II Królewska 18
1 W trzecim roku Ozeasza, syna Eli, króla Izraela, Ezechiasz, syn Achaza, króla Judy, [zaczął] królować.
Now it happened in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign.
2 Miał on dwadzieścia pięć lat, kiedy zaczął królować, i królował dwadzieścia dziewięć lat w Jerozolimie. Jego matka [miała] na imię Abi [i była] córką Zachariasza.
He was twenty-five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was Abi the daughter of Zechariah.
3 Czynił on to, co było słuszne w oczach PANA, wszystko tak, jak czynił Dawid, jego ojciec.
He did that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah, according to all that David his father had done.
4 Zniósł wyżyny, rozbił posągi, powycinał gaje i potłukł węża miedzianego, którego uczynił Mojżesz, bo aż do tego czasu synowie Izraela palili mu kadzidło, i nazwał go Nehustan.
He removed the high places, and broke the pillars, and cut down the Asherah: and he broke in pieces the bronze serpent that Moses had made; for in those days the children of Israel burned incense to it; and he called it Nehushtan.
5 Zaufał PANU, Bogu Izraela. I spośród wszystkich królów Judy nie było nikogo podobnego do niego ani [z tych, którzy byli] po nim, ani [z tych], którzy byli przed nim.
He trusted in Jehovah, the God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor among them that were before him.
6 Przylgnął bowiem do PANA i nie odstępował od niego, ale przestrzegał jego przykazań, które PAN nadał Mojżeszowi.
For he joined with Jehovah; he did not depart from following him, but kept his commandments, which Jehovah commanded Moses.
7 A PAN był z nim i powodziło mu się, gdziekolwiek wyruszał. Zbuntował się przeciw królowi Asyrii i nie służył mu.
Jehovah was with him; wherever he went forth he prospered: and he rebelled against the king of Assyria, and did not serve him.
8 To on pokonał Filistynów aż do Gazy i jej granic, od wieży strażników aż do miasta warownego.
He struck the Philistines to Gaza and its borders, from the tower of the watchmen to the fortified city.
9 W czwartym roku króla Ezechiasza – był to siódmy rok Ozeasza, syna Eli, króla Izraela – Salmanaser, król Asyrii, wyruszył przeciwko Samarii i obległ ją.
It happened in the fourth year of king Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria, and besieged it.
10 I zdobył ją pod koniec trzeciego roku. W szóstym roku Ezechiasza – był to dziewiąty rok Ozeasza, króla Izraela – Samaria została zdobyta.
At the end of three years they took it: in the sixth year of Hezekiah, which was the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken.
11 Wtedy król Asyrii uprowadził Izraela do Asyrii i osiedlił ich w Chalach i Chaborze, przy rzece Gozanu, i w miastach Medów;
The king of Assyria carried Israel away to Assyria, and put them in Halah, and on the Habor, the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes,
12 Ponieważ nie posłuchali głosu PANA, swego Boga, ale przekroczyli jego przymierze [oraz] to wszystko, co nakazał Mojżesz, sługa PANA. Nie słuchali tego i nie wypełniali.
because they did not obey the voice of Jehovah their God, but transgressed his covenant, even all that Moses the servant of Jehovah commanded, and would not hear it, nor do it.
13 W czternastym roku króla Ezechiasza Sennacheryb, król Asyrii, wyruszył przeciw wszystkim warownym miastom Judy i zdobył je.
Now in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah, Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the fortified cities of Judah, and took them.
14 Wtedy Ezechiasz, król Judy, posłał do króla Asyrii do Lakisz, mówiąc: Postąpiłem źle, odstąp ode mnie. Cokolwiek na mnie nałożysz, poniosę. Król Asyrii nałożył więc na Ezechiasza, króla Judy, trzysta talentów srebra i trzydzieści talentów złota.
Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria to Lachish, saying, "I have offended; return from me. That which you put on me, I will bear." The king of Assyria appointed to Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.
15 I Ezechiasz dał mu całe srebro, które się znalazło w domu PANA i w skarbcach domu królewskiego.
Hezekiah gave him all the silver that was found in the house of Jehovah, and in the treasures of the king's house.

At that time, Hezekiah cut off the gold from the doors of Jehovah's temple, and from the pillars which Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.
17 Jednakże król Asyrii posłał z Lakisz Tartana, Rabsarisa i Rabszaka z wielkim wojskiem do Jerozolimy, do króla Ezechiasza. Wyruszyli i przybyli do Jerozolimy. Gdy przybyli, przyszli i zatrzymali się przy kanale górnej sadzawki, która jest przy drodze pola folusznika.
The king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rabsaris and Rabshakeh from Lachish to king Hezekiah with a great army to Jerusalem. They went up and came to Jerusalem and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is on the highway of the Launderers' Field.
18 A gdy wołali do króla, wyszli do nich Eliakim, syn Chilkiasza, przełożony domu, Szebna, pisarz, oraz Joach, syn Asafa, kronikarz.
When they had called to the king, there came out to them Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, and Shebnah the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder.
19 Wtedy Rabszak powiedział do nich: Powiedzcie Ezechiaszowi: Tak mówi wielki król, król Asyrii: Co to za ufność, na której polegasz?
Rabshakeh said to them, "Say now to Hezekiah, 'Thus says the great king, the king of Assyria, "What confidence is this in which you trust?
20 Mówisz – ale to słowa daremne – mam dość rady i siły do wojny. Teraz więc w kim pokładasz ufność, że zbuntowałeś się przeciwko mnie?
Do you think that empty words are strategy and power for war? Now on whom do you trust, that you have rebelled against me?
