دوم پادشاهان 13

1 در سال بیست و سوم سلطنت یوآش، پادشاه یهودا، یهواخاز پسر ییهو، پادشاه اسرائیل شد و هفده سال در سامره سلطنت کرد.

In the three and twentieth yeere of Ioash the sonne of Ahaziah King of Iudah, Iehoahaz the sonne of Iehu began to reigne ouer Israel in Samaria, and he reigned seuenteene yeere.

2 او نیز مانند یرُبعام پسر نِباط نسبت به خداوند گناه ورزید و اسرائیل را به گناه کشاند و از کارهای زشت خود دست برنداشت.

And he did euil in the sight of the Lord, and followed the sinnes of Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat, which made Israel to sinne, and departed not therefrom.

3 از این رو خداوند بر اسرائیل خشمگین شد و به حزائیل، پادشاه سوریه و بنهدد، پسر حزائیل اجازه داد آنها را سرکوب کنند.

And the Lord was angry with Israel, and deliuered them into the hand of Hazael King of Aram, and into the hand of Ben-hadad the sonne of Hazael, all his dayes.

4 ولی یهواخاز نزد خداوند دعا کرده، کمک طلبید و خداوند دعای او را مستجاب فرمود، زیرا دید که پادشاه سوریه اسرائیل را به ستوه آورده است.

And Iehoahaz besought the Lord, and the Lord heard him: for he saw the trouble of Israel, wherewith the King of Aram troubled them.

5 پس خداوند برای قوم اسرائیل رهبری فرستاد تا آنها را از ظلم و ستم سوری‌ها نجات دهد. در نتیجه قوم اسرائیل مثل گذشته از آسایش برخوردار شدند.

(And the Lord gaue Israel a deliuerer, so that they came out from vnder the subiection of the Aramites. And the children of Israel dwelt in their tents as before time.

6 اما باز از گناهانی که یربعام بنی‌اسرائیل را به آنها آلوده کرده بود، دست برنداشتند و بت اشیره را در سامره عبادت کردند.

Neuerthelesse they departed not from the sinnes of the house of Ieroboam which made Israel sinne, but walked in them. euen the groue also remayned still in Samaria)

7 برای یهواخاز، از تمام سپاهش، فقط پنجاه سرباز سواره، ده ارابهٔ جنگی و ده هزار سرباز پیاده ماند؛ زیرا پادشاه سوریه بقیه را به کلی در هم کوبیده، از بین برده بود.

For he had left of the people to Iehoahaz but fiftie horsemen, and tenne charets, and tenne thousand footemen, because the King of Aram had destroyed them, and made them like dust beaten to pouder.

8 شرح بقیهٔ رویدادهای دوران سلطنت یهواخاز، کارها و فتوحات او در کتاب «تاریخ پادشاهان اسرائیل» ثبت گردیده است.

Concerning the rest of the actes of Iehoahaz and all that he did, and his valiant deedes, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

9 یهواخاز مرد و در سامره دفن شد و پسرش یهوآش به جای او پادشاه شد.

And Iehoahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in Samaria, and Ioash his sonne reigned in his steade.

10 در سی و هفتمین سال سلطنت یوآش، پادشاه یهودا، یِهوآش، پسر یِهواخاز پادشاه اسرائیل شد و شانزده سال در سامره سلطنت کرد.

In the seuen and thirtieth yere of Ioash King of Iudah began Iehoash the sonne of Iehoahaz to reigne ouer Israel in Samaria, and reigned sixteene yeere,

11 او نیز مانند یربعام پسر نِباط نسبت به خداوند گناه ورزیده، اسرائیل را به گناه کشاند و از کارهای زشت خود دست برنداشت.

And did euil in the sight of the Lord: for he departed not from all the sinnes of Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat that made Israel to sinne, but he walked therein.

12 شرح بقیهٔ رویدادهای دوران سلطنت یهوآش، جنگهای او با اَمَصیا، پادشاه یهودا، کارها و فتوحات او در کتاب «تاریخ پادشاهان اسرائیل» نوشته شده است.

Concerning the rest of the actes of Ioash and all that he did, and his valiant deedes, and how he fought against Amaziah King of Iudah, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

13 یهوآش مرد و در آرامگاه سلطنتی سامره دفن شد و یربعام دوم به سلطنت رسید.

And Ioash slept with his fathers, and Ieroboam sate vpon his seate: and Ioash was buryed in Samaria among the Kings of Israel.

14 الیشع نبی بیمار شد و در بستر افتاد. وقتی آخرین روزهای عمر خود را می‌گذرانید، یهوآش پادشاه به عیادتش رفت و با گریه به او گفت: «ای پدرم! ای پدرم! ارابه‌ها و سواران اسرائیل را می‌بینم!»

