Eclesiastes 7
1 Um bom nome é melhor que um perfume fino; e o dia da morte é melhor que o dia do nascimento.
A good name is betere than preciouse oynementis; and the dai of deth is betere than the dai of birthe.
2 É melhor ir à casa do luto do que ir à casa do banquete; pois esse é o fim de todos os homens, e os vivos devem levar isso a sério.
It is betere to go to the hous of morenyng, than to the hous of a feeste; for in that hous `of morenyng the ende of alle men is monestid, and a man lyuynge thenkith, what is to comynge.
3 A dor é melhor que o riso; pois pela tristeza do rosto o coração se recupera.
Yre is betere than leiyyng; for the soule of a trespassour is amendid bi the heuynesse of cheer.
4 O coração dos sábios está na casa do luto; mas o coração dos tolos está na casa da alegria.
The herte of wise men is where sorewe is; and the herte of foolis is where gladnesse is.
5 É melhor ouvir a repreensão dos sábios do que um homem ouvir o canto dos tolos.
It is betere to be repreued of a wijs man, than to be disseyued bi the flateryng of foolis;
6 Pois como o crepitar de espinhos debaixo de um vaso, assim é o riso do tolo. Isto também é vaidade.
for as the sown of thornes brennynge vndur a pot, so is the leiyyng of a fool. But also this is vanyte.
7 Certamente a extorsão torna o sábio tolo; e um suborno destrói o entendimento.
Fals chalenge disturblith a wijs man, and it schal leese the strengthe of his herte.
8 Melhor é o fim de uma coisa do que o seu começo. O paciente em espírito é melhor do que o orgulhoso em espírito.
Forsothe the ende of preyer is betere than the bigynnyng. A pacient man is betere than a proud man.
9 Não se precipite em seu espírito para ficar com raiva, pois a raiva repousa no seio dos tolos.
Be thou not swift to be wrooth; for ire restith in the bosum of a fool.
10 Não diga: “Por que os primeiros dias foram melhores do que estes?” Pois você não pergunte sabiamente sobre isso.
Seie thou not, What gessist thou is of cause, that the formere tymes weren betere than ben now? for whi siche axyng is fonned.
11 A sabedoria é tão boa quanto uma herança. Sim, é mais excelente para aqueles que vêem o sol.
Forsothe wisdom with richessis is more profitable, and profitith more to men seynge the sunne.
12 Pois a sabedoria é uma defesa, assim como o dinheiro é uma defesa; mas a excelência do conhecimento é que a sabedoria preserva a vida de quem a tem.
For as wisdom defendith, so money defendith; but lernyng and wisdom hath this more, that tho yyuen lijf to `her weldere.
13 Considere a obra de Deus, pois quem pode tornar reta aquilo que Ele fez tortuoso?
Biholde thou the werkis of God, that no man may amende hym, whom God hath dispisid.
14 No dia da prosperidade seja alegre, e no dia da adversidade considere; sim, Deus fez um lado a lado com o outro, até o fim de que o homem não deve descobrir nada depois dele.
In a good day vse thou goodis, and bifore eschewe thou an yuel day; for God made so this dai as that dai, that a man fynde not iust playnyngis ayens hym.
15 Tudo isso eu vi em meus dias de vaidade: há um homem justo que perece em sua retidão, e há um homem mau que vive muito tempo em sua maldade.
Also Y siy these thingis in the daies of my natyuyte; a iust man perischith in his riytfulnesse, and a wickid man lyueth myche tyme in his malice.
16 Não seja excessivamente justo, nem se faça excessivamente sábio. Por que você deve destruir a si mesmo?
Nyle thou be iust myche, nether vndurstonde thou more than is nedeful; lest thou be astonyed.
17 Não seja muito malvado, nem seja tolo. Por que você deve morrer antes do seu tempo?
Do thou not wickidli myche, and nyle thou be a fool; lest thou die in a tyme not thin.
18 É bom que você se apodere disso. Sim, também não retire sua mão disso, pois quem teme que Deus saia de todos eles.
It is good, that thou susteyne a iust man; but also withdrawe thou not thin hond from hym; for he that dredith God, is not necligent of ony thing.
19 A sabedoria é uma força para o homem sábio mais de dez governantes que estão em uma cidade.
Wisdom hath coumfortid a wise man, ouer ten pryncis of a citee.
20 Certamente não há um homem justo na terra que faça o bem e não peque.
Forsothe no iust man is in erthe, that doith good, and synneth not.
21 Também não tome cuidado com todas as palavras que são ditas, para não ouvir seu servo te amaldiçoar;
But also yyue thou not thin herte to alle wordis, that ben seid; lest perauenture thou here thi seruaunt cursynge thee;
22 pois muitas vezes seu próprio coração sabe que você mesmo amaldiçoou os outros da mesma forma.
for thi conscience woot, that also thou hast cursid ofte othere men.
23 Tudo isso eu tenho provado com sabedoria. Eu disse: “Eu serei sábio”; mas estava longe de mim.
I asayede alle thingis in wisdom; Y seide, I schal be maad wijs, and it yede awei ferthere fro me, myche more than it was;
24 O que é, está muito longe e excessivamente profundo. Quem pode descobri-lo?
and the depthe is hiy, who schal fynde it?
25 Eu me virei, e meu coração procurou saber e procurar, e buscar sabedoria e o esquema das coisas, e saber que a maldade é estupidez, e que a loucura é loucura.
I cumpasside alle thingis in my soule, to kunne, and biholde, and seke wisdom and resoun, and to knowe the wickidnesse of a fool, and the errour of vnprudent men.
26 Acho mais amarga do que a morte a mulher cujo coração é laços e armadilhas, cujas mãos são correntes. Quem agradar a Deus escapará dela; mas o pecador será ludibriado por ela.
And Y foond a womman bitterere than deth, which is the snare of hunteris, and hir herte is a net, and hir hondis ben boondis; he that plesith God schal ascape hir, but he that is a synnere, schal be takun of hir.
27 “Eis que encontrei isto”, diz o pregador, “um para o outro, para encontrar uma explicação
Lo! Y foond this, seide Ecclesiastes, oon and other, that Y schulde fynde resoun, which my soule sekith yit;
28 que minha alma ainda procura, mas não encontrei”. Encontrei um homem entre mil, mas não encontrei uma mulher entre todos eles”.
and Y foond not. I foond o man of a thousynde; Y foond not a womman of alle.
29 Eis que só encontrei isto: que Deus fez o homem reto; mas eles buscam muitas invenções”.
I foond this oonli, that God made a man riytful; and he medlide hym silf with questiouns with out noumbre. Who is siche as a wijs man? and who knowith the expownyng of a word?
