Salmos 104
1 Bendize, ó alma minha, ao Senhor: Senhor Deus meu, tu és magnificentíssimo, estás vestido de glória e de magestade.
Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, you are very great, clad in awful splendour,
2 Ele se cobre de luz como de um vestido, estende os céus como uma cortina.
covered with robe of light. You stretch out the heavens like the cloth of a tent.
3 Põe nas águas as vigas das suas câmaras; faz das nuvens o seu carro, anda sobre as asas do vento.
He lays the beams of his chambers on water. He takes dark clouds for his chariot, and rides on the wings of the wind.
4 Faz dos seus anjos espíritos, dos seus ministros um fogo abrazador.
He takes the winds for his messengers, the fire and the flame for his servants.
5 Lançou os fundamentos da terra, para que não vacile em tempo algum.
He founded the earth upon pillars, to sustain it unshaken forever.
6 Tu a cobres com o abismo, como com um vestido: as águas estavam sobre os montes.
With the garment of ocean he covered it, waters towered over the mountains.
7 Á tua repreensão fugiram: à voz do teu trovão se apressaram.
But at your rebuke they fled, scared by the roar of your thunder,
8 Sobem aos montes, descem aos vales, até ao lugar que para elas fundaste.
mountains rose, valleys sank down to the place appointed for them.
9 Termo lhes puseste, que não ultrapassarão, para que não tornem mais a cobrir a terra.
They dared not pass the bounds set for them, or cover the earth any more.
10 Tu, que fazes sair as fontes nos vales, as quais correm entre os montes.
He sent brooks into the valleys, they meander between the mountains.
11 Dão de beber a todo o animal do campo; os jumentos montezes matam a sua sede.
The wild beasts all drink from them, and the wild asses quench their thirst.
12 Junto delas as aves do céu terão a sua habitação, cantando entre os ramos.
The birds have their home by the banks, and sing in the branches.
13 Ele rega os montes desde as suas câmaras: a terra se farta do fruto das suas obras.
From his chambers above he gives drink to the mountains, and satisfies earth with the vials of heaven.
14 Faz crescer a erva para as bestas, e a verdura para o serviço do homem, para fazer sair da terra o pão,
He makes grass grow for the cattle, and herbs for people. He brings bread out of the earth;
15 E o vinho que alegra o coração do homem, e o azeite que faz reluzir o seu rosto, e o pão que fortalece o coração do homem.
wine, to gladden hearts; oil, to make faces shine; bread, to strengthen hearts.
16 As árvores do Senhor fartam-se de seiva, os cedros do líbano que ele plantou,
The trees of the Lord drink their fill the cedars he planted on Lebanon,
17 Onde as aves se aninham: enquanto à cegonha, a sua casa é nas faias.
where the little birds build their nest, and the stork whose home is the cypress.
18 Os altos montes são um refúgio para as cabras montezes, e as rochas para os coelhos.
The high hills are for the wild goats, and the rocks are for coneys to hide in.
19 Designou a lua para as estações: o sol conhece o seu ocaso.
He created the moon to mark seasons, and told the sun when to set.
20 Ordenas a escuridão, e faz-se noite, na qual saem todos os animais da selva.
You make it dark: night comes, when all the wild beasts creep out.
21 Os leãozinhos bramam pela preza, e de Deus buscam o seu sustento.
Young lions that roar for their prey, seeking their meat from God.
22 Nasce o sol e logo se acolhem, e se deitam nos seus covis.
At sunrise they slink away, and lie down in their dens.
23 Então sai o homem à sua obra e ao seu trabalho, até à tarde.
Then people go forth to their work, and toil till evening.
24 Ó Senhor, quão variadas são as tuas obras! todas as coisas fizeste com sabedoria; cheia está a terra das tuas riquezas.
How many, O Lord, are your works, all of them made in wisdom! The earth is filled with your creatures.
25 Assim é este mar grande e muito espaçoso, onde há réptis sem número, animais pequenos e grandes.
And there is the great broad sea, where are countless things in motion, living creatures, both great and small.
26 Ali andam os navios; e o leviathan que formaste para nele folgar.
There go the ships, and the Leviathan you made to play there.
27 Todos esperam de ti, que lhes dês o seu sustento em tempo oportuno.
They all look in hope to you, to give them their food in due season.
28 Dando-lho tu, eles o recolhem; abres a tua mão, e se enchem de bens.
And you give with open hand; they gather and eat to their heart’s desire.
29 Escondes o teu rosto, e ficam perturbados: se lhes tiras o fôlego, morrem, e voltam para o seu pó.
When you hide your face, they are terrified; when you take their breath away, they die and go back to their dust.
30 Envias o teu espírito, e são criados, e assim renovas a face da terra.
But a breath from your lips creates them, and renews the face of the earth.
31 A glória do Senhor durará para sempre: o Senhor se alegrará nas suas obras.
May the glory of the Lord be forever, may the Lord rejoice in his works.
32 Olhando ele para a terra, ela treme; tocando nos montes, logo fumegam.
A glance of his makes the earth tremble, a touch of his makes the hills smoke.
33 Cantarei ao Senhor enquanto eu viver; cantarei louvores ao meu Deus, enquanto eu tiver existência.
I will sing to the Lord while I live, I will play to my God while I am.
34 A minha meditação acerca dele será suave: eu me alegrarei no Senhor.
May my musing be sweet to him, for I rejoice in the Lord.
35 Desçam da terra os pecadores, e os ímpios não sejam mais. bendize, ó alma minha, ao Senhor. louvai ao Senhor.
But may sinners be swept from the earth, and the wicked vanish forever. O my soul, bless the Lord. Hallelujah.
