اشعیا 42

۱ 1 اینک بنده من که او را دستگیری نمودم و برگزیده من که جانم از او خشنوداست، من روح خود را بر او می‌نهم تا انصاف رابرای امت‌ها صادر سازد.

Lo! my Servant, I will uphold him, My chosen, well-pleased is my soul, —I have put my spirit upon him, Justice—to the nations, will he bring forth:

۲ 2 او فریاد نخواهد زد وآواز خود را بلند نخواهد نمود و آن را درکوچه‌ها نخواهد شنوانید.

He will not cry out nor will he speak loud, —Nor cause to be heard, in the street, his voice:

۳ 3 نی خرد شده رانخواهد شکست و فتیله ضعیف را خاموش نخواهد ساخت تا عدالت را به راستی صادرگرداند.

Cane that is crushed, will he not break, And wick that is fading, will he not quench, —Faithfully, will he bring forth justice:

۴ 4 او ضعیف نخواهد گردید و منکسرنخواهد شد تا انصاف را بر زمین قرار دهد وجزیره‌ها منتظر شریعت او باشند.

He will not fade, nor will he be crushed, Until he establish, in the earth, justice, And for his instruction, Coastlands, wait.

۵ 5 خدا یهوه که آسمانها را آفرید و آنها را پهن کرد و زمین و نتایج آن را گسترانید و نفس را به قومی که در آن باشندو روح را بر آنانی که در آن سالکند می‌دهد چنین می‌گوید:

Thus, saith GOD himself—Yahweh, —Creator of the heavens that stretched them forth, Out-spreader of earth, and the products thereof, —Giver of breath to the people thereon, And of spirit to them who walk therein,

۶ 6 «من که یهوه هستم تو را به عدالت خوانده‌ام و دست تو را گرفته، تو را نگاه خواهم داشت و تو را عهد قوم و نور امت‌ها خواهم گردانید.

I—Yahweh, have called thee in righteousness, And will firmly grasp thy hand, —And will keep thee And give thee—As the covenant of a people, As the light of nations:

۷ 7 تا چشمان کوران را بگشایی و اسیران را از زندان و نشینندگان در ظلمت را از محبس بیرون آوری.

To open eyes that are blind, —To bring forth Out of the dungeon the captive Out of the prison, the dwellers in darkness.

۸ 8 من یهوه هستم و اسم من همین است. و جلال خود را به کسی دیگر و ستایش خویش را به بتهای تراشیده نخواهم داد.

I, am Yahweh, that, is my Name, And, my glory, to another, will I not give, Nor my praise to images.

۹ 9 اینک وقایع نخستین واقع شد و من از چیزهای نو اعلام می‌کنم و قبل از آنکه بوجود آید شما را از آنهاخبر می‌دهم.»

Things told in advance, lo! they have come to pass, —And new things, am I telling, Ere yet they spring forth, I let, you, hear them.

۱۰ 10 ‌ای شما که به دریا فرود می‌روید و ای آنچه در آن است! ای جزیره‌ها و ساکنان آنهاسرود نو را به خداوند و ستایش وی را از اقصای زمین بسرایید!

Sing to Yahweh, a song that is new, His praise, from the end of the earth, —Ye that go down to the sea, and the fulness thereof, The Coastlands and ye who dwell therein.

۱۱ 11 صحرا و شهرهایش وقریه هایی که اهل قیدار در آنها ساکن باشند آوازخود را بلند نمایند و ساکنان سالع ترنم نموده، ازقله کوهها نعره زنند!

Let the wilderness shout, and the cities thereof, The villages wherein dwelleth Kedar, —Let the inhabitants of the crag, raise shouts of triumph, From the top of the mountains, let them cry aloud:

۱۲ 12 برای خداوند جلال راتوصیف نمایند و تسبیح او را در جزیره هابخوانند!

Let them render unto Yahweh, glory, —And, his praise, in the Coastlands let them tell.

۱۳ 13 خداوند مثل جبار بیرون می‌آید ومانند مرد جنگی غیرت خویش را برمی انگیزاند. فریاد کرده، نعره خواهد زد و بر دشمنان خویش غلبه خواهد نمود.

