Łukasza 23
1 Wtedy całe to zgromadzenie powstało i zaprowadzili go do Piłata.
The whole council rose and took him to Pilate.
2 I zaczęli go oskarżać, mówiąc: Zastaliśmy tego [człowieka], jak odwracał naród i zakazywał płacić podatki cesarzowi, mówiąc, że on jest Chrystusem, królem.
There they started to accuse him. “We found this man deceiving our nation, telling people not to pay taxes to Caesar, and claiming he is Messiah, a king,” they said.
3 Piłat zapytał go: Czy ty jesteś królem Żydów? A on mu odpowiedział: Ty [sam to] mówisz.
“Are you the King of the Jews?” Pilate asked him. “So you say,” replied Jesus.
4 Wtedy Piłat powiedział do naczelnych kapłanów i do ludu: Nie znajduję żadnej winy w tym człowieku.
Then Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds, “I don't find this man guilty of any crime.”
5 Lecz oni [jeszcze] bardziej nastawali, mówiąc: Podburza lud, nauczając po całej Judei, począwszy od Galilei aż dotąd.
But they insisted, saying, “He is inciting rebellion all over Judea with his teachings, from Galilee to right here in Jerusalem.”
6 Kiedy Piłat usłyszał o Galilei, zapytał, czy człowiek ten jest Galilejczykiem.
When he heard this, Pilate asked, “Is this man a Galilean?”
7 A gdy się dowiedział, że podlega władzy Heroda, odesłał go do Heroda, który w tych dniach również był w Jerozolimie.
When he discovered that Jesus came under Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod who was also in Jerusalem at the time.
8 Na widok Jezusa Herod bardzo się ucieszył. Od dawna bowiem pragnął go zobaczyć, ponieważ wiele o nim słyszał i spodziewał się, że ujrzy jakiś cud przez niego dokonany.
Herod was very pleased to see Jesus since he had wanted to meet him for a long time. He had heard about Jesus and was hoping to see him perform a miracle.
9 I zadawał mu wiele pytań, lecz on mu nic nie odpowiedział.
He asked Jesus many questions, but Jesus did not answer him at all.
10 A naczelni kapłani i uczeni w Piśmie stali [tam] i gwałtownie go oskarżali.
The chief priests and religious teachers stood there, angrily accusing him.
11 Wtedy Herod ze swymi żołnierzami wzgardził nim i naśmiewał się z niego, ubierając go w białą szatę, i odesłał z powrotem do Piłata.
Herod and his soldiers treated Jesus with contempt and mocked him. Then they placed a royal robe on him and sent him back to Pilate.
12 W tym dniu Piłat i Herod stali się przyjaciółmi. Przedtem bowiem byli sobie wrogami.
From that day on Herod and Pilate were friends—before that they had been enemies.
13 A Piłat, zwoławszy naczelnych kapłanów, przełożonych oraz lud;
Pilate called together the chief priests, rulers, and the people,
14 Powiedział do nich: Przyprowadziliście mi tego człowieka jako podburzającego lud. Otóż ja przesłuchałem [go] wobec was i nie znalazłem w tym człowieku żadnej winy w sprawach, o które go oskarżacie;
and told them, “You brought this man before me, accusing him of inciting the people to rebellion. I've carefully examined him in your presence, and do not find him guilty of the charges you have brought against him.
15 Ani też Herod. Odesłałem was bowiem do niego i nie znalazł w nim nic, co zasługiwałoby na śmierć.
Neither did Herod, for he sent him back to us. He has done nothing that demands he should be put to death.
16 Ubiczuję go więc i wypuszczę.
So I will have him flogged and then release him.”
17 Piłat bowiem miał obowiązek wypuszczać im jednego [więźnia] na święto.
18 Wtedy wszyscy razem zawołali: Strać tego [człowieka], a wypuść nam Barabasza!
But they all shouted together, “Kill this man, and release Barabbas to us.”
19 Był on wtrącony do więzienia za jakiś rozruch wywołany w mieście i za zabójstwo.
(Barabbas had been put in prison for taking part in a rebellion in the city, and for murder.)
