Psalms 49
1 Komail kainok kan karoj ron o dedeki, komail toun jap karoj.
For the Chief Musician. A Psalm by the sons of Korah. Hear this, all you peoples. Listen, all you inhabitants of the world,
2 Ir karoj, aramaj o jaupeidi, ir karoj me kapwapwa o jamama kan!
both low and high, rich and poor together.
3 Au ai pan kaparok duen lolekon, o monion I duen lamalam pun.
My mouth will speak words of wisdom. My heart will utter understanding.
4 I pan kapaike don jalon ai lepen majan, o i pan kajaleda me rir akan ni nil en arp.
I will incline my ear to a proverb. I will solve my riddle on the harp.
5 Da me i en majak ni ran apwal akan, ma me japun kan kapil ia pena,
Why should I fear in the days of evil, when iniquity at my heels surrounds me?
6 Me kin kaporoporeki ar dipijou o juaiki ar kapwa toto?
Those who trust in their wealth, and boast in the multitude of their riches—
7 Pwe jota me kak dorela ri a, de tomeki i ren Kot,
none of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give God a ransom for him.
8 (Pwe meid apwal, en dorela nen ar; a jota pan pwaida kokolata).
For the redemption of their life is costly, no payment is ever enough,
9 Pwen maur potopot o jota kilan joujou o.
that he should live on forever, that he should not see corruption.
10 Pwe a kin kilan, me lolekon kan kin mela dueta me pweipwei o iakalar akan, o re pan mueid on amen ar dipijou kan.
For he sees that wise men die; likewise the fool and the senseless perish, and leave their wealth to others.
11 I me re kin peren kida, ma im arail pan duedueta, o deu’rail pan mimieta kokolata; o re konekon melel nin jappa.
Their inward thought is that their houses will endure forever, and their dwelling places to all generations. They name their lands after themselves.
12 Ari jo, aramaj me konekon jota kak mimieta ni mepukat, pwe a pan kokowei dueta man amen.
But man, despite his riches, doesn’t endure. He is like the animals that perish.
13 let ar wiawia pukat meid pweipwei; ari jo, kadaudok ar kin kapina ki au arail.
This is the destiny of those who are foolish, and of those who approve their sayings. (Selah)
14 Re wonon nan wajan mela dueta pwin jip; mela kin kamana ir; a me lelapok kan pan kaun irail da madan, o mom ar pan joredi, o re pan doo jan deurail, mimieta nan pweleko. (Sheol h7585)
They are appointed as a flock for Sheol. Death shall be their shepherd. The upright shall have dominion over them in the morning. Their beauty shall decay in Sheol, far from their mansion. (Sheol h7585)
15 A Kot pan kotin dorela nen i jan nan mana en wajan mela, pwe a pan kotin japwilimane kin ia. (Sheol h7585)
But God will redeem my soul from the power of Sheol, for he will receive me. (Selah) (Sheol h7585)
16 Koe der puriamuiki, ma amen pan kapwapwala, o ma linan en im a pan laudala.
Don’t be afraid when a man is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased;
17 Pwe a jota pan wala meakot ni a pan mela, o a linan jota pan idauenla i.
for when he dies he will carry nothing away. His glory won’t descend after him.
18 A kin injenemau kila peren en maur kajelel wet, o aramaj kin kapina ir, me kin apapwali pein ir eta ni maur et.
Though while he lived he blessed his soul— and men praise you when you do well for yourself—
19 A pan idauen la jam a kan, ap jolar kilan marain kokolata.
he shall go to the generation of his fathers. They shall never see the light.
20 Ari, ma aramaj amen indand mau, ap jota a lamalam, a pan kokowei dueta man amen.
A man who has riches without understanding, is like the animals that perish.
