1 ਤਦਾਨੀਂ ਲੋਕਾਃ ਸਹਸ੍ਰੰ ਸਹਸ੍ਰਮ੍ ਆਗਤ੍ਯ ਸਮੁਪਸ੍ਥਿਤਾਸ੍ਤਤ ਏਕੈਕੋ (ਅ)ਨ੍ਯੇਸ਼਼ਾਮੁਪਰਿ ਪਤਿਤੁਮ੍ ਉਪਚਕ੍ਰਮੇ; ਤਦਾ ਯੀਸ਼ੁਃ ਸ਼ਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਾਨ੍ ਬਭਾਸ਼਼ੇ, ਯੂਯੰ ਫਿਰੂਸ਼ਿਨਾਂ ਕਿਣ੍ਵਰੂਪਕਾਪਟ੍ਯੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼਼ੇਣ ਸਾਵਧਾਨਾਸ੍ਤਿਸ਼਼੍ਠਤ|
At which time the myriads of the multitude having been gathered together, so as to tread upon one another, he began to say unto his disciples, first, 'Take heed to yourselves of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy;
2 ਯਤੋ ਯੰਨ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਯਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਤੇ ਤਦਾੱਛੰਨੰ ਵਸ੍ਤੁ ਕਿਮਪਿ ਨਾਸ੍ਤਿ; ਤਥਾ ਯੰਨ ਜ੍ਞਾਸ੍ਯਤੇ ਤਦ੍ ਗੁਪ੍ਤੰ ਵਸ੍ਤੁ ਕਿਮਪਿ ਨਾਸ੍ਤਿ|
and there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known;
3 ਅਨ੍ਧਕਾਰੇ ਤਿਸ਼਼੍ਠਨਤੋ ਯਾਃ ਕਥਾ ਅਕਥਯਤ ਤਾਃ ਸਰ੍ੱਵਾਃ ਕਥਾ ਦੀਪ੍ਤੌ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਸ਼਼੍ਯਨ੍ਤੇ ਨਿਰ੍ਜਨੇ ਕਰ੍ਣੇ ਚ ਯਦਕਥਯਤ ਗ੍ਰੁʼਹਪ੍ਰੁʼਸ਼਼੍ਠਾਤ੍ ਤਤ੍ ਪ੍ਰਚਾਰਯਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਤੇ|
because whatever in the darkness ye said, in the light shall be heard: and what to the ear ye spake in the inner-chambers, shall be proclaimed upon the house-tops.
4 ਹੇ ਬਨ੍ਧਵੋ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਨਹੰ ਵਦਾਮਿ, ਯੇ ਸ਼ਰੀਰਸ੍ਯ ਨਾਸ਼ੰ ਵਿਨਾ ਕਿਮਪ੍ਯਪਰੰ ਕਰ੍ੱਤੁੰ ਨ ਸ਼ਕ੍ਰੁਵਨ੍ਤਿ ਤੇਭ੍ਯੋ ਮਾ ਭੈਸ਼਼੍ਟ|
'And I say to you, my friends, be not afraid of those killing the body, and after these things are not having anything over to do;
5 ਤਰ੍ਹਿ ਕਸ੍ਮਾਦ੍ ਭੇਤਵ੍ਯਮ੍ ਇਤ੍ਯਹੰ ਵਦਾਮਿ, ਯਃ ਸ਼ਰੀਰੰ ਨਾਸ਼ਯਿਤ੍ਵਾ ਨਰਕੰ ਨਿਕ੍ਸ਼਼ੇਪ੍ਤੁੰ ਸ਼ਕ੍ਨੋਤਿ ਤਸ੍ਮਾਦੇਵ ਭਯੰ ਕੁਰੁਤ, ਪੁਨਰਪਿ ਵਦਾਮਿ ਤਸ੍ਮਾਦੇਵ ਭਯੰ ਕੁਰੁਤ| (Geenna g1067)
but I will show to you, whom ye may fear; Fear him who, after the killing, is having authority to cast to the gehenna; yes, I say to you, Fear ye Him. (Geenna g1067)
6 ਪਞ੍ਚ ਚਟਕਪਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਿਣਃ ਕਿੰ ਦ੍ਵਾਭ੍ਯਾਂ ਤਾਮ੍ਰਖਣ੍ਡਾਭ੍ਯਾਂ ਨ ਵਿਕ੍ਰੀਯਨ੍ਤੇ? ਤਥਾਪੀਸ਼੍ਵਰਸ੍ਤੇਸ਼਼ਾਮ੍ ਏਕਮਪਿ ਨ ਵਿਸ੍ਮਰਤਿ|
'Are not five sparrows sold for two assars? and one of them is not forgotten before God,
7 ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਕੰ ਸ਼ਿਰਃਕੇਸ਼ਾ ਅਪਿ ਗਣਿਤਾਃ ਸਨ੍ਤਿ ਤਸ੍ਮਾਤ੍ ਮਾ ਵਿਭੀਤ ਬਹੁਚਟਕਪਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਿਭ੍ਯੋਪਿ ਯੂਯੰ ਬਹੁਮੂਲ੍ਯਾਃ|
but even the hairs of your head have been all numbered; therefore fear ye not, than many sparrows ye are of more value.
