امثال 16
| تدبیرهای دل از آن انسان است، اماتنطق زبان از جانب خداوند می‌باشد. | ۱ 1 |
The plans of the heart belong to man; But the answer of the tongue is from Jehovah.
| همه راههای انسان در نظر خودش پاک است، اما خداوند روحها را ثابت می‌سازد. | ۲ 2 |
All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; But Jehovah weigheth the spirits.
| اعمال خود را به خداوند تفویض کن، تافکرهای تو استوار شود. | ۳ 3 |
Commit thy works unto Jehovah, And thy purposes shall be established.
| خداوند هر چیز را برای غایت آن ساخته است، و شریران را نیز برای روز بلا. | ۴ 4 |
Jehovah hath made everything for its own end; Yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
| هر‌که دل مغرور دارد نزد خداوند مکروه است، و او هرگز مبرا نخواهد شد. | ۵ 5 |
Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to Jehovah: [Though] hand [join] in hand, he shall not be unpunished.
| از رحمت و راستی، گناه کفاره می‌شود، و به ترس خداوند، از بدی اجتناب می‌شود. | ۶ 6 |
By mercy and truth iniquity is atoned for; And by the fear of Jehovah men depart from evil.
| چون راههای شخص پسندیده خداوندباشد، دشمنانش را نیز با وی به مصالحه می‌آورد. | ۷ 7 |
When a man’s ways please Jehovah, He maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.
| اموال اندک که با انصاف باشد بهتر است، ازدخل فراوان بدون انصاف. | ۸ 8 |
Better is a little, with righteousness, Than great revenues with injustice.
| دل انسان در طریقش تفکر می‌کند، اماخداوند قدمهایش را استوار می‌سازد. | ۹ 9 |
A man’s heart deviseth his way; But Jehovah directeth his steps.
| وحی بر لبهای پادشاه است، و دهان او درداوری تجاوز نمی نماید. | ۱۰ 10 |
A divine sentence is in the lips of the king; His mouth shall not transgress in judgment.
| ترازو و سنگهای راست از آن خداونداست و تمامی سنگهای کیسه صنعت وی می‌باشد. | ۱۱ 11 |
A just balance and scales are Jehovah’s; All the weights of the bag are his work.
| عمل بد نزد پادشاهان مکروه است، زیرا که کرسی ایشان از عدالت برقرار می‌ماند. | ۱۲ 12 |
It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness; For the throne is established by righteousness.
| لبهای راستگو پسندیده پادشاهان است، وراستگویان را دوست می‌دارند. | ۱۳ 13 |
Righteous lips are the delight of kings; And they love him that speaketh right.
| غضب پادشاهان، رسولان موت است امامرد حکیم آن را فرو می‌نشاند. | ۱۴ 14 |
The wrath of a king is [as] messengers of death; But a wise man will pacify it.
| در نور چهره پادشاه حیات‌است، ورضامندی او مثل ابر نوبهاری است. | ۱۵ 15 |
In the light of the king’s countenance is life; And his favor is as a cloud of the latter rain.
| تحصیل حکمت از زر خالص چه بسیاربهتر است، و تحصیل فهم از نقره برگزیده تر. | ۱۶ 16 |
How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! Yea, to get understanding is rather to be chosen than silver.
| طریق راستان، اجتناب نمودن از بدی است، و هر‌که راه خود را نگاه دارد جان خویش را محافظت می‌نماید. | ۱۷ 17 |
The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: He that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.
| تکبر پیش رو هلاکت است، و دل مغرورپیش رو خرابی. | ۱۸ 18 |
Pride [goeth] before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.
| با تواضع نزد حلیمان بودن بهتر است، ازتقسیم نمودن غنیمت با متکبران. | ۱۹ 19 |
Better it is to be of a lowly spirit with the poor, Than to divide the spoil with the proud.
| هر‌که در کلام تعقل کند سعادتمندی خواهد یافت، و هر‌که به خداوند توکل نمایدخوشابحال او. | ۲۰ 20 |
He that giveth heed unto the word shall find good; And whoso trusteth in Jehovah, happy is he.
| هر‌که دل حکیم دارد فهیم خوانده می‌شود، و شیرینی لبها علم را می‌افزاید. | ۲۱ 21 |
The wise in heart shall be called prudent; And the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.
| عقل برای صاحبش چشمه حیات‌است، اما تادیب احمقان، حماقت است. | ۲۲ 22 |
Understanding is a well-spring of life unto him that hath it; But the correction of fools is [their] folly.
| دل مرد حکیم دهان او را عاقل می‌گرداند، و علم را بر لبهایش می‌افزاید. | ۲۳ 23 |
The heart of the wise instructeth his mouth, And addeth learning to his lips.
| سخنان پسندیده مثل‌شان عسل است، برای جان شیرین است و برای استخوانهاشفادهنده. | ۲۴ 24 |
Pleasant words are [as] a honeycomb, Sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
| راهی هست که در نظر انسان راست است، اما عاقبت آن راه، موت می‌باشد. | ۲۵ 25 |
There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, But the end thereof are the ways of death.
| اشتهای کارگر برایش کار می‌کند، زیرا که دهانش او را بر آن تحریض می‌نماید. | ۲۶ 26 |
The appetite of the laboring man laboreth for him; For his mouth urgeth him [thereto].
| مرد لئیم شرارت را می‌اندیشد، و برلبهایش مثل آتش سوزنده است. | ۲۷ 27 |
A worthless man deviseth mischief; And in his lips there is as a scorching fire.
| مرد دروغگو نزاع می‌پاشد، و نمام دوستان خالص را از همدیگر جدا می‌کند. | ۲۸ 28 |
A perverse man scattereth abroad strife; And a whisperer separateth chief friends.
| مرد ظالم همسایه خود را اغوا می‌نماید، واو را به راه غیر نیکو هدایت می‌کند. | ۲۹ 29 |
A man of violence enticeth his neighbor, And leadeth him in a way that is not good.
| چشمان خود را بر هم می‌زند تا دروغ رااختراع نماید، و لبهایش را می‌خاید و بدی را به انجام می‌رساند. | ۳۰ 30 |
He that shutteth his eyes, [it is] to devise perverse things: He that compresseth his lips bringeth evil to pass.
| سفیدمویی تاج جمال است، هنگامی که درراه عدالت یافت شود. | ۳۱ 31 |
The hoary head is a crown of glory; It shall be found in the way of righteousness.
| کسی‌که دیرغضب باشد از جبار بهتر است، و هر‌که بر روح خود مالک باشد از تسخیرکننده شهر افضل است. | ۳۲ 32 |
He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; And he that ruleth his spirit, than he that taketh a city.
| قرعه در دامن‌انداخته می‌شود، لیکن تمامی حکم آن از خداوند است. | ۳۳ 33 |
The lot is cast into the lap; But the whole disposing thereof is of Jehovah.
