Hioba 37
1 I drży z tego powodu moje serce, i wyrywa się ze swego miejsca.
At this also my heart trembleth, and is moved out of its place.
2 Słuchajcie uważnie grzmotu jego głosu i dźwięku, który wychodzi z jego ust.
Hear attentively the noise of his voice, and the sound that goeth out of his mouth.
3 Pod całym niebem go wypuszcza, a jego błyskawicę – na krańce ziemi.
He directeth it under the whole heaven, and his lightning to the ends of the earth.
4 Po niej huczy grzmot, grzmi głosem swojego majestatu, i nie powstrzymuje ich, gdy słychać jego głos.
After it a voice roareth: he thundereth with the voice of his excellency; and he will not restrain them when his voice is heard.
5 Bóg cudownie grzmi swoim głosem, czyni wielkie rzeczy, których nie możemy zrozumieć.
God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things he doeth, which we cannot comprehend.
6 Mówi bowiem do śniegu: Padaj na ziemię, a także do deszczu i do ulewy jego potęgi.
For he saith to the snow, Be thou on the earth; likewise to the small rain, and to the great rain of his strength.
7 Pieczętuje rękę każdego człowieka, aby wszyscy ludzie poznali jego dzieło.
He sealeth up the hand of every man; that all men may know his work.
8 Wtedy zwierzęta wchodzą do jaskini i zostają w swoich jamach.
Then the beasts go into dens, and remain in their places.
9 Od południa przychodzi wicher, a zima od wiatrów północnych.
From the south cometh the whirlwind: and cold from the north.
10 Swoim tchnieniem Bóg czyni lód i ścinają się szerokie wody.
By the breath of God frost is given: and the breadth of the waters is narrowed.
11 Także wilgocią [ziemi] obciąża obłok, rozpędza chmurę swoim światłem.
Also by watering he wearieth the thick cloud: he scattereth his bright cloud:
12 One krążą według jego rady, aby czyniły wszystko, co rozkazuje na powierzchni okręgu ziemi.
And it is turned around by his counsels: that they may do whatever he commandeth them upon the face of the world on the earth.
13 A on sprawia, że się pojawiają – czy to dla karania, czy dla swojej ziemi, czy dla [okazywania] miłosierdzia.
He causeth it to come, whether for correction, or for his land, or for mercy.
14 Słuchaj tego uważnie, Hiobie; zastanów się i rozważ cudowne dzieła Boga.
Hearken to this, O Job: stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.
15 Czy wiesz, kiedy i [co] postanawia Bóg o tych sprawach albo kiedy rozjaśnia światło swej chmury?
Dost thou know when God disposed them, and caused the light of his cloud to shine?
16 Czy wiesz, jak wiszą chmury – cuda tego, który jest doskonały we wszelkiej wiedzy?
Dost thou know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him who is perfect in knowledge?
17 [Czy wiesz], jak twoje szaty się rozgrzewają, gdy on uspokaja ziemię wiatrem południowym?
How thy garments are warm, when he quieteth the earth by the south wind?
18 Czy rozpościerałeś z nim niebiosa, [które są] trwałe i podobne do zwierciadła odlanego?
Hast thou with him spread out the sky, which is strong, and as a molten looking glass?
19 Poucz nas, co mamy mu powiedzieć, [bo] nie możemy ułożyć słów z powodu ciemności.
Teach us what we shall say to him; for we cannot order our speech by reason of darkness.
20 Czy należy go powiadomić, że przemawiam? [Przecież] jeśli ktoś przemówi, zostanie na pewno pożarty.
Shall it be told him that I speak? if a man shall speak, surely he shall be swallowed up.
21 Teraz jednak [ludzie] nie mogą patrzyć na światło, gdy jaśnieje w chmurach, gdy wiatr przechodzi [i] rozprasza je.
And now men see not the bright light which is in the clouds: but the wind passeth, and cleanseth them.
22 Od północy przychodzi [jakby] złoty [blask, ale] w Bogu jest straszliwy majestat.
Fair weather cometh from the north: with God is terrible majesty.
23 On jest Wszechmocny, nie możemy go doścignąć. On jest wielki w potędze i sądzie i bogaty w sprawiedliwość. Nie uciska [nikogo].
As for the Almighty, we cannot find him out: he is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in abundance of justice: he will not afflict.
24 Dlatego boją się go ludzie. On nie ma względu na żadnego, który jest mądry w sercu.
Men therefore fear him: he respecteth not any that are wise of heart.
