ಯೋಹನಃ 3
1 ನಿಕದಿಮನಾಮಾ ಯಿಹೂದೀಯಾನಾಮ್ ಅಧಿಪತಿಃ ಫಿರೂಶೀ ಕ್ಷಣದಾಯಾಂ
And there was a man of the Pharisees, his name Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews;
2 ಯೀಶೌರಭ್ಯರ್ಣಮ್ ಆವ್ರಜ್ಯ ವ್ಯಾಹಾರ್ಷೀತ್, ಹೇ ಗುರೋ ಭವಾನ್ ಈಶ್ವರಾದ್ ಆಗತ್ ಏಕ ಉಪದೇಷ್ಟಾ, ಏತದ್ ಅಸ್ಮಾಭಿರ್ಜ್ಞಾಯತೇ; ಯತೋ ಭವತಾ ಯಾನ್ಯಾಶ್ಚರ್ಯ್ಯಕರ್ಮ್ಮಾಣಿ ಕ್ರಿಯನ್ತೇ ಪರಮೇಶ್ವರಸ್ಯ ಸಾಹಾಯ್ಯಂ ವಿನಾ ಕೇನಾಪಿ ತತ್ತತ್ಕರ್ಮ್ಮಾಣಿ ಕರ್ತ್ತುಂ ನ ಶಕ್ಯನ್ತೇ|
this one came to Him by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we have known that You have come from God—a teacher, for no one is able to do these signs that You do, if God may not be with him.”
3 ತದಾ ಯೀಶುರುತ್ತರಂ ದತ್ತವಾನ್ ತವಾಹಂ ಯಥಾರ್ಥತರಂ ವ್ಯಾಹರಾಮಿ ಪುನರ್ಜನ್ಮನಿ ನ ಸತಿ ಕೋಪಿ ಮಾನವ ಈಶ್ವರಸ್ಯ ರಾಜ್ಯಂ ದ್ರಷ್ಟುಂ ನ ಶಕ್ನೋತಿ|
Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone may not be born from above, he is not able to see the Kingdom of God”;
4 ತತೋ ನಿಕದೀಮಃ ಪ್ರತ್ಯವೋಚತ್ ಮನುಜೋ ವೃದ್ಧೋ ಭೂತ್ವಾ ಕಥಂ ಜನಿಷ್ಯತೇ? ಸ ಕಿಂ ಪುನ ರ್ಮಾತೃರ್ಜಠರಂ ಪ್ರವಿಶ್ಯ ಜನಿತುಂ ಶಕ್ನೋತಿ?
Nicodemus says to Him, “How is a man able to be born, being old? Is he able to enter into the womb of his mother a second time, and to be born?”
5 ಯೀಶುರವಾದೀದ್ ಯಥಾರ್ಥತರಮ್ ಅಹಂ ಕಥಯಾಮಿ ಮನುಜೇ ತೋಯಾತ್ಮಭ್ಯಾಂ ಪುನ ರ್ನ ಜಾತೇ ಸ ಈಶ್ವರಸ್ಯ ರಾಜ್ಯಂ ಪ್ರವೇಷ್ಟುಂ ನ ಶಕ್ನೋತಿ|
Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone may not be born of water and the Spirit, he is not able to enter into the Kingdom of God;
6 ಮಾಂಸಾದ್ ಯತ್ ಜಾಯತೇ ತನ್ ಮಾಂಸಮೇವ ತಥಾತ್ಮನೋ ಯೋ ಜಾಯತೇ ಸ ಆತ್ಮೈವ|
that which has been born of the flesh is flesh, and that which has been born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 ಯುಷ್ಮಾಭಿಃ ಪುನ ರ್ಜನಿತವ್ಯಂ ಮಮೈತಸ್ಯಾಂ ಕಥಾಯಾಮ್ ಆಶ್ಚರ್ಯಂ ಮಾ ಮಂಸ್ಥಾಃ|
You may not wonder that I said to you, It is required for you to be born from above;
8 ಸದಾಗತಿರ್ಯಾಂ ದಿಶಮಿಚ್ಛತಿ ತಸ್ಯಾಮೇವ ದಿಶಿ ವಾತಿ, ತ್ವಂ ತಸ್ಯ ಸ್ವನಂ ಶುಣೋಷಿ ಕಿನ್ತು ಸ ಕುತ ಆಯಾತಿ ಕುತ್ರ ಯಾತಿ ವಾ ಕಿಮಪಿ ನ ಜಾನಾಸಿ ತದ್ವಾದ್ ಆತ್ಮನಃ ಸಕಾಶಾತ್ ಸರ್ವ್ವೇಷಾಂ ಮನುಜಾನಾಂ ಜನ್ಮ ಭವತಿ|
the Spirit blows where [that] One wills, and you hear [that] One’s voice, but you have not known from where [that] One comes, and to where [that] One goes; thus is everyone who has been born of the Spirit.”
