1 Coríntios 14
1 Segui a caridade, e procurai com zelo os dons espirituais, mas principalmente o de profetizar.
Labour after charity, and be desirous of spiritual gifts: but especially that ye may prophesy.
2 Porque o que fala língua estranha não fala aos homens, senão a Deus; porque ninguém o entende, e em espírito fala de mistérios.
For he, that speaketh in an unknown tongue, speaketh not to men, but to God: for no one understandeth, though in spirit he speaketh mysteries.
3 Mas o que profetiza fala aos homens para edificação, exortação e consolação.
But he, that prophesieth, speaketh edification, and exhortation, and comfort to men.
4 O que fala língua estranha edifica-se a si mesmo, mas o que profetiza edifica a igreja.
He, that speaketh in an unknown tongue, edifieth himself: but he, that prophesieth, edifieth the church.
5 E eu quero que todos vós faleis línguas estranhas, mas muito mais que profetizeis, porque o que profetiza é maior do que o que fala línguas estranhas, a não ser que também intérprete, para que a igreja receba edificação.
I could wish that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edification.
6 E agora, irmãos, se eu for ter convosco falando línguas estranhas, que vos aproveitaria, se vos não falasse ou por meio da revelação, ou da ciência, ou da profecia, ou da doutrina?
Now, my brethren, if I come to you speaking with many tongues, what shall I profit you, unless I speak intelligibly to you of revelation, or knowledge, or prophecy, or doctrine?
7 Da mesma sorte, se as coisas inanimadas, que fazem sonido, seja flauta, seja Cithara, não formarem sons distintos, como se saberá o que se toca com a flauta ou com a Cithara?
As inanimate things which give a found, whether pipe or harp, unless they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall what is piped or harped be understood?
8 Porque, se a trombeta der sonido incerto, quem se preparará para a batalha?
For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who will prepare himself for the battle?
9 Assim também vós, se com a língua não pronunciardes palavras bem inteligíveis, como se entenderá o que se diz? porque estareis como que falando ao ar
So also unless ye utter by the tongue intelligible words, how shall what is spoken be understood? for thus ye will be only talking to the wind.
10 Há, por exemplo, tantos gêneros de vozes no mundo, e nenhuma delas é sem significação.
There are, it may be, as many kinds of voices in the world as people, and none of them insignificant.
11 Porém, se eu ignorar o sentido da voz, serei bárbaro para aquele a quem falo, e o que fala será bárbaro para mim.
But if I know not the force of the words, I shall be to him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh will be a barbarian to me.
12 Assim também vós, pois que desejais dons espirituais, procurai abundar neles, para edificação da igreja.
So ye also, since ye are so desirous of spiritual gifts, seek to abound in them to the edification of the church.
13 Pelo que, o que fala língua estranha, ore para que possa interpretar.
Wherefore let him, that speaketh in an unknown tongue, pray that he may interpret.
14 Porque, se eu orar em língua estranha, o meu espírito ora bem, mas o meu entendimento fica sem fruto.
For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit indeed prayeth, but my meaning is fruitless.
15 Que farei pois? Orarei com o espírito, mas também orarei com o entendimento; cantarei com o espírito, mas também cantarei com o entendimento.
What is then to be done? I will pray with the Spirit, but I will pray to be understood: I will sing with the spirit, but I will sing to be understood.
16 Doutra maneira, se tu bendisseres com o espírito, como dirá o que ocupa o lugar de indouto, o amém, sobre a tua benção, visto que não sabe o que dizes?
For if thou bless in the spirit, how shall the unlearned say Amen to thy thanksgiving, when he knoweth not what thou sayst?
17 Porque realmente tu dás bem as graças, mas o outro não é edificado.
thou indeed givest thanks well, but the other is not edified.
18 Dou graças ao meu Deus, que falo mais línguas do que vós todos.
I thank God, I speak with tongues more than you all.
19 Porém eu antes quero falar na igreja cinco palavras na minha inteligência, para que possa também instruir os outros, do que dez mil palavras em língua estranha.
But in a public assembly I had rather speak five words to be understood, that I may instruct others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.
