ارمیا 10

۱ 1 ای خاندان اسرائیل کلامی را که خداوند به شما می‌گوید بشنوید!

Hear ye the word which Yahweh hath spoken unto you, O house of Israel: —

۲ 2 خداوند چنین می‌گوید: «طریق امت‌ها را یادمگیرید و از علامات افلاک مترسید زیرا که امت‌ها از آنها می‌ترسند.

Thus, saith Yahweh—Unto the way of the nations, become not ye accustomed, Nor at the signs of the heavens, be ye dismayed, —Because the nations are dismayed at them.

۳ 3 چونکه رسوم قومهاباطل است که ایشان درختی از جنگل با تبرمی برند که صنعت دستهای نجار می‌باشد.

For as for the prescribed customs of the peoples, vanity, they are, —For a tree out of the forest, one cutteth down, Work for the hands of a skilled workman with the axe:

۴ 4 و آن را به نقره و طلا زینت داده، با میخ و چکش محکم می‌کنند تا متحرک نشود.

With silver and with gold, he decketh it, —With nails and with hammers, they fasten them, that it may not totter.

۵ 5 و آنها مثل مترس دربوستان خیار می‌باشند که سخن نمی توانند گفت وآنها را می‌باید برداشت چونکه راه نمی توانندرفت. از آنها مترسید زیرا که ضرر نتوانند رسانیدو قوت نفع رسانیدن هم ندارند.»

Mere palm-trunks turned, they are and cannot speak, They must needs be, carried, for they cannot take a step, Be not afraid of them, for they cannot do harm, And even to do good, is not in their power.

۶ 6 ‌ای یهوه مثل تو کسی نیست! تو عظیم هستی و اسم تو در قوت عظیم است!

None, there is, like unto thee, O Yahweh, —Great, art, thou, And, great, is thy Name, for might.

۷ 7 ‌ای پادشاه امت هاکیست که از تو نترسد زیرا که این به تو می‌شایدچونکه در جمیع حکیمان امت‌ها و در تمامی ممالک ایشان مانند تو کسی نیست.

Who would not revere thee, O King of nations? For, thee, doth it beseem; Forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations And throughout all their royal estate, None, there is like unto thee.

۸ 8 جمیع ایشان وحشی و احمق می‌باشند تادیب اباطیل چوب (بت ) است.

But at once, do they become brutish and stupid, —An example of utmost vanity, is, a tree!

۹ 9 نقره کوبیده شده از ترشیش و طلا از اوفاز که صنعت صنعتگر و عمل دستهای زرگر باشد می‌آورند. لاجورد و ارغوان لباس آنها و همه اینها عمل حکمت پیشگان است.

Silver spread into plates, from Tarshish is brought, And gold, from Uphaz, Work for the craftsman and for the hands of the smith, —Blue and purple, is their clothing, Work for the skilled, are they all.

۱۰ 10 اما یهوه خدای حق است و او خدای حی و پادشاه سرمدی می‌باشد. از غضب او زمین متزلزل می‌شود و امت‌ها قهر او را متحمل نتوانندشد.

But, Yahweh, is God in truth, He, is a God that, liveth, And a King of times age-abiding, —At his anger, quaketh the earth, And nations cannot endure his wrath.

۱۱ 11 به ایشان چنین بگویید: «خدایانی که آسمان و زمین را نساخته‌اند از روی زمین و از زیرآسمان تلف خواهند شد.»

Thus, shall ye say unto them, The gods that made not the heavens, And the earth, Shall perish out of the earth, And from under these heavens!

۱۲ 12 او زمین را به قوت خود ساخت و ربع مسکون را به حکمت خویش استوار نمود وآسمان را به عقل خود گسترانید.

He that made the earth by his power, That established the world by his wisdom, —And by his understanding stretched out the heavens,

۱۳ 13 چون آوازمی دهد غوغای آبها در آسمان پدید می‌آید. ابرها از اقصای زمین برمی آورد و برقها برای باران می‌سازد و باد را از خزانه های خود بیرون می‌آورد.

