۱ 1 برای سالار مغنیان. مزمور بنی قورح ای تمامی قوم‌ها این را بشنوید! ای جمیع سکنه ربع مسکون این را گوش گیرید!

To victorie, a salm to the sones of Chore. Alle ye folkis, here these thingis; alle ye that dwellen in the world, perseyue with eeris.

۲ 2 ‌ای عوام و خواص! ای دولتمندان وفقیران جمیع!

Alle the sones of erthe and the sones of men; togidere the riche man and the pore in to oon.

۳ 3 زبانم به حکمت سخن می‌راند وتفکر دل من فطانت است.

Mi mouth schal speke wisdom; and the thenkyng of myn herte schal speke prudence.

۴ 4 گوش خود را به مثلی فرا می‌گیرم. معمای خویش را بر بربط می‌گشایم.

I schal bouwe doun myn eere in to a parable; Y schal opene my resoun set forth in a sautree.

۵ 5 چرا در روزهای بلا ترسان باشم، چون گناه پاشنه هایم مرا احاطه می‌کند؛

Whi schal Y drede in the yuel dai? the wickidnesse of myn heele schal cumpasse me.

۶ 6 آنانی که بر دولت خود اعتماد دارند و بر کثرت توانگری خویش فخر می‌نمایند.

Whiche tristen in her owne vertu; and han glorie in the multitude of her richessis.

۷ 7 هیچ‌کس هرگز برای برادر خودفدیه نخواهد داد و کفاره او را به خدا نخواهد بخشید.

A brother ayenbieth not, schal a man ayenbie? and he schal not yyue to God his plesyng.

۸ 8 زیرا فدیه جان ایشان گران بهاست و ابد بدان نمی توان رسید

And he schal not yyue the prijs of raunsum of his soule; and he schal trauele with outen ende,

۹ 9 تا زنده بماند تا ابدالاباد وفساد را نبیند.

and he schal lyue yit in to the ende.

۱۰ 10 زیرا می‌بیند که حکیمان می‌میرند. و جاهلان و ابلهان با هم هلاک می‌گردند و دولت خود را برای دیگران ترک می‌کنند.

He schal not se perischyng, whanne he schal se wise men diynge; the vnwise man and fool schulen perische togidere. And thei schulen leeue her richessis to aliens;

۱۱ 11 فکر دل ایشان این است که خانه های ایشان دائمی باشد و مسکنهای ایشان دوربه دور؛ و نامهای خود را بر زمینهای خود می‌نهند.

and the sepulcris of hem ben the housis of hem with outen ende. The tabernaclis of hem ben in generacioun and generacioun; thei clepiden her names in her londis.

۱۲ 12 لیکن انسان در حرمت باقی نمی ماند، بلکه مثل بهایم است که هلاک می‌شود.

A man, whanne he was in honour, vndurstood not; he is comparisound to vnwise beestis, and he is maad lijk to tho.

۱۳ 13 این طریقه ایشان، جهالت ایشان است و اعقاب ایشان سخن ایشان را می‌پسندند، سلاه.

This weie of hem is sclaundir to hem; and aftirward thei schulen plese togidere in her mouth.

۱۴ 14 مثل گوسفندان درهاویه رانده می‌شوند و موت ایشان را شبانی می‌کند و صبحگاهان راستان بر ایشان حکومت خواهند کرد و جمال ایشان در هاویه پوسیده خواهد شد تا مسکنی برای آن نباشد. (Sheol h7585)

As scheep thei ben set in helle; deth schal gnawe hem. And iust men schulen be lordis of hem in the morewtid; and the helpe of hem schal wexe eld in helle, for the glorie of hem. (Sheol h7585)

۱۵ 15 لیکن خدا جان مرا از دست هاویه نجات خواهد دادزیرا که مرا خواهد گرفت، سلاه. (Sheol h7585)

Netheles God schal ayenbie my soule from the power of helle; whanne he schal take me. (Sheol h7585)

۱۶ 16 پس ترسان مباش، چون کسی دولتمندگردد و جلال خانه او افزوده شود!

Drede thou not, whanne a man is maad riche; and the glorie of his hows is multiplied.

۱۷ 17 زیرا چون بمیرد چیزی از آن نخواهد برد و جلالش در عقب او فرو نخواهد رفت.

For whanne he schal die, he schal not take alle thingis; and his glorie schal not go doun with him.

۱۸ 18 زیرا در حیات خود، خویشتن را مبارک می‌خواند. و چون بر خوداحسان می‌کنی، مردم ترا می‌ستایند.

For his soule schal be blessid in his lijf; he schal knouleche to thee, whanne thou hast do wel to hym.

۱۹ 19 لیکن به طبقه پدران خود خواهد پیوست که نور را تا به ابدنخواهند دید.

He schal entre til in to the generaciouns of hise fadris; and til in to with outen ende he schal not se liyt.

۲۰ 20 انسانی که در حرمت است وفهم ندارد، مثل بهایم است که هلاک می‌شود.
