امثال 3

۱ 1 ای پسر من، تعلیم مرا فراموش مکن و دل تو اوامر مرا نگاه دارد،

My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:

۲ 2 زیرا که طول ایام وسالهای حیات و سلامتی را برای تو خواهدافزود.

For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.

۳ 3 زنهار که رحمت و راستی تو را ترک نکند. آنها را بر گردن خود ببند و بر لوح دل خودمرقوم دار.

Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:

۴ 4 آنگاه نعمت و رضامندی نیکو، درنظر خدا و انسان خواهی یافت.

So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.

۵ 5 به تمامی دل خود بر خداوند توکل نما و بر عقل خود تکیه مکن.

Trust in Yhwh with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

۶ 6 در همه راههای خود او را بشناس، و اوطریقهایت را راست خواهد گردانید.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

۷ 7 خویشتن را حکیم مپندار، از خداوند بترس و از بدی اجتناب نما.

Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear Yhwh, and depart from evil.

۸ 8 این برای ناف تو شفا، وبرای استخوانهایت مغز خواهد بود.

It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

۹ 9 از مایملک خود خداوند را تکریم نما و از نوبرهای همه محصول خویش.

Honour Yhwh with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:

۱۰ 10 آنگاه انبارهای تو به وفورنعمت پر خواهد شد، و چرخشتهای تو از شیره انگور لبریز خواهد گشت.

So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

۱۱ 11 ‌ای پسر من، تادیب خداوند را خوار مشمار، و توبیخ او را مکروه مدار.

My son, despise not the chastening of Yhwh; neither be weary of his correction:

۱۲ 12 زیرا خداوند هر‌که را دوست داردتادیب می‌نماید، مثل پدر پسر خویش را که از اومسرور می‌باشد.

For whom Yhwh loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

۱۳ 13 خوشابحال کسی‌که حکمت را پیدا کند، و شخصی که فطانت را تحصیل نماید.

Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.

۱۴ 14 زیرا که تجارت آن از تجارت نقره ومحصولش از طلای خالص نیکوتر است.

For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.

۱۵ 15 ازلعلها گرانبهاتر است و جمیع نفایس تو با آن برابری نتواند کرد.

She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.

۱۶ 16 به‌دست راست وی طول ایام است، و به‌دست چپش دولت و جلال.

Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.

۱۷ 17 طریقهای وی طریقهای شادمانی است و همه راههای وی سلامتی می‌باشد.

Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.

۱۸ 18 به جهت آنانی که او را به‌دست گیرند، درخت حیات‌است وکسی‌که به او متمسک می‌باشد خجسته است.

She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.

۱۹ 19 خداوند به حکمت خود زمین را بنیاد نهاد، و به عقل خویش آسمان را استوار نمود.

Yhwh by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.

۲۰ 20 به علم او لجه‌ها منشق گردید، و افلاک شبنم رامی چکانید.

By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.

۲۱ 21 ‌ای پسر من، این چیزها از نظر تودور نشود. حکمت کامل و تمیز را نگاه دار.

My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:

۲۲ 22 پس برای جان تو حیات، و برای گردنت زینت خواهد بود.

So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.

۲۳ 23 آنگاه در راه خود به امنیت سالک خواهی شد، و پایت نخواهد لغزید.

Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.

۲۴ 24 هنگامی که بخوابی، نخواهی ترسید و چون دراز شوی خوابت شیرین خواهد شد.

When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.

۲۵ 25 از خوف ناگهان نخواهی ترسید، و نه از خرابی شریران چون واقع شود.

Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.

۲۶ 26 زیرا خداوند اعتماد تو خواهد بود و پای تو را از دام حفظ خواهد نمود.

For Yhwh shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

۲۷ 27 احسان را ازاهلش باز مدار، هنگامی که بجا آوردنش در قوت دست توست.

Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.

۲۸ 28 به همسایه خود مگو برو وبازگرد، و فردا به تو خواهم داد، با آنکه نزد توحاضر است.

Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.

۲۹ 29 بر همسایه ات قصد بدی مکن، هنگامی که او نزد تو در امنیت ساکن است.

Devise not evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwelleth securely by thee.

۳۰ 30 باکسی‌که به تو بدی نکرده است، بی‌سبب مخاصمه منما.

Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.

۳۱ 31 بر مرد ظالم حسد مبر وهیچکدام از راههایش را اختیار مکن.

Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways.

۳۲ 32 زیراکج خلقان نزد خداوند مکروهند، لیکن سر او نزدراستان است،

For the perverse is abomination to Yhwh: but his secret counsel is with the righteous.

۳۳ 33 لعنت خداوند بر خانه شریران است. اما مسکن عادلان را برکت می‌دهد.

The curse of Yhwh is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just.

۳۴ 34 یقین که مستهزئین را استهزا می‌نماید، اما متواضعان رافیض می‌بخشد.

Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.

۳۵ 35 حکیمان وارث جلال خواهند شد، اما احمقان خجالت را خواهند برد.

The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.