20 Wtedy Piłat znowu przemówił, chcąc wypuścić Jezusa.
Pilate wanted to release Jesus, so spoke to them again.
21 Oni jednak wołali: Ukrzyżuj, ukrzyżuj go!
But they kept on shouting, “Crucify him! Crucify him!”
22 A on po raz trzeci powiedział do nich: Cóż on złego uczynił? Nie znalazłem w nim nic, co zasługuje na śmierć. Ubiczuję go więc i wypuszczę.
Pilate asked them for the third time, “But why? What crime has he committed? I don't find any reason for executing him. So I will have him flogged and then release him.”
23 Lecz oni nalegali donośnym głosem, domagając się, aby go ukrzyżowano. I wzmagały się głosy ich i naczelnych kapłanów.
But they continued insisting with loud shouts, demanding that he be crucified. Their shouting succeeded,
24 Piłat więc zawyrokował, aby stało się według ich żądania.
and Pilate gave the sentence they demanded.
25 I uwolnił im [tego], o którego prosili, a który został wtrącony do więzienia za rozruch i zabójstwo. Jezusa zaś zdał na ich wolę.
He released the man imprisoned for rebellion and murder, but he sent Jesus to be put to death in accordance with their demands.
26 A gdy go prowadzili, zatrzymali niejakiego Szymona z Cyreny, który szedł z pola, i włożyli na niego krzyż, aby [go] niósł za Jezusem.
As the soldiers led him away, they seized a man called Simon of Cyrene, who had come in from the countryside. They put the cross on him and made him carry it behind Jesus.
27 I szło za nim wielkie mnóstwo ludzi i kobiet, które płakały nad nim i zawodziły.
A large crowd followed him, along with women who were mourning and lamenting him.
28 Ale Jezus zwrócił się do nich i powiedział: Córki Jerozolimy, nie płaczcie nade mną, ale raczej płaczcie nad sobą i nad waszymi dziećmi.
Jesus turned to them and said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, don't weep for me. Weep for yourselves and your children.
29 Oto bowiem idą dni, kiedy będą mówić: Błogosławione niepłodne, łona, które nie rodziły, i piersi, które nie karmiły.
For the time is coming when they'll say, ‘Happy are those who are childless, and those who never had babies, and those who never nursed them.’
30 Wtedy zaczną mówić do gór: Padnijcie na nas! A do pagórków: Przykryjcie nas!
They'll say to the mountains, ‘Fall down on us,’ and to the hills, ‘Cover us.’
31 Bo jeśli na zielonym drzewie tak się dzieje, cóż będzie na suchym?
For if they do this to wood that is green, what will happen when it's dried out?”
32 Prowadzono też dwóch innych, złoczyńców, aby razem z nim zostali straceni.
They also took two others who were criminals to be executed with him.
33 A gdy przyszli na miejsce zwane [Miejscem] Czaszki, ukrzyżowali tam jego i złoczyńców, jednego po prawej, a drugiego po lewej stronie.
When they reached the place called the Skull they crucified him together with the criminals, one on his right, and the other on his left.
34 Wtedy Jezus powiedział: Ojcze, przebacz im, bo nie wiedzą, co czynią. Potem podzielili jego szaty i rzucali [o nie] losy.
Jesus said, “Father, please forgive them, for they don't know what they're doing.” They divided up his clothes by throwing dice for them.
35 A lud stał i przypatrywał się, i wraz z przełożonymi naśmiewał się z niego, mówiąc: Innych ratował, niech ratuje samego siebie, jeśli on jest Chrystusem, wybranym Boga.
The people stood and watched and the leaders sneered at Jesus. “He saved others, let him save himself, if he is really God's Messiah, the Chosen One,” they said.
36 Naśmiewali się z niego również żołnierze, podchodząc i podając mu ocet;
The soldiers also mocked him, coming up to him and offering him wine vinegar, saying,
37 I mówili: Jeśli ty jesteś królem Żydów, ratuj samego siebie.
“If you're the King of the Jews, then save yourself.”