8 ਅਪਰੰ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਭ੍ਯੰ ਕਥਯਾਮਿ ਯਃ ਕਸ਼੍ਚਿਨ੍ ਮਾਨੁਸ਼਼ਾਣਾਂ ਸਾਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਾਨ੍ ਮਾਂ ਸ੍ਵੀਕਰੋਤਿ ਮਨੁਸ਼਼੍ਯਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਈਸ਼੍ਵਰਦੂਤਾਨਾਂ ਸਾਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਾਤ੍ ਤੰ ਸ੍ਵੀਕਰਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਤਿ|
'And I say to you, Every one — whoever may confess with me before men, the Son of Man also shall confess with him before the messengers of God,
9 ਕਿਨ੍ਤੁ ਯਃ ਕਸ਼੍ਚਿਨ੍ਮਾਨੁਸ਼਼ਾਣਾਂ ਸਾਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਾਨ੍ਮਾਮ੍ ਅਸ੍ਵੀਕਰੋਤਿ ਤਮ੍ ਈਸ਼੍ਵਰਸ੍ਯ ਦੂਤਾਨਾਂ ਸਾਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਾਦ੍ ਅਹਮ੍ ਅਸ੍ਵੀਕਰਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਾਮਿ|
and he who hath denied me before men, shall be denied before the messengers of God,
10 ਅਨ੍ਯੱਚ ਯਃ ਕਸ਼੍ਚਿਨ੍ ਮਨੁਜਸੁਤਸ੍ਯ ਨਿਨ੍ਦਾਭਾਵੇਨ ਕਾਞ੍ਚਿਤ੍ ਕਥਾਂ ਕਥਯਤਿ ਤਸ੍ਯ ਤਤ੍ਪਾਪਸ੍ਯ ਮੋਚਨੰ ਭਵਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਤਿ ਕਿਨ੍ਤੁ ਯਦਿ ਕਸ਼੍ਚਿਤ੍ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰਮ੍ ਆਤ੍ਮਾਨੰ ਨਿਨ੍ਦਤਿ ਤਰ੍ਹਿ ਤਸ੍ਯ ਤਤ੍ਪਾਪਸ੍ਯ ਮੋਚਨੰ ਨ ਭਵਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਤਿ|
and every one whoever shall say a word to the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven to him, but to him who to the Holy Spirit did speak evil, it shall not be forgiven.
11 ਯਦਾ ਲੋਕਾ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਨ੍ ਭਜਨਗੇਹੰ ਵਿਚਾਰਕਰ੍ਤ੍ਰੁʼਰਾਜ੍ਯਕਰ੍ਤ੍ਰੁʼਣਾਂ ਸੰਮੁਖਞ੍ਚ ਨੇਸ਼਼੍ਯਨ੍ਤਿ ਤਦਾ ਕੇਨ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰੇਣ ਕਿਮੁੱਤਰੰ ਵਦਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਥ ਕਿੰ ਕਥਯਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਥ ਚੇਤ੍ਯਤ੍ਰ ਮਾ ਚਿਨ੍ਤਯਤ;
'And when they bring you before the synagogues, and the rulers, and the authorities, be not anxious how or what ye may reply, or what ye may say,
12 ਯਤੋ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਭਿਰ੍ਯਦ੍ ਯਦ੍ ਵਕ੍ਤਵ੍ਯੰ ਤਤ੍ ਤਸ੍ਮਿਨ੍ ਸਮਯਏਵ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਆਤ੍ਮਾ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਨ੍ ਸ਼ਿਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਯਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਤਿ|
for the Holy Spirit shall teach you in that hour what it behoveth [you] to say.'
13 ਤਤਃ ਪਰੰ ਜਨਤਾਮਧ੍ਯਸ੍ਥਃ ਕਸ਼੍ਚਿੱਜਨਸ੍ਤੰ ਜਗਾਦ ਹੇ ਗੁਰੋ ਮਯਾ ਸਹ ਪੈਤ੍ਰੁʼਕੰ ਧਨੰ ਵਿਭਕ੍ਤੁੰ ਮਮ ਭ੍ਰਾਤਰਮਾਜ੍ਞਾਪਯਤੁ ਭਵਾਨ੍|
And a certain one said to him, out of the multitude, 'Teacher, say to my brother to divide with me the inheritance.'
14 ਕਿਨ੍ਤੁ ਸ ਤਮਵਦਤ੍ ਹੇ ਮਨੁਸ਼਼੍ਯ ਯੁਵਯੋ ਰ੍ਵਿਚਾਰੰ ਵਿਭਾਗਞ੍ਚ ਕਰ੍ੱਤੁੰ ਮਾਂ ਕੋ ਨਿਯੁਕ੍ਤਵਾਨ੍?
And he said to him, 'Man, who set me a judge or a divider over you?'
15 ਅਨਨ੍ਤਰੰ ਸ ਲੋਕਾਨਵਦਤ੍ ਲੋਭੇ ਸਾਵਧਾਨਾਃ ਸਤਰ੍ਕਾਸ਼੍ਚ ਤਿਸ਼਼੍ਠਤ, ਯਤੋ ਬਹੁਸਮ੍ਪੱਤਿਪ੍ਰਾਪ੍ਤ੍ਯਾ ਮਨੁਸ਼਼੍ਯਸ੍ਯਾਯੁ ਰ੍ਨ ਭਵਤਿ|
And he said unto them, 'Observe, and beware of the covetousness, because not in the abundance of one's goods is his life.'
