்ரதி து³ர்வ்வாக்யம்’ மா கத²ய, ஏதாத்³ரு’ஸீ² லிபிரஸ்தி|
Paul said, “I didn’t know, brothers, that he was high priest. For it is written, ‘You shall not speak evil of a ruler of your people.’”
6 அநந்தரம்’ பௌலஸ்தேஷாம் அர்த்³த⁴ம்’ ஸிதூ³கிலோகா அர்த்³த⁴ம்’ பி²ரூஸி²லோகா இதி த்³ரு’ஷ்ட்வா ப்ரோச்சை: ஸபா⁴ஸ்த²லோகாந் அவத³த் ஹே ப்⁴ராத்ரு’க³ண அஹம்’ பி²ரூஸி²மதாவலம்பீ³ பி²ரூஸி²ந: ஸத்நாநஸ்²ச, ம்ரு’தலோகாநாம் உத்தா²நே ப்ரத்யாஸா²கரணாத்³ அஹமபவாதி³தோஸ்மி|
But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, “Men and brothers, I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees. Concerning the hope and resurrection of the dead I am being judged!”
7 இதி கதா²யாம்’ கதி²தாயாம்’ பி²ரூஸி²ஸிதூ³கிநோ: பரஸ்பரம்’ பி⁴ந்நவாக்யத்வாத் ஸபா⁴யா மத்⁴யே த்³வௌ ஸம்’கௌ⁴ ஜாதௌ|
When he had said this, an argument arose between the Pharisees and Sadducees, and the crowd was divided.
8 யத: ஸிதூ³கிலோகா உத்தா²நம்’ ஸ்வர்கீ³யதூ³தா ஆத்மாநஸ்²ச ஸர்வ்வேஷாம் ஏதேஷாம்’ கமபி ந மந்யந்தே, கிந்து பி²ரூஸி²ந: ஸர்வ்வம் அங்கீ³குர்வ்வந்தி|
For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, nor angel, nor spirit; but the Pharisees confess all of these.
9 தத: பரஸ்பரம் அதிஸ²யகோலாஹலே ஸமுபஸ்தி²தே பி²ரூஸி²நாம்’ பக்ஷீயா: ஸபா⁴ஸ்தா² அத்⁴யாபகா: ப்ரதிபக்ஷா உத்திஷ்ட²ந்தோ (அ)கத²யந், ஏதஸ்ய மாநவஸ்ய கமபி தோ³ஷம்’ ந பஸ்²யாம: ; யதி³ கஸ்²சித்³ ஆத்மா வா கஸ்²சித்³ தூ³த ஏநம்’ ப்ரத்யாதி³ஸ²த் தர்ஹி வயம் ஈஸ்²வரஸ்ய ப்ராதிகூல்யேந ந யோத்ஸ்யாம: |
A great clamor arose, and some of the scribes of the Pharisees’ part stood up, and contended, saying, “We find no evil in this man. But if a spirit or angel has spoken to him, let’s not fight against God!”
10 தஸ்மாத்³ அதீவ பி⁴ந்நவாக்யத்வே ஸதி தே பௌலம்’ க²ண்ட³ம்’ க²ண்ட³ம்’ கரிஷ்யந்தீத்யாஸ²ங்கயா ஸஹஸ்ரஸேநாபதி: ஸேநாக³ணம்’ தத்ஸ்தா²நம்’ யாதும்’ ஸபா⁴தோ ப³லாத் பௌலம்’ த்⁴ரு’த்வா து³ர்க³ம்’ நேதஞ்சாஜ்ஞாபயத்|
When a great argument arose, the commanding officer, fearing that Paul would be torn in pieces by them, commanded the soldiers to go down and take him by force from among them and bring him into the barracks.
11 ராத்ரோ ப்ரபு⁴ஸ்தஸ்ய ஸமீபே திஷ்ட²ந் கதி²தவாந் ஹே பௌல நிர்ப⁴யோ ப⁴வ யதா² யிரூஸா²லம்நக³ரே மயி ஸாக்ஷ்யம்’ த³த்தவாந் ததா² ரோமாநக³ரேபி த்வயா தா³தவ்யம்|
The following night, the Lord stood by him and said, “Cheer up, Paul, for as you have testified about me at Jerusalem, so you must testify also at Rome.”
