Zacarias 8
1 Depois veio a mim a palavra do Senhor dos exércitos, dizendo:
Now this message of the Lord of hosts came to me:
2 Assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos: Zelei por Sião com grande zelo, e com grande furor zelei por ela.
The Lord of hosts says: I passionately care for Zion, and I am fiercely protective of her.
3 Assim diz o Senhor: Voltarei para Sião, e habitarei no meio de Jerusalém; e Jerusalém chamar-se-á a cidade de verdade, e o monte do Senhor dos exércitos monte de santidade.
The Lord says, I have returned to Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem and Jerusalem will be called, “The City of Truth” and the mountain of the Lord of hosts, “The Holy Mountain.”
4 Assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos: Ainda nas praças de Jerusalém habitarão velhos e velhas; e cada um terá na sua mão o seu bordão, por causa da sua muita idade.
The Lord of hosts says: Old men and old women will sit again in the squares of Jerusalem, each leaning on a staff because of old age.
5 E as ruas da cidade serão cheias de meninos e meninas, que brincarão nas ruas dela.
And the streets of the city will be full of boys, and of girls playing in its squares.
6 Assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos: Se isto será maravilhoso aos olhos do resto deste povo naqueles dias, se-lo-á por isso também maravilhoso aos meus olhos? disse o Senhor dos exércitos.
The Lord of hosts says: Just because it seems impossible to the remnant of this people in these days, is it also impossible for me? says the Lord of hosts.
7 Assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos: Eis que salvarei o meu povo da terra do oriente e da terra do pôr do sol;
The Lord of hosts says: I will rescue my people from the land of the east and the land of the west.
8 E tra-los-ei, e habitarão no meio de Jerusalém; e me serão por povo, e eu lhes serei a eles por Deus em verdade e em justiça.
I will bring them and they will live in Jerusalem, and they will be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and righteousness.
9 Assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos: Esforcem-se as vossas mãos, ó vós que nestes dias ouvistes estas palavras da boca dos profetas que estiveram no dia em que foi posto o fundamento da casa do Senhor dos exércitos, para que o templo fosse edificado.
The Lord of hosts says: Let your hands be strong, you who hear in these days the words of the prophets spoken when the foundations for the house of the Lord of hosts were laid.
10 Porque antes destes dias não tem havido soldada de homens, nem soldada de bestas; nem havia paz para o que entrava nem para o que saía, por causa do inimigo, porque eu incitei a todos os homens, cada um contra o seu companheiro.
For before those days there were no wages for people or animals. No one could go out or return safe from enemies, because I set each against their neighbour.
11 Mas agora não me haverei eu para com o resto deste povo como nos primeiros dias, diz o Senhor dos exércitos.
But now I will treat the remnant of the people differently from former days, says the Lord of hosts.
12 Porque a semente será prospera, a vide dará o seu fruto, e a terra dará a sua novidade, e os céus darão o seu orvalho; e farei que o resto deste povo herde tudo isto
Peace will be sown. The vine will bear its fruit and the ground will yield its produce, and the skies will give their dew. I will give the remnant of this people all these things.
13 E há de ser, ó casa de Judá, e ó casa de Israel, que, assim como fostes uma maldição entre as nações, assim vos salvarei, e sereis uma benção: não temais, esforcem-se as vossas mãos.
Just as you were accursed among the nations, house of Judah and house of Israel, so I will save you and you will be a blessing. Do not be afraid, but let your hands be strong.
14 Porque assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos: Assim como pensei fazer-vos mal, quando vossos pais me provocaram à ira, diz o Senhor dos exércitos, e não me arrependi,
For the Lord of hosts says: As I planned to do evil to you when your ancestors provoked me to anger, says the Lord of hosts, and I did not relent,
15 Assim tornei a pensar de fazer bem a Jerusalém e à casa de Judá, nestes dias: não temais.
so again have I planned in these days to do good to Jerusalem and to the house of Judah. Do not be afraid.
16 Estas são as coisas que fareis: falai verdade cada um com o seu companheiro; julgai verdade e juízo de paz nas vossas portas.
These are the things that you should do: Speak the truth to each other. Render peaceful decisions in your gates.
17 E nenhum de vós pense mal no seu coração contra o seu companheiro, nem ameis o juramento falso; porque todas estas coisas são as que eu aborreço, diz o Senhor.
Let none of you devise evil in your heart against one another. Do not love perjury. All these are things I hate, says the Lord.
18 E a palavra do Senhor dos exércitos veio a mim, dizendo:
And this message of the Lord of hosts came to me:
19 Assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos: O jejum do quarto, e o jejum do quinto, e o jejum do sétimo, e o jejum do décimo mês se tornará para a casa de Judá em gozo, e em alegria, e em festividades solenes: amai pois a verdade e a paz.
The Lord of hosts says: The fast of the fourth month, and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth, will be festivals of joy and gladness, and cheerful feasts for the house of Judah. Therefore love truth and peace.
20 Assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos: Ainda sucederá que virão os povos e os habitantes de muitas cidades.
The Lord of hosts says: Peoples, and the inhabitants of many cities will come,
21 E os habitantes de uma irão à outra, dizendo: Vamos andando para suplicar a face do Senhor, e para buscar ao Senhor dos exércitos; eu também irei.
and the inhabitants of one city will go to another, saying, ‘Let us go speedily to entreat the favour of the Lord, and to seek the Lord of hosts; I will go also.’
22 Assim virão muitos povos e poderosas nações, a buscar em Jerusalém ao Senhor dos exércitos, e a suplicar a face do Senhor.
Many peoples and strong nations will come to seek the Lord of hosts in Jerusalem, and to entreat the favour of the Lord.
23 Assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos: naquele dia sucederá que pegarão dez homens de entre todas as línguas das nações, pegarão, digo, da aba de um homem judaico, dizendo: Iremos convosco, porque temos ouvido que Deus está convosco.
The Lord of hosts says: In those days ten people from all languages and nations will take hold of the robe of a Jew, saying, ‘We will go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.’