9 ತದಾ ನಿಕದೀಮಃ ಪೃಷ್ಟವಾನ್ ಏತತ್ ಕಥಂ ಭವಿತುಂ ಶಕ್ನೋತಿ?
Nicodemus answered and said to Him, “How are these things able to happen?”
10 ಯೀಶುಃ ಪ್ರತ್ಯಕ್ತವಾನ್ ತ್ವಮಿಸ್ರಾಯೇಲೋ ಗುರುರ್ಭೂತ್ವಾಪಿ ಕಿಮೇತಾಂ ಕಥಾಂ ನ ವೇತ್ಸಿ?
Jesus answered and said to him, “You are the teacher of Israel and you do not know these things?
11 ತುಭ್ಯಂ ಯಥಾರ್ಥಂ ಕಥಯಾಮಿ, ವಯಂ ಯದ್ ವಿದ್ಮಸ್ತದ್ ವಚ್ಮಃ ಯಂಚ್ಚ ಪಶ್ಯಾಮಸ್ತಸ್ಯೈವ ಸಾಕ್ಷ್ಯಂ ದದ್ಮಃ ಕಿನ್ತು ಯುಷ್ಮಾಭಿರಸ್ಮಾಕಂ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿತ್ವಂ ನ ಗೃಹ್ಯತೇ|
Truly, truly, I say to you, what We have known We speak, and what We have seen We testify, and you do not receive Our testimony;
12 ಏತಸ್ಯ ಸಂಸಾರಸ್ಯ ಕಥಾಯಾಂ ಕಥಿತಾಯಾಂ ಯದಿ ಯೂಯಂ ನ ವಿಶ್ವಸಿಥ ತರ್ಹಿ ಸ್ವರ್ಗೀಯಾಯಾಂ ಕಥಾಯಾಂ ಕಥಂ ವಿಶ್ವಸಿಷ್ಯಥ?
if I spoke to you of the earthly things, and you do not believe, how, if I will speak to you of the heavenly things, will you believe?
13 ಯಃ ಸ್ವರ್ಗೇಽಸ್ತಿ ಯಂ ಚ ಸ್ವರ್ಗಾದ್ ಅವಾರೋಹತ್ ತಂ ಮಾನವತನಯಂ ವಿನಾ ಕೋಪಿ ಸ್ವರ್ಗಂ ನಾರೋಹತ್|
And no one has gone up to Heaven, except He who came down out of Heaven—the Son of Man who is in Heaven.
