Jeremias 20
1 Agora Pashhur, o filho de Immer, o sacerdote, que era chefe na casa de Yahweh, ouviu Jeremias profetizar estas coisas.
Now Pashhur, the son of Immer the priest, who was chief officer in the LORD’s house, heard Jeremiah prophesying these things.
2 Então Pashhur atingiu Jeremias, o profeta, e o colocou no estoque que estava no portão superior de Benjamim, que estava na casa de Yahweh.
Then Pashhur struck Jeremiah the prophet and put him in the stocks that were in the upper gate of Benjamin, which was in the LORD’s house.
3 No dia seguinte, Pashhur libertou Jeremias das ações. Então Jeremias lhe disse: “Yahweh não chamou seu nome Pashhur, mas Magormissabibe”.
On the next day, Pashhur released Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then Jeremiah said to him, “The LORD has not called your name Pashhur, but Magormissabib.
4 Pois Javé diz: “Eis que farei de você um terror para si mesmo e para todos os seus amigos”. Eles cairão pela espada de seus inimigos, e seus olhos verão isso. Eu entregarei todo Judá na mão do rei da Babilônia, e ele os levará cativos para Babilônia, e os matará com a espada”.
For the LORD says, ‘Behold, I will make you a terror to yourself and to all your friends. They will fall by the sword of their enemies, and your eyes will see it. I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will carry them captive to Babylon, and will kill them with the sword.
5 Moreover Darei todas as riquezas desta cidade, e todos os seus ganhos, e todas as suas preciosidades, sim, entregarei todos os tesouros dos reis de Judá na mão de seus inimigos. Eles os farão cativos, os levarão e os levarão para a Babilônia.
Moreover I will give all the riches of this city, and all its gains, and all its precious things, yes, I will give all the treasures of the kings of Judah into the hand of their enemies. They will make them captives, take them, and carry them to Babylon.
6 Você, Pashhur, e todos os que habitam em sua casa irão para o cativeiro. Você virá para a Babilônia, e lá morrerá, e lá será enterrado, você e todos os seus amigos, aos quais profetizou falsamente”.
You, Pashhur, and all who dwell in your house will go into captivity. You will come to Babylon, and there you will die, and there you will be buried, you, and all your friends, to whom you have prophesied falsely.’”
7 Yahweh, você me persuadiu, e eu fui persuadido. Você é mais forte que eu e tem prevalecido. Eu me tornei motivo de riso o dia todo. Todos zombam de mim.
LORD, you have persuaded me, and I was persuaded. You are stronger than I, and have prevailed. I have become a laughingstock all day. Everyone mocks me.
8 Pois, por mais que eu fale, eu grito; Eu choro: “Violência e destruição!” porque a palavra de Yahweh foi feita uma reprovação para mim, e um escárnio, o dia todo.
For as often as I speak, I cry out; I cry, “Violence and destruction!” because the LORD’s word has been made a reproach to me, and a derision, all day.
9 Se eu disser que não vou fazer menção a ele, ou falar mais em seu nome, então há no meu coração como que um fogo ardente calado nos meus ossos. Estou cansado de segurá-lo. Eu não posso.
If I say that I will not make mention of him, or speak any more in his name, then there is in my heart as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones. I am weary with holding it in. I can’t.
10 Pois já ouvi a difamação de muitos: “Terror em todos os lados! Denuncie, e nós o denunciaremos”! dizem todos os meus amigos familiares, aqueles que estão atentos à minha queda. “Talvez ele seja persuadido, e nós prevaleceremos contra ele, e nos vingaremos dele”.
For I have heard the defaming of many: “Terror on every side! Denounce, and we will denounce him!” say all my familiar friends, those who watch for my fall. “Perhaps he will be persuaded, and we will prevail against him, and we will take our revenge on him.”
11 Mas Yahweh está comigo como um grande e poderoso. Portanto, meus perseguidores tropeçarão, e eles não prevalecerão. Eles ficarão totalmente desapontados porque eles não lidaram sabiamente, mesmo com uma desonra eterna que jamais será esquecida.
But the LORD is with me as an awesome mighty one. Therefore my persecutors will stumble, and they won’t prevail. They will be utterly disappointed because they have not dealt wisely, even with an everlasting dishonor which will never be forgotten.
12 Mas Yahweh dos Exércitos, que testa os justos, que vê o coração e a mente, deixe-me ver sua vingança sobre eles, pois eu revelei minha causa a vocês.
But the LORD of Hosts, who tests the righteous, who sees the heart and the mind, let me see your vengeance on them, for I have revealed my cause to you.
13 Cante para Yahweh! Louvado seja Yahweh, pois ele libertou a alma dos necessitados da mão dos malfeitores.
Sing to the LORD! Praise the LORD, for he has delivered the soul of the needy from the hand of evildoers.
14 Amaldiçoado é o dia em que nasci. Não deixe que o dia em que minha mãe me aborreceu seja abençoado.
Cursed is the day in which I was born. Don’t let the day in which my mother bore me be blessed.
15 Amaldiçoado é o homem que trouxe notícias para meu pai, dizendo, “Um menino nasce para você”, fazendo-o muito feliz.
Cursed is the man who brought news to my father, saying, “A boy is born to you,” making him very glad.
16 Que esse homem seja como as cidades que Yahweh derrubou, e não se arrependeu. Deixe-o ouvir um grito pela manhã, e gritando ao meio-dia,
Let that man be as the cities which the LORD overthrew, and didn’t repent. Let him hear a cry in the morning, and shouting at noontime,
17 porque ele não me matou desde o ventre. Assim, minha mãe teria sido meu túmulo, e seu ventre sempre ótimo.
because he didn’t kill me from the womb. So my mother would have been my grave, and her womb always great.
18 Por que eu saí do útero para ver trabalho e tristeza, que meus dias deveriam ser consumidos com vergonha?
Why did I come out of the womb to see labor and sorrow, that my days should be consumed with shame?
