اشعیا 9

۱ 1 لیکن برای او که در تنگی می‌بود، تاریکی نخواهد شد. در زمان پیشین زمین زبولون وزمین نفتالی را ذلیل ساخت، اما در زمان آخر آن را به راه دریا به آن طرف اردن در جلیل امت هامحترم خواهد گردانید.

As the former time made light The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, So the latter hath honoured the way of the sea, Beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations.

۲ 2 قومی که در تاریکی سالک می‌بودند، نور عظیمی خواهند دید و بر ساکنان زمین سایه موت نور ساطع خواهد شد.

The people who are walking in darkness Have seen a great light, Dwellers in a land of death-shade, Light hath shone upon them.

۳ 3 تو قوم را بسیار ساخته، شادی ایشان را زیادگردانیدی. به حضور تو شادی خواهند کرد مثل شادمانی وقت درو و مانند کسانی که در تقسیم نمودن غنیمت وجد می‌نمایند.

Thou hast multiplied the nation, Thou hast made great its joy, They have joyed before Thee as the joy in harvest, As [men] rejoice in their apportioning spoil.

۴ 4 زیرا که یوغ باراو را و عصای گردنش یعنی عصای جفا کننده وی را شکستی چنانکه در روز مدیان کردی.

Because the yoke of its burden, And the staff of its shoulder, the rod of its exactor, Thou hast broken as [in] the day of Midian.

۵ 5 زیرا همه اسلحه مسلحان در غوغا است ورخوت ایشان به خون آغشته است اما برای سوختن و هیزم آتش خواهند بود.

For every battle of a warrior [is] with rushing, and raiment rolled in blood, And it hath been for burning — fuel of fire.

۶ 6 زیرا که برای ما ولدی زاییده و پسری به ما بخشیده شد وسلطنت بر دوش او خواهد بود و اسم او عجیب ومشیر و خدای قدیر و پدر سرمدی و سرورسلامتی خوانده خواهد شد.

For a Child hath been born to us, A Son hath been given to us, And the princely power is on his shoulder, And He doth call his name Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Father of Eternity, Prince of Peace.

۷ 7 ترقی سلطنت وسلامتی او را بر کرسی داود و بر مملکت وی انتهانخواهد بود تا آن را به انصاف و عدالت از الان تاابدالاباد ثابت و استوار نماید. غیرت یهوه صبایوت این را بجا خواهد آورد.

To the increase of the princely power, And of peace, there is no end, On the throne of David, and on his kingdom, To establish it, and to support it, In judgment and in righteousness, Henceforth, even unto the age, The zeal of Jehovah of Hosts doth this.

۸ 8 خداوند کلامی نزد یعقوب فرستاد و آن براسرائیل واقع گردید.

A word hath the Lord sent into Jacob, And it hath fallen in Israel.

۹ 9 و تمامی قوم خواهنددانست یعنی افرایم و ساکنان سامره که از غرور وتکبر دل خود می‌گویند.

And the people have known — all of it, Ephraim, and the inhabitant of Samaria, In pride and in greatness of heart, saying,

۱۰ 10 خشتها افتاده است امابا سنگهای تراشیده بنا خواهیم نمود؛ چوبهای افراغ در هم شکست اما سرو آزاد بجای آنهامی گذاریم.

'Bricks have fallen, and hewn work we build, Sycamores have been cut down, and cedars we renew.'

۱۱ 11 بنابراین خداوند دشمنان رصین رابضد او خواهد برافراشت و خصمان او را خواهدبرانگیخت.

And Jehovah setteth the adversaries of Rezin on high above him, And his enemies he joineth together,

۱۲ 12 ارامیان را از مشرق و فلسطینیان رااز مغرب و ایشان اسرائیل را با دهان گشوده خواهند خورد. اما با این همه خشم او برگردانیده نشده و دست او هنوز دراز است.

Aram from before, and Philistia from behind, And they devour Israel with the whole mouth. With all this not turned back hath His anger, And still His hand is stretched out.

۱۳ 13 و این قوم بسوی زننده خودشان بازگشت ننموده و یهوه صبایوت را نطلبیده‌اند.

And the people hath not turned back unto Him who is smiting it, And Jehovah of Hosts they have not sought.

۱۴ 14 بنابراین خداوند سر ودم و نخل و نی را از اسرائیل در یک روز خواهدبرید.

And Jehovah cutteth off from Israel head and tail, Branch and reed — the same day,

۱۵ 15 مرد پیر و مرد شریف سر است و نبی‌ای که تعلیم دروغ می‌دهد، دم می‌باشد.

Elder, and accepted of face, he [is] the head, Prophet, teacher of falsehood, he [is] the tail.

۱۶ 16 زیرا که هادیان این قوم ایشان را گمراه می‌کنند و پیروان ایشان بلعیده می‌شوند.

And the eulogists of this people are causing to err, And its eulogised ones are consumed.

۱۷ 17 از این سبب خداوند از جوانان ایشان مسرور نخواهد شد و بر یتیمان و بیوه‌زنان ایشان ترحم نخواهد نمود. چونکه جمیع ایشان منافق وشریرند و هر دهانی به حماقت متکلم می‌شود بااینهمه غضب او برگردانیده نشده و دست او هنوزدراز است.

Therefore, over its young men the Lord rejoiceth not, And its orphans, and its widows He pitieth not, For every one [is] profane, and an evil doer, And every mouth is speaking folly. With all this not turned back hath His anger, And still His hand is stretched out.

۱۸ 18 زیرا که شرارت مثل آتش می‌سوزاند و خار و خس را می‌خورد، و دربوته های جنگل افروخته شده، دود غلیظ پیچان می‌شود.

For burned as a fire hath wickedness, Brier and thorn it devoureth, And it kindleth in thickets of the forest, And they lift themselves up, an exaltation of smoke!

۱۹ 19 از غضب یهوه صبایوت زمین سوخته شده است و قوم هیزم آتش گشته‌اند و کسی بربرادر خود شفقت ندارد.

In the wrath of Jehovah of Hosts Hath the land been consumed, And the people is as fuel of fire; A man on his brother hath no pity,

۲۰ 20 از جانب راست می‌ربایند و گرسنه می‌مانند و از طرف چپ می‌خورند و سیر نمی شوند و هرکس گوشت بازوی خود را می‌خورد.

And cutteth down on the right, and hath been hungry, And he devoureth on the left, And they have not been satisfied, Each the flesh of his own arm they devour.

۲۱ 21 منسی افرایم را وافرایم منسی را و هر دوی ایشان بضد یهودا متحدمی شوند. با اینهمه غضب او برگردانیده نشده ودست او هنوز دراز است.

Manasseh — Ephraim, and Ephraim — Manasseh, Together they [are] against Judah, With all this not turned back hath His anger. And still His hand is stretched out!
