امثال 14
| هر زن حکیم خانه خود را بنا می‌کند، اما زن جاهل آن را با دست خود خراب می‌نماید. | ۱ 1 |
Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.
| کسی‌که به راستی خود سلوک می‌نماید ازخداوند می‌ترسد، اما کسی‌که در طریق خودکج رفتار است او را تحقیر می‌نماید. | ۲ 2 |
He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the LORD: but [he that is] perverse in his ways despiseth him.
| در دهان احمق چوب تکبر است، اما لبهای حکیمان ایشان را محافظت خواهد نمود. | ۳ 3 |
In the mouth of the foolish [is] a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.
| جایی که گاو نیست، آخور پاک است، اما ازقوت گاو، محصول زیاد می‌شود. | ۴ 4 |
Where no oxen [are], the crib [is] clean: but much increase [is] by the strength of the ox.
| شاهد امین دروغ نمی گوید، اما شاهد دروغ به کذب تنطق می‌کند. | ۵ 5 |
A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.
| استهزاکننده حکمت را می‌طلبد و نمی یابد. اما به جهت مرد فهیم علم آسان است. | ۶ 6 |
A scorner seeketh wisdom, and [findeth it] not: but knowledge [is] easy to him that understandeth.
| از حضور مرد احمق دور شو، زیرا لبهای معرفت را در او نخواهی یافت. | ۷ 7 |
Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not [in him] the lips of knowledge.
| حکمت مرد زیرک این است که راه خود رادرک نماید، اما حماقت احمقان فریب است. | ۸ 8 |
The wisdom of the prudent [is] to understand his way: but the folly of fools [is] deceit.
| احمقان به گناه استهزا می‌کنند، اما در میان راستان رضامندی است. | ۹ 9 |
Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous [there is] favor.
| دل شخص تلخی خویشتن را می‌داند، وغریب در خوشی آن مشارکت ندارد. | ۱۰ 10 |
The heart knoweth its own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with its joy.
| خانه شریران منهدم خواهد شد، اما خیمه راستان شکوفه خواهد آورد. | ۱۱ 11 |
The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.
| راهی هست که به نظر آدمی مستقیم می‌نماید، اما عاقبت آن، طرق موت است. | ۱۲ 12 |
There is a way which seemeth right to a man, but the end of it [are] the ways of death.
| هم در لهو و لعب دل غمگین می‌باشد، وعاقبت این خوشی حزن است. | ۱۳ 13 |
Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth [is] heaviness.
| کسی‌که در دل مرتد است از راههای خودسیر می‌شود، و مرد صالح به خود سیر است. | ۱۴ 14 |
The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man [shall be satisfied] from himself.
| مرد جاهل هر سخن را باور می‌کند، اما مردزیرک در رفتار خود تامل می‌نماید. | ۱۵ 15 |
The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going.
| مرد حکیم می‌ترسد و از بدی اجتناب می‌نماید، اما احمق از غرور خود ایمن می‌باشد. | ۱۶ 16 |
A wise [man] feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.
| مرد کج خلق، احمقانه رفتار می‌نماید، و(مردم ) از صاحب سوظن نفرت دارند. | ۱۷ 17 |
[He that is] soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.
| نصیب جاهلان حماقت است، اما معرفت، تاج زیرکان خواهد بود. | ۱۸ 18 |
The simple inherit folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
| بدکاران در حضور نیکان خم می‌شوند، وشریران نزد دروازه های عادلان می‌ایستند. | ۱۹ 19 |
The evil bow before the good; and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
| همسایه فقیر نیز از او نفرت دارد، امادوستان شخص دولتمند بسیارند. | ۲۰ 20 |
The poor is hated even by his own neighbor: but the rich [hath] many friends.
| هرکه همسایه خود را حقیر شمارد گناه می‌ورزد، اما خوشابحال کسی‌که بر فقیران ترحم نماید. | ۲۱ 21 |
He that despiseth his neighbor sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy [is] he.
| آیا صاحبان تدبیر فاسد گمراه نمی شوند، اما برای کسانی که تدبیر نیکو می‌نمایند، رحمت و راستی خواهد بود. | ۲۲ 22 |
Do they not err that devise evil? but mercy and truth [shall be] to them that devise good.
| از هر مشقتی منفعت است، اما کلام لبها به فقر محض می‌انجامد. | ۲۳ 23 |
In all labor there is profit: but the talk of the lips [tendeth] only to penury.
| تاج حکیمان دولت ایشان است، اماحماقت احمقان حماقت محض است. | ۲۴ 24 |
The crown of the wise [is] their riches: [but] the foolishness of fools [is] folly.
| شاهد امین جانها را نجات می‌بخشد، اما هرکه به دروغ تنطق می‌کند فریب محض است. | ۲۵ 25 |
A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful [witness] speaketh lies.
| در ترس خداوند اعتماد قوی است، وفرزندان او را ملجا خواهد بود. | ۲۶ 26 |
In the fear of the LORD [is] strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.
| ترس خداوند چشمه حیات‌است، تا ازدامهای موت اجتناب نمایند. | ۲۷ 27 |
The fear of the LORD [is] a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
| جلال پادشاه از کثرت مخلوق است، وشکستگی سلطان از کمی مردم است. | ۲۸ 28 |
In the multitude of people [is] the king's honor: but in the want of people [is] the destruction of the prince.
| کسی‌که دیرغضب باشد کثیرالفهم است، وکج خلق حماقت را به نصیب خود می‌برد. | ۲۹ 29 |
[He that is] slow to wrath [is] of great understanding: but [he that is] hasty of spirit exalteth folly.
| دل آرام حیات بدن است، اما حسدپوسیدگی استخوانها است. | ۳۰ 30 |
A sound heart [is] the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.
| هرکه بر فقیر ظلم کند آفریننده خود راحقیر می‌شمارد، و هرکه بر مسکین ترحم کند اورا تمجید می‌نماید. | ۳۱ 31 |
He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoreth him hath mercy on the poor.
| شریر از شرارت خود به زیر افکنده می‌شود، اما مرد عادل چون بمیرد اعتماد دارد. | ۳۲ 32 |
The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.
| حکمت در دل مرد فهیم ساکن می‌شود، امادر اندرون جاهلان آشکار می‌گردد. | ۳۳ 33 |
Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but [that which is] in the midst of fools is made known.
| عدالت قوم را رفیع می‌گرداند، اما گناه برای قوم، عار است. | ۳۴ 34 |
Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin [is] a reproach to any people.
| رضامندی پادشاه بر خادم عاقل است، اماغضب او بر پست فطرتان. | ۳۵ 35 |
The king's favor [is] towards a wise servant: but his wrath is [against] him that causeth shame.
