سوگنامه 5

۱ 1 ای یهوه آنچه بر ما واقع شد به یاد آور وملاحظه فرموده، عار ما را ببین.

Remember, O LORD, what is come upon us: consider, and behold our reproach.

۲ 2 میراث ما از آن غریبان و خانه های ما از آن اجنبیان گردیده است.

Our inheritance is turned to strangers, our houses to aliens.

۳ 3 ما یتیم و بی‌پدر شده‌ایم و مادران ما مثل بیوه‌ها گردیده‌اند.

We are orphans and fatherless, our mothers [are] as widows.

۴ 4 آب خود را به نقره می‌نوشیم و هیزم ما به مافروخته می‌شود.

We have drank our water for money; our wood is sold to us.

۵ 5 تعاقب کنندگان ما به گردن ما رسیده‌اند وخسته شده، راحت نداریم.

Our necks [are] under persecution: we labor, [and] have no rest.

۶ 6 با اهل مصر و آشور دست دادیم تا از نان سیرشویم.

We have given the hand [to] the Egyptians, [and to] the Assyrians, to be satisfied with bread.

۷ 7 پدران ما گناه ورزیده، نابود شده‌اند و مامتحمل عصیان ایشان گردیده‌ایم.

Our fathers have sinned, [and are] not; and we have borne their iniquities.

۸ 8 غلامان بر ما حکمرانی می‌کنند و کسی نیست که از دست ایشان رهایی دهد.

Servants have ruled over us: [there is] none that doth deliver [us] out of their hand.

۹ 9 از ترس شمشیر اهل بیابان، نان خود را بخطرجان خویش می‌یابیم.

We procured our bread with [the peril of] our lives, because of the sword of the wilderness.

۱۰ 10 پوست ما به‌سبب سموم قحط مثل تنورسوخته شده است.

Our skin was black like an oven because of the terrible famine.

۱۱ 11 زنان را در صهیون بی‌عصمت کردند ودوشیزگان را در شهرهای یهودا.

They ravished the women in Zion, [and] the maids in the cities of Judah.

۱۲ 12 سروران از دست ایشان به دار کشیده شده و به مشایخ اعتنا ننمودند.

Princes were hanged by their hand: the faces of elders were not honored.

۱۳ 13 جوانان سنگهای آسیا را برمی دارند وکودکان زیر بار هیزم می‌افتند.

They took the young men to grind, and the children fell under the wood.

۱۴ 14 مشایخ از دروازه‌ها نابود شدند و جوانان ازنغمه سرایی خویش.

The elders have ceased from the gate, the young men from their music.

۱۵ 15 شادی دل ما نیست شد و رقص ما به ماتم مبدل گردید.

The joy of our heart hath ceased; our dance is turned into mourning.

۱۶ 16 تاج از سر ما افتاد، وای بر ما زیرا که گناه کردیم.

The crown is fallen [from] our head: woe to us, that we have sinned!

۱۷ 17 از این جهت دل ما بیتاب شده است و به‌سبب این چیزها چشمان ما تار گردیده است.

For this our heart is faint; for these [things] our eyes are dim.

۱۸ 18 یعنی به‌خاطر کوه صهیون که ویران شد وروباهان در آن گردش می‌کنند.

Because of the mountain of Zion, which is desolate, the foxes walk upon it.

۱۹ 19 اما تو‌ای یهوه تا ابدالاباد جلوس می‌فرمایی و کرسی تو تا جمیع دهرها خواهدبود.

Thou, O LORD, remainest for ever; thy throne from generation to generation.

۲۰ 20 پس برای چه ما را تا به ابد فراموش کرده وما را مدت مدیدی ترک نموده‌ای.

Why dost thou forget us for ever, [and] forsake us so long time?

۲۱ 21 ‌ای یهوه ما را بسوی خود برگردان وبازگشت خواهیم کرد و ایام ما را مثل زمان سلف تازه کن.

Turn thou us to thee, O LORD, and we shall be turned; renew our days as of old.

۲۲ 22 و الا ما را بالکل رد نموده‌ای و بر مابی نهایت غضبناک شده‌ای.

But thou hast utterly rejected us; thou art very wroth against us.
