Mateus 9
1 Então ele entrou no barco, passou para a outra margem, e veio à sua própria cidade.
Afterwards Jesus got into a boat, and, crossing over, came to his own city.
2 E eis que lhe trouxeram um paralítico, deitado em um leito. Quando Jesus viu a fé deles, disse ao paralítico: Tem bom ânimo, filho! Teus pecados são perdoados.
There some people brought to him a paralysed man on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the man, ‘Courage, child! Your sins are forgiven.’
3 E eis que alguns dos escribas disseram entre si: Ele blasfema.
Then some of the teachers of the Law said to themselves, ‘This man is blaspheming!’
4 Mas Jesus, conhecendo seus pensamentos, disse: “Por que pensais o mal em vossos corações?
Knowing their thoughts, Jesus exclaimed, ‘Why do your cherish such wicked thoughts?
5 Pois o que é mais fácil? Dizer: ‘Teus pecados estão perdoados’, ou dizer: ‘Levanta-te, e anda’?
Which, I ask, is the easier? – to say “Your sins are forgiven”? Or to say “Get up, and walk”?
6 Ora, para que saibais que o Filho do homem tem autoridade na terra para perdoar pecados”, (Ele, então, disse ao paralítico): Levanta-te, toma o teu leito, e vai para tua casa.
But to show you that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins’ – then he said to the paralysed man – ‘Get up, take up your bed, and return to your home.’
7 E este se levantou e foi para sua casa.
The man got up and went to his home.
8 Quando as multidões viram [isto], temeram, e glorificaram a Deus, que tinha dado tal autoridade aos homens.
When the crowd saw this, they were awe-struck, and praised God for giving such power to human beings.
9 E Jesus, ao passar dali, viu um homem sentado na coletoria de impostos, chamado Mateus; e disse-lhe: Segue-me. Então este se levantou e o seguiu.
As Jesus went along, he saw a man, called Matthew, sitting in the tax office, and said to him, ‘Follow me.’ Matthew got up and followed him.
10 E aconteceu que, enquanto [Jesus] estava reclinado à mesa na casa [de Mateus], eis que muitos publicanos e pecadores vieram e se reclinaram à mesa juntamente com Jesus e seus discípulos.
And, later on, when he was having dinner in the house, a number of tax collectors and outcasts came in and took their places at the table with Jesus and his disciples.
11 E quando os fariseus viram [isto], perguntaram aos seus discípulos: Por que o vosso Mestre come com publicanos e pecadores?
When the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, ‘Why does your teacher eat in the company of tax collectors and outcasts?’
12 Porém [Jesus] ouviu, e respondeu: Os que têm saúde não precisam de médico, mas sim os que estão doentes.
On hearing this, Jesus said, ‘It is not those who are healthy who need a doctor, but those who are ill.
13 Mas ide aprender o que significa: ‘Quero misericórdia, e não sacrifício’. Porque eu não vim chamar os justos, mas sim, os pecadores.
Go and learn what this means – “I desire mercy, and not sacrifice”; for I did not come to call the religious, but the outcast.’
14 Então os discípulos de João vieram a ele, e perguntaram: Por que nós e os fariseus jejuamos, mas os teus discípulos não jejuam?
Then John’s disciples came to Jesus, and asked, ‘Why do we and the Pharisees fast while your disciples do not?’
15 E Jesus lhes respondeu: Podem, por acaso, os convidados do casamento andar tristes enquanto o noivo está com eles? Mas dias virão, quando o noivo lhes for tirado, e então jejuarão.
Jesus answered, ‘Can the groom’s friends mourn as long as the groom is with them? But the days will come, when the groom will be taken away from them, and they will fast then.
16 E ninguém põe remendo de pano novo em roupa velha; porque tal remendo rasga a roupa, e o rompimento se torna pior.
Nobody ever puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; for such a patch tears away from the garment, and a worse tear is made.
17 Nem põem vinho novo em odres velhos; pois senão os odres se rompem, o vinho se derrama, e os odres se perdem; mas põem o vinho novo em odres novos, e ambos juntamente se conservam.
Nor do people put new wine into old wine-skins; for, if they do, the skins burst, and the wine runs out, and the skins are lost; but they put new wine into fresh skins, and so both are preserved.’
18 Enquanto ele lhes dizia estas coisas, eis que um chefe [de sinagoga] veio prostrar-se diante dele, e disse: Minha filha faleceu ainda agora; mas vem, e põe tua mão sobre ela, e ela viverá.