12 தி³நே ஸமுபஸ்தி²தே ஸதி கியந்தோ யிஹூதீ³யலோகா ஏகமந்த்ரணா: ஸந்த: பௌலம்’ ந ஹத்வா போ⁴ஜநபாநே கரிஷ்யாம இதி ஸ²பதே²ந ஸ்வாந் அப³த்⁴நந்|
When it was day, some of the Judeans banded together and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink until they had killed Paul.
13 சத்வாரிம்’ஸ²ஜ்ஜநேப்⁴யோ(அ)தி⁴கா லோகா இதி பணம் அகுர்வ்வந்|
There were more than forty people who had made this conspiracy.
14 தே மஹாயாஜகாநாம்’ ப்ராசீநலோகாநாஞ்ச ஸமீபம்’ க³த்வா கத²யந், வயம்’ பௌலம்’ ந ஹத்வா கிமபி ந போ⁴க்ஷ்யாமஹே த்³ரு’டே⁴நாநேந ஸ²பதே²ந ப³த்³த்⁴வா அப⁴வாம|
They came to the chief priests and the elders, and said, “We have bound ourselves under a great curse to taste nothing until we have killed Paul.
15 அதஏவ ஸாம்ப்ரதம்’ ஸபா⁴ஸத்³லோகை: ஸஹ வயம்’ தஸ்மிந் கஞ்சித்³ விஸே²ஷவிசாரம்’ கரிஷ்யாமஸ்தத³ர்த²ம்’ ப⁴வாந் ஸ்²வோ (அ)ஸ்மாகம்’ ஸமீபம்’ தம் ஆநயத்விதி ஸஹஸ்ரஸேநாபதயே நிவேத³நம்’ குருத தேந யுஷ்மாகம்’ ஸமீபம்’ உபஸ்தி²தே: பூர்வ்வம்’ வயம்’ தம்’ ஹந்து ஸஜ்ஜிஷ்யாம|
Now therefore, you with the council inform the commanding officer that he should bring him down to you tomorrow, as though you were going to judge his case more exactly. We are ready to kill him before he comes near.”
16 ததா³ பௌலஸ்ய பா⁴கி³நேயஸ்தேஷாமிதி மந்த்ரணாம்’ விஜ்ஞாய து³ர்க³ம்’ க³த்வா தாம்’ வார்த்தாம்’ பௌலம் உக்தவாந்|
But Paul’s sister’s son heard they were lying in wait, and he came and entered into the barracks and told Paul.
17 தஸ்மாத் பௌல ஏகம்’ ஸ²தஸேநாபதிம் ஆஹூய வாக்யமித³ம் பா⁴ஷிதவாந் ஸஹஸ்ரஸேநாபதே: ஸமீபே(அ)ஸ்ய யுவமநுஷ்யஸ்ய கிஞ்சிந்நிவேத³நம் ஆஸ்தே, தஸ்மாத் தத்ஸவித⁴ம் ஏநம்’ நய|
Paul summoned one of the centurions and said, “Bring this young man to the commanding officer, for he has something to tell him.”
18 தத: ஸ தமாதா³ய ஸஹஸ்ரஸேநாபதே: ஸமீபம் உபஸ்தா²ய கதி²தவாந், ப⁴வத: ஸமீபே(அ)ஸ்ய கிமபி நிவேத³நமாஸ்தே தஸ்மாத் ப³ந்தி³: பௌலோ மாமாஹூய ப⁴வத: ஸமீபம் ஏநம் ஆநேதும்’ ப்ரார்தி²தவாந்|
So he took him and brought him to the commanding officer and said, “Paul, the prisoner, summoned me and asked me to bring this young man to you. He has something to tell you.”