16 ਪਸ਼੍ਚਾਦ੍ ਦ੍ਰੁʼਸ਼਼੍ਟਾਨ੍ਤਕਥਾਮੁੱਥਾਪ੍ਯ ਕਥਯਾਮਾਸ, ਏਕਸ੍ਯ ਧਨਿਨੋ ਭੂਮੌ ਬਹੂਨਿ ਸ਼ਸ੍ਯਾਨਿ ਜਾਤਾਨਿ|
And he spake a simile unto them, saying, 'Of a certain rich man the field brought forth well;
17 ਤਤਃ ਸ ਮਨਸਾ ਚਿਨ੍ਤਯਿਤ੍ਵਾ ਕਥਯਾਮ੍ਬਭੂਵ ਮਮੈਤਾਨਿ ਸਮੁਤ੍ਪੰਨਾਨਿ ਦ੍ਰਵ੍ਯਾਣਿ ਸ੍ਥਾਪਯਿਤੁੰ ਸ੍ਥਾਨੰ ਨਾਸ੍ਤਿ ਕਿੰ ਕਰਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਾਮਿ?
and he was reasoning within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have not where I shall gather together my fruits?
18 ਤਤੋਵਦਦ੍ ਇੱਥੰ ਕਰਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਾਮਿ, ਮਮ ਸਰ੍ੱਵਭਾਣ੍ਡਾਗਾਰਾਣਿ ਭਙ੍ਕ੍ਤ੍ਵਾ ਬ੍ਰੁʼਹਦ੍ਭਾਣ੍ਡਾਗਾਰਾਣਿ ਨਿਰ੍ੰਮਾਯ ਤਨ੍ਮਧ੍ਯੇ ਸਰ੍ੱਵਫਲਾਨਿ ਦ੍ਰਵ੍ਯਾਣਿ ਚ ਸ੍ਥਾਪਯਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਾਮਿ|
and he said, This I will do, I will take down my storehouses, and greater ones I will build, and I will gather together there all my products and my good things,
19 ਅਪਰੰ ਨਿਜਮਨੋ ਵਦਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਾਮਿ, ਹੇ ਮਨੋ ਬਹੁਵਤ੍ਸਰਾਰ੍ਥੰ ਨਾਨਾਦ੍ਰਵ੍ਯਾਣਿ ਸਞ੍ਚਿਤਾਨਿ ਸਨ੍ਤਿ ਵਿਸ਼੍ਰਾਮੰ ਕੁਰੁ ਭੁਕ੍ਤ੍ਵਾ ਪੀਤ੍ਵਾ ਕੌਤੁਕਞ੍ਚ ਕੁਰੁ| ਕਿਨ੍ਤ੍ਵੀਸ਼੍ਵਰਸ੍ਤਮ੍ ਅਵਦਤ੍,
and I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast many good things laid up for many years, be resting, eat, drink, be merry.
20 ਰੇ ਨਿਰ੍ਬੋਧ ਅਦ੍ਯ ਰਾਤ੍ਰੌ ਤਵ ਪ੍ਰਾਣਾਸ੍ਤ੍ਵੱਤੋ ਨੇਸ਼਼੍ਯਨ੍ਤੇ ਤਤ ਏਤਾਨਿ ਯਾਨਿ ਦ੍ਰਵ੍ਯਾਣਿ ਤ੍ਵਯਾਸਾਦਿਤਾਨਿ ਤਾਨਿ ਕਸ੍ਯ ਭਵਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਨ੍ਤਿ?
'And God said to him, Unthinking one! this night thy soul they shall require from thee, and what things thou didst prepare — to whom shall they be?
21 ਅਤਏਵ ਯਃ ਕਸ਼੍ਚਿਦ੍ ਈਸ਼੍ਵਰਸ੍ਯ ਸਮੀਪੇ ਧਨਸਞ੍ਚਯਮਕ੍ਰੁʼਤ੍ਵਾ ਕੇਵਲੰ ਸ੍ਵਨਿਕਟੇ ਸਞ੍ਚਯੰ ਕਰੋਤਿ ਸੋਪਿ ਤਾਦ੍ਰੁʼਸ਼ਃ|
so [is] he who is treasuring up to himself, and is not rich toward God.'
22 ਅਥ ਸ ਸ਼ਿਸ਼਼੍ਯੇਭ੍ਯਃ ਕਥਯਾਮਾਸ, ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਨਹੰ ਵਦਾਮਿ, ਕਿੰ ਖਾਦਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਾਮਃ? ਕਿੰ ਪਰਿਧਾਸ੍ਯਾਮਃ? ਇਤ੍ਯੁਕ੍ਤ੍ਵਾ ਜੀਵਨਸ੍ਯ ਸ਼ਰੀਰਸ੍ਯ ਚਾਰ੍ਥੰ ਚਿਨ੍ਤਾਂ ਮਾ ਕਾਰ੍ਸ਼਼੍ਟ|
And he said unto his disciples, 'Because of this, to you I say, Be not anxious for your life, what ye may eat; nor for the body, what ye may put on;
23 ਭਕ੍ਸ਼਼੍ਯਾੱਜੀਵਨੰ ਭੂਸ਼਼ਣਾੱਛਰੀਰਞ੍ਚ ਸ਼੍ਰੇਸ਼਼੍ਠੰ ਭਵਤਿ|
the life is more than the nourishment, and the body than the clothing.
