1 Coríntios 9
1 Não sou eu apóstolo? Não sou livre? Não vi eu a Jesus Cristo nosso Senhor? Não sois vós minha obra no Senhor?
Am I not free? Am I not an apostle? Have I not seen our Lord Jesus? Aren’t you yourselves my work achieved in union with the Lord?
2 Se para os outros não sou apóstolo, ao menos para vós eu o sou; porque vós sois o selo de meu apostolado no Senhor.
If I am not an apostle to others, yet at least I am to you; for you are the seal that stamps me as an apostle in union with the Lord.
3 Esta é a minha defesa para com os que me condenam.
The defence that I make to my critics is this:
4 Não temos nós poder de comer e de beber?
Haven’t we a right to food and drink?
5 Não temos nós direito de trazer [conosco] uma mulher irmã, como também os demais apóstolos, e os irmãos do Senhor, e Cefas?
Haven’t we a right to take a wife with us, if she is a Christian, as the other apostles and the Master’s brothers and Cephas all do?
6 Ou só eu, e Barnabé, não temos direito de não trabalhar?
Or is it only Barnabas and I who have no right to give up working for our bread?
7 Quem vai para a guerra a seu próprio custo? Quem planta a vinha, e não come do seu fruto? Ou quem apascenta o gado, e não come do leite do gado?
Does anyone ever serve as a soldier at his own expense? Does anyone plant a vineyard and not eat its produce? Or does anyone look after a herd and not drink the milk?
8 Digo eu isto segundo a lógica humana? Ou não diz a Lei também o mesmo?
Am I, in all this, speaking only from the human standpoint? Does not the Law also say the same?
9 Porque na Lei de Moisés está escrito: ao boi que trilha não atarás a boca. Por acaso Deus tem preocupação com os bois?
For in the Law of Moses it is said – “You should not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain.” Is it the bullocks that God is thinking of?
10 Ou totalmente diz por nós? Porque por nós isto está escrito; porque o que lavra, com esperança deve lavrar; e o que trilha com esperança, de sua esperança [deve] ser participante.
Or is not is said entirely for our sakes? Surely it was written for our sakes, for the ploughman ought not to plough, nor the thrasher to thrash, without expecting a share of the grain.
11 Se nós vos semeamos as coisas espirituais, é muito que ceifemos as vossas [coisas] carnais?
Since we, then, sowed spiritual seed for you, is it too much that we should reap from you an earthly harvest?
12 Se outros são participantes deste poder sobre vós, [porque] não tanto mais nós? Mas nós não usamos deste poder; antes tudo suportamos, para não darmos impedimento algum ao Evangelho de Cristo.
If others share in this right over you, don’t we even more? Still we did not avail ourselves of this right. No, we endure anything rather than impede the progress of the good news of the Christ.
13 Não sabeis vós, que os que administram as coisas sagradas, comem [daquilo que é] sagrado? E os que continuamente estão junto ao altar, com o altar participam?
Don’t you know that those who do the work of the Temple live on what comes from the Temple, and that those who serve at the altar share the offerings with the altar?
14 Assim também ordenou o Senhor, aos que anunciam o Evangelho, que vivam do Evangelho.
So, too, the Master has appointed that those who tell the good news should get their living from the good news.
15 Porém eu de nenhuma destas coisas usei; e nem isto escrevi, para que assim se faça comigo; porque melhor me seria morrer, do que esvaecer este meu orgulho.
I, however, have not availed myself of any of these rights. I am not saying this to secure such an arrangement for myself; indeed, I would far rather die – Nobody will make my boast a vain one!
16 Porque se anunciar o Evangelho, para mim não é orgulho, pois a obrigação me é imposta. E ai de mim, se não anunciar o Evangelho!
If I proclaim the good news, I have nothing to boast of, for I am compelled to do so. Woe is me if I do not share it!
17 Porque se eu faço de boa mente, tenho recompensa; mas se eu fizer de má vontade, a responsabilidade me é confiada.
If I do this work willingly, I have a reward; but, if unwillingly, I have been charged to perform a duty.
18 Então que recompensa tenho? Que evangelizando, proponha o Evangelho de Cristo sem receber nada de volta, para não abusar do meu poder no Evangelho.
What is my reward, then? To present the good news free of all cost, and so make but a sparing use of the rights which it gives me.
19 Porque, estando eu livre de todos, me fiz servo de todos, para ganhar [ainda] mais.
Although I was entirely free, yet, to win as many converts as possible, I made myself everyone’s slave.
20 E me fiz como judeu para os judeus, para ganhar aos judeus; como que estivesse debaixo da Lei, ainda que eu mesmo não esteja debaixo da Lei para os que estão debaixo da Lei, para ganhar aos que estão debaixo da Lei.
To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win Jews. To those who are subject to Law I became like a man subject to Law – though I was not myself subject to Law – to win those who are subject to Law.
21 Ao que estão sem Lei, como se estivesse sem Lei ( [porém] não estando sem Lei para com Deus; mas para com Cristo debaixo da Lei), para ganhar os que estão sem Lei.
To those who have no Law I became like a man who has no Law – not that I am free from God’s Law; no, for I am under Christ’s Law – to win those who have no law.
22 Me fiz de fraco para os fracos, para ganhar aos fracos; tudo me fiz para todos, para por todos os meios vir a salvar a alguns.
To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people, so as at all costs to save some.
23 E isto eu faço por causa do Evangelho, para que eu também dele seja participante.
And I do everything for the sake of the good news, so that with them I may share in its blessings.
24 Não sabeis vós que os que correm nas competições, realmente todos correm, mas somente um leva o prêmio? Correi de tal maneira, que o alcanceis.
Don’t you know that on a racecourse, though all run, yet only one wins the prize? Run in such a way that you may win.
25 E todo aquele que luta, tenha domínio próprio sobre tudo. Pois aqueles fazem para receber uma coroa perecível, porém nós [para] uma que não perece.
Every athlete exercises self-restraint in everything; they, indeed, for a crown that fades, we for one that is unfading.
26 Então assim eu corro, não como [para um lugar] incerto; assim luto, não como que dando socos no ar.
I, therefore, do not run aimlessly. I do not box like a man hitting the air.
27 Em vez disso, eu subjugo meu corpo, e o reduzo à servidão, para que quando estiver pregando para os outros, eu mesmo não seja reprovado.
No, I bruise my body and make it my slave, so that I, who have called others to the contest, will not myself be rejected.