14 ಅಪರಞ್ಚ ಮೂಸಾ ಯಥಾ ಪ್ರಾನ್ತರೇ ಸರ್ಪಂ ಪ್ರೋತ್ಥಾಪಿತವಾನ್ ಮನುಷ್ಯಪುತ್ರೋಽಪಿ ತಥೈವೋತ್ಥಾಪಿತವ್ಯಃ;
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so it is necessary for the Son of Man to be lifted up,
that everyone who is believing in Him may not perish, but may have continuous life, (aiōnios g166)
16 ಈಶ್ವರ ಇತ್ಥಂ ಜಗದದಯತ ಯತ್ ಸ್ವಮದ್ವಿತೀಯಂ ತನಯಂ ಪ್ರಾದದಾತ್ ತತೋ ಯಃ ಕಶ್ಚಿತ್ ತಸ್ಮಿನ್ ವಿಶ್ವಸಿಷ್ಯತಿ ಸೋಽವಿನಾಶ್ಯಃ ಸನ್ ಅನನ್ತಾಯುಃ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ಸ್ಯತಿ| (aiōnios g166)
for God so loved the world that He gave the only begotten Son, that everyone who is believing in Him may not perish, but may have continuous life. (aiōnios g166)
17 ಈಶ್ವರೋ ಜಗತೋ ಲೋಕಾನ್ ದಣ್ಡಯಿತುಂ ಸ್ವಪುತ್ರಂ ನ ಪ್ರೇಷ್ಯ ತಾನ್ ಪರಿತ್ರಾತುಂ ಪ್ರೇಷಿತವಾನ್|
For God did not send His Son into the world that He may judge the world, but that the world may be saved through Him;
18 ಅತಏವ ಯಃ ಕಶ್ಚಿತ್ ತಸ್ಮಿನ್ ವಿಶ್ವಸಿತಿ ಸ ದಣ್ಡಾರ್ಹೋ ನ ಭವತಿ ಕಿನ್ತು ಯಃ ಕಶ್ಚಿತ್ ತಸ್ಮಿನ್ ನ ವಿಶ್ವಸಿತಿ ಸ ಇದಾನೀಮೇವ ದಣ್ಡಾರ್ಹೋ ಭವತಿ, ಯತಃ ಸ ಈಶ್ವರಸ್ಯಾದ್ವಿತೀಯಪುತ್ರಸ್ಯ ನಾಮನಿ ಪ್ರತ್ಯಯಂ ನ ಕರೋತಿ|
he who is believing in Him is not judged, but he who is not believing has been judged already, because he has not believed in the Name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 ಜಗತೋ ಮಧ್ಯೇ ಜ್ಯೋತಿಃ ಪ್ರಾಕಾಶತ ಕಿನ್ತು ಮನುಷ್ಯಾಣಾಂ ಕರ್ಮ್ಮಣಾಂ ದೃಷ್ಟತ್ವಾತ್ ತೇ ಜ್ಯೋತಿಷೋಪಿ ತಿಮಿರೇ ಪ್ರೀಯನ್ತೇ ಏತದೇವ ದಣ್ಡಸ್ಯ ಕಾರಣಾಂ ಭವತಿ|
And this is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light, for their works were evil;
20 ಯಃ ಕುಕರ್ಮ್ಮ ಕರೋತಿ ತಸ್ಯಾಚಾರಸ್ಯ ದೃಷ್ಟತ್ವಾತ್ ಸ ಜ್ಯೋತಿರೄತೀಯಿತ್ವಾ ತನ್ನಿಕಟಂ ನಾಯಾತಿ;
for everyone who is doing wicked things hates the light, and does not come into the light, that his works may not be detected;
21 ಕಿನ್ತು ಯಃ ಸತ್ಕರ್ಮ್ಮ ಕರೋತಿ ತಸ್ಯ ಸರ್ವ್ವಾಣಿ ಕರ್ಮ್ಮಾಣೀಶ್ವರೇಣ ಕೃತಾನೀತಿ ಸಥಾ ಪ್ರಕಾಶತೇ ತದಭಿಪ್ರಾಯೇಣ ಸ ಜ್ಯೋತಿಷಃ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಮ್ ಆಯಾತಿ|
but he who is doing the truth comes into the light, that his works may be revealed, that in God they are having been worked.”