19 ததா³ ஸஹஸ்ரஸேநாபதிஸ்தஸ்ய ஹஸ்தம்’ த்⁴ரு’த்வா நிர்ஜநஸ்தா²நம்’ நீத்வா ப்ரு’ஷ்ட²வாந் தவ கிம்’ நிவேத³நம்’? தத் கத²ய|
The commanding officer took him by the hand, and going aside, asked him privately, “What is it that you have to tell me?”
20 தத: ஸோகத²யத், யிஹூதீ³யலாகா: பௌலே கமபி விஸே²ஷவிசாரம்’ ச²லம்’ க்ரு’த்வா தம்’ ஸபா⁴ம்’ நேதும்’ ப⁴வத: ஸமீபே நிவேத³யிதும்’ அமந்த்ரயந்|
He said, “The Judeans have agreed to ask you to bring Paul down to the council tomorrow, as though intending to inquire somewhat more accurately concerning him.
21 கிந்து மவதா தந்ந ஸ்வீகர்த்தவ்யம்’ யதஸ்தேஷாம்’ மத்⁴யேவர்த்திநஸ்²சத்வாரிம்’ஸ²ஜ்ஜநேப்⁴யோ (அ)தி⁴கலோகா ஏகமந்த்ரணா பூ⁴த்வா பௌலம்’ ந ஹத்வா போ⁴ஜநம்’ பாநஞ்ச ந கரிஷ்யாம இதி ஸ²பதே²ந ப³த்³தா⁴: ஸந்தோ கா⁴தகா இவ ஸஜ்ஜிதா இதா³நீம்’ கேவலம்’ ப⁴வதோ (அ)நுமதிம் அபேக்ஷந்தே|
Therefore don’t yield to them, for more than forty men lie in wait for him, who have bound themselves under a curse to neither eat nor drink until they have killed him. Now they are ready, looking for the promise from you.”
22 யாமிமாம்’ கதா²ம்’ த்வம்’ நிவேதி³தவாந் தாம்’ கஸ்மைசித³பி மா கத²யேத்யுக்த்வா ஸஹஸ்ரஸேநாபதிஸ்தம்’ யுவாநம்’ விஸ்ரு’ஷ்டவாந்|
So the commanding officer let the young man go, charging him, “Tell no one that you have revealed these things to me.”
23 அநந்தரம்’ ஸஹஸ்ரஸேநாபதி ர்த்³வௌ ஸ²தஸேநாபதீ ஆஹூயேத³ம் ஆதி³ஸ²த், யுவாம்’ ராத்ரௌ ப்ரஹரைகாவஸி²ஷ்டாயாம்’ ஸத்யாம்’ கைஸரியாநக³ரம்’ யாதும்’ பதா³திஸைந்யாநாம்’ த்³வே ஸ²தே கோ⁴டகாரோஹிஸைந்யாநாம்’ ஸப்ததிம்’ ஸ²க்திதா⁴ரிஸைந்யாநாம்’ த்³வே ஸ²தே ச ஜநாந் ஸஜ்ஜிதாந் குருதம்’|
He called to himself two of the centurions, and said, “Prepare two hundred soldiers to go as far as Caesarea, with seventy horsemen and two hundred men armed with spears, at the third hour of the night.”
24 பௌலம் ஆரோஹயிதும்’ பீ²லிக்ஷாதி⁴பதே: ஸமீபம்’ நிர்வ்விக்⁴நம்’ நேதுஞ்ச வாஹநாநி ஸமுபஸ்தா²பயதம்’|
He asked them to provide mounts, that they might set Paul on one, and bring him safely to Felix the governor.
25 அபரம்’ ஸ பத்ரம்’ லிகி²த்வா த³த்தவாந் தல்லிகி²தமேதத்,
He wrote a letter like this:
26 மஹாமஹிமஸ்ரீயுக்தபீ²லிக்ஷாதி⁴பதயே க்லௌதி³யலுஷியஸ்ய நமஸ்கார: |
“Claudius Lysias to the most excellent governor Felix: Greetings.
