Josué 24

1 E juntando Josué todas as tribos de Israel em Siquém, chamou aos anciãos de Israel, e a seus príncipes, a seus juízes, e a seus oficiais; e apresentaram-se diante de Deus.

And Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem, and called for the elders of Israel, and for their heads, and for their judges, and for their officers; and they presented themselves before God.

2 E disse Josué a todo o povo: Assim diz o SENHOR, Deus de Israel: Vossos pais habitaram antigamente da outra parte do rio, a saber, Terá, pai de Abraão e de Naor; e serviam a deuses estranhos.

And Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt of old time beyond the River, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nahor: and they served other gods.

3 E eu tomei a vosso pai Abraão da outra parte do rio, e trouxe-o por toda a terra de Canaã, e aumentei sua geração, e dei-lhe a Isaque.

And I took your father Abraham from beyond the River, and led him throughout all the land of Canaan, and multiplied his seed, and gave him Isaac.

4 E a Isaque dei a Jacó e a Esaú: e a Esaú dei o monte de Seir, que o possuísse: mas Jacó e seus filhos desceram ao Egito.

And I gave unto Isaac Jacob and Esau: and I gave unto Esau mount Seir, to possess it; and Jacob and his children went down into Egypt.

5 E eu enviei a Moisés e a Arão, e feri ao Egito, ao modo que o fiz em meio dele, e depois vos tirei.

And I sent Moses and Aaron, and I plagued Egypt, according to that which I did in the midst thereof: and afterward I brought you out.

6 E tirei a vossos pais do Egito: e quando chegaram ao mar, os egípcios seguiram a vossos pais até o mar Vermelho com carros e cavalaria.

And I brought your fathers out of Egypt: and ye came unto the sea; and the Egyptians pursued after your fathers with chariots and with horsemen unto the Red Sea.

7 E quando eles clamaram ao SENHOR, ele pôs escuridão entre vós e os egípcios, e fez vir sobre eles o mar, a qual os cobriu: e vossos olhos viram o que fiz em Egito. Depois estivestes muitos dias no deserto.

And when they cried out unto the LORD, he put darkness between you and the Egyptians, and brought the sea upon them, and covered them; and your eyes saw what I did in Egypt: and ye dwelt in the wilderness many days.

8 E vos introduzi na terra dos amorreus, que habitavam da outra parte do Jordão, os quais lutaram contra vós; mas eu os entreguei em vossas mãos, e possuístes sua terra, e os destruí de diante de vós.

And I brought you into the land of the Amorites, which dwelt beyond Jordan; and they fought with you: and I gave them into your hand, and ye possessed their land; and I destroyed them from before you.

9 E levantou-se depois Balaque filho de Zipor, rei dos moabitas, e lutou contra Israel; e mandou chamar a Balaão filho de Beor, para que vos amaldiçoasse.

Then Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, arose and fought against Israel; and he sent and called Balaam the son of Beor to curse you:

10 Mas eu não quis escutar a Balaão, antes vos abençoou repetidamente, e vos livre de suas mãos.

but I would not hearken unto Balaam; therefore he blessed you still: so I delivered you out of his hand.

11 E passado o Jordão, viestes a Jericó; e os moradores de Jericó lutaram contra vós: os amorreus, perizeus, cananeus, heteus, girgaseus, heveus, e jebuseus: e eu os entreguei em vossas mãos.

And ye went over Jordan, and came unto Jericho: and the men of Jericho fought against you, the Amorite, and the Perizzite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Girgashite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite; and I delivered them into your hand.

12 E enviei vespas diante de vós, os quais os expulsaram de diante de vós, a saber, aos dois reis dos amorreus; não com tua espada, nem com teu arco.

And I sent the hornet before you, which drave them out from before you, even the two kings of the Amorites; not with thy sword, nor with thy bow.

13 E vos dei a terra pela qual nada trabalhastes, e as cidades que não edificastes, nas quais morais; e das vinhas e olivais que não plantastes, comeis.

And I gave you a land whereon thou hadst not laboured, and cities which ye built not, and ye dwell therein; of vineyards and oliveyards which ye planted not do ye eat.

14 Agora, pois, temei ao SENHOR, e servi-o com integridade e em verdade; e tirai do meio os deuses aos quais serviram vossos pais da outra parte do rio, e em Egito; e servi ao SENHOR.

Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served beyond the River, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD.

15 E se mal vos parece servir ao SENHOR, escolhei hoje a quem sirvais; se aos deuses a os quais serviram vossos pais, quando estiveram da outra parte do rio, ou aos deuses dos amorreus em cuja terra habitais: que eu e minha casa serviremos ao SENHOR.