22 ತತಃ ಪರಮ್ ಯೀಶುಃ ಶಿಷ್ಯೈಃ ಸಾರ್ದ್ಧಂ ಯಿಹೂದೀಯದೇಶಂ ಗತ್ವಾ ತತ್ರ ಸ್ಥಿತ್ವಾ ಮಜ್ಜಯಿತುಮ್ ಆರಭತ|
After these things Jesus and His disciples came into the land of Judea, and there He tarried with them, and was immersing;
23 ತದಾ ಶಾಲಮ್ ನಗರಸ್ಯ ಸಮೀಪಸ್ಥಾಯಿನಿ ಐನನ್ ಗ್ರಾಮೇ ಬಹುತರತೋಯಸ್ಥಿತೇಸ್ತತ್ರ ಯೋಹನ್ ಅಮಜ್ಜಯತ್ ತಥಾ ಚ ಲೋಕಾ ಆಗತ್ಯ ತೇನ ಮಜ್ಜಿತಾ ಅಭವನ್|
and John was also immersing in Aenon, near to Salem, because there were many waters there, and they were coming and were being immersed—
24 ತದಾ ಯೋಹನ್ ಕಾರಾಯಾಂ ನ ಬದ್ಧಃ|
for John was not yet cast into the prison—
25 ಅಪರಞ್ಚ ಶಾಚಕರ್ಮ್ಮಣಿ ಯೋಹಾನಃ ಶಿಷ್ಯೈಃ ಸಹ ಯಿಹೂದೀಯಲೋಕಾನಾಂ ವಿವಾದೇ ಜಾತೇ, ತೇ ಯೋಹನಃ ಸಂನ್ನಿಧಿಂ ಗತ್ವಾಕಥಯನ್,
there arose then a question from the disciples of John with [some] Jews about purifying,
26 ಹೇ ಗುರೋ ಯರ್ದ್ದನನದ್ಯಾಃ ಪಾರೇ ಭವತಾ ಸಾರ್ದ್ಧಂ ಯ ಆಸೀತ್ ಯಸ್ಮಿಂಶ್ಚ ಭವಾನ್ ಸಾಕ್ಷ್ಯಂ ಪ್ರದದಾತ್ ಪಶ್ಯತು ಸೋಪಿ ಮಜ್ಜಯತಿ ಸರ್ವ್ವೇ ತಸ್ಯ ಸಮೀಪಂ ಯಾನ್ತಿ ಚ|
and they came to John and said to him, “Rabbi, He who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you testified, behold, this One is immersing, and all are coming to Him.”
27 ತದಾ ಯೋಹನ್ ಪ್ರತ್ಯವೋಚದ್ ಈಶ್ವರೇಣ ನ ದತ್ತೇ ಕೋಪಿ ಮನುಜಃ ಕಿಮಪಿ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತುಂ ನ ಶಕ್ನೋತಿ|
John answered and said, “A man is not able to receive anything if it may not have been given him from Heaven;
28 ಅಹಂ ಅಭಿಷಿಕ್ತೋ ನ ಭವಾಮಿ ಕಿನ್ತು ತದಗ್ರೇ ಪ್ರೇಷಿತೋಸ್ಮಿ ಯಾಮಿಮಾಂ ಕಥಾಂ ಕಥಿತವಾನಾಹಂ ತತ್ರ ಯೂಯಂ ಸರ್ವ್ವೇ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಣಃ ಸ್ಥ|
you yourselves testify to me that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am having been sent before Him;
29 ಯೋ ಜನಃ ಕನ್ಯಾಂ ಲಭತೇ ಸ ಏವ ವರಃ ಕಿನ್ತು ವರಸ್ಯ ಸನ್ನಿಧೌ ದಣ್ಡಾಯಮಾನಂ ತಸ್ಯ ಯನ್ಮಿತ್ರಂ ತೇನ ವರಸ್ಯ ಶಬ್ದೇ ಶ್ರುತೇಽತೀವಾಹ್ಲಾದ್ಯತೇ ಮಮಾಪಿ ತದ್ವದ್ ಆನನ್ದಸಿದ್ಧಿರ್ಜಾತಾ|
He who is having the bride is bridegroom, and the friend of the bridegroom, who is standing and hearing Him, rejoices with joy because of the voice of the bridegroom; this, then, my joy has been fulfilled.