38 Był też nad nim napis sporządzony w języku greckim, łacińskim i hebrajskim: To jest król Żydów.
Above Jesus was a sign on which it was written, “This is the King of the Jews.”
39 A jeden z tych złoczyńców, którzy z nim wisieli, urągał mu: Jeśli ty jesteś Chrystusem, ratuj siebie i nas.
One of the criminals hanging there joined in the insults against Jesus. “Aren't you the Messiah?” he asked. “Then save yourself—and us too!”
40 Lecz drugi odezwał się, gromiąc go słowami: I ty się Boga nie boisz, chociaż ponosisz tę samą karę?
But the other criminal disagreed and argued with him, “Don't you fear God even when you're suffering the same punishment?” he asked.
41 My doprawdy – sprawiedliwie, bo odbieramy należną zapłatę za nasze uczynki, ale on nic złego nie zrobił.
“For us the sentence is right since we're being punished for what we did, but this man didn't do anything wrong.”
42 I powiedział do Jezusa: Panie, wspomnij na mnie, gdy przyjdziesz do swego królestwa.
Then he said, “Jesus, please remember me when you come into your kingdom.”
43 A Jezus mu odpowiedział: Zaprawdę powiadam ci: Dziś będziesz ze mną w raju.
Jesus replied, “I promise you today you will be with me in paradise.”
44 A było około godziny szóstej i ciemność ogarnęła całą ziemię aż do godziny dziewiątej.
By this time it was around noon and darkness fell over the whole land until three in the afternoon.
45 I zaćmiło się słońce, a zasłona świątyni rozerwała się przez środek.
The sun's light was shut out, and the Temple veil was torn in two.
46 Wtedy Jezus zawołał donośnym głosem: Ojcze, w twoje ręce powierzam mego ducha. Gdy to powiedział, skonał.
Jesus called out in a loud voice, “Father, I place myself in your hands.” Having said this he breathed his last.
47 A setnik, widząc, co się działo, chwalił Boga, mówiąc: Istotnie, to był sprawiedliwy człowiek.
When the centurion saw what had happened he praised God and said, “Surely this man was innocent.”
48 Także i wszyscy ludzie, którzy zeszli się na to widowisko, gdy zobaczyli, co się stało, bili się w piersi i zawracali.
When all the crowds that had come to watch saw what happened they went home beating their chests in grief.
49 Wszyscy zaś jego znajomi stali z daleka, przypatrując się temu, również kobiety, które przyszły za nim z Galilei.
But all those who knew Jesus, including the women who'd followed him from Galilee, watched from a distance.
50 A był tam człowiek imieniem Józef, który był członkiem Rady, człowiek dobry i sprawiedliwy.
There was a man called Joseph who was good and honest. He was a member of the council,
51 Nie zgadzał się on z ich uchwałą i czynem. Pochodził z Arymatei, miasta żydowskiego, i oczekiwał królestwa Bożego.
but he hadn't agreed with its decisions and actions. He came from the Jewish town of Arimathea, and was waiting expectantly for the kingdom of God.
52 Przyszedł on do Piłata i poprosił o ciało Jezusa.
Joseph went to Pilate and asked for Jesus' body.
53 Zdjął je, owinął płótnem i położył w grobowcu wykutym [w skale], w którym jeszcze nikt nigdy nie był złożony.
Once he'd taken it down, he wrapped it in a linen cloth. He laid Jesus in an unused tomb cut into the rock.
54 A był to dzień przygotowania i zbliżał się szabat.
It was preparation day and the Sabbath would soon begin.
55 Poszły też za nim kobiety, które przybyły z nim z Galilei. Zobaczyły grobowiec i jak złożono jego ciało.
The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee had followed Joseph and had seen the tomb where Jesus' body had been laid.
56 A gdy wróciły, przygotowały wonności i olejki. Lecz w szabat odpoczywały zgodnie z przykazaniem.
They returned home and prepared spices and ointments. But on the Sabbath they rested, observing the commandment.
