Jeremias 8

1 “Naquele tempo”, diz Javé, “eles trarão os ossos dos reis de Judá, os ossos de seus príncipes, os ossos dos sacerdotes, os ossos dos profetas e os ossos dos habitantes de Jerusalém, para fora de seus túmulos”.

"At that time," says the LORD, "they shall bring out the bones of the kings of Judah, and the bones of his officials, and the bones of the priests, and the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, out of their graves;

2 Eles os espalharão diante do sol, da lua e de todo o exército do céu, que eles amaram, que serviram, depois dos quais caminharam, que procuraram e que adoraram. Eles não serão reunidos ou enterrados. Eles serão como esterco na superfície da terra.

and they shall spread them before the sun, and the moon, and all the host of heaven, which they have loved, and which they have served, and after which they have walked, and which they have sought, and which they have worshiped: they shall not be gathered, nor be buried, they shall be for dung on the surface of the earth.

3 A morte será escolhida em vez da vida por todos os resíduos que restam desta família maligna, que permanecem em todos os lugares onde eu os conduzi”, diz Yahweh dos Exércitos.

Death shall be chosen rather than life by all the residue that remain of this evil family, that remain in all the places where I have driven them," says the LORD of hosts.

4 “Além disso, você lhes dirá: 'Yahweh diz: “'Os homens caem e não se levantam de novo? Será que se vira costas e não se volta?

"Moreover you shall tell them, 'Thus says the LORD: Shall men fall, and not rise up again? Shall one turn away, and not return?

5 Por que, então, o povo de Jerusalém caiu de volta por um retrocesso perpétuo? Eles se agarram ao engano. Eles se recusam a retornar.

Why then do these people of Jerusalem turn away in perpetual backsliding? They hold fast deceit; they refuse to return.

6 Eu escutei e ouvi, mas eles não disseram o que é certo. Ninguém se arrepende de sua maldade, dizendo: “O que eu fiz”? Todos se voltam para seu curso, como um cavalo que se apressa de cabeça na batalha.

I listened and heard, but they did not speak what is right: no man repents him of his wickedness, saying, "What have I done?" Everyone turns to his course, as a horse that rushes headlong in the battle.

7 Sim, a cegonha no céu conhece os tempos que lhe foram indicados. A rola, a andorinha e a grua observam a hora de sua chegada; mas meu povo não conhece a lei de Yahweh.

Yes, the stork in the sky knows her appointed times; and the turtledove and the swallow and the crane observe the time of their coming; but my people do not know the LORD's law.

8 “'Como se diz: “Somos sábios, e a lei de Javé está conosco”? Mas, eis que a falsa caneta dos escribas fez disso uma mentira.

How can you say, "We are wise, and the law of the LORD is with us?" But, look, the lying pen of the scribes has worked falsehood.

9 Os homens sábios estão desapontados. Eles estão consternados e encurralados. Eis que eles rejeitaram a palavra de Javé. Que tipo de sabedoria está neles?

The wise men are disappointed, they are dismayed and taken: look, they have rejected the word of the LORD; and what kind of wisdom is in them?

10 Portanto, darei suas esposas a outros e seus campos para aqueles que os possuirão. Para todos, desde o menor até o maior, a cobiça é dada à cobiça; desde o profeta até o sacerdote, todos negociam falsamente.

therefore I will give their wives to others, and their fields to those who shall possess them: for everyone from the least even to the greatest is given to covetousness; from the prophet even to the priest every one deals falsely.

11 Eles curaram ligeiramente a ferida da filha do meu povo, dizendo, “Paz, paz”, quando não há paz.

They have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people superficially, saying, "Peace, peace;" when there is no peace.

12 Eles tinham vergonha quando cometeram abominação? Não, eles não tinham vergonha nenhuma. Eles não conseguiam corar. Portanto, eles cairão entre aqueles que caem. No momento de sua visita, eles serão lançados para baixo, diz Yahweh.

Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? No. They were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore shall they fall among those who fall; in the time of their visitation they shall be cast down, says the LORD.

13 “'Eu os consumirei totalmente, diz Yahweh. Nenhuma uva estará na videira, sem figos na figueira, e a folha se desvanecerá. As coisas que eu lhes dei falecerão deles'”.

I will utterly consume them, says the LORD: no grapes shall be on the vine, nor figs on the fig tree, and the leaf shall fade; and the things that I have given them shall pass away from them.'"

14 “Por que ficamos quietos? Monte-se! Vamos entrar nas cidades fortificadas, e vamos ficar em silêncio lá; para Yahweh nosso Deus nos colocou em silêncio, e nos deu água envenenada para beber, porque pecamos contra Yahweh.

"Why do we sit still? Assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the fortified cities, and let us be silent there; for the LORD our God has put us to silence, and given us water of gall to drink, because we have sinned against the LORD.

15 We buscou a paz, mas nenhum bem veio; e por um tempo de cura, e eis que o desânimo!

We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of healing, and look, dismay.

16 O cheiro de seus cavalos é ouvido de Dan. Toda a terra treme ao som do relinchar de seus fortes; pois eles vieram, e devoraram a terra e tudo o que nela existe, a cidade e aqueles que nela habitam”.

The snorting of his horses is heard from Dan: at the sound of the neighing of his strong ones the whole land trembles; for they have come, and have devoured the land and all that is in it; the city and those who dwell in it.

17 “Pois, eis que eu enviarei serpentes, vendedores entre vocês, que não será encantada; e eles o morderão”, diz Yahweh.

For, look, I will send serpents, adders, among you, which will not be charmed; and they shall bite you," says the LORD.

18 Oh que eu poderia me consolar contra a tristeza! Meu coração está desmaiado dentro de mim.

"My joy for me is sorrow. My heart is faint within me.

19 Eis a voz do grito da filha do meu povo de uma terra que está muito distante: “Iahweh não está em Zion? O rei dela não está dentro dela?” “Por que eles me provocaram à raiva com suas imagens gravadas”, e com ídolos estrangeiros”...

Look, the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people from a land that is very far off: 'Isn't the LORD in Zion? Isn't her King in her?'" "Why have they provoked me to anger with their engraved images, and with foreign vanities?"

20 “A colheita é passada. O verão terminou, e nós não estamos salvos”.

"'The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.'

21 Pela dor da filha do meu povo, eu estou ferido. Eu lamento. A consternação tomou conta de mim.

For the hurt of the daughter of my people am I hurt: I mourn; dismay has taken hold on me.

22 Não há bálsamo em Gilead? Não há um médico lá? Por que então a saúde da filha do meu povo não está recuperada?

Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then isn't the health of the daughter of my people recovered?