30 ತೇನ ಕ್ರಮಶೋ ವರ್ದ್ಧಿತವ್ಯಂ ಕಿನ್ತು ಮಯಾ ಹ್ಸಿತವ್ಯಂ|
It is necessary [for] Him to increase, and me to become less;
31 ಯ ಊರ್ಧ್ವಾದಾಗಚ್ಛತ್ ಸ ಸರ್ವ್ವೇಷಾಂ ಮುಖ್ಯೋ ಯಶ್ಚ ಸಂಸಾರಾದ್ ಉದಪದ್ಯತ ಸ ಸಾಂಸಾರಿಕಃ ಸಂಸಾರೀಯಾಂ ಕಥಾಞ್ಚ ಕಥಯತಿ ಯಸ್ತು ಸ್ವರ್ಗಾದಾಗಚ್ಛತ್ ಸ ಸರ್ವ್ವೇಷಾಂ ಮುಖ್ಯಃ|
He who is coming from above is above all; he who is from the earth, from the earth he is, and from the earth he speaks; He who is coming from Heaven is above all.
32 ಸ ಯದಪಶ್ಯದಶೃಣೋಚ್ಚ ತಸ್ಮಿನ್ನೇವ ಸಾಕ್ಷ್ಯಂ ದದಾತಿ ತಥಾಪಿ ಪ್ರಾಯಶಃ ಕಶ್ಚಿತ್ ತಸ್ಯ ಸಾಕ್ಷ್ಯಂ ನ ಗೃಹ್ಲಾತಿ;
And what He has seen and heard—this He testifies, and none receives His testimony;
33 ಕಿನ್ತು ಯೋ ಗೃಹ್ಲಾತಿ ಸ ಈಶ್ವರಸ್ಯ ಸತ್ಯವಾದಿತ್ವಂ ಮುದ್ರಾಙ್ಗಿತಂ ಕರೋತಿ|
he who is receiving His testimony sealed that God is true;
34 ಈಶ್ವರೇಣ ಯಃ ಪ್ರೇರಿತಃ ಸಏವ ಈಶ್ವರೀಯಕಥಾಂ ಕಥಯತಿ ಯತ ಈಶ್ವರ ಆತ್ಮಾನಂ ತಸ್ಮೈ ಅಪರಿಮಿತಮ್ ಅದದಾತ್|
for He whom God sent, He speaks the sayings of God; for God does not give the Spirit by measure;
35 ಪಿತಾ ಪುತ್ರೇ ಸ್ನೇಹಂ ಕೃತ್ವಾ ತಸ್ಯ ಹಸ್ತೇ ಸರ್ವ್ವಾಣಿ ಸಮರ್ಪಿತವಾನ್|
the Father loves the Son, and has given all things into His hand;
36 ಯಃ ಕಶ್ಚಿತ್ ಪುತ್ರೇ ವಿಶ್ವಸಿತಿ ಸ ಏವಾನನ್ತಮ್ ಪರಮಾಯುಃ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ನೋತಿ ಕಿನ್ತು ಯಃ ಕಶ್ಚಿತ್ ಪುತ್ರೇ ನ ವಿಶ್ವಸಿತಿ ಸ ಪರಮಾಯುಷೋ ದರ್ಶನಂ ನ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ನೋತಿ ಕಿನ್ತ್ವೀಶ್ವರಸ್ಯ ಕೋಪಭಾಜನಂ ಭೂತ್ವಾ ತಿಷ್ಠತಿ| (aiōnios g166)
he who is believing in the Son has continuous life; and he who is not believing the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.” (aiōnios g166)
