Gênesis 35

1 Depois disse Deus a Jacob: Levanta-te, sobe a Bethel, e habita ali; e faz ali um altar ao Deus que te apareceu, quando fugiste diante da face de Esaú teu irmão.

And God said to Jacob, Arise, go up to the place, Baethel, and dwell there; and make there an altar to the God that appeared to thee, when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother.

2 Então disse Jacob à sua família, e a todos os que com ele estavam: tirai os deuses estranhos, que há no meio de vós, e purificai-vos, e mudai os vossos vestidos.

And Jacob said to his house, and to all that were with him, Remove the strange gods that are with you from the midst of you, and purify yourselves, and change your clothes.

3 E levantemo-nos, e subamos a Bethel; e ali farei um altar ao Deus que me respondeu no dia da minha angústia, e que foi comigo no caminho que tenho andado.

And let us rise and go up to Baethel, and let us there make an alter to God who hearkened to me in the day of calamity, who was with me, and preserved me throughout in the journey, by which I went.

4 Então deram a Jacob todos os deuses estranhos, que tinham em suas mãos, e as arrecadas que estavam em suas orelhas; e Jacob os escondeu debaixo do carvalho que está junto a Sichem.

And they gave to Jacob the strange gods, which were in their hands, and the ear-rings which were in their ears, and Jacob hid them under the turpentine tree which is in Secima, and destroyed them to this day.

5 E partiram; e o terror de Deus foi sobre as cidades que estavam ao redor deles, e não seguiram após os filhos de Jacob.

So Israel departed from Secima, and the fear of God was upon the cities round about them, and they did not pursue after the children of Israel.

6 Assim chegou Jacob a Luz, que está na terra de Canaan, (esta é Bethel), ele e todo o povo que com ele havia.

And Jacob came to Luza, which is in the land of Chanaan, which is Baethel, he and all the people that were with him.

7 E edificou ali um altar, e chamou aquele lugar El-beth-el: porquanto Deus ali se lhe tinha manifestado quando fugia diante da face de seu irmão.

And he built there an altar, and called the name of the place Baethel; for there God appeared to him, when he fled from the face of his brother Esau.

8 E morreu deborah, a ama de Rebeca, e foi sepultada ao pé de Bethel, debaixo do carvalho cujo nome chamou Allonbachuth.

And Deborrha, Rebecca's nurse, died, and was buried below Baethel under the oak; and Jacob called its name, The Oak of Mourning.

9 E apareceu Deus outra vez a Jacob, vindo de Paddan-aram, e abençoou-o.

And God appeared to Jacob once more in Luza, when he came out of Mesopotamia of Syria, and God blessed him.

10 E disse-lhe Deus: O teu nome é Jacob; não se chamará mais o teu nome Jacob, mas Israel será o teu nome. E chamou o seu nome Israel.

And God said to him, Thy name shall not be called Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name; and he called his name Israel.

11 Disse-lhe mais Deus: Eu sou o Deus Todo-poderoso; frutifica e multiplica-te; uma nação e multidão de nações sairão de ti, e reis procederão dos teus lombos

And God said to him, I am thy God; increase and multiply; for nations and gatherings of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins.

12 E te darei a ti a terra que tenho dado a Abraão e a Isaac, e à tua semente depois de ti darei a terra.

And the land which I gave to Abraam and Isaac, I have given it to thee; and it shall come to pass that I will give this land also to thy seed after thee.

13 E Deus subiu dele, do lugar onde falara com ele.

And God went up from him from the place where he spoke with him.

14 E Jacob pôs uma coluna no lugar onde falara com ele, uma coluna de pedra; e derramou sobre ela uma libação, e deitou sobre ela azeite.

And Jacob set up a pillar in the place where God spoke with him, [even] a pillar of stone; and offered a libation upon it, and poured oil upon it.

15 E chamou Jacob o nome daquele lugar, onde Deus falara com ele, Bethel.

And Jacob called the name of the place in which God spoke with him, Baethel.

16 E partiram de Bethel: e havia ainda um pequeno espaço de terra para chegar a Ephrata, e pariu Rachel, e ela teve trabalho em seu parto.

[[And Jacob removed from Baethel, and pitched his tent beyond the tower of Gader, ]] and it came to pass when he drew nigh to Chabratha, to enter into Ephratha, Rachel travailed; and in her travail she was in hard labour.

17 E aconteceu que, tendo ela trabalho em seu parto, lhe disse a parteira: Não temas, porque também este filho terás.

And it came to pass in her hard labour, that the midwife said to her, Be of good courage, for thou shalt also have this son.

18 E aconteceu que, saindo-se-lhe a alma (porque morreu), chamou o seu nome Benoni; mas seu pai o chamou Benjamin.

And it came to pass in her giving up the ghost (for she was dying), that she called his name, The son of my pain; but his father called his name Benjamin.

19 Assim morreu Rachel; e foi sepultada no caminho de Ephrata, este é Beth-lehem.

So Rachel died, and was buried in the way of the course of Ephratha, this is Bethleem.

20 E Jacob pôs uma coluna sobre a sua sepultura; esta é a coluna da sepultura de Rachel até ao dia de hoje.

And Jacob set up a pillar on her tomb; this is the pillar on the tomb of Rachel, until this day.

21 Então partiu Israel, e estendeu a sua tenda de além de Migdal Eder.

And it came to pass when Israel dwelt in that land, that Ruben went and lay with Balla, the concubine of his father Jacob; and Israel heard, and the thing appeared grievous before him.

22 E aconteceu que, habitando Israel naquela terra, foi Ruben, e deitou-se com Bilhah, concubina de seu pai; e Israel ouviu-o. E eram doze os filhos de Jacob:

And the sons of Jacob were twelve.

23 Os filhos de Leah: Ruben, o primogênito de Jacob, depois Simeão e Levi, e Judá, e Issacar e Zebulon;

The sons of Lea, the first-born of Jacob; Ruben, Symeon, Levi, Judas, Issachar, Zabulon.

24 Os filhos de Rachel: José e Benjamin;

And the sons of Rachel; Joseph and Benjamin.

25 E os filhos de Bilhah, serva de Rachel: Dan e Naphtali;

And the sons of Balla, the hand-maid of Rachel; Dan and Nephthalim.

26 E os filhos de Zilpah, serva de Leah: Gad e Aser. Estes são os filhos de Jacob, que lhe nasceram em Paddan-aram.

And the sons of Zelpha, the hand-maid of Lea; Gad and Aser. These [are] the sons of Jacob, which were born to him in Mesopotamia of Syria.

27 E Jacob veio a seu pai Isaac, a Mamre, a Kiriath-arba (que é Hebron), onde peregrinaram Abraão e Isaac.

And Jacob came to Isaac his father to Mambre, to a city of the plain; this is Chebron in the land of Chanaan, where Abraam and Isaac sojourned.

28 E foram os dias de Isaac cento e oitenta anos.

And the days of Isaac which he lived were an hundred and eighty years.

29 E Isaac expirou, e morreu, e foi recolhido aos seus povos, velho e farto de dias; e Esaú e Jacob, seus filhos, o sepultaram.

And Isaac gave up the ghost and died, and was laid to his family, old and full of days; and Esau and Jacob his sons buried him.