27 யிஹூதீ³யலோகா: பூர்வ்வம் ஏநம்’ மாநவம்’ த்⁴ரு’த்வா ஸ்வஹஸ்தை ர்ஹந்தும் உத்³யதா ஏதஸ்மிந்நந்தரே ஸஸைந்யோஹம்’ தத்ரோபஸ்தா²ய ஏஷ ஜநோ ரோமீய இதி விஜ்ஞாய தம்’ ரக்ஷிதவாந்|
“This man was seized by the Judeans, and was about to be killed by them when I came with the soldiers and rescued him, having learned that he was a Roman.
28 கிந்நிமித்தம்’ தே தமபவத³ந்தே தஜ்ஜ்ஞாதும்’ தேஷா ஸபா⁴ம்’ தமாநாயிதவாந்|
Desiring to know the cause why they accused him, I brought him down to their council.
29 ததஸ்தேஷாம்’ வ்யவஸ்தா²யா விருத்³த⁴யா கயாசந கத²யா ஸோ(அ)பவாதி³தோ(அ)ப⁴வத், கிந்து ஸ ஸ்²ரு’ங்க²லப³ந்த⁴நார்ஹோ வா ப்ராணநாஸா²ர்ஹோ ப⁴வதீத்³ரு’ஸ²: கோப்யபராதோ⁴ மயாஸ்ய ந த்³ரு’ஷ்ட: |
I found him to be accused about questions of their law, but not to be charged with anything worthy of death or of imprisonment.
30 ததா²பி மநுஷ்யஸ்யாஸ்ய வதா⁴ர்த²ம்’ யிஹூதீ³யா கா⁴தகாஇவ ஸஜ்ஜிதா ஏதாம்’ வார்த்தாம்’ ஸ்²ருத்வா தத்க்ஷணாத் தவ ஸமீபமேநம்’ ப்ரேஷிதவாந் அஸ்யாபவாத³காம்’ஸ்²ச தவ ஸமீபம்’ க³த்வாபவதி³தும் ஆஜ்ஞாபயம்| ப⁴வத: குஸ²லம்’ பூ⁴யாத்|
When I was told that the Judeans lay in wait for the man, I sent him to you immediately, charging his accusers also to bring their accusations against him before you. Farewell.”
31 ஸைந்யக³ண ஆஜ்ஞாநுஸாரேண பௌலம்’ க்³ரு’ஹீத்வா தஸ்யாம்’ ரஜந்யாம் ஆந்திபாத்ரிநக³ரம் ஆநயத்|
So the soldiers, carrying out their orders, took Paul and brought him by night to Antipatris.
32 பரே(அ)ஹநி தேந ஸஹ யாதும்’ கோ⁴டகாரூட⁴ஸைந்யக³ணம்’ ஸ்தா²பயித்வா பராவ்ரு’த்ய து³ர்க³ம்’ க³தவாந்|
But on the next day they left the horsemen to go with him, and returned to the barracks.
33 தத: பரே கோ⁴டகாரோஹிஸைந்யக³ண: கைஸரியாநக³ரம் உபஸ்தா²ய தத்பத்ரம் அதி⁴பதே: கரே ஸமர்ப்ய தஸ்ய ஸமீபே பௌலம் உபஸ்தா²பிதவாந்|
When they came to Caesarea and delivered the letter to the governor, they also presented Paul to him.
34 ததா³தி⁴பதிஸ்தத்பத்ரம்’ படி²த்வா ப்ரு’ஷ்ட²வாந் ஏஷ கிம்ப்ரதே³ஸீ²யோ ஜந: ? ஸ கிலிகியாப்ரதே³ஸீ²ய ஏகோ ஜந இதி ஜ்ஞாத்வா கதி²தவாந்,
When the governor had read it, he asked what province he was from. When he understood that he was from Cilicia, he said,
35 தவாபவாத³கக³ண ஆக³தே தவ கதா²ம்’ ஸ்²ரோஷ்யாமி| ஹேரோத்³ராஜக்³ரு’ஹே தம்’ ஸ்தா²பயிதும் ஆதி³ஷ்டவாந்|
“I will hear you fully when your accusers also arrive.” He commanded that he be kept in Herod’s palace.