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

16 Então o povo respondeu, e disse: Nunca tal aconteça que deixemos ao SENHOR para servir a outros deuses:

And the people answered and said, God forbid that we should forsake the LORD, to serve other gods;

17 Porque o SENHOR nosso Deus é o que tirou a nós e a nossos pais da terra do Egito, da casa de escravidão; o qual diante de nossos olhos fez estas grandes sinais, e nos guardou por todo o caminho por onde andamos, e em todos os povos por entre os quais passamos.

for the LORD our God, he it is that brought us and our fathers up out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and that did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way wherein we went, and among all the peoples through the midst of whom we passed:

18 E o SENHOR expulsou de diante de nós a todos os povos, e aos amorreus que habitavam na terra: nós, pois, também serviremos ao SENHOR, porque ele é nosso Deus.

and the LORD drave out from before us all the peoples, even the Amorites which dwelt in the land: therefore we also will serve the LORD; for he is our God.

19 Então Josué disse ao povo: Não podereis servir ao SENHOR, porque ele é Deus santo, e Deus zeloso; não tolerará vossas rebeliões e vossos pecados.

And Joshua said unto the people, Ye cannot serve the LORD; for he is an holy God; he is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgression nor your sins.

20 Se deixardes ao SENHOR e servirdes a deuses alheios, se voltará, e vos maltratará, e vos consumirá, depois que vos fez bem.

If ye forsake the LORD, and serve strange gods, then he will turn and do you evil, and consume you, after that he hath done you good.

21 O povo então disse a Josué: Não, antes ao SENHOR serviremos.

And the people said unto Joshua, Nay; but we will serve the LORD.

22 E Josué respondeu ao povo: Vós sois testemunhas contra vós mesmos, de que escolhestes para vós ao SENHOR para servir-lhe. E eles responderam: Testemunhas somos.

And Joshua said unto the people, Ye are witnesses against yourselves that ye have chosen you the LORD, to serve him. And they said, We are witnesses.

23 Tirai, pois, agora os deuses alheios que estão entre vós, e inclinai vosso coração ao SENHOR Deus de Israel.

Now therefore put away, [said he], the strange gods which are among you, and incline your heart unto the LORD, the God of Israel.

24 E o povo respondeu a Josué: Ao SENHOR nosso Deus serviremos, e à sua voz obedeceremos.

And the people said unto Joshua, The LORD our God will we serve, and unto his voice will we hearken.

25 Então Josué fez aliança com o povo o mesmo dia, e pôs-lhe ordenanças e leis em Siquém.

So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day, and set them a statute and an ordinance in Shechem.

26 E escreveu Josué estas palavras no livro da lei de Deus; e tomando uma grande pedra, levantou-a ali debaixo de um carvalho que estava junto ao santuário do SENHOR.

And Joshua wrote these words in the book of the law of God; and he took a great stone, and set it up there under the oak that was by the sanctuary of the LORD.

27 E disse Josué a todo o povo: Eis que esta pedra será entre nós por testemunha, a qual ouviu todas as palavras do SENHOR que ele falou conosco: será, pois, testemunha contra vós, para que não mintais contra vosso Deus.

And Joshua said unto all the people, Behold, this stone shall be a witness against us; for it hath heard all the words of the LORD which he spake unto us: it shall be therefore a witness against you, lest ye deny your God.

28 E enviou Josué ao povo, cada um à sua herança.

So Joshua sent the people away, every man unto his inheritance.

29 E depois destas coisas morreu Josué, filho de Num, servo do SENHOR sendo de cento e dez anos.

And it came to pass after these things, that Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died, being an hundred and ten years old.

30 E enterraram-no no termo de sua possessão em Timnate-Sera, que está no monte de Efraim, ao norte do monte de Gaás.

And they buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnath-serah, which is in the hill country of Ephraim, on the north of the mountain of Gaash.

31 E serviu Israel ao SENHOR todo o tempo de Josué, e todo o tempo dos anciãos que viveram depois de Josué, e que sabiam todas as obras do SENHOR, que havia feito por Israel.

And Israel served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that outlived Joshua, and had known all the work of the LORD, that he had wrought for Israel.

32 E enterraram em Siquém os ossos de José que os filhos de Israel haviam trazido do Egito, na parte do campo que Jacó comprou dos filhos de Hamor, pai de Siquém, por cem peças de prata; e foi em possessão aos filhos de José.

And the bones of Joseph, which the children of Israel brought up out of Egypt, buried they in Shechem, in the parcel of ground which Jacob bought of the sons of Hamor the father of Shechem for an hundred pieces of money: and they became the inheritance of the children of Joseph.

33 Também morreu Eleazar, filho de Arão; ao qual enterraram no morro de Fineias seu filho, que lhe foi dado no monte de Efraim.

And Eleazar the son of Aaron died; and they buried him in the hill of Phinehas his son, which was given him in the hill country of Ephraim.
