Jeremias 35

1 A palavra que do Senhor veio a Jeremias, nos dias de Joaquim, filho de Josias, rei de Judá, dizendo:

The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying,

2 Vai à casa dos rechabitas, e fala com eles, e leva-os à casa do Senhor, a uma das câmaras e dá-lhes vinho a beber.

“Go to the house of the Rechabites, and speak to them, and bring them into the LORD’s house, into one of the rooms, and give them wine to drink.”

3 Então tomei a Jasanias, filho de Jeremias, filho de Habazinias, e a seus irmãos, e a todos os seus filhos, e a toda a casa dos rechabitas;

Then I took Jaazaniah the son of Jeremiah, the son of Habazziniah, with his brothers, all his sons, and the whole house of the Rechabites;

4 E os levei à casa do Senhor, à câmara dos filhos de Hanan, filho de Jigdalias, homem de Deus, que está junto à câmara dos príncipes, que está sobre a câmara de Maaseias, filho de Sallum, guarda do vestíbulo:

and I brought them into the LORD’s house, into the room of the sons of Hanan the son of Igdaliah, the man of God, which was by the room of the princes, which was above the room of Maaseiah the son of Shallum, the keeper of the threshold.

5 E pus diante dos filhos da casa dos rechabitas taças cheias de vinho, e copos, e disse-lhes: Bebei vinho.

I set before the sons of the house of the Rechabites bowls full of wine, and cups; and I said to them, “Drink wine!”

6 Porém eles disseram: Não beberemos vinho; porque Jonadab, filho de Rechab, nosso pai, nos mandou, dizendo: Não bebereis vinho, nem vós nem vossos filhos perpetuamente;

But they said, “We will drink no wine; for Jonadab the son of Rechab, our father, commanded us, saying, ‘You shall drink no wine, neither you nor your children, forever.

7 Nem edificareis casa, nem semeareis semente, nem plantareis vinha, nem a possuireis; mas habitareis em tenda todos os vossos dias, para que vivais muitos dias sobre a face da terra, em que vós andais peregrinando.

You shall not build a house, sow seed, plant a vineyard, or have any; but all your days you shall dwell in tents, that you may live many days in the land in which you live as nomads.’

8 Obedecemos pois à voz de Jonadab, filho de Rechab, nosso pai, em tudo quanto nos ordenou; de maneira que não bebemos vinho em todos os nossos dias, nem nós, nem nossas mulheres, nem nossos filhos, nem nossas filhas,

We have obeyed the voice of Jonadab the son of Rechab, our father, in all that he commanded us, to drink no wine all our days, we, our wives, our sons, or our daughters;

9 Nem edificamos casas para nossa habitação: nem temos vinha, nem campo, nem semente.

and not to build houses for ourselves to dwell in. We have no vineyard, field, or seed;

10 E habitamos em tendas, e assim ouvimos e fizemos conforme tudo quanto nos mandou Jonadab, nosso pai.

but we have lived in tents, and have obeyed, and done according to all that Jonadab our father commanded us.

11 Sucedeu, porém, que, subindo Nabucodonozor, rei de Babilônia, a esta terra, dissemos: Vinde, e vamo-nos a Jerusalém, por causa do exército dos caldeus, e por causa do exército dos siros; e assim ficamos em Jerusalém.

But when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up into the land, we said, ‘Come! Let’s go to Jerusalem for fear of the army of the Kasdim, and for fear of the army of the Syrians; so we will dwell at Jerusalem.’”

12 Então veio a palavra do Senhor a Jeremias, dizendo:

Then the LORD’s word came to Jeremiah, saying,

13 Assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos, o Deus de Israel: vai, e dize aos homens de Judá e aos moradores de Jerusalém: Porventura nunca aceitareis ensino, para ouvirdes as minhas palavras? diz o Senhor.

“The LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘Go and tell the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, “Will you not receive instruction to listen to my words?” says the LORD.

14 As palavras de Jonadab, filho de Rechab, que ordenou a seus filhos que não bebessem vinho, foram guardadas; pois não beberam até este dia, antes ouviram o mandamento de seu pai, e eu vos tenho falado a vós, madrugando e falando, porém vós não me ouvistes a mim.

“The words of Jonadab the son of Rechab that he commanded his sons, not to drink wine, are performed; and to this day they drink none, for they obey their father’s commandment; but I have spoken to you, rising up early and speaking, and you have not listened to me.

15 E vos enviei a todos os meus servos, os profetas, madrugando, e enviando, e dizendo: Convertei-vos agora, cada um do seu mau caminho, e fazei boas as vossas ações, e não sigais a outros deuses para servi-los; e assim ficareis na terra que vos dei a vós e a vossos pais; porém não inclinastes o vosso ouvido, nem me obedecestes a mim

I have sent also to you all my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, ‘Every one of you must return now from his evil way, amend your doings, and don’t go after other gods to serve them. Then you will dwell in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers;’ but you have not inclined your ear, nor listened to me.

16 Porquanto os filhos de Jonadab, filho de Rechab, guardaram o mandamento de seu pai que lhes ordenou; e este povo não me obedeceu:

The sons of Jonadab the son of Rechab have performed the commandment of their father which he commanded them, but this people has not listened to me.”’

17 Por isso assim diz o Senhor, o Deus dos exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Eis que trarei sobre Judá, e sobre todos os moradores de Jerusalém, todo o mal que falei contra eles; porquanto lhes tenho falado, e não ouviram; e clamei a eles, e não responderam.

“Therefore the LORD, the God of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘Behold, I will bring on Judah and on all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the evil that I have pronounced against them, because I have spoken to them, but they have not heard; and I have called to them, but they have not answered.’”

18 E à casa dos rechabitas disse Jeremias: Assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Porquanto obedecestes ao mandamento de Jonadab, vosso pai, e guardastes todos os seus mandamentos, e fizestes conforme tudo quanto vos ordenou,

Jeremiah said to the house of the Rechabites, “The LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘Because you have obeyed the commandment of Jonadab your father, and kept all his precepts, and done according to all that he commanded you,’

19 Portanto assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos, Deus de Israel: Nunca faltará varão a Jonadab, filho de Rechab, que assista perante a minha face todos os dias.

therefore the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘Jonadab the son of Rechab will not lack a man to stand before me forever.’”
