1 Słowo, które prorok Jeremiasz wypowiedział do Barucha, syna Neriasza, gdy spisał te słowa w księdze z ust Jeremiasza w czwartym roku Joakima, syna Jozjasza, króla Judy:

The message that Jeremiah the prophet spoke to Baruch the son of Neriah, when he wrote these words in a scroll at the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying,

2 Tak mówi PAN, Bóg Izraela, do ciebie, Baruchu:

"Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, to you, Baruch:

3 Powiedziałeś: Biada mi teraz! Bo PAN przydaje smutku do mojego bólu; utrudziłem się swoim wzdychaniem i nie znajduję odpoczynku.

'You said, "Woe is me now. For the LORD has added sorrow to my pain; I am weary with my groaning, and I find no rest."'"

4 Tak powiesz do niego: Tak mówi PAN: Oto co zbudowałem, zburzę, co zasadziłem, wyplenię, tę całą ziemię.

"You shall tell him, 'Thus says the LORD: "Look, that which I have built will I break down, and that which I have planted I will pluck up; and this in the whole land.

5 A ty szukasz dla siebie wielkich rzeczy? Nie szukaj. Oto bowiem sprowadzę nieszczęście na wszelkie ciało, mówi PAN. Ale tobie dam twoje życie jako zdobycz we wszystkich miejscach, dokądkolwiek pójdziesz.

Do you seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them; for, look, I will bring disaster on all flesh, says the LORD; but your life will I give to you for a reward in all places where you go."'"