Yahweh, as a hero, goeth forth, As a man of war, he stirreth up jealousy, —He giveth a cry, yea he raiseth a war-cry, Over his foes, he showeth his strength.

۱۴ 14 از زمان قدیم خاموش وساکت مانده، خودداری نمودم. الان مثل زنی که می‌زاید نعره خواهم زد و دم زده آه خواهم کشید.

I have held my peace from age-past times, I kept still, I restrained myself, —As a travailing woman, I pant, I breathe hard and gasp, all at once!

۱۵ 15 کوهها و تلها را خراب کرده، تمامی گیاه آنها راخشک خواهم ساخت و نهرها را جزایر خواهم گردانید و برکه‌ها را خشک خواهم ساخت.

I will lay waste mountains, and hills, And all their vegetation, will I wither, —And I will make rivers to be shores, And lakes, will I dry up:

۱۶ 16 وکوران را به راهی که ندانسته‌اند رهبری نموده، ایشان را به طریق هایی که عارف نیستند هدایت خواهم نمود. ظلمت را پیش ایشان به نور و کجی را به راستی مبدل خواهم ساخت. این کارها را بجاآورده، ایشان را رها نخواهم نمود.

Thus will I lead the blind, by a way they know not, In paths they know not, will I guide them, —I will make the place that was dark before them to be, light. And crooked ways, to be, straight, These things, have I done unto them, And have not forsaken them.

۱۷ 17 آنانی که بربتهای تراشیده اعتماد دارند و به اصنام ریخته شده می‌گویند که خدایان ما شمایید به عقب برگردانیده، بسیار خجل خواهند شد.

They have drawn back They turn very pale Who have been trusting in a graven image, —Who have been saying to a molten image, Ye, are our gods!

۱۸ 18 ‌ای کران بشنوید و‌ای کوران نظر کنید تاببینید.

Ye deaf hear! And ye blind look around that ye may see,

۱۹ 19 کیست که مثل بنده من کور باشد وکیست که کر باشد مثل رسول من که می‌فرستم؟

Who is blind if not my Servant? Or deaf, like, my messenger whom I send? Who is, blind, like an intimate friend? Or blind like the Servant of Yahweh?

۲۰ 20 چیزهای بسیار می‌بینی اما نگاه نمی داری. گوشها را می‌گشاید لیکن خودنمی شنود.

Seeing many things, yet thou heedest not, Opening the ears yet he heareth not,

۲۱ 21 خداوند را به‌خاطر عدل خودپسند آمد که شریعت خویش را تعظیم و تکریم نماید.

Yahweh, is well-pleased for his own righteousness’ sake, He magnifieth instruction and maketh it majestic.

۲۲ 22 لیکن اینان قوم غارت و تاراج شده‌اند وجمیع ایشان در حفره‌ها صید شده و در زندانهامخفی گردیده‌اند. ایشان غارت شده و رهاننده‌ای نیست. تاراج گشته و کسی نمی گوید که باز ده.

But, that, is a people preyed upon and plundered, Snared in holes, all of them, And, in houses of restraint, concealed, —They have become a prey, and there is none to deliver, —A booty, and there is none to say—Restore!

۲۳ 23 کیست در میان شما که به این گوش دهد وتوجه نموده، برای زمان آینده بشنود.

Who among you, will give ear to this, —Let him hearken and hear, for an aftertime?

۲۴ 24 کیست که یعقوب را به تاراج و اسرائیل را به غارت تسلیم نمود؟ آیا خداوند نبود که به او گناه ورزیدیم چونکه ایشان به راههای او نخواستندسلوک نمایند و شریعت او را اطاعت ننمودند.

Who gave, as a booty, Jacob. And, Israel, to them who were ready to take prey? Was it not, Yahweh? He against whom we have sinned, And they were not willing, in his ways, to walk, Neither hearkened they to his instruction?

۲۵ 25 بنابراین حدت غضب خود و شدت جنگ را برایشان ریخت و آن ایشان را از هر طرف مشتعل ساخت و ندانستند و ایشان را سوزانید اما تفکرننمودند.

So he hath poured out, upon him, the glow of his anger, and the strength of battle; And it hath set him aflame round about, yet he knoweth it not, And it hath kindled upon him yet he layeth it not to heart.
