1 Tessalonicenses 4

1 Finalmente, então, irmãos, imploramos e exortamos no Senhor Jesus, que à medida que recebestes de nós como deveis caminhar e para agradar a Deus, que abundeis cada vez mais.

Finally then, brothers, we beg and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God, that you abound more and more.

2 Pois vocês sabem as instruções que lhes demos através do Senhor Jesus.

For you know what instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus.

3 Pois esta é a vontade de Deus: vossa santificação, que vos abstenhais da imoralidade sexual,

For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality,

4 que cada um de vós saiba controlar seu próprio corpo em santificação e honra,

that each one of you know how to control his own body in sanctification and honour,

5 não na paixão da luxúria, mesmo como os gentios que não conhecem a Deus,

not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who don’t know God,

6 que ninguém deve se aproveitar e enganar um irmão ou irmã neste assunto; porque o Senhor é um vingador em todas estas coisas, como também vos prevenimos e testificamos.

that no one should take advantage of and wrong a brother or sister in this matter; because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as also we forewarned you and testified.

7 Pois Deus nos chamou não para a imundícia, mas para a santificação.

For God called us not for uncleanness, but in sanctification.

8 Portanto, aquele que rejeita isto não rejeita o homem, mas Deus, que também deu seu Espírito Santo a vocês.

Therefore he who rejects this doesn’t reject man, but God, who has also given his Holy Spirit to you.

9 Mas em relação ao amor fraterno, você não precisa que alguém lhe escreva. Para vocês mesmos são ensinados por Deus a amar uns aos outros,

But concerning brotherly love, you have no need that one write to you. For you yourselves are taught by God to love one another,

10 pois de fato o fazem para com todos os irmãos que estão em toda a Macedônia. Mas nós vos exortamos, irmãos, que abundeis cada vez mais;

for indeed you do it towards all the brothers who are in all Macedonia. But we exhort you, brothers, that you abound more and more;

11 e que tenhais a ambição de levar uma vida tranqüila, de fazer vossos próprios negócios e de trabalhar com vossas próprias mãos, mesmo como vos instruímos,

and that you make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, even as we instructed you,

12 para que possais caminhar corretamente em direção àqueles que estão lá fora, e que possam não ter necessidade de nada.

that you may walk properly towards those who are outside, and may have need of nothing.

13 Mas não queremos que vocês sejam ignorantes, irmãos, a respeito daqueles que adormeceram, para que não sofram como os demais, que não têm esperança.

But we don’t want you to be ignorant, brothers, concerning those who have fallen asleep, so that you don’t grieve like the rest, who have no hope.

14 Pois se acreditamos que Jesus morreu e ressuscitou, mesmo assim Deus trará consigo aqueles que adormeceram em Jesus.

For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.

15 Para isto vos dizemos pela palavra do Senhor, que nós que estamos vivos, que ficamos até a vinda do Senhor, não precederemos de modo algum aqueles que adormeceram.

For this we tell you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will in no way precede those who have fallen asleep.

16 Pois o próprio Senhor descerá do céu com um grito, com a voz do arcanjo e com a trombeta de Deus. Os mortos em Cristo ressuscitarão primeiro,

For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with God’s trumpet. The dead in Christ will rise first,

17 depois nós, que estamos vivos, que ficamos, seremos arrebatados junto com eles nas nuvens para encontrar o Senhor no ar. Assim estaremos com o Senhor para sempre.

then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. So we will be with the Lord forever.

18 Portanto, confortem-se uns aos outros com estas palavras.

Therefore comfort one another with these words.