24 ਕਾਕਪਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਿਣਾਂ ਕਾਰ੍ੱਯੰ ਵਿਚਾਰਯਤ, ਤੇ ਨ ਵਪਨ੍ਤਿ ਸ਼ਸ੍ਯਾਨਿ ਚ ਨ ਛਿਨ੍ਦਨ੍ਤਿ, ਤੇਸ਼਼ਾਂ ਭਾਣ੍ਡਾਗਾਰਾਣਿ ਨ ਸਨ੍ਤਿ ਕੋਸ਼਼ਾਸ਼੍ਚ ਨ ਸਨ੍ਤਿ, ਤਥਾਪੀਸ਼੍ਵਰਸ੍ਤੇਭ੍ਯੋ ਭਕ੍ਸ਼਼੍ਯਾਣਿ ਦਦਾਤਿ, ਯੂਯੰ ਪਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਿਭ੍ਯਃ ਸ਼੍ਰੇਸ਼਼੍ਠਤਰਾ ਨ ਕਿੰ?
'Consider the ravens, that they sow not, nor reap, to which there is no barn nor storehouse, and God doth nourish them; how much better are ye than the fowls?
25 ਅਪਰਞ੍ਚ ਭਾਵਯਿਤ੍ਵਾ ਨਿਜਾਯੁਸ਼਼ਃ ਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਣਮਾਤ੍ਰੰ ਵਰ੍ੱਧਯਿਤੁੰ ਸ਼ਕ੍ਨੋਤਿ, ਏਤਾਦ੍ਰੁʼਸ਼ੋ ਲਾਕੋ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਕੰ ਮਧ੍ਯੇ ਕੋਸ੍ਤਿ?
and who of you, being anxious, is able to add to his age one cubit?
26 ਅਤਏਵ ਕ੍ਸ਼਼ੁਦ੍ਰੰ ਕਾਰ੍ੱਯੰ ਸਾਧਯਿਤੁਮ੍ ਅਸਮਰ੍ਥਾ ਯੂਯਮ੍ ਅਨ੍ਯਸ੍ਮਿਨ੍ ਕਾਰ੍ੱਯੇ ਕੁਤੋ ਭਾਵਯਥ?
If, then, ye are not able for the least — why for the rest are ye anxious?
27 ਅਨ੍ਯੱਚ ਕਾਮ੍ਪਿਲਪੁਸ਼਼੍ਪੰ ਕਥੰ ਵਰ੍ੱਧਤੇ ਤਦਾਪਿ ਵਿਚਾਰਯਤ, ਤਤ੍ ਕਞ੍ਚਨ ਸ਼੍ਰਮੰ ਨ ਕਰੋਤਿ ਤਨ੍ਤੂੰਸ਼੍ਚ ਨ ਜਨਯਤਿ ਕਿਨ੍ਤੁ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਭ੍ਯੰ ਯਥਾਰ੍ਥੰ ਕਥਯਾਮਿ ਸੁਲੇਮਾਨ੍ ਬਹ੍ਵੈਸ਼੍ਵਰ੍ੱਯਾਨ੍ਵਿਤੋਪਿ ਪੁਸ਼਼੍ਪਸ੍ਯਾਸ੍ਯ ਸਦ੍ਰੁʼਸ਼ੋ ਵਿਭੂਸ਼਼ਿਤੋ ਨਾਸੀਤ੍|
'Consider the lilies, how do they grow? they labour not, nor do they spin, and I say to you, not even Solomon in all his glory was arrayed as one of these;
28 ਅਦ੍ਯ ਕ੍ਸ਼਼ੇਤ੍ਰੇ ਵਰ੍ੱਤਮਾਨੰ ਸ਼੍ਵਸ਼੍ਚੂੱਲ੍ਯਾਂ ਕ੍ਸ਼਼ੇਪ੍ਸ੍ਯਮਾਨੰ ਯਤ੍ ਤ੍ਰੁʼਣੰ, ਤਸ੍ਮੈ ਯਦੀਸ਼੍ਵਰ ਇੱਥੰ ਭੂਸ਼਼ਯਤਿ ਤਰ੍ਹਿ ਹੇ ਅਲ੍ਪਪ੍ਰਤ੍ਯਯਿਨੋ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਨ ਕਿੰ ਨ ਪਰਿਧਾਪਯਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਤਿ?
and if the herbage in the field, that to-day is, and to-morrow into an oven is cast, God doth so clothe, how much more you — ye of little faith?