20 Irmãos, não sejais meninos no entendimento, mas sede meninos na malícia, e adultos no entendimento.
My brethren, be not children in sense: but in malice be infants, and in your judgements shew yourselves to be men.
21 Está escrito na lei: Por gente de outras línguas, e por outros lábios, falarei a este povo; e ainda assim me não ouvirão, diz o Senhor.
It is written in the law, "By men of another language, and by other lips, will I speak to this people, and even so they will not listen to me, saith the Lord."
22 De sorte que as línguas estranhas são um sinal, não para os fieis, mas para os infieis; e a profecia, não para os infieis, mas para os fieis.
So that tongues are for a sign, not to believers but to unbelievers: but prophecy not to unbelievers but to those that believe.
23 Se pois toda a igreja se congregar num lugar, e todos falarem línguas estranhas, e entrarem indoutos ou infieis, não dirão porventura que estais loucos?
If then the whole church be come together and all speak in unknown tongues, and there come in illiterate persons, or infidels, will they not say that ye are mad?
24 Mas, se todos profetizarem, e algum indouto ou infiel entrar, de todos é convencido, de todos é julgado.
But if all prophesy, and there come in an unbeliever, or one unlearned, he is convinced by all, he is judged by all.
25 E assim os segredos do seu coração ficarão manifestos, e assim, lançando-se sobre o seu rosto, adorará a Deus, publicando que Deus está verdadeiramente entre vós.
And thus the secrets of his heart are made manifest; so that falling down upon his face he will worship God, declaring that God is indeed among you.
26 Que fareis pois, irmãos? Quando vos ajuntais, cada um de vós tem salmo, tem doutrina, tem língua estranha, tem revelação, tem interpretação. Faça-se tudo para edificação.
What is then to be done, my brethren? when ye come together, if any of you hath a psalm, a doctrine, a tongue, a revelation, an interpretation, ---let all be done for edification.
27 E, se alguém falar língua estranha, faça-se isso por dois, ou quando muito três, e por vezes, e um intérprete.
And if any one speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at most by three, and that by turns; and let one interpret.
28 Mas, se não houver intérprete, esteja calado na igreja; porém, fale consigo mesmo, e com Deus.
But if there be no interpreter, let him be silent in the assembly; and let him speak to himself and to God.
29 E falem dois ou três profetas, e os outros julguem.
And let but two or three of the prophets speak, and the others judge.
30 Porém, se a outro, que estiver assentado, for revelada alguma coisa, cale-se o primeiro.
And if any thing be revealed to another sitting by, let the first have done speaking before the other begins.
31 Porque todos podereis profetizar, uns depois dos outros; para que todos aprendam, e todos sejam consolados.
For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.
32 E os espíritos dos profetas estão sujeitos aos profetas.
And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets:
33 Porque Deus não é Deus de confusão, senão de paz, como em todas as igrejas dos santos.
for God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as we see in all the assemblies of the saints.
34 As vossas mulheres estejam caladas nas igrejas; porque lhes não é permitido falar, mas estejam sujeitas, como também ordena a lei.
Let your women be silent in your assemblies: for it is not permitted to them to speak, but they are to be in subjection, as the law saith.
35 E, se querem aprender alguma coisa, interroguem em casa a seus próprios maridos; porque é indecente que as mulheres falem na igreja.
And if they would learn any thing, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it does not become women to speak in a public assembly.
36 Porventura saiu dentre vós a palavra de Deus? Ou veio ela somente para vós?
Did the word of God come out first from you? or did it come to you only?
37 Se alguém cuida ser profeta, ou espiritual, reconheça que as coisas que vos escrevo são mandamentos do Senhor.
If any one seem to be a prophet, or acted by the Spirit, let him acknowlege that what I write to you are the commandments of the Lord.
38 Se alguém, porém, o ignora, ignore.
But if any will be ignorant, let him be ignorant.
39 Portanto, irmãos, procurai, com zelo, profetizar, e não proibais falar línguas.
Wherefore, my brethren, be most desirous to prophesy, and yet forbid not to speak with tongues:
40 Mas faça-se tudo decentemente e com ordem.
but let all things be done decently and in order.
