Provérbios 27
1 Não presumas do dia d'ámanhã, porque não sabes o que parirá o dia.
Boast not thyself of to-morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.
2 Louve-te o estranho, e não a tua bocca, o estrangeiro e não os teus labios.
Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.
3 Pesada é a pedra, e a areia é carregada; porém a ira do insensato é mais pesada do que ellas ambas.
A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty; but a fool's vexation is heavier than they both.
4 Cruel é o furor e a impetuosa ira, mas quem parará perante a inveja?
Wrath is cruel, and anger is overwhelming; but who is able to stand before jealousy?
5 Melhor é a reprehensão aberta do que o amor encoberto.
Better is open rebuke than love that is hidden.
6 Fieis são as feridas feitas pelo que ama, mas os beijos do que aborrece são enganosos.
Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are importunate.
7 A alma farta piza o favo de mel, mas á alma faminta todo o amargo é doce.
The full soul loatheth a honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.
8 Qual é a ave que vagueia do seu ninho, tal é o homem que anda vagueando do seu logar.
As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so is a man that wandereth from his place.
9 O oleo e o perfume alegram o coração: assim a doença do amigo d'alguem com o conselho cordial.
Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart; so doth the sweetness of a man's friend by hearty counsel.
10 Não deixes a teu amigo, nem ao amigo de teu pae, nem entres na casa de teu irmão no dia da tua adversidade: melhor é o visinho de perto do que o irmão ao longe.
Thine own friend, and thy father's friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother's house in the day of thy calamity; better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off.
11 Sê sabio, filho meu, e alegra o meu coração; para que tenha alguma coisa que responder áquelle que me desprezar.
My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him that taunteth me.
12 O avisado vê o mal, e esconde-se; mas os simples passam e pagam a pena.
A prudent man seeth the evil, and hideth himself; but the thoughtless pass on, and are punished.
13 Quando alguem fica por fiador do estranho, toma-lhe tu a sua roupa; e o penhora pela estranha.
Take his garment that is surety for a stranger; and hold him in pledge that is surety for an alien woman.
14 O que bemdiz ao seu amigo em alta voz, madrugando pela manhã, por maldição se lhe contará.
He that blesseth his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it shall be counted a curse to him.
15 O gotejar continuo no dia de grande chuva, e a mulher contenciosa, uma e outra são similhantes.
A continual dropping in a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike;
16 Todos os que a esconderem esconderão o vento: e o oleo da sua dextra clama.
He that would hide her hideth the wind, and the ointment of his right hand betrayeth itself.
17 Como o ferro com o ferro se aguça, assim o homem aguça o rosto do seu amigo.
Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
18 O que guarda a figueira comerá do seu fructo; e o que attenta para seu senhor, será honrado.
Whoso keepeth the fig-tree shall eat the fruit thereof; and he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured.
19 Como na agua o rosto corresponde ao rosto, assim o coração do homem ao homem.
As in water face answereth to face, so the heart of man to man.
20 Como o inferno e a perdição nunca se fartam, assim os olhos do homem nunca se fartam. (Sheol h7585)
The nether-world and Destruction are never satiated; so the eyes of man are never satiated. (Sheol h7585)
21 Como o crisol é para a prata, e o forno para o oiro, assim se prova o homem pelos louvores.
The refining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold, and a man is tried by his praise.
22 Ainda quando pizares o tolo com uma mão de gral entre grãos de cevada pilada, não se irá d'elle a sua estulticia.
Though thou shouldest bray a fool in a mortar with a pestle among groats, yet will not his foolishness depart from him.
23 Procura conhecer o estado das tuas ovelhas: põe o teu coração sobre o gado.
Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds;
24 Porque o thesouro não dura para sempre: ou durará a corôa de geração em geração?
For riches are not for ever; and doth the crown endure unto all generations?
25 Quando se mostrar a herva, e apparecerem os renovos, então ajunta as hervas dos montes.
When the hay is mown, and the tender grass showeth itself, and the herbs of the mountains are gathered in;
26 Os cordeiros serão para te vestires, e os bodes para o preço do campo.
The lambs will be for thy clothing, and the goats the price for a field.
27 E a abastança do leite das cabras para o teu sustento, para sustento da tua casa, e para sustento das tuas creadas.
And there will be goats' milk enough for thy food, for the food of thy household; and maintenance for thy maidens.
