اشعیا 64

۱ 1 کاش که آسمانها را منشق ساخته، نازل می شدی و کوهها از رویت تو متزلزل می‌گشت.

Oh, that Thou wouldest rend the heavens, that Thou wouldest come down, that the mountains might quake at Thy presence,

۲ 2 مثل آتشی که خورده چوبها رامشتعل سازد و ناری که آب را به جوش آورد تانام خود را بر دشمنانت معروف سازی و امت‌ها ازرویت تو لرزان گردند.

As when fire kindleth the brush-wood, and the fire causeth the waters to boil; to make Thy name known to Thine adversaries, that the nations might tremble at Thy presence,

۳ 3 حینی که کارهای هولناک را که منتظر آنها نبودیم بجا آوردی. آنگاه نزول فرمودی و کوهها از رویت تو متزلزل گردید.

When Thou didst tremendous things which we looked not for — Oh that Thou wouldest come down, that the mountains might quake at Thy presence! —

۴ 4 زیرا که از ایام قدیم نشنیدند و استماع ننمودند و چشم خدایی را غیر از تو که برای منتظران خویش بپردازد ندید.

And whereof from of old men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen a God beside Thee, who worketh for him that waiteth for Him.

۵ 5 تو آنانی را که شادمانند و عدالت را بجا می‌آورند و به راههای تو تو را به یاد می‌آورند ملاقات می‌کنی. اینک توغضبناک شدی و ما گناه کرده‌ایم در اینها مدت مدیدی بسر بردیم و آیا نجات توانیم یافت؟

Thou didst take away him that joyfully worked righteousness, those that remembered Thee in Thy ways — behold, Thou wast wroth, and we sinned — upon them have we stayed of old, that we might be saved.

۶ 6 زیرا که جمیع ما مثل شخص نجس شده‌ایم وهمه اعمال عادله ما مانند لته ملوث می‌باشد. وهمگی ما مثل برگ، پژمرده شده، گناهان ما مثل باد، ما را می‌رباید.

And we are all become as one that is unclean, and all our righteousnesses are as a polluted garment; and we all do fade as a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.

۷ 7 و کسی نیست که اسم تو رابخواند یا خویشتن را برانگیزاند تا به تو متمسک شود زیرا که روی خود را از ما پوشیده‌ای و ما رابه‌سبب گناهان ما گداخته‌ای.

And there is none that calleth upon Thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of Thee; for Thou hast hid Thy face from us, and hast consumed us by means of our iniquities.

۸ 8 اما الان‌ای خداوند، تو پدر ما هستی. ما گل هستیم و تو صانع ما هستی و جمیع ما مصنوع دستهای تو می‌باشیم.

But now, O LORD, Thou art our Father; we are the clay, and Thou our potter, and we all are the work of Thy hand.

۹ 9 ‌ای خداوند بشدت غضبناک مباش و گناه را تا به ابد بخاطر مدار. هان ملاحظه نما که همگی ما قوم تو هستیم.

Be not wroth very sore, O LORD, neither remember iniquity for ever; behold, look, we beseech Thee, we are all Thy people.

۱۰ 10 شهرهای مقدس تو بیابان شده. صهیون، بیابان و اورشلیم، ویرانه گردیده است.

Thy holy cities are become a wilderness, Zion is become a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation.

۱۱ 11 خانه مقدس و زیبای ما که پدران ما تو را در آن تسبیح می خواندند به آتش سوخته شده و تمامی نفایس ما به خرابی مبدل گردیده است.

Our holy and our beautiful house, where our fathers praised Thee, is burned with fire; and all our pleasant things are laid waste.

۱۲ 12 ‌ای خداوندآیا با وجود این همه، خودداری می‌کنی وخاموش شده، ما را بشدت رنجور می‌سازی؟

Wilt Thou refrain Thyself for these things, O LORD? Wilt Thou hold Thy peace, and afflict us very sore?
