ایّوب 16

۱ 1 پس ایوب در جواب گفت:

Then Job answered and said,

۲ 2 «بسیارچیزها مثل این شنیدم. تسلی دهندگان مزاحم همه شما هستید.

I have heard many such things: miserable comforters [are] ye all.

۳ 3 آیا سخنان باطل راانتها نخواهد شد؟ و کیست که تو را به جواب دادن تحریک می‌کند؟

Shall vain words have an end? or what emboldeneth thee that thou answerest?

۴ 4 من نیز مثل شمامی توانستم بگویم، اگر جان شما در جای جان من می‌بود، و سخنها به ضد شما ترتیب دهم، و سرخود را بر شما بجنبانم،

I also could speak as ye [do]: if your soul were in my soul's stead, I could heap up words against you, and shake my head at you.

۵ 5 لیکن شما را به دهان خود تقویت می‌دادم و تسلی لبهایم غم شما رارفع می‌نمود.

[But] I would strengthen you with my mouth and the moving of my lips should assuage [your grief].

۶ 6 «اگر من سخن گویم، غم من رفع نمی گردد؛ واگر ساکت شوم مرا چه راحت حاصل می‌شود؟

Though I speak, my grief is not assuaged: and [though] I forbear, what am I eased?

۷ 7 لیکن الان او مرا خسته نموده است. تو تمامی جماعت مرا ویران ساخته‌ای.

But now he hath made me weary: thou hast made desolate all my company.

۸ 8 مرا سخت گرفتی و این بر من شاهد شده است. و لاغری من به ضدمن برخاسته، روبرویم شهادت می‌دهد.

And thou hast filled me with wrinkles, [which] is a witness [against me]: and my leanness rising up in me beareth witness to my face.

۹ 9 در غضب خود مرا دریده و بر من جفا نموده است. دندانهایش را بر من افشرده و مثل دشمنم چشمان خود را بر من تیز کرده است.

He teareth [me] in his wrath, who hateth me: he gnasheth upon me with his teeth; my enemy sharpeneth his eyes upon me.

۱۰ 10 دهان خود را بر من گشوده‌اند، بر رخسار من به استحقارزده‌اند، به ضد من با هم اجتماع نموده‌اند.

They have gaped upon me with their mouth; they have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully; they have gathered themselves against me.

۱۱ 11 خدامرا به‌دست ظالمان تسلیم نموده، و مرا به‌دست شریران افکنده است.

God hath delivered me to the ungodly, and turned me over into the hands of the wicked.

۱۲ 12 چون در راحت بودم مراپاره پاره کرده است، و گردن مرا گرفته، مرا خردکرده، و مرا برای هدف خود نصب نموده است.

I was at ease, but he hath broken me asunder: he hath also taken [me] by my neck, and shaken me to pieces, and set me up for his mark.

۱۳ 13 تیرهایش مرا احاطه کرد. گرده هایم را پاره می‌کند و شفقت نمی نماید. و زهره مرا به زمین می‌ریزد.

His archers encompass me; he cleaveth my reins asunder, and doth not spare; he poureth out my gall upon the ground.

۱۴ 14 مرا زخم بر زخم، مجروح می‌سازد ومثل جبار، بر من حمله می‌آورد.

He breaketh me with breach upon breach, he runneth upon me like a giant.

۱۵ 15 بر پوست خود پلاس دوخته‌ام، و شاخ خود را در خاک خوار نموده‌ام.

I have sewed sackcloth upon my skin, and defiled my horn in the dust.

۱۶ 16 روی من از گریستن سرخ شده است، و بر مژگانم سایه موت است.

My face is foul with weeping, and on my eyelids [are] the shades of death;

۱۷ 17 اگر‌چه هیچ بی‌انصافی در دست من نیست، و دعای من پاک است.

Not for [any] injustice in my hands: also my prayer [is] pure.

۱۸ 18 ‌ای زمین خون مرا مپوشان، واستغاثه مرا آرام نباشد.

O earth, cover not thou my blood, and let my cry have no place.

۱۹ 19 اینک الان نیز شاهد من در آسمان است، و گواه من در اعلی علیین.

Also now, behold, my witness [is] in heaven, and my record [is] on high.

۲۰ 20 دوستانم مرا استهزا می‌کنند، لیکن چشمانم نزد خدا اشک می‌ریزد.

My friends scorn me: [but] my eye poureth out [tears] to God.

۲۱ 21 و آیا برای انسان نزدخدا محاجه می‌کند، مثل بنی آدم که برای همسایه خود می‌نماید؟

O that one might plead for a man with God, as a man [pleadeth] for his neighbor!

۲۲ 22 زیرا سالهای اندک سپری می‌شود، پس به راهی که برنمی گردم، خواهم رفت.

When a few years are come, then I shall go the way [whence] I shall not return.