When Elisha fell sicke of his sickenesse whereof he dyed, Ioash the King of Israel came downe vnto him, and wept vpon his face, and sayd, O my father, my father, the charet of Israel, and the horsemen of the same.

15 الیشع به او گفت: «یک کمان و چند تیر به اینجا بیاور.» او تیرها و کمان را آورد.

Then Elisha sayde vnto him, Take a bowe and arrowes. And he tooke vnto him bowe and arrowes.

16 الیشع گفت: «آن پنجره را که به سمت سوریه است، باز کن.» پادشاه پنجره را باز کرد. آنگاه الیشع به پادشاه گفت: «کمان را به دست بگیر.» وقتی پادشاه کمان را گرفت، الیشع دست خود را روی دست پادشاه گذاشت و دستور داد که تیر را بیندازد. پادشاه تیر را رها کرد. سپس الیشع به پادشاه گفت: «این تیر خداوند است که بر سوریه پیروز می‌شود، چون تو سپاه سوریه را در افیق شکست خواهی داد.

And he sayde to the King of Israel, Put thine hand vpon the bowe. And he put his hand vpon it. And Elisha put his hands vpon the Kings hands,

And saide, Open the windowe Eastward. And when he had opened it, Elisha said, Shoote. And he shot. And he sayd, Beholde the arrowe of the Lordes deliuerance and the arrowe of deliuerance against Aram: for thou shalt smite the Aramites in Aphek, till thou hast consumed them.

18 حال تیرهای دیگر را بگیر و آنها را بر زمین بزن.» پادشاه تیرها را برداشت و سه بار بر زمین زد.

Againe he said, Take the arrowes. And he tooke them. And he sayde vnto the King of Israel, Smite the ground. And he smote thrise, and ceased.

19 اما نبی خشمگین شد و گفت: «تو می‌بایست پنج یا شش بار بر زمین می‌زدی، چون در آن صورت می‌توانستی سوریه را به کلی نابود کنی، ولی حالا فقط سه بار بر آنها پیروز خواهی شد.»

Then the man of God was angry with him, and sayde, Thou shouldest haue smitten fiue or sixe times, so thou shouldest haue smitten Aram, till thou haddest consumed it, where nowe thou shalt smite Aram but thrise.

20 الیشع مرد و او را دفن کردند. در آن روزگار، مهاجمین موآبی بهار هر سال به اسرائیل هجوم می‌بردند.

So Elisha dyed, and they buryed him. And certaine bandes of the Moabites came into the land that yeere.

21 یک روز در حین تشییع جنازه‌ای، مردم سوگوار با این مهاجمین روبرو شده، از ترس جنازه را به داخل قبر الیشع انداختند و پا به فرار گذاشتند. شخص مرده به محض اینکه به استخوانهای الیشع برخورد، زنده شد و سر پا ایستاد.

And as they were burying a man, behold, they saw the souldiers: therfore they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha. And when the man was downe, and touched the bones of Elisha, he reuiued and stoode vpon his feete.

22 در دورهٔ سلطنت یهواخاز، حزائیل (پادشاه سوریه) اسرائیل را سخت مورد تاخت و تاز قرار می‌داد،

But Hazael King of Aram vexed Israel all the dayes of Iehoahaz.

23 ولی خداوند به خاطر عهدی که با ابراهیم و اسحاق و یعقوب بسته بود نسبت به قوم اسرائیل بسیار بخشنده و رحیم بود و اجازه نمی‌داد آنها از بین بروند. او تا به امروز نیز به خاطر آن عهد به ایشان رحم می‌کند.

Therefore the Lord had mercy on them and pitied them, and had respect vnto them because of his couenant with Abraham, Izhak, and Iaakob, and would not destroy them, neither cast he them from him as yet.

24 پس از آنکه حزائیل پادشاه سوریه مرد، پسرش بنهدد به جایش به سلطنت رسید.

So Hazael the King of Aram dyed: and Ben-hadad his sonne reigned in his stead.

25 یهوآش، پادشاه اسرائیل (پسر یهواخاز) سه بار بنهدد را شکست داد و شهرهایی را که در زمان پدرش به دست حزائیل افتاده بود، پس گرفت.

Therefore Iehoash the sonne of Iehoahaz returned, and tooke out of the hand of Ben-hadad the sonne of Hazael the cities which he had taken away by warre out of the hand of Iehoahaz his father: for three times did Ioash beate him, and restored the cities vnto Israel.