29 ਅਤਏਵ ਕਿੰ ਖਾਦਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਾਮਃ? ਕਿੰ ਪਰਿਧਾਸ੍ਯਾਮਃ? ਏਤਦਰ੍ਥੰ ਮਾ ਚੇਸ਼਼੍ਟਧ੍ਵੰ ਮਾ ਸੰਦਿਗ੍ਧ੍ਵਞ੍ਚ|
'And ye — seek not what ye may eat, or what ye may drink, and be not in suspense,
30 ਜਗਤੋ ਦੇਵਾਰ੍ੱਚਕਾ ਏਤਾਨਿ ਸਰ੍ੱਵਾਣਿ ਚੇਸ਼਼੍ਟਨਤੇ; ਏਸ਼਼ੁ ਵਸ੍ਤੁਸ਼਼ੁ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਕੰ ਪ੍ਰਯੋਜਨਮਾਸ੍ਤੇ ਇਤਿ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਕੰ ਪਿਤਾ ਜਾਨਾਤਿ|
for all these things do the nations of the world seek after, and your Father hath known that ye have need of these things;
31 ਅਤਏਵੇਸ਼੍ਵਰਸ੍ਯ ਰਾਜ੍ਯਾਰ੍ਥੰ ਸਚੇਸ਼਼੍ਟਾ ਭਵਤ ਤਥਾ ਕ੍ਰੁʼਤੇ ਸਰ੍ੱਵਾਣ੍ਯੇਤਾਨਿ ਦ੍ਰਵ੍ਯਾਣਿ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਭ੍ਯੰ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਯਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਨ੍ਤੇ|
but, seek ye the reign of God, and all these things shall be added to you.
32 ਹੇ ਕ੍ਸ਼਼ੁਦ੍ਰਮੇਸ਼਼ਵ੍ਰਜ ਯੂਯੰ ਮਾ ਭੈਸ਼਼੍ਟ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਭ੍ਯੰ ਰਾਜ੍ਯੰ ਦਾਤੁੰ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਕੰ ਪਿਤੁਃ ਸੰਮਤਿਰਸ੍ਤਿ|
'Fear not, little flock, because your Father did delight to give you the reign;
33 ਅਤਏਵ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਕੰ ਯਾ ਯਾ ਸਮ੍ਪੱਤਿਰਸ੍ਤਿ ਤਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਵਿਕ੍ਰੀਯ ਵਿਤਰਤ, ਯਤ੍ ਸ੍ਥਾਨੰ ਚੌਰਾ ਨਾਗੱਛਨ੍ਤਿ, ਕੀਟਾਸ਼੍ਚ ਨ ਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਾਯਯਨ੍ਤਿ ਤਾਦ੍ਰੁʼਸ਼ੇ ਸ੍ਵਰ੍ਗੇ ਨਿਜਾਰ੍ਥਮ੍ ਅਜਰੇ ਸਮ੍ਪੁਟਕੇ (ਅ)ਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਯੰ ਧਨੰ ਸਞ੍ਚਿਨੁਤ ਚ;
sell your goods, and give alms, make to yourselves bags that become not old, a treasure unfailing in the heavens, where thief doth not come near, nor moth destroy;
34 ਯਤੋ ਯਤ੍ਰ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਕੰ ਧਨੰ ਵਰ੍ੱਤਤੇ ਤਤ੍ਰੇਵ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਕੰ ਮਨਃ|
for where your treasure is, there also your heart will be.
35 ਅਪਰਞ੍ਚ ਯੂਯੰ ਪ੍ਰਦੀਪੰ ਜ੍ਵਾਲਯਿਤ੍ਵਾ ਬੱਧਕਟਯਸ੍ਤਿਸ਼਼੍ਠਤ;
'Let your loins be girded, and the lamps burning,
36 ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰ੍ਵਿਵਾਹਾਦਾਗਤ੍ਯ ਯਦੈਵ ਦ੍ਵਾਰਮਾਹਨ੍ਤਿ ਤਦੈਵ ਦ੍ਵਾਰੰ ਮੋਚਯਿਤੁੰ ਯਥਾ ਭ੍ਰੁʼਤ੍ਯਾ ਅਪੇਕ੍ਸ਼਼੍ਯ ਤਿਸ਼਼੍ਠਨ੍ਤਿ ਤਥਾ ਯੂਯਮਪਿ ਤਿਸ਼਼੍ਠਤ|
and ye like to men waiting for their lord, when he shall return out of the wedding feasts, that he having come and knocked, immediately they may open to him.
37 ਯਤਃ ਪ੍ਰਭੁਰਾਗਤ੍ਯ ਯਾਨ੍ ਦਾਸਾਨ੍ ਸਚੇਤਨਾਨ੍ ਤਿਸ਼਼੍ਠਤੋ ਦ੍ਰਕ੍ਸ਼਼੍ਯਤਿ ਤਏਵ ਧਨ੍ਯਾਃ; ਅਹੰ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਨ੍ ਯਥਾਰ੍ਥੰ ਵਦਾਮਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁਸ੍ਤਾਨ੍ ਭੋਜਨਾਰ੍ਥਮ੍ ਉਪਵੇਸ਼੍ਯ ਸ੍ਵਯੰ ਬੱਧਕਟਿਃ ਸਮੀਪਮੇਤ੍ਯ ਪਰਿਵੇਸ਼਼ਯਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਤਿ|
'Happy those servants, whom the lord, having come, shall find watching; verily I say to you, that he will gird himself, and will cause them to recline (at meat), and having come near, will minister to them;
38 ਯਦਿ ਦ੍ਵਿਤੀਯੇ ਤ੍ਰੁʼਤੀਯੇ ਵਾ ਪ੍ਰਹਰੇ ਸਮਾਗਤ੍ਯ ਤਥੈਵ ਪਸ਼੍ਯਤਿ, ਤਰ੍ਹਿ ਤਏਵ ਦਾਸਾ ਧਨ੍ਯਾਃ|
and if he may come in the second watch, and in the third watch he may come, and may find [it] so, happy are those servants.
