Deuteronômio 2
1 Depois voltamos, e fizemos nossa viagem para o deserto no caminho para o Mar Vermelho, enquanto Yahweh falava comigo; e rodeamos o Monte Seir por muitos dias.
And we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea, as Jehovah had said unto me; and we went round mount Seir many days.
2 Yahweh falou comigo, dizendo:
And Jehovah spoke to me, saying,
3 “Você já cercou esta montanha por tempo suficiente. Vire-se para o norte.
Ye have gone round this mountain long enough: turn you northward.
4 Comande o povo, dizendo: “Você deve passar pela fronteira de seus irmãos, os filhos de Esaú, que habitam em Seir; e eles terão medo de você”. Portanto, tenha cuidado.
And command the people, saying, Ye are to pass through the border of your brethren the children of Esau, who dwell in Seir; and they will be afraid of you; and ye shall be very guarded:
5 Não contenda com eles; pois não lhe darei nenhuma de suas terras, não, não tanto quanto a sola do pé para pisar, pois dei o Monte Seir a Esaú por uma possessão.
attack them not; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as a foot-breadth; for I have given mount Seir as a possession unto Esau.
6 Você deve comprar comida deles por dinheiro, para que possa comer. Também lhes comprareis água por dinheiro, para que possais beber”.
Ye shall buy of them food for money, that ye may eat; and water shall ye also buy of them for money, that ye may drink;
7 Pois Yahweh teu Deus te abençoou em todo o trabalho de tuas mãos. Ele conheceu seu caminhar por este grande deserto. Nestes quarenta anos, Javé, seu Deus, tem estado com você. Nada lhe faltou.
for Jehovah thy God hath blessed thee in all the work of thy hand. He hath known thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years hath Jehovah thy God been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.
8 Assim passamos de nossos irmãos, os filhos de Esaú, que habitam em Seir, do caminho do Arabah de Elath e de Ezion Geber. Nós nos viramos e passamos pelo caminho do deserto de Moab.
And we passed by from our brethren the children of Esau, who dwelt in Seir, by the plain, by Elath, and by Ezion-geber, and we turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab.
9 Yahweh me disse: “Não incomode Moab, nem contenda com eles em batalha; pois não lhe darei nenhuma de suas terras por posse, porque dei Ar aos filhos de Ló por posse”.
And Jehovah said to me, Distress not the Moabites, neither engage with them in battle; for I will not give thee of their land a possession; for unto the children of Lot have I given Ar as a possession.
10 (Os Emim viveram lá antes, um grande e numeroso povo, e alto como os Anakim.
(The Emim dwelt therein in times past, a people great, and many, and tall as the Anakim.
11 Estes também são considerados como Rephaim, como os Anakim; mas os Moabitas os chamam de Emim.
They also are reckoned as giants like the Anakim; but the Moabites call them Emim.
12 Os Horitas também viveram em Seir no passado, mas os filhos de Esaú os sucederam. Eles os destruíram de antes deles, e viveram em seu lugar, como Israel fez com a terra de sua posse, que Yahweh lhes deu).
And in Seir dwelt the Horites in times past; and the children of Esau dispossessed them, and destroyed them from before them, and dwelt in their stead; as Israel did to the land of their possession, which Jehovah gave to them.)
13 “Agora levante-se e atravesse o riacho Zered”. Passamos por cima do riacho Zered.
Now rise up, and pass over the torrent Zered. And we passed over the torrent Zered.
14 Os dias em que viemos de Kadesh Barnea até o riacho Zered foram trinta e oito anos, até que toda a geração dos homens de guerra foi consumida do meio do campo, como Yahweh jurou a eles.
Now the days in which we came from Kadesh-barnea, until we had come over the torrent Zered, were thirty-eight years; until the whole generation of the men of war was consumed from the midst of the camp, as Jehovah had sworn unto them.
15 Além disso, a mão de Javé estava contra eles, para destruí-los do meio do acampamento, até que fossem consumidos.
Moreover the hand of Jehovah was against them to destroy them from the midst of the camp, until they were consumed.
16 Então, quando todos os homens de guerra foram consumidos e mortos do meio do povo,
And it came to pass when all the men of war were consumed, having died off from among the people,
17 Yahweh falou comigo, dizendo:
that Jehovah spoke to me, saying,
18 “Você deve passar por cima de Ar, a fronteira de Moab, hoje.
Thou art to pass this day over the border of Moab, [which is] Ar,
19 Quando você se aproximar da fronteira dos filhos de Amon, não os incomode, nem contenda com eles; pois eu não lhe darei nenhuma das terras dos filhos de Amon por uma possessão, porque eu a dei aos filhos de Lot por uma possessão”.
and come near over against the children of Ammon; thou shalt not distress them nor attack them; for I will not give thee of the land of the children of Ammon a possession; for unto the children of Lot have I given it as a possession.