21 Oto teraz opierasz się na tej nadłamanej lasce trzcinowej – na Egipcie – która gdy ktoś się oprze na niej, wbija mu się w dłoń i przebija ją. Taki jest faraon, król Egiptu, dla wszystkich, którzy mu ufają.
Now, look, you trust in the staff of this bruised reed, even in Egypt. If a man leans on it, it will go into his hand, and pierce it. So is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who trust on him.
22 A jeśli mi powiecie: Ufamy PANU, naszemu Bogu – czy on nie jest tym, którego wyżyny i ołtarze zniósł Ezechiasz i nakazał Judzie i Jerozolimie: Przed tym ołtarzem w Jerozolimie będziecie oddawać pokłon?
But if you tell me, 'We trust in Jehovah our God;' isn't that he whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah has taken away, and has said to Judah and to Jerusalem, 'You shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?'
23 Dlatego teraz proszę, daj zastaw memu panu, królowi Asyrii, a dam ci dwa tysiące koni, jeśli zdołasz posadzić na nich jeźdźców.
Now therefore, please give pledges to my master the king of Assyria, and I will give you two thousand horses, if you are able on your part to set riders on them.
24 Jakże więc stawisz opór jednemu dowódcy z najmniejszych sług mego pana, a pokładasz nadzieję w Egipcie, że [otrzymasz] rydwany i jeźdźców?
How then can you turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master's servants, and put your trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?
25 Poza tym – czy bez [woli] PANA wyruszyłem przeciw temu miejscu, aby je zburzyć? PAN powiedział do mnie: Wyrusz przeciwko tej ziemi i spustosz ją.
Have I now come up without Jehovah against this place to destroy it? Jehovah said to me, 'Go up against this land, and destroy it.'"'"
26 Wtedy Eliakim, syn Chilkiasza, Szebna i Joach powiedzieli do Rabszaka: Proszę, mów do swoich sług po syryjsku, bo rozumiemy, a nie mów z nami po hebrajsku wobec ludu, który jest na murze.
Then Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, and Shebnah, and Joah, said to Rabshakeh, "Please speak to your servants in the Aramaic language; for we understand it. Do not speak with us in the Jews' language, in the hearing of the people who are on the wall."
27 Lecz Rabszak odpowiedział: Czy do twego pana i do ciebie posłał mnie mój pan, abym mówił te słowa? Czyż nie do tych mężczyzn siedzących na murze, aby jedli swój kał i pili swój mocz razem z wami?
But Rabshakeh said to them, "Has my master sent me to your master, and to you, to speak these words? Hasn't he sent me to the men who sit on the wall, to eat their own dung, and to drink their own water with you?"
28 Wstał więc Rabszak i zawołał donośnym głosem po hebrajsku tymi słowami: Słuchajcie słów wielkiego króla, króla Asyrii.
Then Rabshakeh stood, and cried with a loud voice in the Jews' language, and spoke, saying, "Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria.
29 Tak mówi król: Niech was nie zwodzi Ezechiasz, bo nie będzie mógł wyrwać was z mojej ręki.
Thus says the king, 'Do not let Hezekiah deceive you; for he will not be able to deliver you out of my hand.
30 I nie dajcie się przekonać Ezechiaszowi, by zaufać PANU, gdy mówi: Na pewno PAN nas wybawi i to miasto nie będzie wydane w ręce króla Asyrii.
Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in Jehovah, saying, "Jehovah will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria."
31 Nie słuchajcie Ezechiasza. Tak bowiem mówi król Asyrii: Zawrzyjcie ze mną przymierze i wyjdźcie do mnie, a każdy będzie jeść ze swojej winorośli i ze swego drzewa figowego i każdy będzie pić wodę ze swojej studni;
Do not listen to Hezekiah.' For thus says the king of Assyria, 'Make your peace with me, and come out to me; and everyone of you eat of his vine, and everyone of his fig tree, and everyone drink the waters of his own cistern;
32 Aż przyjdę i zabiorę was do ziemi podobnej do waszej, do ziemi zboża i wina, do ziemi chleba i winnic, do ziemi drzew oliwnych, oliwy i miodu. Będziecie żyć, a nie umierać. Nie słuchajcie Ezechiasza, bo was zwodzi, mówiąc: PAN nas wybawi.
until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of olive trees and of honey, that you may live, and not die. Do not listen to Hezekiah, when he persuades you, saying, "Jehovah will deliver us."
33 Czy bogowie [innych] narodów mogli wybawić swoją ziemię z ręki króla Asyrii?
Has any of the gods of the nations ever delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
34 Gdzie są bogowie Chamatu i Arpadu? Gdzie są bogowie Sefarwaim, Heny i Iwwy? Czy wyrwali Samarię z moich rąk?
Where are the gods of Hamath, and of Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim, of Hena, and Ivvah? Have they delivered Samaria out of my hand?
35 Którzy spośród wszystkich bogów tych ziem wybawili swoją ziemię z mojej ręki, żeby PAN miał wybawić Jerozolimę z mojej ręki?
Who are they among all the gods of the countries, that have delivered their country out of my hand, that Jehovah should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?'"
36 Lecz lud milczał i nie odpowiedział mu ani słowa, bo taki był rozkaz króla: Nie odpowiadajcie mu.
But the people held their peace, and answered him not a word; for the king's commandment was, "Do not answer him."
37 Wtedy przyszli przełożony domu Eliakim, syn Chilkiasza, pisarz Szebna i kronikarz Joach, syn Asafa, do Ezechiasza, z rozdartymi szatami, i oznajmili mu słowa Rabszaka.
Then Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, came with Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder, to Hezekiah with their clothes torn, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.