39 ਅਪਰਞ੍ਚ ਕਸ੍ਮਿਨ੍ ਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਣੇ ਚੌਰਾ ਆਗਮਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਨ੍ਤਿ ਇਤਿ ਯਦਿ ਗ੍ਰੁʼਹਪਤਿ ਰ੍ਜ੍ਞਾਤੁੰ ਸ਼ਕ੍ਨੋਤਿ ਤਦਾਵਸ਼੍ਯੰ ਜਾਗ੍ਰਨ੍ ਨਿਜਗ੍ਰੁʼਹੇ ਸਨ੍ਧਿੰ ਕਰ੍ੱਤਯਿਤੁੰ ਵਾਰਯਤਿ ਯੂਯਮੇਤਦ੍ ਵਿੱਤ|
'And this know, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief doth come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken through;
40 ਅਤਏਵ ਯੂਯਮਪਿ ਸੱਜਮਾਨਾਸ੍ਤਿਸ਼਼੍ਠਤ ਯਤੋ ਯਸ੍ਮਿਨ੍ ਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਣੇ ਤੰ ਨਾਪ੍ਰੇਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਧ੍ਵੇ ਤਸ੍ਮਿੰਨੇਵ ਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਣੇ ਮਨੁਸ਼਼੍ਯਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਆਗਮਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਤਿ|
and ye, then, become ye ready, because at the hour ye think not, the Son of Man doth come.'
41 ਤਦਾ ਪਿਤਰਃ ਪਪ੍ਰੱਛ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੋ ਭਵਾਨ੍ ਕਿਮਸ੍ਮਾਨ੍ ਉੱਦਿਸ਼੍ਯ ਕਿੰ ਸਰ੍ੱਵਾਨ੍ ਉੱਦਿਸ਼੍ਯ ਦ੍ਰੁʼਸ਼਼੍ਟਾਨ੍ਤਕਥਾਮਿਮਾਂ ਵਦਤਿ?
And Peter said to him, 'Sir, unto us this simile dost thou speak, or also unto all?'
42 ਤਤਃ ਪ੍ਰਭੁਃ ਪ੍ਰੋਵਾਚ, ਪ੍ਰਭੁਃ ਸਮੁਚਿਤਕਾਲੇ ਨਿਜਪਰਿਵਾਰਾਰ੍ਥੰ ਭੋਜ੍ਯਪਰਿਵੇਸ਼਼ਣਾਯ ਯੰ ਤਤ੍ਪਦੇ ਨਿਯੋਕ੍ਸ਼਼੍ਯਤਿ ਤਾਦ੍ਰੁʼਸ਼ੋ ਵਿਸ਼੍ਵਾਸ੍ਯੋ ਬੋੱਧਾ ਕਰ੍ੰਮਾਧੀਸ਼ਃ ਕੋਸ੍ਤਿ?
And the Lord said, 'Who, then, is the faithful and prudent steward whom the lord shall set over his household, to give in season the wheat measure?
43 ਪ੍ਰਭੁਰਾਗਤ੍ਯ ਯਮ੍ ਏਤਾਦ੍ਰੁʼਸ਼ੇ ਕਰ੍ੰਮਣਿ ਪ੍ਰਵ੍ਰੁʼੱਤੰ ਦ੍ਰਕ੍ਸ਼਼੍ਯਤਿ ਸਏਵ ਦਾਸੋ ਧਨ੍ਯਃ|
Happy that servant, whom his lord, having come, shall find doing so;
44 ਅਹੰ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਨ੍ ਯਥਾਰ੍ਥੰ ਵਦਾਮਿ ਸ ਤੰ ਨਿਜਸਰ੍ੱਵਸ੍ਵਸ੍ਯਾਧਿਪਤਿੰ ਕਰਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਤਿ|
truly I say to you, that over all his goods he will set him.
45 ਕਿਨ੍ਤੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁਰ੍ਵਿਲਮ੍ਬੇਨਾਗਮਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਤਿ, ਇਤਿ ਵਿਚਿਨ੍ਤ੍ਯ ਸ ਦਾਸੋ ਯਦਿ ਤਦਨ੍ਯਦਾਸੀਦਾਸਾਨ੍ ਪ੍ਰਹਰ੍ੱਤੁਮ੍ ਭੋਕ੍ਤੁੰ ਪਾਤੁੰ ਮਦਿਤੁਞ੍ਚ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਭਤੇ,
'And if that servant may say in his heart, My lord doth delay to come, and may begin to beat the men-servants and the maid-servants, to eat also, and to drink, and to be drunken;
46 ਤਰ੍ਹਿ ਯਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁੰ ਨਾਪੇਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਤੇ ਯਸ੍ਮਿਨ੍ ਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਣੇ ਸੋ(ਅ)ਚੇਤਨਸ਼੍ਚ ਸ੍ਥਾਸ੍ਯਤਿ ਤਸ੍ਮਿੰਨੇਵ ਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਣੇ ਤਸ੍ਯ ਪ੍ਰਭੁਰਾਗਤ੍ਯ ਤੰ ਪਦਭ੍ਰਸ਼਼੍ਟੰ ਕ੍ਰੁʼਤ੍ਵਾ ਵਿਸ਼੍ਵਾਸਹੀਨੈਃ ਸਹ ਤਸ੍ਯ ਅੰਸ਼ੰ ਨਿਰੂਪਯਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਤਿ|
the lord of that servant will come in a day in which he doth not look for [him], and in an hour that he doth not know, and will cut him off, and his portion with the unfaithful he will appoint.