While Jesus was saying this, a synagogue leader came up and bowed to the ground before him. ‘My daughter,’ he said, ‘has just died; but come and place your hand on her, and she will be restored to life.’
19 Então Jesus se levantou e o seguiu com seus discípulos.
So Jesus rose and followed him, and his disciples went also.
20 (Eis, porém, que uma mulher enferma de um fluxo de sangue havia doze anos veio por detrás [dele], e tocou a borda de sua roupa;
But meanwhile a woman, who had been suffering from haemorrhage for twelve years, came up behind and touched the tassel of his cloak.
21 Porque dizia consigo mesma: Se eu tão-somente tocar a roupa dele, serei curada.
‘If I only touch his cloak,’ she said to herself, ‘I will get well.’
22 Jesus se virou e a viu. Então disse: Tem bom ânimo, filha, a tua fé te sarou. E desde aquela hora a mulher ficou com saúde.)
Turning and seeing her, Jesus said, ‘Courage, daughter! Your faith has delivered you.’ And at that very moment she became well.
23 Quando Jesus chegou à casa daquele chefe, viu os tocadores de flauta e a multidão que fazia alvoroço,
When Jesus reached the leader’s house, seeing the flute players, and a number of people all in confusion,
24 E disse: Retirai-vos, porque a menina não está morta, mas sim dormindo. E riram dele.
he said, ‘Go away, the little girl is not dead; she is asleep.’ They began to laugh at him;
25 Mas quando a multidão foi expulsa, ele entrou, pegou a mão dela, e a menina se levantou.
but, when the people had been sent out, Jesus went in, and took the little girl’s hand, and she rose.
26 E esta notícia se espalhou por toda aquela terra.
The report of this spread through all that part of the country.
27 E saindo Jesus dali, dois cegos o seguiram, gritando: Tem compaixão de nós, Filho de Davi!
As Jesus was passing on from there, he was followed by two blind men, who kept calling out, ‘Take pity on us, Son of David!’
28 E quando ele entrou em casa, os cegos vieram a ele. Jesus lhes perguntou: Credes que posso fazer isto? Eles lhe responderam: Sim, Senhor.
When he had gone indoors, the blind men came up to him; and Jesus asked them, ‘Do you believe that I am able to do this?’ ‘Yes, Master!’ they answered.
29 Então tocou os olhos deles, dizendo: Seja feito convosco conforme a vossa fé.
Then he touched their eyes, and said, ‘It will be according to your faith.’
30 E os olhos deles se abriram. Então Jesus os advertiu severamente, dizendo: Tende o cuidado de que ninguém saiba disso.
Then their eyes were opened. Jesus sternly cautioned them. ‘See that no one knows of it,’ he said.
31 Porém eles saíram e divulgaram a notícia acerca dele por toda aquela terra.
But the men went out, and spread the news about him through all that part of the country.
32 Enquanto eles saíam, eis que lhe trouxeram um mudo e endemoninhado.
Just as they were going out, some people brought up to Jesus a dumb man who was possessed by a demon;
33 Quando o demônio foi expulso, o mudo passou a falar. Então as multidões ficaram maravilhadas, e disseram: Nunca se viu algo assim em Israel!
and, as soon as the demon had been driven out, the dumb man spoke. The people were astonished at this, and exclaimed, ‘Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel!’
34 Mas os fariseus diziam: É pelo chefe dos demônios que ele expulsa os demônios.
But the Pharisees said, ‘He drives out the demons by the help of the chief of the demons.’
35 Jesus percorria todas as cidades e aldeias, ensinando em suas sinagogas, pregando o Evangelho do Reino, e curando toda enfermidade e toda doença.
Jesus went round all the towns and the villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and curing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness.
36 Quando ele viu as multidões, teve compaixão delas, porque andavam afligidas e desamparadas, como ovelhas que não têm pastor.
But, when he saw the crowds, his heart was moved with compassion for them, because they were distressed and harassed, like sheep without a shepherd;
37 Então disse aos seus discípulos: Em verdade a colheita é grande, porém os trabalhadores são poucos.
and he said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is abundant, but the labourers are few.
38 Portanto rogai ao Senhor da colheita que envie trabalhadores à sua colheita.
Therefore pray to the owner of the harvest to send labourers to gather in his harvest.’
