1 yAvantaH pavitrA lokAH sveSAm asmAkaJca vasatisthAneSvasmAkaM prabho ryIzoH khrISTasya nAmnA prArthayante taiH sahAhUtAnAM khrISTena yIzunA pavitrIkRtAnAM lokAnAM ya IzvarIyadharmmasamAjaH karinthanagare vidyate

Paul by vocacion an Apostle of Iesus Christ thorow the will of God and brother Sostenes.

2 taM pratIzvarasyecchayAhUto yIzukhrISTasya preritaH paulaH sosthininAmA bhrAtA ca patraM likhati|

Vnto the congregacion of God which is at Corinthum. To them that are sanctified in Christ Iesu sainctes by callynge with all that call on the name of oure lorde Iesus Christ in every place both of theirs and of oures

3 asmAkaM pitrezvareNa prabhunA yIzukhrISTena ca prasAdaH zAntizca yuSmabhyaM dIyatAM|

Grace be with you and peace fro God oure father and from the lorde Iesus Christ.

4 Izvaro yIzukhrISTena yuSmAn prati prasAdaM prakAzitavAn, tasmAdahaM yuSmannimittaM sarvvadA madIyezvaraM dhanyaM vadAmi|

I thanke my God all wayes on youre behalfe for ye grace of God which is geuen you by Iesus Christ

5 khrISTasambandhIyaM sAkSyaM yuSmAkaM madhye yena prakAreNa sapramANam abhavat

that in all thinges ve are made riche by him in all lerninge and in all knowledge

6 tena yUyaM khrISTAt sarvvavidhavaktRtAjJAnAdIni sarvvadhanAni labdhavantaH|

even as the testimony of Iesus Christ was confermed in you)

7 tato'smatprabho ryIzukhrISTasya punarAgamanaM pratIkSamANAnAM yuSmAkaM kasyApi varasyAbhAvo na bhavati|

so that ye are behynde in no gyft and wayte for the apperynge of oure lorde Iesus Christ

8 aparam asmAkaM prabho ryIzukhrISTasya divase yUyaM yannirddoSA bhaveta tadarthaM saeva yAvadantaM yuSmAn susthirAn kariSyati|

which shall streght you vnto ye ende that ye maye be blamelesse in ye daye of oure lorde Iesus Christ.

9 ya IzvaraH svaputrasyAsmatprabho ryIzukhrISTasyAMzinaH karttuM yuSmAn AhUtavAn sa vizvasanIyaH|

ffor god is faythfull by whom ye are called vnto ye fellishyppe of his sonne Iesus Christe oure lorde

10 he bhrAtaraH, asmAkaM prabhuyIzukhrISTasya nAmnA yuSmAn vinaye'haM sarvvai ryuSmAbhirekarUpANi vAkyAni kathyantAM yuSmanmadhye bhinnasaGghAtA na bhavantu manovicArayoraikyena yuSmAkaM siddhatvaM bhavatu|

I beseche you brethre in ye name of oure lorde Iesus Christ that ye all speake one thynge and that there be no dissencion amoge you: but be ye knyt together in one mynde and in one meaynge.

11 he mama bhrAtaro yuSmanmadhye vivAdA jAtA iti vArttAmahaM kloyyAH parijanai rjJApitaH|

It is shewed vnto me (my brethren) of you by them that are of the housse of Cloe that ther is stryfe amonge you. And this is it that I meane:

12 mamAbhipretamidaM yuSmAkaM kazcit kazcid vadati paulasya ziSyo'ham ApalloH ziSyo'haM kaiphAH ziSyo'haM khrISTasya ziSyo'hamiti ca|

how that comelie amonge you one sayeth: I holde of Paul: another I holde of Apollo: ye thyrde I holde of Cephas: ye four ye I holde of Christ.

13 khrISTasya kiM vibhedaH kRtaH? paulaH kiM yuSmatkRte kruze hataH? paulasya nAmnA vA yUyaM kiM majjitAH?

Ys Christ devided? was Paul crucified for you? ether were ye baptised in ye name of Paul?

14 kriSpagAyau vinA yuSmAkaM madhye'nyaH ko'pi mayA na majjita iti hetoraham IzvaraM dhanyaM vadAmi|

I thanke God that I christened none of you but Crispus and Gayus

15 etena mama nAmnA mAnavA mayA majjitA iti vaktuM kenApi na zakyate|

lest eny shulde saye that I had baptised in myne awne name.

16 aparaM stiphAnasya parijanA mayA majjitAstadanyaH kazcid yanmayA majjitastadahaM na vedmi|

I baptised also the housse of Stephana. Forthermore knowe I not whether I baptised eny man or no.