47 ਯੋ ਦਾਸਃ ਪ੍ਰਭੇਰਾਜ੍ਞਾਂ ਜ੍ਞਾਤ੍ਵਾਪਿ ਸੱਜਿਤੋ ਨ ਤਿਸ਼਼੍ਠਤਿ ਤਦਾਜ੍ਞਾਨੁਸਾਰੇਣ ਚ ਕਾਰ੍ੱਯੰ ਨ ਕਰੋਤਿ ਸੋਨੇਕਾਨ੍ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰਾਨ੍ ਪ੍ਰਾਪ੍ਸ੍ਯਤਿ;
'And that servant, who having known his lord's will, and not having prepared, nor having gone according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes,
48 ਕਿਨ੍ਤੁ ਯੋ ਜਨੋ(ਅ)ਜ੍ਞਾਤ੍ਵਾ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰਾਰ੍ਹੰ ਕਰ੍ੰਮ ਕਰੋਤਿ ਸੋਲ੍ਪਪ੍ਰਹਾਰਾਨ੍ ਪ੍ਰਾਪ੍ਸ੍ਯਤਿ| ਯਤੋ ਯਸ੍ਮੈ ਬਾਹੁਲ੍ਯੇਨ ਦੱਤੰ ਤਸ੍ਮਾਦੇਵ ਬਾਹੁਲ੍ਯੇਨ ਗ੍ਰਹੀਸ਼਼੍ਯਤੇ, ਮਾਨੁਸ਼਼ਾ ਯਸ੍ਯ ਨਿਕਟੇ ਬਹੁ ਸਮਰ੍ਪਯਨ੍ਤਿ ਤਸ੍ਮਾਦ੍ ਬਹੁ ਯਾਚਨ੍ਤੇ|
and he who, not having known, and having done things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few; and to every one to whom much was given, much shall be required from him; and to whom they did commit much, more abundantly they will ask of him.
49 ਅਹੰ ਪ੍ਰੁʼਥਿਵ੍ਯਾਮ੍ ਅਨੈਕ੍ਯਰੂਪੰ ਵਹ੍ਨਿ ਨਿਕ੍ਸ਼਼ੇਪ੍ਤੁਮ੍ ਆਗਤੋਸ੍ਮਿ, ਸ ਚੇਦ੍ ਇਦਾਨੀਮੇਵ ਪ੍ਰਜ੍ਵਲਤਿ ਤਤ੍ਰ ਮਮ ਕਾ ਚਿਨ੍ਤਾ?
'Fire I came to cast to the earth, and what will I if already it was kindled?
50 ਕਿਨ੍ਤੁ ਯੇਨ ਮੱਜਨੇਨਾਹੰ ਮਗ੍ਨੋ ਭਵਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਾਮਿ ਯਾਵਤ੍ਕਾਲੰ ਤਸ੍ਯ ਸਿੱਧਿ ਰ੍ਨ ਭਵਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਤਿ ਤਾਵਦਹੰ ਕਤਿਕਸ਼਼੍ਟੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪ੍ਸ੍ਯਾਮਿ|
but I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how am I pressed till it may be completed!
