Jó 20
1 Então respondeu Sofar, o naamathita, e disse:
Then Zophar the Naamathite answered,
2 Por isso é que os meus pensamentos me fazem responder, e portanto me apresso.
“Therefore my thoughts answer me, even by reason of my haste that is in me.
3 Eu ouvi a reprehensão, que me envergonha, mas o espirito do meu entendimento responderá por mim.
I have heard the reproof which puts me to shame. The spirit of my understanding answers me.
4 Porventura não sabes isto, que foi desde todo o tempo, desde que o homem foi posto sobre a terra?
Don’t you know this from old time, since man was placed on earth,
5 A saber: que o jubilo dos impios é breve, e a alegria dos hypocritas como d'um momento?
that the triumphing of the wicked is short, the joy of the godless but for a moment?
6 Ainda que a sua altura subisse até ao céu, e a sua cabeça chegasse até ás nuvens,
Though his height mount up to the heavens, and his head reach to the clouds,
7 Comtudo como o seu proprio esterco perecerá para sempre: e os que o viam dirão: Onde está?
yet he will perish forever like his own dung. Those who have seen him will say, ‘Where is he?’
8 Como um sonho vôa, e não será achado, e será afugentado como uma visão da noite.
He will fly away as a dream, and will not be found. Yes, he will be chased away like a vision of the night.
9 O olho que já o viu jamais o verá, nem olhará mais para elle o seu logar.
The eye which saw him will see him no more, neither will his place see him any more.
10 Os seus filhos procurarão agradar aos pobres, e as suas mãos restaurarão a sua fazenda.
His children will seek the favour of the poor. His hands will give back his wealth.
11 Os seus ossos se encherão dos seus peccados occultos, e juntamente se deitarão com elle no pó.
His bones are full of his youth, but youth will lie down with him in the dust.
12 Ainda que o mal lhe seja doce na bocca, e elle o esconda debaixo da sua lingua,
“Though wickedness is sweet in his mouth, though he hide it under his tongue,
13 E o guarde, e o não deixe, antes o retenha no seu paladar,
though he spare it, and will not let it go, but keep it still within his mouth,
14 Comtudo a sua comida se mudará nas suas entranhas; fel d'aspides será interiormente.
yet his food in his bowels is turned. It is cobra venom within him.
15 Enguliu fazendas, porém vomitalas-ha; do seu ventre Deus as lançará.
He has swallowed down riches, and he will vomit them up again. God will cast them out of his belly.
16 Veneno d'aspides sorverá; lingua de vibora o matará.
He will suck cobra venom. The viper’s tongue will kill him.
17 Não verá as correntes, os rios e os ribeiros de mel e manteiga.
He will not look at the rivers, the flowing streams of honey and butter.
18 Restituirá do seu trabalho, e não o engulirá: conforme ao poder de sua mudança, e não saltará de gozo.
He will restore that for which he laboured, and will not swallow it down. He will not rejoice according to the substance that he has gotten.
19 Porquanto opprimiu, desamparou os pobres, e roubou a casa que não edificou.
For he has oppressed and forsaken the poor. He has violently taken away a house, and he will not build it up.
20 Porquanto não sentiu socego no seu ventre; da sua tão desejada fazenda coisa nenhuma reterá.
“Because he knew no quietness within him, he will not save anything of that in which he delights.
21 Nada lhe sobejará do que coma; pelo que a sua fazenda não será duravel.
There was nothing left that he didn’t devour, therefore his prosperity will not endure.
22 Estando já cheia a sua abastança, estará angustiado: toda a mão dos miseraveis virá sobre elle
In the fullness of his sufficiency, distress will overtake him. The hand of everyone who is in misery will come on him.
23 Haja porém ainda de que possa encher o seu ventre; comtudo Deus mandará sobre elle o ardor da sua ira, e a fará chover sobre elle quando elle fôr a comer.
When he is about to fill his belly, God will cast the fierceness of his wrath on him. It will rain on him while he is eating.
24 Ainda que fuja das armas de ferro, o arco d'aço o atravessará.
He will flee from the iron weapon. The bronze arrow will strike him through.
25 Desembainhada a espada, sairá do seu corpo, e resplandecendo virá do seu fel: e haverá sobre elle assombros.
He draws it out, and it comes out of his body. Yes, the glittering point comes out of his liver. Terrors are on him.
26 Toda a escuridão se occultará nos seus esconderijos: um fogo não assoprado o consumirá: e com o que ficar na sua tenda irá mal.
All darkness is laid up for his treasures. An unfanned fire will devour him. It will consume that which is left in his tent.
27 Os céus manifestarão a sua iniquidade: e a terra se levantará contra elle.
The heavens will reveal his iniquity. The earth will rise up against him.
28 As rendas de sua casa serão transportadas: no dia da sua ira todas se derramarão.
The increase of his house will depart. They will rush away in the day of his wrath.
29 Esta, da parte de Deus, é a porção do homem impio: e, da parte de Deus, a herança dos seus ditos.
This is the portion of a wicked man from God, the heritage appointed to him by God.”
