Rute 4

1 Agora Boaz subiu até o portão e sentou-se lá embaixo. Eis que o parente próximo de quem Boaz falou passou por aqui. Boaz disse-lhe: “Venha aqui, amigo, e sente-se”. Ele veio até aqui e sentou-se.

Now Boaz went up to the gate, and sat him down there; and, behold, the near kinsman of whom Boaz spoke came by; unto whom he said: 'Ho, such a one! turn aside, sit down here.' And he turned aside, and sat down.

2 Boaz levou dez homens dos anciãos da cidade, e disse: “Sente-se aqui”, e eles se sentaram.

And he took ten men of the elders of the city, and said: 'Sit ye down here.' And they sat down.

3 Ele disse ao parente próximo: “Naomi, que voltou do país de Moab, está vendendo a parcela de terra, que era de nosso irmão Elimelech.

And he said unto the near kinsman: 'Naomi, that is come back out of the field of Moab, selleth the parcel of land, which was our brother Elimelech's;

4 Achei que deveria dizer-lhes, dizendo: “Comprem-no diante daqueles que se sentam aqui, e diante dos anciãos do meu povo”. Se você vai resgatá-la, resgate-a; mas se você não vai resgatá-la, então me diga, que eu posso saber. Pois não há ninguém que o resgate além de vocês; e eu estou atrás de vocês”. Ele disse: “Eu vou redimi-lo”.

and I thought to disclose it unto thee, saying: Buy it before them that sit here, and before the elders of my people. If thou wilt redeem it, redeem it; but if it will not be redeemed, then tell me, that I may know; for there is none to redeem it beside thee; and I am after thee.' And he said: 'I will redeem it.'

5 Então Boaz disse: “No dia em que você comprar o campo da mão de Naomi, você deve comprá-lo também de Ruth, a moabita, a esposa do falecido, para levantar o nome do falecido em sua herança”.

Then said Boaz: 'What day thou buyest the field of the hand of Naomi — hast thou also bought of Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance?'

6 O parente próximo disse: “Não posso redimi-lo por mim mesmo, para não pôr em perigo minha própria herança. Tome meu direito de redenção para si mesmo; pois não posso redimi-lo”.

And the near kinsman said: 'I cannot redeem it for myself, lest I mar mine own inheritance; take thou my right of redemption on thee; for I cannot redeem it.' —

7 Agora, este era o costume no passado em Israel no que diz respeito à redenção e à troca, para confirmar tudo: um homem tirou sua sandália e a deu ao seu vizinho; e esta era a forma de formalizar as transações em Israel.

Now this was the custom in former time in Israel concerning redeeming and concerning exchanging, to confirm all things: a man drew off his shoe, and gave it to his neighbour; and this was the attestation in Israel. —

8 Então o parente próximo disse a Boaz: “Compre-a para você”, depois ele tirou sua sandália.

So the near kinsman said unto Boaz: 'Buy it for thyself.' And he drew off his shoe.

9 Boaz disse aos anciãos e a todo o povo: “Vocês são testemunhas hoje, que comprei tudo o que era de Elimelech, e tudo o que era de Chilion e Mahlon, da mão de Naomi.

And Boaz said unto the elders, and unto all the people: 'Ye are witnesses this day, that I have bought all that was Elimelech's, and all that was Chilion's and Mahlon's, of the hand of Naomi.

10 Além disso, Ruth, a moabita, esposa de Mahlon, eu comprei para ser minha esposa, para levantar o nome dos mortos em sua herança, para que o nome dos mortos não seja cortado de entre seus irmãos e do portão de seu lugar. Vocês são testemunhas hoje”.

Moreover Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, have I acquired to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance, that the name of the dead be not cut off from among his brethren, and from the gate of his place; ye are witnesses this day.'

11 Todas as pessoas que estavam no portão, e os anciãos, disseram: “Somos testemunhas”. Que Javé faça a mulher que entrou em sua casa como Raquel e como Léia, que construíram a casa de Israel; e o trate dignamente em Efrata, e seja famoso em Belém.

And all the people that were in the gate, and the elders, said: 'We are witnesses. The LORD make the woman that is come into thy house like Rachel and like Leah, which two did build the house of Israel; and do thou worthily in Ephrath, and be famous in Beth-lehem;

12 Que sua casa seja como a casa de Perez, que Tamar deu a Judá, da descendência que Iavé lhe dará por esta jovem mulher”.

and let thy house be like the house of Perez, whom Tamar bore unto Judah, of the seed which the LORD shall give thee of this young woman.'

13 Então Boaz levou Ruth e ela se tornou sua esposa; e ele foi até ela, e Yahweh permitiu que ela concebesse, e ela deu à luz um filho.

So Boaz took Ruth, and she became his wife; and he went in unto her, and the LORD gave her conception, and she bore a son.

14 As mulheres disseram a Noemi: “Bendito seja Javé, que não te deixou hoje sem um parente próximo”. Que seu nome seja famoso em Israel”.

And the women said unto Naomi: 'Blessed be the LORD, who hath not left thee this day without a near kinsman, and let his name be famous in Israel.

15 Ele será para você um restaurador da vida e o sustentará em sua velhice; pois sua nora, que o ama, que é melhor para você do que sete filhos, deu à luz a ele”.

And he shall be unto thee a restorer of life, and a nourisher of thine old age; for thy daughter-in-law, who loveth thee, who is better to thee than seven sons, hath borne him.'

16 Noemi tomou a criança, colocou-o em seu seio e tornou-se enfermeira para ele.

And Naomi took the child, and laid it in her bosom, and became nurse unto it.

17 As mulheres, suas vizinhas, deram-lhe um nome, dizendo: “Nasceu um filho para Noemi”. Deram-lhe o nome de Obed. Ele é o pai de Jesse, o pai de David.

And the women her neighbours gave it a name, saying: 'There is a son born to Naomi'; and they called his name Obed; he is the father of Jesse, the father of David.

18 Now esta é a história das gerações de Perez: Perez tornou-se o pai de Hezron,

Now these are the generations of Perez: Perez begot Hezron;

19 e Hezron tornou-se o pai de Ram, e Ram tornou-se o pai de Amminadab,

and Hezron begot Ram, and Ram begot Amminadab;

20 e Amminadab tornou-se o pai de Nahshon, e Nahshon tornou-se o pai de Salmon,

and Amminadab begot Nahshon, and Nahshon begot Salmon;

21 e Salmon tornou-se o pai de Boaz, e Boaz tornou-se o pai de Obed,

and Salmon begot Boaz, and Boaz begot Obed;

22 e Obed tornou-se o pai de Jesse, e Jesse tornou-se o pai de David.

and Obed begot Jesse, and Jesse begot David.