51 ਮੇਲਨੰ ਕਰ੍ੱਤੁੰ ਜਗਦ੍ ਆਗਤੋਸ੍ਮਿ ਯੂਯੰ ਕਿਮਿੱਥੰ ਬੋਧਧ੍ਵੇ? ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਨ੍ ਵਦਾਮਿ ਨ ਤਥਾ, ਕਿਨ੍ਤ੍ਵਹੰ ਮੇਲਨਾਭਾਵੰ ਕਰ੍ੱਤੁੰਮ੍ ਆਗਤੋਸ੍ਮਿ|
'Think ye that peace I came to give in the earth? no, I say to you, but rather division;
52 ਯਸ੍ਮਾਦੇਤਤ੍ਕਾਲਮਾਰਭ੍ਯ ਏਕਤ੍ਰਸ੍ਥਪਰਿਜਨਾਨਾਂ ਮਧ੍ਯੇ ਪਞ੍ਚਜਨਾਃ ਪ੍ਰੁʼਥਗ੍ ਭੂਤ੍ਵਾ ਤ੍ਰਯੋ ਜਨਾ ਦ੍ਵਯੋਰ੍ਜਨਯੋਃ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਕੂਲਾ ਦ੍ਵੌ ਜਨੌ ਚ ਤ੍ਰਯਾਣਾਂ ਜਨਾਨਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਕੂਲੌ ਭਵਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਨ੍ਤਿ|
for there shall be henceforth five in one house divided — three against two, and two against three;
53 ਪਿਤਾ ਪੁਤ੍ਰਸ੍ਯ ਵਿਪਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਃ ਪੁਤ੍ਰਸ਼੍ਚ ਪਿਤੁ ਰ੍ਵਿਪਕ੍ਸ਼਼ੋ ਭਵਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਤਿ ਮਾਤਾ ਕਨ੍ਯਾਯਾ ਵਿਪਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਾ ਕਨ੍ਯਾ ਚ ਮਾਤੁ ਰ੍ਵਿਪਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਾ ਭਵਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਤਿ, ਤਥਾ ਸ਼੍ਵਸ਼੍ਰੂਰ੍ਬਧ੍ਵਾ ਵਿਪਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਾ ਬਧੂਸ਼੍ਚ ਸ਼੍ਵਸ਼੍ਰ੍ਵਾ ਵਿਪਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਾ ਭਵਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਤਿ|
a father shall be divided against a son, and a son against a father, a mother against a daughter, and a daughter against a mother, a mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.'
54 ਸ ਲੋਕੇਭ੍ਯੋਪਰਮਪਿ ਕਥਯਾਮਾਸ, ਪਸ਼੍ਚਿਮਦਿਸ਼ਿ ਮੇਘੋਦ੍ਗਮੰ ਦ੍ਰੁʼਸ਼਼੍ਟ੍ਵਾ ਯੂਯੰ ਹਠਾਦ੍ ਵਦਥ ਵ੍ਰੁʼਸ਼਼੍ਟਿ ਰ੍ਭਵਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਤਿ ਤਤਸ੍ਤਥੈਵ ਜਾਯਤੇ|
And he said also to the multitudes, 'When ye may see the cloud rising from the west, immediately ye say, A shower doth come, and it is so;
55 ਅਪਰੰ ਦਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਿਣਤੋ ਵਾਯੌ ਵਾਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਵਦਥ ਨਿਦਾਘੋ ਭਵਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਤਿ ਤਤਃ ਸੋਪਿ ਜਾਯਤੇ|
and when — a south wind blowing, ye say, that there will be heat, and it is;
56 ਰੇ ਰੇ ਕਪਟਿਨ ਆਕਾਸ਼ਸ੍ਯ ਭੂਮ੍ਯਾਸ਼੍ਚ ਲਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਣੰ ਬੋੱਧੁੰ ਸ਼ਕ੍ਨੁਥ,
hypocrites! the face of the earth and of the heaven ye have known to make proof of, but this time — how do ye not make proof of [it]?
57 ਕਿਨ੍ਤੁ ਕਾਲਸ੍ਯਾਸ੍ਯ ਲਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਣੰ ਕੁਤੋ ਬੋੱਧੁੰ ਨ ਸ਼ਕ੍ਨੁਥ? ਯੂਯਞ੍ਚ ਸ੍ਵਯੰ ਕੁਤੋ ਨ ਨ੍ਯਾਸ਼਼੍ਯੰ ਵਿਚਾਰਯਥ?
'And why, also, of yourselves, judge ye not what is righteous?
58 ਅਪਰਞ੍ਚ ਵਿਵਾਦਿਨਾ ਸਾਰ੍ੱਧੰ ਵਿਚਾਰਯਿਤੁਃ ਸਮੀਪੰ ਗੱਛਨ੍ ਪਥਿ ਤਸ੍ਮਾਦੁੱਧਾਰੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪ੍ਤੁੰ ਯਤਸ੍ਵ ਨੋਚੇਤ੍ ਸ ਤ੍ਵਾਂ ਧ੍ਰੁʼਤ੍ਵਾ ਵਿਚਾਰਯਿਤੁਃ ਸਮੀਪੰ ਨਯਤਿ| ਵਿਚਾਰਯਿਤਾ ਯਦਿ ਤ੍ਵਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਹਰ੍ੱਤੁਃ ਸਮੀਪੰ ਸਮਰ੍ਪਯਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਹਰ੍ੱਤਾ ਤ੍ਵਾਂ ਕਾਰਾਯਾਂ ਬਧ੍ਨਾਤਿ
for, as thou art going away with thy opponent to the ruler, in the way give diligence to be released from him, lest he may drag thee unto the judge, and the judge may deliver thee to the officer, and the officer may cast thee into prison;
59 ਤਰ੍ਹਿ ਤ੍ਵਾਮਹੰ ਵਦਾਮਿ ਤ੍ਵਯਾ ਨਿਃਸ਼ੇਸ਼਼ੰ ਕਪਰ੍ਦਕੇਸ਼਼ੁ ਨ ਪਰਿਸ਼ੋਧਿਤੇਸ਼਼ੁ ਤ੍ਵੰ ਤਤੋ ਮੁਕ੍ਤਿੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪ੍ਤੁੰ ਨ ਸ਼ਕ੍ਸ਼਼੍ਯਸਿ|
I say to thee, thou mayest not come forth thence till even the last mite thou mayest give back.'