17 khrISTenAhaM majjanArthaM na preritaH kintu susaMvAdasya pracArArthameva; so'pi vAkpaTutayA mayA na pracAritavyaH, yatastathA pracArite khrISTasya kruze mRtyuH phalahIno bhaviSyati|

For Christ sent me not to baptyse but to preache ye gospell not with wysdome of wordes lest the crosse of Christ shuld have bene made of none effecte.

18 yato heto rye vinazyanti te tAM kruzasya vArttAM pralApamiva manyante kiJca paritrANaM labhamAneSvasmAsu sA IzvarIyazaktisvarUpA|

For ye preachinge of the crosse is to them yt perisshe folishnes: but vnto vs which are saved it is ye power of God.

19 tasmAditthaM likhitamAste, jJAnavatAntu yat jJAnaM tanmayA nAzayiSyate| vilopayiSyate tadvad buddhi rbaddhimatAM mayA||

For it is written: I will destroye the wysdome of the wyse and will cast awaye the vnderstondinge of the prudet.

20 jJAnI kutra? zAstrI vA kutra? ihalokasya vicAratatparo vA kutra? ihalokasya jJAnaM kimIzvareNa mohIkRtaM nahi? (aiōn g165)

Where is the wyse? Where is the scrybe? Where is the searcher of this worlde? Hath not God made the wysdome of this worlde folisshnes? (aiōn g165)

21 Izvarasya jJAnAd ihalokasya mAnavAH svajJAnenezvarasya tattvabodhaM na prAptavantastasmAd IzvaraH pracArarUpiNA pralApena vizvAsinaH paritrAtuM rocitavAn|

For when the worlde thorow wysdome knew not God in ye wysdome of God: it pleased God thorow folisshnes of preachinge to save them yt beleve.

22 yihUdIyalokA lakSaNAni didRkSanti bhinnadezIyalokAstu vidyAM mRgayante,

For ye Iewes requyre a signe and the Grekes seke after wysdome.

23 vayaJca kruze hataM khrISTaM pracArayAmaH| tasya pracAro yihUdIyai rvighna iva bhinnadezIyaizca pralApa iva manyate,

But we preache Christ crucified vnto the Iewes an occasion of fallinge and vnto the Grekes folisshnes:

24 kintu yihUdIyAnAM bhinnadezIyAnAJca madhye ye AhUtAsteSu sa khrISTa IzvarIyazaktirivezvarIyajJAnamiva ca prakAzate|

but vnto the which are called both of Iewes and Grekes we preache Christ ye power of God and the wysdome of God.

25 yata Izvare yaH pralApa Aropyate sa mAnavAtiriktaM jJAnameva yacca daurbbalyam Izvara Aropyate tat mAnavAtiriktaM balameva|

For the folishnes of God is wyser then me: and the weakenes of God is stronger then men.

26 he bhrAtaraH, AhUtayuSmadgaNo yaSmAbhirAlokyatAM tanmadhye sAMsArikajJAnena jJAnavantaH parAkramiNo vA kulInA vA bahavo na vidyante|

Brethren loke on youre callinge how that not many wyse men after the flesshe not many myghty not many of hye degre are called:

27 yata Izvaro jJAnavatastrapayituM mUrkhalokAn rocitavAn balAni ca trapayitum Izvaro durbbalAn rocitavAn|

but God hath chosen the folysshe thinges of the worlde to confounde the wyse. And God hath chosyn the weake thinges of the worlde to confounde thinges which are mighty.

28 tathA varttamAnalokAn saMsthitibhraSTAn karttum Izvaro jagato'pakRSTAn heyAn avarttamAnAMzcAbhirocitavAn|

And vile thinges of the worlde and thinges which are despysed hath God chosen yee and thinges of no reputacion for to brynge to nought thinges of reputacion

29 tata Izvarasya sAkSAt kenApyAtmazlAghA na karttavyA|

that no flesshe shulde reioyce in his presence.

30 yUyaJca tasmAt khrISTe yIzau saMsthitiM prAptavantaH sa IzvarAd yuSmAkaM jJAnaM puNyaM pavitratvaM muktizca jAtA|

And vnto him partayne ye in Christ Iesu which of God is made vnto vs wysdome and also rightewesnes and saunctifyinge and redempcion.

31 ataeva yadvad likhitamAste tadvat, yaH kazcit zlAghamAnaH syAt zlAghatAM prabhunA sa hi|

That accordinge as it is written: he which reioyseth shulde reioyce in the Lorde.
