Provérbios 6
1 Filho meu, se ficaste fiador por teu próximo, [se] deste tua garantia ao estranho;
My son, if you have become collateral for your neighbor, if you have struck your hand in pledge for a stranger;
2 [Se] tu foste capturado pelas palavras de tua [própria] boca, e te prendeste pelas palavras de tua boca,
You are trapped by the words of your mouth. You are ensnared with the words of your mouth.
3 Então faze isto agora, meu filho, e livra-te, pois caíste nas mãos de teu próximo; vai, humilha-te, e insiste exaustivamente ao teu próximo.
Do this now, my son, and deliver yourself, seeing you have come into the hand of your neighbor. Go, humble yourself. Press your plea with your neighbor.
4 Não dês sono aos teus olhos, nem cochilo às tuas pálpebras.
Give no sleep to your eyes, nor slumber to your eyelids.
5 Livra-te, como a corça do caçador, como o pássaro do caçador de aves.
Free yourself, like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, like a bird from the snare of the fowler.
6 Vai até a formiga, preguiçoso; olha para os caminhos dela, e sê sábio.
Go to the ant, you sluggard. Consider her ways, and be wise;
7 Ela, [mesmo] não tendo chefe, nem fiscal, nem dominador,
which having no chief, overseer, or ruler,
8 Prepara seu alimento no verão, na ceifa ajunta seu mantimento.
provides her bread in the summer, and gathers her food in the harvest.
9 Ó preguiçoso, até quando estarás deitado? Quando te levantarás de teu sono?
How long will you sleep, sluggard? When will you arise out of your sleep?
10 Um pouco de sono, um pouco de cochilo; um pouco de descanso com as mãos cruzadas;
A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
11 Assim a pobreza virá sobre ti como um assaltante; a necessidade [chegará] a ti como um homem armado.
so your poverty will come as a robber, and your scarcity as an armed man.
12 O homem mal, o homem injusto, anda com uma boca perversa.
A worthless person, a man of iniquity, is he who walks with a perverse mouth;
13 Ele acena com os olhos, fala com seus pés, aponta com seus dedos.
who winks with his eyes, who signals with his feet, who motions with his fingers;
14 Perversidades há em seu coração; todo o tempo ele trama o mal; anda semeando brigas.
in whose heart is perverseness, who devises evil continually, who always sows discord.
15 Por isso sua perdição virá repentinamente; subitamente ele será quebrado, e não haverá cura.
Therefore his calamity will come suddenly. He will be broken suddenly, and that without remedy.
16 Estas seis coisas o SENHOR odeia; e sete sua alma abomina:
There are six things which the LORD hates; yes, seven which are an abomination to him:
17 Olhos arrogantes, língua mentirosa, e mãos que derramam sangue inocente;
haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood;
18 O coração que trama planos malignos, pés que se apressam a correr para o mal;
a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are swift in running to mischief,
19 A falsa testemunha, que sopra mentiras; e o que semeia brigas entre irmãos.
a false witness who utters lies, and he who sows discord among brothers.
20 Filho meu, guarda o mandamento de teu pai; e não abandones a lei de tua mãe.
My son, keep your father's commandment, and do not forsake your mother's teaching.
21 Amarra-os continuamente em teu coração; e pendura-os ao teu pescoço.
Bind them continually on your heart. Tie them around your neck.
22 Quando caminhares, [isto] te guiará; quando deitares, [isto] te guardará; quando acordares, [isto] falará contigo.
When you walk, it will lead you. When you sleep, it will watch over you. When you awake, it will talk with you.
23 Porque o mandamento é uma lâmpada, e a lei é luz; e as repreensões para correção são o caminho da vida;
For the commandment is a lamp, and the Law is light. Reproofs of instruction are the way of life,
24 Para te protegerem da mulher má, das lisonjas da língua da estranha.
to keep you from the immoral woman, from the flattery of the foreign woman.
25 Não cobices a formosura dela em teu coração; nem te prenda em seus olhos.
Do not lust after her beauty in your heart, neither let her captivate you with her eyelids.
26 Porque pela mulher prostituta [chega-se a pedir] um pedaço de pão; e a mulher de [outro] homem anda à caça de uma alma preciosa.
For a prostitute reduces you to a piece of bread. The adulteress hunts for your precious life.
27 Por acaso pode alguém botar fogo em seu peito, sem que suas roupas se queimem?
Can a man scoop fire into his lap, and his clothes not be burned?
28 [Ou] alguém pode andar sobre as brasas, sem seus pés se arderem?
Or can one walk on hot coals, and his feet not be scorched?
29 Assim [será] aquele que se deitar com a mulher de seu próximo; não será considerado inocente todo aquele que a tocar.
So is he who goes in to his neighbor's wife. Whoever touches her will not be unpunished.
30 Não se despreza ao ladrão, quando furta para saciar sua alma, tendo fome;
Men do not despise a thief, if he steals to satisfy himself when he is hungry:
31 Mas, [se for] achado, ele pagará sete vezes mais; ele terá que dar todos os bens de sua casa.
but if he is found, he must repay seven times. He shall give all the wealth of his house.
32 [Porém] aquele que adultera com mulher [alheia] tem falta de entendimento; quem faz [isso] destrói sua [própria] alma.
He who commits adultery with a woman is void of understanding. He who does it destroys his own soul.
33 Ele encontrará castigo e desgraça; e sua desonra nunca será apagada.
He will get wounds and dishonor. His reproach will not be wiped away.
34 Porque ciúmes [são] a fúria do marido, e ele de maneira nenhuma terá misericórdia no dia da vingança.
For jealousy arouses the fury of the husband. He won't spare in the day of vengeance.
35 Ele não aceitará nenhum pagamento pela culpa; nem consentirá, ainda que aumentes os presentes.
He won't regard any ransom, neither will he rest content, though you give many gifts.