At the voice that he uttered, there was a tumult of waters in the heavens, And he caused vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth, —The lightnings for rain, he made, And brought forth wind out of his treasuries.

۱۴ 14 جمیع مردمان وحشی‌اند و معرفت ندارند و هر‌که تمثالی می‌سازد خجل خواهدشد. زیرا که بت ریخته شده او دروغ است و در آن هیچ نفس نیست.

Every son of earth hath become too brutish to discern, Every goldsmith, hath been put to shame by a graven image, —For a falsehood, is his molten image, Seeing there is no breath in them.

۱۵ 15 آنها باطل و کار مسخرگی می‌باشد در روزی که به محاکمه می‌آیند تلف خواهند شد.

Vanity, they are, the handiwork of mockeries, —In the time of their visitation, shall they perish.

۱۶ 16 او که نصیب یعقوب است مثل آنها نمی باشد. زیرا که او سازنده همه موجودات است و اسرائیل عصای میراث وی است و اسم اویهوه صبایوت می‌باشد.

Not like these, is the portion of Jacob, For the fashioner of all things, is, he, And, Israel, is his inherited sceptre, —Yahweh of hosts, is his name.

۱۷ 17 ‌ای که در تنگی ساکن هستی، بسته خود رااز زمین بردار!

Fold up, from the ground thy travelling carpet, —O inhabitress of the fortress;

۱۸ 18 زیرا خداوند چنین می‌گوید: «اینک من این مرتبه ساکنان این زمین را از فلاخن خواهم‌انداخت و ایشان را به تنگ خواهم آورد تابفهمند.»

For, thus, saith Yahweh, Behold me! slinging out the inhabitants of the land at this throw, —And I will distress them that they may discover it.

۱۹ 19 وای بر من به‌سبب صدمه من.

Woe to me! for my grievous injury, Severe, is my wound, —But, I, said, Verily, this, is an affliction and I must bear it:

۲۰ 20 خیمه من خراب شد و تمامی طنابهای من گسیخته گردید، پسرانم از من بیرون رفته، نایاب شدند. کسی نیست که خیمه مرا پهن کند و پرده های مرابرپا نماید.

My tent, is laid waste, And all my tent-cords, are broken, —My children, are gone forth from me and they, are not. There is none, To stretch out any more my tent, Or to set up my curtains.

۲۱ 21 زیرا که شبانان وحشی شده‌اند وخداوند را طلب نمی نمایند بنابراین کامیاب نخواهند شد و همه گله های ایشان پراکنده خواهد گردید.

For the shepherds, have become brutish, And Yahweh, have they not sought, —For this cause, have they not prospered, And, all their flock, is scattered.

۲۲ 22 اینک صدای خبری می‌آید واضطراب عظیمی از دیار شمال. تا شهرهای یهودا را ویران و ماوای شغالها سازد.

The noise of a rumour! lo it hath come! Even a great commotion out of the land of the North, —To make the cities of Judah, A desolation, A den of jackals.

۲۳ 23 ‌ای خداوند می‌دانم که طریق انسان از آن اونیست و آدمی که راه می‌رود قادر بر هدایت قدمهای خویش نمی باشد.

I know O Yahweh, That not to a son of earth, pertaineth his own path, —Not, to the man who walketh, also to direct his own steps.

۲۴ 24 ‌ای خداوند مراتادیب نما اما به انصاف و نه به غضب خود مبادامرا ذلیل سازی.

Chastise me, O Yahweh But yet in measure, —Not in thine anger, lest thou make me few.

۲۵ 25 غضب خویش را بر امت هایی که تو را نمی شناسند بریز. و بر قبیله هایی که اسم تو را نمی خوانند، زیرا که ایشان یعقوب راخوردند و او را بلعیده، تباه ساختند و مسکن او راخراب نمودند.

Pour out thy wrath—Upon the nations that know thee not, and Upon the families that, upon thy Name, have not called, —For they have devoured Jacob Yea they have devoured him and consumed him, And, his habitation, have they made desolate.
