Salmos 37
1 Não te indignes por causa dos malfeitores, nem tenhas inveja dos que obram a iniquidade.
Of David. Be not kindled to wrath at the wicked, nor envious of those who work wrong;
2 Porque cedo serão ceifados como a erva, e murcharão como a verdura.
for, like grass, they will speedily wither, and fade like the green of young grass.
3 Confia no Senhor e faze o bem; habitarás na terra, e verdadeiramente serás alimentado.
Trust in the Lord, and do good; remain in the land, and deal faithfully:
4 Deleita-te também no Senhor, e te concederá os desejos do teu coração.
then the Lord will be your delight, he will grant you your heart’s petitions.
5 Entrega o teu caminho ao Senhor; confia nele, e ele o fará.
Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act,
6 E ele fará sobresair a tua justiça como a luz, e o teu juízo como o meio dia.
making clear as the light your right, and your just cause clear as the noon-day.
7 Descança no Senhor, e espera nele; não te indignes por causa daquele que prospera em seu caminho, por causa do homem que executa astutos intentos.
In silence and patience wait on the Lord. Be not kindled to anger at those who prosper. At those who execute evil devices.
8 Deixa a ira, e abandona o furor: não te indignes para fazer somente o mal.
Desist from anger, abandon wrath: be not kindled to anger it leads but to evil:
9 Porque os malfeitores serão desarreigados; mas aqueles que esperam no Senhor herdarão a terra.
for evildoers will be cut off, but the land will be theirs, who wait on the Lord.
10 Pois ainda um pouco, e o ímpio não existirá; olharás para o seu lugar, e não aparecerá.
Yet but a little, and the wicked vanish: look at their place: they are there no more.
11 Mas os mansos herdarão a terra, e se deleitarão na abundância de paz.
But the humble will have the land, and the rapture of peace in abundance.
12 O ímpio maquina contra o justo, e contra ele range os dentes.
The wicked plots against the righteous, snarls like a wild animal;
13 O Senhor se rirá dele, pois vê que vem chegando o seu dia.
the Lord laughs, for he sees that his day is coming.
14 Os ímpios puxaram da espada e entesaram o arco, para derribarem o pobre e necessitado, e para matarem os de reta conversação.
The wicked have drawn the sword, and bent the bow, to fell the poor, to slay those who walk uprightly;
15 Porém a sua espada lhes entrará no coração, e os seus arcos se quebrarão.
but their sword will pierce their own heart, and their bows will be broken in pieces.
16 Vale mais o pouco que tem o justo, do que as riquezas de muitos ímpios.
Better is the righteous person’s little than the wealth of many wicked.
17 Pois os braços dos ímpios se quebrarão, mas o Senhor sustem os justos.
For the arms of the wicked will be broken, but the Lord upholds the righteous.
18 O Senhor conhece os dias dos retos, e a sua herança permanecerá para sempre.
The Lord watches over the days of the blameless, their heritage will continue forever.
19 Não serão envergonhados nos dias maus, e nos dias de fome se fartarão.
They will not be shamed in the evil time, in the days of famine they will be satisfied.
20 Mas os ímpios perecerão, e os inimigos do Senhor serão como a gordura dos cordeiros; desaparecerão, e em fumo se desfarão.
Because the wicked will perish: but the foes of the Lord, like a brand in the oven, will vanish, like smoke they will vanish.
21 O ímpio toma emprestado, e não paga; mas o justo se compadece, e dá.
The wicked must borrow and cannot pay back, but the righteous is lavish and gives.
22 Porque aqueles que ele abençoa herdarão a terra, e aqueles que forem por ele amaldiçoados serão desarreigados.
For those blest by the Lord inherit the land, while those whom he curses will be cut off.
23 Os passos de um homem bom são confirmados pelo Senhor, e deleita-se no seu caminho.
The Lord supports the steps of those with whom he is pleased.
24 Ainda que caia, não ficará prostrado, pois o Senhor o sustem com a sua mão.
Though they fall, they will not be cast headlong, for the Lord holds their hands.
25 Fui moço, e agora sou velho; mas nunca vi desamparado o justo, nem a sua semente a mendigar o pão.
Never, from youth to age, have I seen the righteous forsaken, or their children begging bread.
26 Compadece-se sempre, e empresta, e a sua semente é abençoada.
They are ever lavishly lending, and their children are fountains of blessing.
27 Aparta-te do mal e faze o bem; e habita para sempre.
Turn away from evil and do good and you will live in the land forever.
28 Porque o Senhor ama o juízo e não desampara os seus santos; eles são preservados para sempre; mas a semente dos ímpios será desarreigada.
For the Lord loves justice, he does not forsake his friends. The unrighteous will be destroyed forever, and the seed of the wicked will be cut off.
29 Os justos herdarão a terra e habitarão nela para sempre.
But the land will belong to the righteous, they will live upon it forever,
30 A boca do justo fala a sabedoria: a sua língua fala do juízo.
The mouth of the righteous murmurs wisdom, and words of justice are on their tongues.
31 A lei do seu Deus está em seu coração; os seus passos não resvalarão.
The law of their God is in their heart, their steps are never unsteady.
32 O ímpio espreita ao justo, e procura mata-lo.
The wicked watches the righteous, and seeks to put them to death.
33 O Senhor não o deixará em suas mãos, nem o condenará quando for julgado.
But the Lord leaves them not in their hand: at their trial they will not be held guilty.
34 Espera no Senhor, e guarda o seu caminho, e te exaltará para herdares a terra: tu o verás quando os ímpios forem desarreigados.
Wait on the Lord, and observe his way: he will lift you to honour the land will be yours, you will feast your eyes on the doom of the wicked.
35 Vi o ímpio com grande poder espalhar-se como a árvore verde na terra natal.
I have seen the wicked exultant, lifting themselves like a cedar of Lebanon.
36 Mas passou e já não aparece: procurei-o, mas não se pôde encontrar.
But the moment I passed, they vanished! I sought for them, but they could not be found.
37 Nota o homem sincero, e considera o reto, porque o fim desse homem é a paz.
Preserve your honour and practise uprightness, for such a person fares well in the end.
38 Enquanto aos transgressores serão à uma destruídos, e as relíquias dos ímpios serão destruídas.
But transgressors will perish together. Cut off are the wicked forever.
39 Mas a salvação dos justos vem do Senhor; ele é a sua fortaleza no tempo da angústia.
The righteous are saved by the Lord, who in time of distress is their refuge:
40 E o Senhor os ajudará e os livrará; ele os livrará dos ímpios e os salvará, porquanto confiam nele.
the Lord helps and rescue them, from the wicked he rescues and saves them, because they take refuge in him.
