امثال 12
| هر‌که تادیب را دوست می‌دارد معرفت را دوست می‌دارد، اما هر‌که از تنبیه نفرت کند وحشی است. | ۱ 1 |
He that loves instruction loves sense, but he that hates reproofs is a fool.
| مرد نیکو رضامندی خداوند را تحصیل می‌نماید، اما او صاحب تدبیر فاسد را ملزم خواهد ساخت. | ۲ 2 |
He that has found favour with the Lord [is made] better; but a transgressor shall be passed over in silence.
| انسان از بدی استوار نمی شود، اما ریشه عادلان جنبش نخواهد خورد. | ۳ 3 |
A man shall not prosper by wickedness; but the roots of the righteous shall not be taken up.
| زن صالحه تاج شوهر خود می‌باشد، اما زنی که خجل سازد مثل پوسیدگی در استخوانهایش می‌باشد. | ۴ 4 |
A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband; but as a worm in wood, so a bad woman destroys her husband.
| فکرهای عادلان انصاف است، اما تدابیرشریران فریب است. | ۵ 5 |
The thoughts of the righteous [are true] judgments; but ungodly men devise deceits.
| سخنان شریران برای خون در کمین است، اما دهان راستان ایشان را رهایی می‌دهد. | ۶ 6 |
The words of ungodly men are crafty; but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.
| شریران واژگون شده، نیست می‌شوند، اماخانه عادلان برقرار می‌ماند. | ۷ 7 |
When the ungodly is overthrown, he vanishes away; but the houses of the just remain.
| انسان برحسب عقلش ممدوح می‌شود، اماکج دلان خجل خواهند گشت. | ۸ 8 |
The mouth of an understanding [man] is praised by a man; but he that is dull of heart is had in derision.
| کسی‌که حقیر باشد و خادم داشته باشد، بهتراست از کسی‌که خویشتن را برافرازد و محتاج نان باشد. | ۹ 9 |
Better is a man in dishonour serving himself, than one honouring himself and wanting bread.
| مرد عادل برای جان حیوان خود تفکرمی کند، اما رحمتهای شریران ستم کیشی است. | ۱۰ 10 |
A righteous man has pity for the lives of his cattle; but the bowels of the ungodly are unmerciful.
| کسی‌که زمین خود را زرع کند از نان سیرخواهد شد، اما هر‌که اباطیل را پیروی نمایدناقص العقل است. | ۱۱ 11 |
He that tills his own land shall be satisfied with bread; but they that pursue vanities are void of understanding. He that enjoys himself in banquets of wine, shall leave dishonour in his own strong holds.
| مرد شریر به شکار بدکاران طمع می‌ورزد، اما ریشه عادلان میوه می‌آورد. | ۱۲ 12 |
The desires of the ungodly are evil; but the roots of the godly are firmly set.
| در تقصیر لبها دام مهلک است، اما مردعادل از تنگی بیرون می‌آید. | ۱۳ 13 |
For the sin of [his] lips a sinner falls into snare; but a righteous man escapes from them. He whose looks are gentle shall be pitied, but he that contends in the gates will afflict souls.
| انسان از ثمره دهان خود از نیکویی سیرمی شود، و مکافات دست انسان به او رد خواهدشد. | ۱۴ 14 |
The soul of a man shall be filled with good from the fruits of his mouth; and the recompence of his lips shall be given to him.
| راه احمق در نظر خودش راست است، اماهر‌که نصیحت را بشنود حکیم است. | ۱۵ 15 |
The ways of fools are right in their own eyes; but a wise man hearkens to counsels.
| غضب احمق فور آشکار می‌شود، اماخردمند خجالت را می‌پوشاند. | ۱۶ 16 |
A fool declares his wrath the same day; but a prudent man hides his own disgrace.
| هر‌که به راستی تنطق نماید عدالت را ظاهرمی کند، و شاهد دروغ، فریب را. | ۱۷ 17 |
A righteous man declares the open truth; but an unjust witness is deceitful.
| هستند که مثل ضرب شمشیر حرفهای باطل می‌زنند، اما زبان حکیمان شفا می‌بخشد. | ۱۸ 18 |
Some wound as they speak, [like] swords; but the tongues of the wise heal.
| لب راستگو تا به ابد استوار می‌ماند، اما زبان دروغگو طرفه العینی است. | ۱۹ 19 |
True lips establish testimony; but a hasty witness has an unjust tongue.
| در دل هر‌که تدبیر فاسد کند فریب است، اما مشورت دهندگان صلح را شادمانی است. | ۲۰ 20 |
[There is] deceit in the heart of him that imagines evil; but they that love peace shall rejoice.
| هیچ بدی به مرد صالح واقع نمی شود، اماشریران از بلا پر خواهند شد. | ۲۱ 21 |
No injustice will please a just man; but the ungodly will be filled with mischief.
| لبهای دروغگو نزد خداوند مکروه است، اما عاملان راستی پسندیده او هستند. | ۲۲ 22 |
Lying lips are a abomination to the Lord; but he that deals faithfully is accepted with him.
| مرد زیرک علم را مخفی می‌دارد، اما دل احمقان حماقت را شایع می‌سازد. | ۲۳ 23 |
An understanding man is a throne of wisdom; but the heart of fools shall meet with curses.
| دست شخص زرنگ سلطنت خواهدنمود، اما مرد کاهل بندگی خواهد کرد. | ۲۴ 24 |
The hand of chosen men shall easily obtain rule; but the deceitful shall be for a prey.
| کدورت دل انسان، او را منحنی می‌سازد، اما سخن نیکو او را شادمان خواهد گردانید. | ۲۵ 25 |
A terrible word troubles the heart of a righteous man; but a good message rejoices him.
| مرد عادل برای همسایه خود هادی می‌شود، اما راه شریران ایشان را گمراه می‌کند. | ۲۶ 26 |
A just arbitrator shall be his own friend; but mischief shall pursue sinners; and the way of ungodly men shall lead them astray.
| مرد کاهل شکار خود را بریان نمی کند، امازرنگی، توانگری گرانبهای انسان است. | ۲۷ 27 |
A deceitful man shall catch no game; but a blameless man is a precious possession.
| در طریق عدالت حیات‌است، و درگذرگاههایش موت نیست. | ۲۸ 28 |
In the ways of righteousness is life; but the ways of those that remember injuries [lead] to death.