20 (Essa também é considerada uma terra de Rephaim. Rephaim viveu lá no passado, mas os amonitas os chamam de Zamzummim,
(That also is reckoned a land of giants: giants dwelt therein in time past, and the Ammonites call them Zamzummim;
21 um grande povo, muitos e alto, como os Anakim; mas Javé os destruiu de antes de Israel, e eles os sucederam, e viveram em seu lugar,
a people great, and many, and tall as the Anakim; and Jehovah destroyed them before them, and they dispossessed them, and dwelt in their stead;
22 como fez com as crianças de Esaú que moram em Seir, quando destruiu os Horitas de antes deles; e eles os sucederam, e viveram em seu lugar até os dias de hoje.
as he did to the children of Esau, who dwelt in Seir, from before whom he destroyed the Horites; and they dispossessed them, and dwelt in their stead, even to this day.
23 Depois os Avvim, que viviam em aldeias até Gaza: os Caphtorim, que saíram de Caphtor, os destruíram e viveram em seu lugar).
And the Avvites who dwelt in the hamlets as far as Gazah — the Caphtorim, who came out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.)
24 “Levante-se, faça sua viagem e passe sobre o vale do Arnon. Eis que eu entreguei em suas mãos Sihon, o Amorreu, rei de Heshbon, e sua terra; comecem a possuí-la, e lutem com ele em batalha.
Rise up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon. Behold, I have given into thy hand Sihon the king of Heshbon, the Amorite, and his land: begin, take possession, and engage with him in battle.
25 Hoje começarei a colocar o pavor de vocês e o medo de vocês sobre os povos que estão debaixo de todo o céu, que ouvirão o relato de vocês, e tremerão e ficarão angustiados por causa de vocês”.
This day will I begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the peoples under the whole heaven; who will hear report of thee, and will tremble, and quake because of thee.
26 Enviei mensageiros do deserto de Kedemoth para Sihon, rei de Heshbon, com palavras de paz, dizendo:
And I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemoth unto Sihon the king of Heshbon with words of peace, saying,
27 “Deixe-me passar por sua terra. Irei pela rodovia. Não vou virar nem para a mão direita nem para a esquerda.
Let me pass through thy land: by the highway alone will I go; I will neither turn to the right hand nor to the left.
28 Vender-me-eis comida por dinheiro, para que eu possa comer; e dai-me água por dinheiro, para que eu possa beber. Deixe-me passar de pé,
Thou shalt sell me food for money that I may eat; and thou shalt give me water for money that I may drink; I will only pass through on my feet,
29 como fizeram comigo os filhos de Esaú que habitam em Seir, e os moabitas que habitam em Ar, até eu passar o Jordão para a terra que Yahweh nosso Deus nos dá”.
— as the children of Esau who dwell in Seir, and the Moabites who dwell in Ar, did to me, — until I shall pass over the Jordan into the land which Jehovah our God giveth us.
30 Mas Sihon, rei de Hesbon, não nos deixou passar por ele, pois Yahweh seu Deus endureceu seu espírito e fez seu coração obstinado, para que ele o entregasse em suas mãos, como é hoje.
But Sihon the king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him; for Jehovah thy God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obdurate, that he might give him into thy hand, as it is this day.
31 Yahweh me disse: “Eis que comecei a entregar Sihon e sua terra diante de vocês. Comece a possuir, para que você possa herdar a terra dele”.
And Jehovah said to me, Behold, I begin to give Sihon and his land before thee: begin, take possession, that thou mayest possess his land.
32 Então Sihon saiu contra nós, ele e todo o seu povo, para lutar em Jahaz.
And Sihon came out against us for battle, he and all his people, to Jahaz.
33 Yahweh nosso Deus o entregou diante de nós; e nós o atingimos, seus filhos, e todo o seu povo.
But Jehovah our God gave him up before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and his whole people.
34 Tomamos todas as suas cidades naquela época, e destruímos completamente todas as cidades habitadas, com as mulheres e os pequenos. Não deixamos ninguém restante.
And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed every city, men, and women, and little ones: we let none escape.
35 Somente o gado que levamos para saquear para nós mesmos, com o saque das cidades que tínhamos tomado.
Only the cattle we took as booty for ourselves, and the spoil of the cities which we took.
36 De Aroer, que fica na beira do vale do Arnon, e da cidade que está no vale, até Gilead, não havia uma cidade muito alta para nós. Yahweh, nosso Deus, entregou tudo antes de nós.
From Aroer, which is on the bank of the river Arnon, and the city that is in the ravine even to Gilead, there was not one city too strong for us: Jehovah our God delivered all before us.
37 Somente à terra das crianças de Ammon você não se aproximou: todas as margens do rio Jabbok, e as cidades da região montanhosa, e onde quer que Yahweh nosso Deus nos proibisse.
Only thou didst not approach the land of the children of Ammon, the whole border of the river Jabbok, nor the cities of the mountain, nor to whatsoever Jehovah our God had forbidden us.
